Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Phoenix · 20/08/2007 20:00

I wouldn't know what to do on a bus now, i haven't used 1 since school (10 year)

mustrunmore · 20/08/2007 20:02

about your car chloe, but about managing on a bus with a buggy and a ds1!! Ds1 is almost 4; he can take care of himself. And if I didnt have the buggy, how would I carry my shopping and the nappy/snack bag?! It is slightly more irksome on tube/train, but much better with the sinlge buggy than when I used the double.

Chloe55 · 20/08/2007 20:04

We had to get a bus everywhere in London because some of the tubes were down - I was actually surprised at how easy the whole process was (minus child) - to get one here would be a nightmare though, they are few and far between and we nearly always have to get 2 buses.

mustrunmore · 20/08/2007 20:04

You're funny too Phoenix!
I was so shocked the otherday when my neighboutr asked me how to pay for a bus ride, because I took her ds12 on noe a while ago through necessity , so now her ds1 is jealous. This is the woman that does the nursery run in a car; it takes me 7 mins tops to walk there

mustrunmore · 20/08/2007 20:05

Er, that should say ds2 not ds12 obviuosly

Chloe55 · 20/08/2007 20:05

But do you have to lift the buggy up the bus steps? I always picture my days as a school kid watching people help the buggies onto the bus and always thought it looked a nightmare!

mustrunmore · 20/08/2007 20:07

Buses only have one step! Its easy! There's only 2 buses anywhere remotely near anywhere I go that actually have more than one step.

Chloe55 · 20/08/2007 20:09

Hee hee me and pg really should embrace the public tranport system and risk venturing out one day with our ds's! We could take pic s and you could all laugh at us

Phoenix · 20/08/2007 20:10

I once got on a bus and it took off without my mum who was putting my brothers pushchair down and struggling with him. I was only about 3, luckily a lady noticed i was on my own and looked after me. My mum was hysterical.

Chloe55 · 20/08/2007 20:11

Bloody hell that's scarey! I shouldn't laugh really should i?

Phoenix · 20/08/2007 20:16

I do now but i'm pretty sure i wasn't at the time

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/08/2007 20:23

That's fine for tomorrow Jas. Do you want me to bring something for lunch?

Haven't been on much today as dd decided not to nap (had 10 mins in car this morning), and has been very demanding.

Got a notification through today that I was caught speeding (36 in a 30) when visiting my parents, and need to send off my driving license to accept fine and points, but license is well and truly lost. Can't order another in a straightforward fashion as old one has both wrong address and wrong name on it! I now have to go and write to apply for an extension to the statutory times for submitting my documents, as won't get it all sorted in time before we go on holiday. A hassle I could do without.

Back later.

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/08/2007 20:27

Hmmm - it seems that message didn't actually post when I sent it, so I've now written my letter (just need to do envelope).

at driver leaving your mum when you were only 3. I'd definitely be hysterical if it went with dd on and not me.

mustrunmore · 20/08/2007 20:31

Oh dear csws. oops. Was that speeding to get away from your Mum?! Er, do provisional licenses expire? I had one when I was 17, so if itsstil lvalid, its obv in the wrong name and address by now.

I was thinknig of briningng something nice and lightweight like a melon !

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/08/2007 20:33

Ooh - I have a whole (bar 1 slice) watermelon. I could bring a chunk of that and then when I arrive I could say 'I carried a watermelon' .

Based on the day and time, mum was in the car with me when it happened, on the way to the open farm.

mustrunmore · 20/08/2007 20:34

Thats where we differ csws. If a bus drovw off without ds1, I wouldnr worry as a( the next stop is only a few metres way and b) he'sd givethe driver a right mouthful anyway! My exh grew up in Zambia for a while ,and wandered onto a bus alone, and n one said anything so it drove off f into the middle of nowhere And dh'd nephew tried to get on a Nat Express alone aged 4!

Jas · 20/08/2007 20:34

cs_s
macca Poor baby. I second the no nappy approach. I used muslins and no rap and changed at the first sign of a ee for to days hicgh helped ds.

London buses are ok, everyhere else is rubbish. I have to put don the buggy and carry ds, and they are so infrequent and expensive that I only go to places I can alk or get a train to no_.
Iused to just make everyone ait hile I carried to sleeping toddlers, the double buggy and all my stuff off the bus hen the dds ere small. I reckon the train is orth the extra money no though.

I ill be carless again after the hols I hope. (e can't afford to run t_o)

I haven't planned lunch, but I'm sure I can gather something together for you. css, ill you arrive before or after mrm (aiming for 10- 10.30 ish I think)? I ill go and collect her form the train so ill obviously not be in during that time.

mustrunmore · 20/08/2007 20:35

God, we were only talking about that today, and how its a crappy girl film apparently

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/08/2007 20:36

Err, the same time?!

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/08/2007 20:38

Well it is a bit of a girl film, but def not a crappy one!

I'll ring or post in the morning when I've got a clue what time I'll be there Jas. Have no idea what time we'll be up with dd's weird sleep habits at the moment.

Chloe55 · 20/08/2007 20:38

Bloody hell Jas your keyboard is getting worse

mustrunmore · 20/08/2007 20:38

excellent. Someone whose posts are even less decipherable than mine!!!

Aimimng doesnt mean actually arrivng then, as its a first on this route for us. W could be terribly early or terribly late!

I'll bring a melon and a bottle of Dr Feelgood.

Ds1 is in bed, I think asleep. But only because Daddy was here again

mustrunmore · 20/08/2007 20:39

No, def not crappy!

Jas · 20/08/2007 20:42

I spent ages filling all the VVs ith a _ so you could read it, but don't think I'll bother. I'll make you ork it out![ink]

hat film are you on about?
I got the polly pockets out of the loft. I just have to sort them out ithout the dds spotting them mo.

As long as you arrive before lunch (or after css ) so I have childcare for my three , I don't mind hen you arrive, mrm.

Chloe55 · 20/08/2007 20:43

Sorry
