So compo, are you joining my club?! Hope you get the news you're hoping for...

All ticking along nicely here. DS running around everywhere now. Is becoming more and more 'himself' every day. He's quite a defiant little thing - just laughs at me when I try to tell him 'no' for anything. DH says he gets it from me! I suppose he does have a point. Its a virgo thing.

Glad you all had/are having good holidays. Only 6 weeks til ours. Can't wait!

compo · 26/09/2007 09:18

Think I should find out at the end of next week.
I really don't want to be pregnant and will be pretty gutted if I am. I don't feel that I cope very well with two, let alone three!!
Cori -I had forgotten you are on holiday, hope you are having a lovely time

oh compo - keep us posted!

Happy hols cori!! hope you are enjoying yourself.

Well following on from my 'shoe problems' with DS2, I took him back to Clarks to be re-measured, i was very unhappy with his shoes, as I was convinced they were too small.
Well, he was remeasured and bearing in mind that 2 weeks previously they'd sold me a pair of size 3 shoes, he was measured as a 4.5!!! I could not believe it and was really annoyed and guilty as i'd been cramming his feet in these shoes and thinking it was him not being used to wearing them.
He now has shoes that fit anyway, and is walking everywhere, the crawling is getting less and less. In some ways i'm sad because i do love it when they crawl and it is quite a short phase, on the other hand I'm glad that I don't have to carry him everywhere and can put him down, especially now the weather is getting wet and the ground is muddy.

I thnk we've made up with the in-laws, although after our suggestion of us popping over when it was convenient for us was met with her saying that it wasn't really convenient for them (so obviously we didn't bother going round), she then told me she'd waited in for us! arrrggghhh!

Hello all!

Had a lovely holiday & now have a severe case of the blues! It's so depressing to come home to winter duvet, heating on, leaves falling...grrrr. I would love to go back & live in Spain but having much trouble convincing DH!! Very proud of DD who ate everything we did..calamari, clams, gambas etc...quite amazed!

The only thing that still baffles & agrivates me big time are those English people that go abroad who just have to wear their football shirts, Union Jack swimming shorts, start drinking beer at 9am, complain about local food & customs....& fail time & time again to put any bloody sun protection on...WHY do they do it?!

J is still showing no signs of walking or "normal crawling"..just bum shuffles everwhere at great speed! Likes to be more on his feet & seems much steadier but not really interested to take it any further! Still has 4 teeth & seems to have been teething badly fopr the past 2 weeks but there are no more coming..yet. He has a better tan than his mother! That was with factor 50+!!!! DD very pasty...quite a contrast between them..

compo...dare I ask how are you?!

fairysnuff · 01/10/2007 22:48

OOh Mabel, I meant to say at the shoe shop sending your DS out with shoes too small for him!!
Hope they took them back and refunded!!?

My DD took 2-3 steps just before her birthday, we were all so pleased, she did it when PIL were visiting, so they got to see it
But now, she has decided that even standing is not for her
Oh, no that is not quite true, she likes to stand on her own, but if I take her hands to help her walk, she just collapses her legs! Then wimpers to get up into my arms!?

Ah well, you canna worry She will do it in her own good time, and she is showing herself to be a very independantly minded little girl, so no point in rushing her.

That little innocent face as she pushes the food slowly out of her mouth with her tongue, all the while keeping her eyes firmly on me

fairysnuff · 01/10/2007 22:54

auch, I Know coriander
Why do these people leave this island only to complain that they are not at home and it is hot???

uh, Duh!!??

I keep telling DH that he needs to be looking for work in France. I would be off like a shot!
Ok I might have to learn a little more french but I would learn on the go. I understood most of it when we went for our honeymoon, just couldn't speak it so well. DH could though, so we made a good team

compo · 02/10/2007 12:03

Just waiting for AF to arrive Coriander

dd not walking either or pulling herself up on things.
She is teething loads at the moment, very grouchy! She likes to have food put in her mouth and then shake her head vigorously until it fals out again. Any attempt to get her to eat anything herself just ends up on the floor. Can't wait until I can leave her with a plate of fod like i can ds. Find mealtimes so boring at the moment!

OP posts:
fairysnuff · 02/10/2007 22:53

Oh, I know! DD has decided to stop feeding herself too.
I have to spoon feed her everything or it all ends on the floor. When I say 'DD?' she just shakes her hand, signing 'doggy'
'No, your food is not to be thrown for the doggy!'

