I expect toddler groups are cheaper than nursery too

I just need to be brave

Jas · 30/08/2007 21:56

Go when they start in Sep. Some people will have left because their children are goig to school/nursery, and you probably won't be the only new oe there, so f no one else talks to you you can talk to the other ew people. That's what I did

FlameBatfink · 30/08/2007 22:00

We can never let these two boys play together - they would end up in A&E within an hour!!! DS decided that his new party trick is to slide down the slide stood up He is surprisingly good and only falls at the end.

Loving "boo-bee".

Less thinky now and just enjoying the renewed friendships - my female friend was as blissfully unaware as I had been that apparently it was common knowledge in our year group at college that we were a couple - although, if I am going to be outed, she was hot Oh, and my ex is sniggering at how I had a girl cowering in the toilets whilst I beat hell out of her for kissing him - we had broken up at the time, but she was one of my best friends and knew I was still besotted.... (Have never forgiven her - he was free to kiss who he wanted, she betrayed my trust).

Phoenix n confidence... I have sod all either I go to one group, and only because one of the mums started talking to me at school!

OP posts:
Phoenix · 30/08/2007 22:09

That's what i always do flame, wait for people to talk to me first.

Phoenix · 30/08/2007 22:14

Oh forgot, Lewis bust his lip at my mum's today but she didn't tell me how (and i didn't ask ) because they were just dropping him off quickly then rushing off to pick my grandma up from the hospital (my grandad had a hip replacement op today)

mustrunmore · 30/08/2007 22:45

Well, I brushed ds2's teeth tonight and he thrashed a bit, caught the edge of the brush; tons of blood Bad parent.

Phoenix, you're not shy, you're a very nice person My first toddler group made me cry because all the other mums had kids in the same nursery, and they were all ver horrible. But then I braved going to signing, made a good friend, ended up teaching some classes, wentto other toddler groups, and hey presto! Now I'm full circle, and hate groups agin because I've been doing them for so long now, and I really cant fit any more local friends into my life, odd as it sounds. Just get to one, and you'll be fine. Soon you'll be choosing which one based on which does the best biscuits Er, or was that just me?

Got my Dad here, so roping him into a day in London tomorrow (not v good with kids, but at least he's an extra pair of hands and eyes).

Back to shitty bedtime with ds1 (tantrums from 7.45 till 9.30). Jas, I did give him the other polly pocket the othr day though, and he loves it! Odd boy.

mustrunmore · 30/08/2007 22:47

Flame, the boys do that slide surfing thing in tandem Er, do you actually like Mika BTW, or are you another person who scorns him?

FlameBatfink · 30/08/2007 23:06

Why are we asking me about Mika? I don't mind him either way tbh - although the lollipop song after it's 10th play in a row does make me want to kill myself

OP posts:
mustrunmore · 30/08/2007 23:16

But its very good for runnning to, you have to admit.

Phoenix · 30/08/2007 23:19

My ringtone is Mika's Love Today And my fave song at the mo is Mika's Big Girls You Are Beautiful. I haven't got his album so haven't heard any that haven't been released as a single but i like what i've heard so far

mustrunmore · 30/08/2007 23:25

Everything's good on the album Email me your address and I'll sweet talk dh into doing something about your sad lack of Mika for you

FlameBatfink · 30/08/2007 23:29

Nothing is good for running

OP posts:
Phoenix · 30/08/2007 23:33

Me? I haven't got your email address.

2boysmacca · 31/08/2007 06:40

Agree MIKA is very good to run too. I love the album

Also 2nd the advice on groups. It gets harder pg as the kids get older. I did a homestart group with ds and it was fab, met loads of people. You've just got to bite the bullet and go up and talk to people. If people are in groups and cliquey it's not that they're not friendly, it's usually because they've had enough of trying with people and can't be arsed. If you went and made the effort it'd be a different story, honest. You've just gotta push yourself!

ds2 got up at 7.30 last night, didn't go back until 9.30 and then it took lots of hand holding) he woke 4 times int he night and finally woke at about 5.50. I think he'll be very grumpy until nap time!

The channel changing thew me too. Although for some reason freesat keeps sticking so we cna't watch it. No idea what is wrong.

Jas · 31/08/2007 06:53

DD1 talked me into buying her the Mika album a couple of weeks ago. It is the first ime she has shown an interest in any music more recent than Elvis, so I had to get it for her.

Sounds like a rotton night, macca

DS was up at his usual 5.30 today after a cople of lie-ins.

Phoenix, you have mrms email now

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/08/2007 07:26

Morning early birds.

for crap nights/early starts.

mustrunmore · 31/08/2007 09:13

I notice you didnt give an opinon on mika though Jas!

Going into town today. Might do Eye or aquarium or wander round Southbank(wet things at festival hall) etc.

Phoenix · 31/08/2007 09:13

Thanks Jas. I've emailed my address mrm

Lew woke up at 6.30 but I gave him his dummy and he went back to sleep til 8.15

We need to go to the Post Office today to get car tax for dh's car It's £140 for 12 months or £77 for 6 months. We can just about afford 6 month. We've got a mortgage review coming up in a few months so hopefully we can sort ourselves out money wise then.

I emailed the homestart toddler group last night asking a few questions and i just got a reply back. It's held on a Friday morning 9.30-11.30 and is a completely free drop in session

Phoenix · 31/08/2007 09:25

Who needs toys eh? Lewis has spent half an hour sat quietly ripping up a magazine

Jas · 31/08/2007 09:30

Free sessions are always good Phoenix You have to go nowyou've told us. Is it on today? Or does it start next week?

DP car tax is £100 for 6 months

No opinion on Mika. I haven't listened to it. DDs have the only cd player, so unless I sit in their room, or blast the whole house with it, I don't listen to music at all.

2boysmacca · 31/08/2007 10:35

I have just had the most stressful Waitrose shop. Ds2 in trolley screaming to get out, ds screaming to get in. Lots of looks and tuts then this kind old lady came over to try and calm them down. I then shouted very loudly at [ds] then decided it would be easier to give him a piggy bag whilst spinning the trolley to calm ds2 down. I had 3 woman and 4 members of staff offer some kind of help. I am totally embarassed as it took all my strength not to burst into tears. Ds enjoyed his piggy back, ds2 was still screaming when I took him out then held him down while I tried to clip him into his car seat. He screamed, banging his head and slapping his face all the way home. I pull up onto the drive, let ds out he falls over flat on his face and screams. I take him into the house, and cuddle him while I can hear ds2 still screaming in the car. I've put him to bed and Cars on for ds. Is it too early for a vodka and tonic? Oh well, may just have a strong cup of tea. I may not survive the day......

FlameBatfink · 31/08/2007 11:10

CSWS you NEED one!!!

OP posts:
Jas · 31/08/2007 19:22

Shame it only goes up to 6 months. I thnk you should buy one anyway

macca.I reallyhope your day got better. It sounds truly awful. You did well not to burst into tears and walk out.

2boysmacca · 31/08/2007 19:34

It did Jas. Ds2 slept for about 4 hours, woke up all happy so we went to play in the park.

FlameBatfink · 31/08/2007 19:38
