Creating a thread for graduates of the October pregnancy thread. Hoping to see some familiar names, but also welcome new ones who want to chat about how their newborns are getting on.
Thought I’d tag a few other people who might want to come over. Feel free to tag others - no offence if I missed people; I have baby brain!

Frizzy1986 · 24/11/2019 06:24

@HJWT that's a shame. Ds spits the normal ones out as I think they are too long in his mouth and he sometimes gags badly on them. These don't have that effect.
He doesn't have them a lot at all, but sometimes can help calm him enough for us to be able to then rock him to sleep.

Maryrobinson81 · 28/11/2019 11:38

I’ve tried the Tommee Tippee Breast soothers this week, she will accept theM slightly more than the mam ones. We had a hip scan this morning and it kept her quiet and calm for that. All was fine on the hip scan she said they looked perfect and thought she was super strong for 5 weeks. Having Some much more settled days but then usually a very unsettled day or 2 follow on!!

Figuringitout · 28/11/2019 13:50

Glad the scan went well @Maryrobinson81. We’ve been at the Drs today, still with green poo but mucus and blood now Sad
Basically they think she might have a cow’s milk protein allergy, which means I have to go dairy free. They said (as she’s not in distress and not losing weight) to give it another week and then begin the elimination diet... I know it’s selfish but I am massively crossing my fingers that it’s just a virus as I can’t imagine not having cheese at Christmas Sad Hope everyone else is having a good week!

BellaBellaBelle · 28/11/2019 17:11

Glad the scan went ok @Maryrobinson81.

Sorry to hear that @Figuringitout. I can’t imagine living without chocolate and cheese Sad. Does your dd have any other symptoms? I’m pretty sure ds has developed reflux as he’s started screaming in pain in the evenings when he brings back milk. He also gets lots of hiccups, and coughs/splutters a lot when I’m feeding him but I just assumed I had a fast let down. It’s awful to watch him scream until he’s so exhausted that he crashes out to sleep. Not sure whether to see a Gp just yet, or even if there’s anything they can do for him if he’s still gaining weight. Ive cut down on the dairy too in case that makes a difference.

Frizzy1986 · 28/11/2019 23:55

@Maryrobinson81 fab news on the scan.

@figuringitout oh boy that does not sound fun at all. Hopefully it's the virus option!

@BellaBellaBelle I'm not sure when to seek help, I'm a last straw person so usually find I go too late!

Ds had his jabs on Tuesday. Screamed like anything poor boy. Had a fever afterwards as expected but that's gone now. He is refusing boob today though. He's really out of sorts and is having a lot of screamy patches. He starts sucking like crazy on his hands, but if I offer my breast he screams blue murder and either refuses or has 2 sucks then done.
Since about 6:30 he's fed for about 2 mins! I'm trying not to worry about it, but obvs I am. I don't remember it like this with dd.

HJWT · 03/12/2019 22:05

@Frizzy1986 How are you getting on now?

@Maryrobinson81 we also had a hip scan and all was fine! He said his hips are like a 6 month old? 🥴

Sadly my nan has passed away, its been a horrible week! Had to cancel meeting SIL and cancelled our holiday, funeral on Thursday... think its effected my supply to so need to try and get that back up 😩

cattaxi · 03/12/2019 22:39

So sorry for your loss @HJWT. I hope you are ok.
I took fenugreek when I was worried about low supply with ds1. It worked well. What makes you think your has dropped?

How is everyone doing?
We’ve had a busy few weeks with family visits, dh getting ill & all the craziness of being a family of 5. I’m not remotely ready for Christmas, but we have a tree and ds1 (4) is super excited.

How are all the babies? Ds2 is doing really well. He’s up to 12lbs now and feels very chunky. He’s smiling and cooing at us & feeling less & less like a newborn. Time is going so quick.
I’ve given up trying to get him to sleep anywhere other than right next to me at night & we are getting some decent stretches. DH did the school run this morning because I’ve got a cold and we slept until 10:30. Bliss!

I hope everyone is doing ok 🙂

Frizzy1986 · 03/12/2019 23:14

@HJWT so sorry about your nan!

Things got a bit better the next day or so. We still have some patches where he's refusing milk and screaming, but he has a lot of happy periods too so he must be OK.

