Sorry, couldn't think of anything witty against a background of constant whinging!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 15:46

I've not been in to work yet (my ML started 5 months ago . I still get stressed thinking about that place. I get regular e-mails form a work-mate and she says it's really shit and everyone is in a permanent bad mood. I am so not going back there, and if i have to sell my body to afford it, then so be it

Please remind me what I have to do about end of OML. Am I right in thinking that it is assumed you will take all your leave entitlement and that you only have to notify them of your return if you go back before the year is up?

foxybrown · 31/08/2007 15:52

After years as an HR professional, I can't remember! Sorry. Wish I was more use!

foxybrown · 31/08/2007 15:56

Shoes, trousers, lunch box & bag bought. Haircuts done. Will do labels tonight.

Meal plan for next week done Going to go and start cooking now.

Children whinging and demanding. Me shouting. Them not listening.

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 16:03

i just found the mumsnet group on facebook...it's a closed group whihc you need to ask to join. Maybe the june07 mummys group should be set up like that? that way random people won't be able to look at our photos??

I think we need Trace to do that though as she is the administrator!

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 16:06

Hey Foxy....at least I only have one set of labels to contend with!!

DS off for a haircut with DH atm...but he doesn't want it cut as he wants to be a "surfer dude"...bloody DSD has gone to his head . He actually looks really cute with his hair all long and curly around his ears.

God knows what he's going to come back with!

faylisa · 31/08/2007 16:07

daisy - i think...

  • they have to assume you'll take your AML
  • If you want to return before end of AML you need to give 8 weeks notice
  • if you aren't going back after AML you have to give the notice required by your contract
foxybrown · 31/08/2007 16:15

Oh, I know Daisy! I loved my boys scruffy locks. DS2 looked like Stig of the Dump most of the holiday though, and DS1 had the Surfer look. DD1 walks around with permanent 'bed-head' as I fail every day to drag a brush through hers!

my ds is going for haircut with dh tomorrow as well and me next week need to get my highlights done though so will have to express for that

Jamantha · 31/08/2007 16:29

Agree it'd be good to have june mummys group not wide open to anyone.

Hoping DD will be good at work next week. She was when we went in to visit, slept on my shoulder for an hour. Is about 2lb heavier now though, so not sure could carry her like that for that long As long as she doesn't scream all the way through.

Charlie999 · 31/08/2007 16:29

Daisy - do you not have to pay any money back if you don't go back to work? I would if I resigned - but can change jobs anywhere in the NHS and still keep mat leave money.

all this talk about work ...I've just been asked to lecture on 7th December....and I had to say not too early cos DD needs dropping off at nursery.....its going too quickly

Good idea about the FB group - that's what I like about FB - being able to restrict your info / photos

Charlie999 · 31/08/2007 16:31

Won't someone look after her Jamantha at work - I have a long line of volunteers when I pop in...don't see DD for dust and then get the inevitable "While you're here Charlie....."

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 16:32

lol at escaping from the attic. i have the dream of lovingly brushing DDs long wavy locks, but I'm sure that illusion will be shattered as she screams her way through the experience.

DS always has a fuzzy bit at the back...he hates me combing his hair. i feel like a neglectful mum at the school gates!

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 16:33

no charlie, cos i only get statutory maternity pay...no employer top-up the stingy barstools!

andiem · 31/08/2007 16:33

I thought you had to pay back the employer's contribution if you resign or go back for 3 months and then resign and you don't have to pay it back.

andiem · 31/08/2007 16:34

x posts

Jamantha · 31/08/2007 16:35

Maybe charlie, but don't like to presume. Suspect my dept might be rather busy, but might get someone else to watch her - should only be for half hour I reckon.

Charlie999 · 31/08/2007 16:35

Obviously am very lucky with NHS then....

What tight gits

Jamantha · 31/08/2007 16:36

You need to tell DS the story of the Cocoa Coloured Bear Who Would Not Brush His Hair. That's the one that got me to brush my hair as a kid

Jamantha · 31/08/2007 16:36

If you're NHS Charlie, you'll know all about my regrading - Agenda for Change

Charlie999 · 31/08/2007 16:43

Have you not gone through that yet Jamantha - could they not match you to a profile then?

daisyandbabybootoo · 31/08/2007 16:45

one of the downsides of working for a male dominated industry...although you'd think with less women around they would be more generous.

Jamantha · 31/08/2007 16:49

I work for Health Protection Agency, so not strictly NHS, and we started it late, and then no they couldn't match a profile. Sent in my JAQ the day before I had DD, and now got the interview. But have heard that so many people in our division aren't getting sensible results after profile matching and/or JAQs that they're going to review it all anyway. We told them it'd be difficult to put us through it, what with us not being NHS.

Charlie999 · 31/08/2007 17:00

Well you'll have the right to appeal.

What's so silly is that (in the NHS anyway) you can't be interviewed by someone in the same profession as you - so they haven't got a clue what you do. There was an incident in our Trust where an interviewer didn't realise that an MSc was a degree ...they were looking for BSc's and nothing else!!!

Well hopefully, you'll get an upgrade and it'll be backdated to Oct 04!

It was a very expensive exercise for the NHS - and we all got an extra weeks A/L as well!

Right DD screaming now! Later x

sputnik · 31/08/2007 17:07

LOL at the bed-headed DDs. Mine frequently resembles one of those feral children in Mad Max 3.