Can't believe the games!

Sorry about the teething though. Not nice when they are off sorts is it?

When is AF due?
Would you be happy? By that I mean it wasn't planned? What number would that be? Sorry, bad memory.

mabel1973 · 03/10/2007 09:41

Fairy - they exchanged the shoes! LOL at your DD feeding the dog. Ds2 leans over in his high chair trying feed the cat pieces of toast!

My news is - I got tickets to see the spice girls!!! woo hooo! can't wait to see posh in the flesh (what flesh!!) am intrigued is she really that wierd looking!

zmandaz · 03/10/2007 20:29

I;ve tried all sorts to get DD to eat use her own spoon/fork but she's lazy and likes to be spoon fed. She's fine with finger foods but the minute she has anything that requires a spoon, she's just not interested. I guess she'll do it when she's ready.

She's still not walking yet either although she's managed to stand unaided for a few seconds at a time. She obviously wants to do it, she just can't work out the balance yet. It's funny to watch though.

Unfortunately, DD has come down with yet another cold which seem to come whenever she's got a tooth coming through. She's been quite poorly with it this time and I'm just keeping everything crossed that I don't get it myself. It's horrid when they're ill though.

Coriander73 · 04/10/2007 20:15

the Spice Girls...?!! LOL at "what flesh"..too right..how is it possible after three sections she has an iron board for a stomach?! - oh, yes that would be the nip & tuck.....grrr...not that I'm bitter & twisted you understand!!!!!!

I actually joined up to the local running club yday.... I need to do something as I am fast running (no pun intended) out of money to use the trainer at the gym & can't motivate myself to train on my own so thought I'd give it a go. Obviously the sight of me wearing a high vis jacket come Winter & throwing up into the kerb after just a few yards wont be a pretty specticle....but needs must!!!!!!! Very out of character to think about running...I'm more of a pilates /swimming kind of girl....hmmmmm I'll have to fish out my rather fetching sweatbands I had circa 1985-6...dayglo ones with WHAM & Relax ingraved on them...oh dear...

I do have to say......I love being a SAHM...never thought I'd hear myself utter those words.. (When I think of work I feel nothing: just glad I'm no longer involved with office politics, budgets, targets, travel, business twats, profit margins..etc - it all seems so shallow & insignificant) However goes without saying that I miss the salary...POOR BUT HAPPY..

compo..well???!!!!!!

mabel1973 · 05/10/2007 10:22

cori - i would like to point out that i was never a fan of the spice girls, but when my friend texted me on monday to ask me if i wanted to go with the girls, i just thought - why not! it'll be a laugh, so I'm really looking forward to it!

I am glad to hear you are enjoying being a SAHM - I know excatly what you mean about feeling nothing! However I did get a twinge a couple of weeks ago in town, when I saw all these suited and well heeled ladies going to M&S for their lunch, I just thought, I miss wearing nice clothes, i live in jeans now, but if the only thing i miss is the clothes, it's hardly a reason to return to work!!

I am going to attend an open day at a local college in a couple of weeks, in the hope of enrolling on a horticultural course, it is something I've always wanted to do, and see this time in my life as an opportunity for a complete career change.

good luck with the running - you are a braver woman than me - I am happy sticking to my yoga!

Oh and i just found out DH has been promoted at work

Coriander73 · 05/10/2007 13:37

Mabel, I think you'll have a great time...I did try & get tickets for TT (for the same reasons..& some of their stuff is good & reminds me of a few drunken nights at Uni!!) but to no avail...have a ball!

Congrats on DH promo!!! That's great news... Totally understand about the dressing up! Like you I just live in my jeans & the same old. Sometimes I wish I could put on my suits because I did feel great in them but there you are! I really do need to get some nice winter clothes but oh dear, just where to start???? I feel in need of a T & S makeover...I do have legs somewhere!!!! I really don't know what I am supposed to wear anymore.....

I think compo was due on today...compo where are you?????

compo · 05/10/2007 14:13

Sorry girls to keep you all hanging on
AF arrived safe and well today - PHEW!!
Dh still refuses a vasectomy so now i'm seriously considering sterilisation!!
ooh the Spice Girls - some of my frineds are going to but the tickets are so expensive - either £55 or £75 she was offered!
Would love a nip and tuck here....

