Creating a thread for graduates of the October pregnancy thread. Hoping to see some familiar names, but also welcome new ones who want to chat about how their newborns are getting on.
Thought I’d tag a few other people who might want to come over. Feel free to tag others - no offence if I missed people; I have baby brain!

@yorkshireindie I don’t even look at the time in the night! I prefer not to know, I’m mostly feeding side lying and co-sleeping at the moment so I actually feel I’m getting better sleep than when I was pregnant which isn’t difficult to be fair!

Feeling emotional too at times, more so over the the fact that I won’t get to do any of this again, pregnancy and the whole excitement is amazing and birth too, I just love it. We didn’t plan for this little lady but she’s here and I feel so lucky to have experienced it all again. But right now I’d love a baby number 5! I’m sure it will pass!!

cattaxi · 03/11/2019 17:32

@YorkshireIndie it was like that here last night. Ds slept most of the day, then as soon as we went upstairs, he wanted to feed constantly & would not sleep anywhere apart from on me. He was so exhausted by this afternoon that he’s just had an epic 4 hour nap. Fingers crossed for a better night tonight!
Hope you are feeling better this evening. Day 4 can be brutal.

Welcome @amehh & @BellaBellaBelle. After a good start, ds is getting less & less keen on being put down.

That’s really lovely @maryrobinson81. Im sure 5 kids would be so much fun! I’m the complete opposite & just overjoyed that I don’t have to be pregnant ever again!

YorkshireIndie · 03/11/2019 19:25

My sister has taken the baby off me today and brought him back for feeding. Meant that I could have a bit of a rest and DS is not using me as a constant dummy. Currently feeding him now and he paused, did a poo and then resumed feeding - he has priories 😆

HJWT · 03/11/2019 22:41

Honestly no wonder people quit breastfeeding!! Baby has been crying since 6pm and feeding constantly he has even had a 3OZ bottle of BM from the freezer, done 2 big poo's has fed and gone to sleep but as soon as I put him down he is screaming again for the boob, which are both empty so he is just thrashing around getting pissed of! 🥴 I need to go to sleeeeep! Help me!! haha

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 03/11/2019 23:24

@HJWT we are having the same kind of night. Cluster feeding... it's not my favourite 😭

HJWT · 04/11/2019 06:01

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy I tell you! Its a good job they are so cute 😆

@HJWT so SO cute 💕

Also i have had such sore nipples lately but tried multi-mam compress last night and already a massive improvement.
Just sharing incase anyone else feels like they have been attached with shards of glass!

YorkshireIndie · 04/11/2019 16:11

😍 @HJWT

Just taken baby boy for his 5 day check and he has only lost 6% of his birth weight!

I agree about the breastfeeding comment. Really debated the other night about dummies

homley · 04/11/2019 19:50

Hi everyone hope everyone and your babies are well :)
For some reason I find using mumsnet boards hard to use, so I am useless at posting.
I definitely agree with the breastfeeding comment, I struggled the other night as DD was up all night wanting feeding and wouldn't settle didnt get a minute of sleep, but then felt guilty for complaining as I will miss when she isn't BF anymore or waking up in the night for feeds.
DD is going to be a month old on thursday 😫 how has that happened?!

Frizzy1986 · 05/11/2019 04:18

I feel your pain with them not wanting to be put down. Ds is getting worse and today has cried every time he's been put down.
I've managed a 4hr stint between feeds so by the time I fed him and got him to stay asleep in his crib, I think I got about 3hrs sleep, but he fed again at 2:15am and is refusing to sleep in his crib. I'm munching on Mr kipping cakes as I'm shattered.
Dh is also snoring which makes me feel wonderful and even if I do get ds asleep, dh either wakes him with a massive snore or I can't get to sleep.

Dh almost got a firestorm from me yesterday. At about 9:30pm he turned to me and asked if I wanted to go to bed (he was looking after ds for the first time in the day). I was like yes thinking I'm gonna get some sleep.
He then said, you go get ready for bed and then ill bring ds up for you.
I was like, that's not going to bed though, I want sleep.
Granted, that's usually what I do as I try to be the one who takes the suffering as I always want to look after everyone including dh, and give him some time for himself, but that's when I offer. It would be nice for dh to offer to take the hit sometimes to give me a break, but he doesn't.

cattaxi · 05/11/2019 05:20

Another one here with a cluster feeding baby who won’t be put down!
Ds has also decided he doesn’t like other people, only me! It’s very sweet to be the chosen one, but I can’t catch a break at all. I have figured he sleeps better in his pram, so put him in there for a nap yesterday & he went for almost 4 hours and I got to sleep a bit too.
Currently waiting for him to sleep deeply so I can try him in the co-sleeper. Fingers crossed!

BellaBellaBelle · 05/11/2019 06:04

That sounds tough Frizzy. My dh takes the baby from 9pm (or as early as I can get to bed) to around 11pm/ midnight and if I didn’t get that block of sleep I don’t know what state I’d be in. I do get irritated when he complains about feeling tired in the morning though as I don’t get much sleep from 11/12 onwards and he gets a good 6-7 hours!

Also agree that bf is hard. I bf dd until she was 14 months old and I remember there was a point when it got loads easier-maybe when I was on the verge of giving up! I did have a little daydream yesterday though about someone else taking ds for the whole day and not having that pressure to feed him and getting more than 3 hours sleep. Maybe it’s time to start expressing and trying him with a bottle.

