Well said, Elkie I'm v.involved in my local NCT and we've got a mix of FF and BF mums and loads of disposables - I am lentil weaving hippie who wraps her babies bum in cloth and it is boobies all the way here; but I've certainly never thought to judge anyone who does it differently - just good to have nice mummy friends in the same boat!

Eca - I've been away so I didn't even read what you wrote - so you certainly didn't offend me!! It's old news, so I'm not going back to find your comments - I think you apology was well written - It is easy to just "splurge" on MN and "let it all out" .... we've all done it, so don't worry sweetie!

Morning btw!

Eddas · 07/08/2007 08:45

morning everyone, sorry for not being too personal, feeling really out of sorts lately, as you can tell from my posts!(hi ballet mum, enjoy the madness)

I am not going to be on for a while. I think being on here/msn etc alot is contributing to my weird feelings, since I am here when I should be with my family I just haven't found the right balance in my life and it makes me feel a little depressed TBH.

I will probably lurk a little or maybe try to catch up once a week (unlikely with all you lot chatting)

speak soon

CaptainDippy · 07/08/2007 09:06

Here for you eddas honey. {{{{hugs}}}}

Right. Off out into the sunny sunshine!!!!

"See" you later ....

emmymummy · 07/08/2007 09:20

Balletmum - don't listen to CaptainDippy, I am totally sane and normal, and not strange at all. Anyway, that's rich, coming from someone who's known as Dippy......( Love you really Dippy ).

Eddas - I know what you mean. Sometimes I tell Em that I'm 'woking' when I'm on here . I hope you manage to reach the right balance for you & your family.

Right, better get on...catch you all later xxx

emmymummy · 07/08/2007 09:22

Oopps, that's 'working', not 'woking', obviously. I mean, I'm not big enough to merit being named after a whole town....

maveta · 07/08/2007 09:36

Hi Balletmum and welcome!

Morning everyone else.. Eca you certainly didn´t offend me at all, I read it as your personal stance to your own personal situation and appreciated what you were trying to say. And in case I forgot to say, which I obviously did , thank you because in my case I think you kind of hit the nail on the head I think you are pretty safe in this thread to say what you feel, we all know it´s a place to come on MN where you can say what you feel and it not be read as a sly dig at someone else. Don´t feel bad.

Eddas - here´s to the ol´ work/life/MN balance! I know what you mean - sometimes you can get a bit stuck to the computer all day and it can leave me feeling a bit disconnected. I´m making a huge effort now to only MN when dh is out and baby is sleeping and I feel better for it.

The planning of this london trip goes on and on but I think it´s going to be okay. I can take our car seat so sis can pick us up. It´s still a lot of money we can barely afford but needs must so we´ll just have to swallow it.

Kisses to everyone..

lazyemma · 07/08/2007 09:36

thanks elkiedee. I think I'm just super-sensitive about feeding at the moment - I can't even say to anyone that I'm formula feeding without pouring out the whole sorry story of why. Certainly didn't mean to imply (sorry CD!) that breastfeeding mums are all judgemental, but I think there definitely are some people who are, especially when they find out you ff from birth.

I'd already joined the NCT so it's a question of going along to one of the things they've got in their diary. There's a "bumps and babies" group this Thursday which I'm steeling myself to attend.

Sexonlegs · 07/08/2007 10:11

LazyEmma, I was exactly the same as you with dd1. I tried bf for a week and went on to ff. I remember going to an NCT first timers group and needing to give B a bottle. I felt so ashamed which when I look back now was totally ridiculous. I hope you can overcome any feelings you have and get those bottles out!

Eddas, see you soon flower. Will miss you. xx

elkiedee · 07/08/2007 10:37

Those of you trying to stay offline probably won't get to see this but I think you're quite right to try and find a better balance. Today I'll probably end up online a lot but I now know and expect it to be my planned day alone at home this week - my dad will come by for an hour or so this afternoon and I might step out to the library. Knowing that I have reasons to go out the rest of this week makes me feel less mopey.