OP posts:
Coriander73 · 05/10/2007 15:12

Well thank goodness for that then...

compo · 07/10/2007 11:32

thanks
Isn't the weather lovely for a change?
Dh has taken the dcs to Asda (more fool him on a Sunday morning!) so instead of tidying up like i'm supposed to be doing i'm on here whilst drinking coffee and eating biscuits. Very naughty but he worked yesterday so this is my only day of getting any help. The weekends just fly past don't they?!!

Hi all! I wanted to quickly, quickly check in - life is crazy for me right now (as you might have guessed, b/c otherwise I like to keep up with you!! )

We just put in an offer on a house after a 2-day marathon house hunting trip; plane back to here in AR landed a few hours ago - they've accepted our offer. DS1 said he liked this house b/c it has a "secret room" (bookcase slides over to reveal a small room behind the wall). So he's very excited

There's a neighborhood pool, and that's good because, while you all get to enjoy a real winter, I can tell you that right now, stepping out into an early October afternoon in Houston is, essentially, stepping into a hot wet sauna.

We are not really moving back to "Houston" proper, but instead to The Woodlands, a smaller town about an hour north of Houston. Our urban friends are trying to pinch themselves awake (that we'd want to move there), but it reminds us of Arkansas; lots and lots of trees.

Must run; I am so sorry I have not been a good Aug2006 poster. When life settles down again.

(We've not yet sold our house, but DH's company made it clear we had to move ASAP; just are hoping for the best.)

Marls001 · 08/10/2007 04:17

LOL Cori - just realized how that sounded after your comment about holidays ...

Myrtle1 · 08/10/2007 12:35

Hello,

Mabel, I would love to do a horticultural course too.
We had our sitting room carpet fitted last week and it makes such a difference. I think we are turning into granny and grandad as I came across DH yesterday sitting on the settee, legs crossed, slippers on reading the paper while supping a large cup of tea He has started saying things like "ghastly weather" too! Its very funny, he's only 27 would you believe.
I'm waiting to hear back about joining a latin and ballroom dance class at the mo. I'd love to do the latin and I've got the bug again now Strictly Come Dancing is back. Does anyone else watch it?

compo · 09/10/2007 09:31

Oh yes Myrtle, I love Strictly Come Dancing. I like to see the contestants all dressed up whilst sitting on my sofa in my PJs!!
Marls - your new house sounds fantastic. My dh would love a secret room, never mind ds!!
Anone started to think about Christmas presents yet?

We're thinking of getting this for dd

OP posts:
mabel1973 · 09/10/2007 21:24

Myrtle - so pleased strictly come dancing is back on - it's my all time fave programme - how sad is that.

DS has started doing boo, except he puts his hands over his ears instead of his eyes - bless him!
He's also copying DS1 'washing 'himself in the bath and rubs his legs and tummy - so cute!

Coriander73 · 11/10/2007 08:54

I'M SO BROODY....someone remind me of how awful pg was & how much I said that I'd never ever do it again??!!!

Strictly come dancing is FAB!!!

Christmas pressies..hmmm just had a trawl through the ELC catalogue & I am not feeling very inspired! In-laws are buying DD a dolls house which she's been on about for days as for J..well maybe the garage thingy that you recommended before compo?

Am off to the shower & then I have to drop DD at playgroup

mabel1973 · 11/10/2007 11:46

cori - i would definately recommend a garage, our DS's are obsessed with DS1's that he had for his 2nd birthday.

Feel dreadful today, woke up with blurred vision, thought it was a bit odd, but felt ok, then that went to be replaced with cracking headache and nausea...looks like i've got a migraine, been so long since i've had one, goodness knows what's triggered it. so am off to bed, MIL has DS1 today, so am hoping DS2 will eat his lunch and go to bed for a couple of hours.

Coriander73 · 12/10/2007 10:19

Thanks Mabel....I've seen a wooden one I like that says 3-6 years but I can only assume it's becuase the cars have small wheels? Still very broody...we spoke about it again last night & DH got really cross & agitated with me. Said I knew when we got married that he only wanted two & I should forget it etc etc....I really though I only wanted two also but actually I'd love another... What to do with him? Maybe I should start a thread?!

compo · 12/10/2007 14:34

Aw, Corinader, it's not your fault you have changed your mind. I really hope your dh comes round as it can turn into an obsession and he should let you!! Definitely start a thread cos loads have been through similar.

That ELC garage is fab - dd plays with now and ds still does at 3.

Mabel - hope you are feeling better xxxx