SC0508 · 05/11/2019 12:11

How's everyone's day going?

Definitely feeling the tiredness today! DS has been wakening every 2 hrs for a feed to which I probably sleep about 45mins -1hr of as by time I get him to burp and sit up for milk to settle and change bum an hour has gone by 😂 OH has been helpful and taking over when he gets home from work but then I have older son to take care of and school stuff to prep for next day.

Had the HV visiting today as DS is now 3wks 2day, seemed very pointless as she was only here for not even 10 mins. Only good part was I got to know how much weight he has put on, he's now weighing 8lb 12oz was born 7lb 4oz so definitely growing well!

Can't believe how fast time is going doesn't feel that long ago that I was pregnant 😂

YorkshireIndie · 05/11/2019 21:28

Been feeling a bit up and down. MIL is visiting and had my first moment of panic that she was not going to hand back the baby when I asked for him back. Do not know how to describe the feeling of relief when I got him back

😍 at lying down feeding. It is truly the best thing ever

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 05/11/2019 21:56

Ds is 4 weeks today and lord the breastfeeding never ever stops! I can't do anything at all and he has some reflux so when he eventually sleeps I still have to keep him upright and he wakes to be sick. Send help I'm so tired!

Maryrobinson81 · 06/11/2019 10:02

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy have you tried a wrap/sling or carrier? I use one a lot and means I can get things done, would also help baby stay upright and it really settles them being close. I’ve used one for all of my babies. Also I tie the wrap before I leave the house and wear it in the car if I want to use it so don’t have to mess about in car park putting it on! Hope it gets easier for you soon !
@YorkshireIndie feeding lay down is amazing! When they get to a few months old they just help themselves through the night 😂

YorkshireIndie · 06/11/2019 11:12

@Maryrobinson81 I swear last night all I did was plug my breast inside DS's mouth and changed how I was lying so he could empty the other side 😂

BellaBellaBelle · 06/11/2019 13:03

How is everyone doing? I feel like I’m stuck to the sofa at the moment, ds just isn’t happy being put down during the day or night. I tried to settle him in the snuzpod last night and woke up with my head right by his chest and my arm draped around his head. I must have been trying to trick him into thinking he was being held! At least I got to lie down for a bit Grin!

cattaxi · 06/11/2019 18:39

Hello! How is everyone doing? All good here in the endless cycle of feeding, changing, cuddling & trying to get stuff done!
Ds is doing well and had gained over a pound on his birth weight by 3 weeks. He is very snuggly & i’m trying to just embrace & enjoy it.

@BellaBellaBelle that’s great that your baby will settle with dh so you can get a few hours at night. Ds won’t settle with anyone else yet.
We have a sleepyhead & I often wake draped over ds in it! He still seems to figure out if he’s not fully on me though.

Time is flying by, isn’t it @SC0508. I can’t believe he will be 4 weeks on Monday.

That sounds hard @Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy. All the coffee for you! I second the sling suggestion.

@Maryrobinson81 & @YorkshireIndie lying down feeding is ace! It took me ages to master with ds1, but we’ve cracked it right away this time. Only problem is I keep forgetting to change sides & end up with one huge engorged boob!

HJWT · 07/11/2019 20:52

Hi everyone sorry not been on for a few days! Life seems very hectic atm, I used to get 'quiet' time once DD has gone to bed but now DS has decided its his witching hour 6pm- 10/11pm and just wants to hold my boob in his mouth and thrash around/cry 🤨

Hope everyone is doing well! Just remember they will be toddlers before we know it so take time out and enjoy the middle of the night snuggles 🥰

Maryrobinson81 · 07/11/2019 21:21

@HJWT I totally agree about them being toddlers before you know it. I Get very emotional looking at pictures of my other children as babies and toddlers and wishing they were still like that. So definitely trying to savour every moment of our new little one.
Her cluster feeding seems to be 4ish until 9pm. Although today it seems to have been all day!! 2 week growth spurt I think. She also does lots of just holding nipple in her mouth without any sucking.

cattaxi · 07/11/2019 22:18

Waahhh! I don’t want my lovely little baby to grow into a toddler.
He smiled at me today. My heart melted. Time is going way too fast.

Our cluster feeding time starts about 6pm and can go on into the small hours. I’m watching so much tv!

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 09/11/2019 02:09

I've really been struggling with bf'ing this week. It's non stop and he still isn't latching well even after thetongue tie snip. Ive got myself a pump to try and sterilising kit and bottles etc. Is it just me or does it all seem complicated? Once they are sterilised then what? Need to be used in 24 hours... do you leave them in there??? Mind = blown... I am v tired though.
Moving house next week too. Yikes!

HJWT · 09/11/2019 05:48

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy I tend to leave it in the steriliser box and just use it within 24 hours, breast milk is sterile anyway its only really a problem if using formula in bottles that you need to keep them sterilised constantly!

YorkshireIndie · 09/11/2019 11:19

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy have you had anymore breastfeeding support? It sounds like you could do with being in bed with baby and just rest (but I know that sounds easier said than put in practice)

What is everyone wearing to breastfeed? I am out of maternity wear but struggling with my pre-pregnancy wardrobe to find things I can wear and breastfeed in. I have some nursing vests but could do with some suggestions