Emma, I'm also telling anyone who'll listen what happened to me. What's extraordinary is how many women do have similar stories to tell, dp had a work meeting with a personnel officer in his capacity as a trade union rep, she asked after me and he told her I'm feeling down about this issue, she told him her story. I have to say, I hope I'm not still feeling as raw in 16 years time as she seems to be.

Hope you'll make it to the group on Thursday and come back and tell us about it!

Kneehighinnappies · 07/08/2007 11:18

Hello all,
Got all my grouting done yesterday
So today rather than being stuckin in a smelly toilet I get to go outside and paint all the fences
Have to wait for my tesco shopping first hence the MN time.

All this sunshine is great i hope it lasts for a bit.
I am getting quite a nice little tan now.

normabutty · 07/08/2007 11:54

Morning folks,

Not much going on here...I'm soo bored. Have read another chapter of Harry Potter. Think Erin's teeth are bothering her a bit today as she seems a bit grouchy and seems to want to sleep but won't let herself.

mammyjo · 07/08/2007 11:58

Hi all. Welcome Balletmum!!

Eca, no offence taken here. As Maveta said, this is our little safe haven to comment and not get slated for it. Besides that, the things you said were perfectly reasonable anyway. I seem to have a bit of thrush on one side and am freaking that it may put an end to my bf. So so dont want that to happen.

Eddas, look after yourself chick. I understand what you mean. I was on msn last night and dh made a comment about how much time I spend on the computer during the evening. Think I need to sort that out too. Take care xxx

Lazyemma, def go to the group. The worst that could happen is that its not your thing and you dont go again. Chances are you will meet some lovely people and make new friends Enjoy!

KHIN, god you are busy. How do you find the time. I need to grout my bathroom but have had the stuff sitting there for over a week already and done nothing with it.

maveta · 07/08/2007 12:03

Norma - Noah is the same, in fact I´ve just given him some paracetamol to see if that settles him. Poor babies.

And STOP TRYING TO MAKE ME BUY MORE NAPPIES!!

Better go before the tortilla burns x

oldhag · 07/08/2007 12:04

Thought a name change was in order after the age chat last night. I believe I was referred to as grandma at one point!!

oldhag · 07/08/2007 12:06

Tortilla - YUM!

Have the joyous task of taking Ffion for her final round of jabs today. Not looking forward to that as it is 3 injections Also have to drag ds along too as he is home with me. Will go armed with a few books and some crayons I think!

elkiedee · 07/08/2007 12:37

Eek, mammyjo, if you're an old hag what does that make me? I believe I'm about 5 years older than you!

Sexonlegs · 07/08/2007 12:51

I am listening to Radio 2 and they are talking about breast versus bottle. My blood is boiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

elkiedee · 07/08/2007 12:54

I really don't think I want to know which programme! DON'T let it get to you. Hugs.

maveta · 07/08/2007 13:02

turn it off!!!

Feeling pretty productive, two loads of laundry, tortilla made for dinner, bedroom tidied..erm baby looked after.. yes, a good morning.

Now off to finish pasta salad for lunch, dh due home any minute (how very 50s housewife of me...)

Katy44 · 07/08/2007 15:03

Hello

Katy44 · 07/08/2007 15:04

Oh so I can post, it keeps telling me I'm not logged in

Katy44 · 07/08/2007 15:04

Anyone here?

CaptainDippy · 07/08/2007 15:10

Hello! Back from being out in the sunny sun. Washing hung out & most of the Dysoning done, P currently on boob so hence one-handed MN!

DD2 was such a nightmare with feeding, I'd have been happy for her to eat anything at all tbh, breast or bottle. I was a right bf snob before I had her; now I totally understand why some people choose to ff. BF can be bloody hard work. We should be enjoying our precious bundles, not stressing over such petty issues!

CaptainDippy · 07/08/2007 15:11

Hi katy!

oldhag · 07/08/2007 15:13

Well said CD!!

Maveta, will you put your tortilla recipe on the recipe thread please? I remember once before you talking about one and I fancied it then too!

Elkie, the grandma stuff was on msn last night when it came to light that I was the oldest on there. Will be 34 in a few weeks time. Not old really I know, just taking the p**s!!