@cattaxi 10:30 wow, sounds like bliss. Dh takes dd to breakfast club on a friday, but I get up and get the shopping done. I should prob take advantage of the lack of school run that day.

I'm pretty prepared for Xmas. We got almost all the gifts in one swoop online. Just need to wrap everything.
Dds birthday is Xmas eve so need to make sure we sort what presents we are doing for which day.

We have tongue tie snip on Friday and then my parents visiting on Saturday. Can't wait to see them again.
I'm also midway through a wee journal for my female physio. I have to log how much I drink and when, how much I wee and when (yes I have to measure it) and also when I've wet my pants! Joy. Thankfully there seems to be loads less leakage so progress.

Figuringitout · 04/12/2019 09:09

Hi everyone,
Sorry to for your loss @HJWT - what a difficult week.
I’m not ready yet for Christmas - but I will be! We’ve had a really interesting week. I have cut dairy / soya out and the difference it’s made has been incredible. She is sleeping so well, no more inconsolable crying - in fact she has hardly cried this week - her skin has cleared up. Poo is still green but it will take a while for her gut to heal. I’m now waiting for an appointment with paediatrics but am going to stay dairy free until I have seen someone.
@Frizzy1986 hope the tongue tie snip makes a difference. Sorry to hear about the wee diary! Hopefully that is the first step to getting it sorted.

Maryrobinson81 · 04/12/2019 14:09

So sorry @HJWT about your Nan, I hope you are ok.
@Figuringitout, wow that sounds positive, I’m glad you are seeing a result. My sister had to cut out dairy while feeding and found it easier than she thought, she doesn’t bother with much dairy anymore even though she’s not feeding now.
I really need to do a charity shop sort out as got to make room for new Christmas toys. I did lots while I started Mat leave but now realise i need to do more! My youngest has a birthday just before Christmas too.
@Frizzy1986 hope the tongue tie snip goes ok, and have a lovely Weekend with your parents!

HJWT · 04/12/2019 14:25

Thanks everyone ❤️ its very sad but she was old and didn't want to live much longer! Will just miss her, she loved rocking Coby in his carseat 😩

Baby is doing well he is 12 LB 14 now 😄 7 weeks old x

SC0508 · 11/12/2019 18:15

How is everyone doing?
I am currently feeling very anxious DS has an appointment at hospital tomorrow to see a pediatric surgeon after a referral from GP. On Monday we noticed one of his testicles had doubled in size but wasn't causing him any pain, GP isn't sure if it's extra fluid in the sac or if it is possibly a hernia. Hearing from my GP that my baby may need surgery has sent my mind into overdrive, just so glad that my GP has managed to get me an appointment so soon

BellaBellaBelle · 11/12/2019 20:25

@SC0508 so sorry to hear you’re feeling anxious and having an extra appointment to deal with. I hope you get some answers soon.

We’re doing ok here, although ds had his immunisations last week and has had mild diarrhoea for the last few days. He’s still pretty unsettled in the evenings but once he does crash out, he’s sleeping well through the night with one wake up at 5am ish. I’m under no illusion that it’ll stay this way though as it didn’t with dd!! I also can’t put him down during his daytime naps so not getting much done! He’s 10 weeks now and nearly 13lb!Shock

How is everyone doing?

SC0508 · 11/12/2019 20:31

@BellaBellaBelle really hoping so! DS was meant to have immunisations yesterday but I got a call to say nurse had called in sick and now need to wait till next week for health visitor to call me back to reschedule. I get 2 hrs each time as DS wakes up for a bottle every 2 hrs no matter how much I up the amount of ozs 😂

cattaxi · 12/12/2019 07:44

Sorry you’ve got all this worry @SC0508. It’s horrible to think of our little tiny ones needing treatment. Hopefully it’s just some fluid that will go of it’s own accord.

@BellaBellaBelle I think the rotavirus vaccine can upset their tummies a bit. Ds has his yesterday & this mornings poo was pretty grim.

I think we’ve had a double whammy on that ds seemed to have stated with his first cold a few hours after his jabs yesterday. He’s so snotty & unhappy, bless him. He doesn’t usually cry much, but was very upset most of the night. Apart from voting, I think we’ll spend today cuddled up on the sofa.

