emmymummy - I hope the sun shines in Cornwall all the time

Evening all.

Our bedtime routine isn't that great but we have evolved one of sorts over the last few weeks, much to my astonishment. We eat together fairly soon after dp gets home, D is bathed and we feed and read to him, then dp has a shower and comes down to get him to settle him upstairs. We are doing the lie with him till he goes to sleep bit though - I hope we're not still doing that when he's 3 but we probably will be!

Reading to him sounds a little bit mad for a 3 month old - I was told 6 weeks or so ago that my stepsister's son Charlie (dob March 2007) is read to every night and was surprised, but then tried it myself. I think D enjoys the interaction, and tbh, I think dp and I both quite enjoy it too, especially if it's an enjoyable story.

Since we started the bath and story thing D has been sleeping more and so have we. The only thing I'd like to be able to change is to make it all a bit earlier, but it's likely to go the other way when I go back to work, maybe sooner if Mike has to return to his real job which involves shifts (at the moment he's full time in the union office - lots of work and less pay because he loses shift allowances, but much nicer hours).

Norma, still fannying about with msnn, but will email you with the email address I am using soon.

We have got into a routine with K as we did with B. Bath at about 7.15, bottle in room with light down at 7.30, and in to cot by 8.00 at the latest. She is rarely asleep, but I leave the room, close the door and thankfully she finds her thumb and sucks until asleep God love her!

B generally is good at bedtime, and very rarely comes back out of her room.

The above can only happen if dh is home otherwise it goes tits up as B refuses to stay downstairs whilst I sort out K.

Evening all

Lovely bedtime pic Oooggs, in fact all your pics are lovely.

I'm trying to ignore g grizzling in the next room in his cot. At the mo it's taking 2.5 hours to settle him at night.

Didn't manage to ignore him - just fed and cuddled again and am hoping this will settle him for a couple of hours.

I am sooo tired I've forgotten most of what I've read today. Off to visit friends in Manchester tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow evening I'll be able to come on and make more sense.

Goodnight x.

Katy44 · 06/08/2007 22:01

Katy44 · 06/08/2007 22:05

Yey for Baileys!!

Hello BalletMum - Your little bubba was born the day before my DD3!

Oooooh, ooooh, oooooh - how updated my profile at long last - lots and lots of lovely photos on there for you to look at now - yippee!

Katy44 · 06/08/2007 22:09

BalletMum - here's a link to some info about us and when we gave birth, if you fancy a loooong read one night
Are you back at work then? What do you do?

oooggs · 06/08/2007 22:11

captain dippy - great photos - I'm not brave enough to put any of me on!!!!

Katy44 · 06/08/2007 22:13

Oooh Dippy that one of Phoebe at (I assume) a few seconds old has brought tears to my eyes. I wish we had one like that, our first is of me feeding him, and he's all swaddled anyway so it could be a doll

oooggs · 06/08/2007 22:13

welcome balletmum - what are you children called?

Katy44 · 06/08/2007 22:15

That reminds me - memory like a sieve - oooggs I loved the one of the twins in their cot - they look huge!! Is that actually how they sleep (diagonal) or did you put them like that for the photo? I'm just curious, because I can't see how it would work, T is constantly flinging his arms around, do they not end up hurting each other?

BalletMum · 06/08/2007 22:15

Hi everyone, will read thread thanks. I am a Ballet Teacher (hence the name!!) I start back at work in September not sure I am ready to leave her yet. But needs must I guess.

CaptainDippy · 06/08/2007 22:16