Hasn’t the past 2 months flown compared to the last 2 months of pregnancy?!

HJWT · 12/12/2019 09:00

Hope everyone is ok... cant wait for this year to be OVER! Currently on high dependency with Coby he has bronchiolitis! They sent us home yesterday and we came back in at 4AM as I was not happy with his breathing even though it was the same as when they let us go.. he is currently having oxygen pushed into his lungs because he was breathing to fast the oxygen wasn't doing anything when it went in!

Very very tired mummy 😪 and my boobs are so engorged its horrendous ! Should be on holiday 🥴

cattaxi · 12/12/2019 10:41

Oh god @HJWT, you poor things. We had that with ds1 when he was about 1. It must be terrifying with a newborn. Sending you lots of virtual hugs & best wishes x

BellaBellaBelle · 12/12/2019 11:30

@HJWT poor Coby. That must be really worrying, I hope he recovers quickly. Sending you all love!

HJWT · 12/12/2019 18:29

@cattaxi @BellaBellaBelle Thank you both! Hoping to come of the oxygen over night 🤞🏻 just want to go home I have not slept more than 30 mins a time since Sunday night had 40 mins in the last 24 hours! Feel like iv been on gas & air 🥴🤣 and obviously he isn't allowed to eat so he is just constantly screaming when he is awake 😪 feel like the worst mum ever!

cattaxi · 12/12/2019 20:30

Don’t be hard on yourself @HJWT. He’s in the beat place & you are the best mum for getting home there & being with him x

cattaxi · 13/12/2019 15:53

How is coby doing @HJWT? Thinking of you x

Frizzy1986 · 14/12/2019 16:30

@HJWT oh no that's rubbish. You are in the best place though. Hope that you get out soon.

Hope everyone is ready for Christmas. I'm pretty much ready including dds birthday on Xmas eve. It's her party next weekend and it's the first one we've ever done so that should be fun with an 11 week old.

I'm off to the docs this week about my bleeding (out the back). I get sharp pains when I go and think I have a rectocele as felt inside the front when I needed to go and could feel it bulging from the back. And I thought I'd got away with no issues after 2 3rd degree tears. Feeling a bit low about it as they either leave it so ill have it the rest of my life or if it's bad they do surgery, which isn't ideal when breastfeeding a newborn. Wish there was a way to fix it by pelvic exercise or something.

SC0508 · 17/12/2019 11:07

How is Coby doing @HJWT

How is everyone else doing?

I am feeling very frustrated and fed up, health visitor has just cancelled Zac's immunisations again! He was meant to have them last week but they cancelled 40mins before and now today they have cancelled an hour before and have told me they are going to try and fit him in before Xmas!

cattaxi · 17/12/2019 21:25

Hi @SC0508 that sounds very frustrating about the jabs. Hopefully they get to you before Christmas.
We are good. Last week was a bit tricky with jabs and a cold. But ds is back to his happy self now. He was so good at the school play last night. I put him in the sling & he didn’t make a sound (apart from snoring!) for the whole show.
He’s getting so big now & isn’t like a newborn any more. He’s really discovered his hands and I don’t think it will be long before he’s trying to grab things.
I’m making the most of the next few quiet days. It’s going to be chaos over the holidays I bet!

Also thinking of @HJWT and hoping Cody is getting better x

HJWT · 18/12/2019 11:03

Sorry everyone Coby is much better now, He was on the CPAP machine for around 30 hours! It was horrible as he wasn't allowed much milk, only 5 ml every couple of hours so I was stood up most of the time trying to comfort him but obviously couldn't pick him up! They did give him something to keep him calm though so he managed to sleep for a few hours.

He is a very strong little boy bless him, Hardly cried when they put the cannula in also he had his jabs this morning cried for a couple of seconds and that was it! He got more pissed of than anything with the CPAP being up his nose! The nurses couldn't believe he was only 8 weeks when he was trying to fight them of haha!

Now I am full of a cold so feeling like 💩😂 also have had a couple of episodes of blurred vision. Gp told me to go straight to A&E if it happens again and did an urgent referral so my year keeps getting worse 🥴

Hope you are all doing ok! @Frizzy1986 hope the doctors can sort that for you!
