Hi Jen, and welcome. It's quite slow on here nowadays as we all run around after our LOs! My DS was born on 3rd Sep and I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with the next one...

Sad news from Bristols household. My Nan had a stroke last night, so we are off to Gloucester this afternoon to see her. Staying until Saturday so we'll see what happens. She's 87 and been pretty fit for most of her life so I hope she isn't poorly for long.

I think DS has another tooth coming. Mind you, I keep saying that and nothing appears. We have the runny nose, runny tummy and rosy cheeks though, so you never know.

Myrtle1 · 21/11/2007 13:30

Bristols, sorry to hear about your nan.
How is the pg going? Have you though of any names yet?
Jen, welcome My DS was born on 20th September.

Ds has another tooth coming as well. It is just poking through but he has been a bit miserable and desperate for cuddles (which I don't mind at all

tasha21 · 21/11/2007 23:31

hey havent posted in a while
is your nan any better bristols?
ds2 is a monster he barks for wat he wants and somehow i understand like we have learnt the language of dog with hand movements
yep teething here too, all of a sudden i'd feel a sharp pain in my leg, seems to be going on an awful long time compared to ds1. hes far too cute he throws things about alot and then gives me a big cheaky grin!
hey jen my ds2 was born on the 10th september

mabel1973 · 26/11/2007 11:48

hi all - we are quiet now aren't we!
I don't think i've been on for about 3 weeks.
Hope evryone is ok - how is your nan bristols?

I have had a trying couple of weeks, DS1 has been ill with a cough and waking in the night, DS2 is teething, with 3 molars and 2 on the sides, so he has been suffering, but seems to whine endlessly at the moment. we all have colds, so feel generally run down and tired. I have found myself really snapping lately and I regret it straight away, i know it's pointless to shout, but i feel like they push me to the limit sometimes.
it is ds1's 3rd birthday on saturday and we are having a party at one of those soft play places. I have got to make a Dumper truck cake for him - so feel free to check out my thread entitled 'DS1 has asked for a dumper truck cake -HELP'!!!

Coriander73 · 28/11/2007 10:22

Hello!!!! Sorry, I've been finding it hard to get a minute to myself to get on MN!

J has at 14 & half months finally decided to roll over?!?!!! He also climbs the stairs, climbs everywhere infact but not walking yet!Is enjoying pushing the trolley around etc but hopefully it will be before Jan...as that's when we're off skiing! Dreading Christmas but counting down the days until the clocks go foward....

Anybody else pg, thinking of getting pg, broody?!!!!!

fairysnuff · 28/11/2007 22:44

Hi all, I haven't popped my head in here for absolutely ages!!
It got so quiet for a while there. Nice to see some new faces too.
DD is walking well now, I thought she would never get round to it. People kept saying,'don't worry she will get to it in her own time.' But you still hanker after it being sooner rather than later don't you?
I haven't a clue how heavy she is now a days, how heavy is 12 kilos in old school (sorry, I can't find who said that, must be looking too hard!)
She has a few sounds but no real words at all is that bad? Well, she has 'caaaa' for cat, which is a constant!
I am not too worried, she has lots of signs that she uses now so it is brilliant to see them in use and to be able to understand her demands.
And, yes, demanding!! Blimey! What a temper in Tesco the other day! I tried to move to a new ailse but she was not happy, I had a screaming child trying to pull her hand away and push mine away with the other!! I was so shocked I just giggled, and picked her up! She was, of course, happy in the new ailse!
So good to hear it is not that I have big trouble on my hands but that you are all getting similar behaviour.

Oops sorry for the mega long ramble!

I am still trying to be the next one to announce a pregnancy (Is it still only Bristols? 26 weeks wow!!) but it is not going to plan at all
4 months now
We did get a chemical one last month though. That was poo, all the symptoms but no result!
But perhaps it will bode well for this month? That would make it exactly 2 years between them. Where has the time gone!

tasha21 · 29/11/2007 09:50

hi all, put my tree up last night and ds is currently destroying it.fairysnuff had the same problem as you yesturday, went to witherspoons for lunch and ds started tantrum and screeming, everyone was staring, had to wait outside with him until lunch was ready, very embarassing.
my lo is 13 weeks old now and ds2 is very jealous, hope your lo will be beter bristols and good luck fairysnuff

bristols · 29/11/2007 10:40

Hi all. My Nan sadly died on Tuesday. Having said that, it was a very peaceful death and it was lovely that she got to see all her family before the end. The funeral is a week tomorrow.

To add to all the stress, my FIL is pretty poorly now, too. Dh is going to go to Manchester tomorrow to see him. I'm not sure whether DS and I will go yet. It's such a long way (at least a 4 hour drive) and it's not easy with DS being into absolutely everything and being 28 weeks pg. It's very hard to keep DS entertained now. He certainly doesn't like sitting still!

tassisssss · 03/12/2007 18:16

bristols, so sorry to hear about your nan. How's your FIL? You must be exhausted.

Cori, the way you asked if anyone else was pregnant, follwed by those 2 grins, just made me wonder if you were trying to tell us something? Were you?!

I'm delighted to announce that Lucy's set to become a big sister in June. We're 12 weeks at last. I feel like I've known forever and have been so anxious. Anyway, we've had a scan and we're telling people now. I feel very very sick (didn't really have this the last 2 times) which is grim. We're thrilled (though sometimes I look at lucy, my baby, and wonder if we're off our heads!).

bristols · 03/12/2007 18:56

Congratulations Tassissss! Great news. Hope the MS starts to get better soon.

FIL was actually better than we thought he would be so that's a relief. You're right, I am exhausted! Back to Glos on Friday for my Nan's funeral then that's it until the new year. I'm not going anywhere!

Spent the afternoon with two friends from my RL post natal group today. Was really nice to see the boys playing together and, on the whole, they got on really well. We were thinking of where we were this time last year. It seems so long ago, yet has gone by in a flash!

mabel1973 · 07/12/2007 11:45

Bristols - so sorry to hear about your Nan.But glad to hear your FIL is better than expected.
Tasiss - congrats!!!! I could not contemplate another one at the moment. We always said we'd have three - i am struggling to cope with 2! We are finally comiong out of the other side of a really difficult couple of weekss. I took Ds1 to the doctors on monday and he is on antibiotics now for an ear and chest infection and Ds1's 6 teeth (4 molars!) are now through, so I have (touch wood) managed to finally get a good nights sleep - phew!

Cori - i need you! DH has decided to take us to Barcelona for a long weekend (minus kids) next march - it is his 30th, and it will be a late 4th wedding anniversary present. So need your spanish expertise....can you recommend a good reasonably priced hotel, good restaurants (especially tapas!)...best places to visit? Thanks!

bristols · 08/12/2007 20:59

Mabel - Barcelona is fantastic. Went there a few years ago and loved it. There's an article about it in today's travel section in the sun which might give you a bit of an idea. We got the Lonely Planet guide book which was really helpful.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend. Miserable, wet and windy here.

JingleBelle · 08/12/2007 21:39

Tassisssss CONGRATS ! That is lovely news.
Bristols, sorry to hear about your nan, but glad to hear your FIL is doing better and that pg is going well.
I am EXTREMELY broody at the mo' and even Mabel's comments about the nights with one dc ill and one dc teething don't put me off! ... But, DH has only just got his head round another child, so don't feel it fair that we start trying just yet, but we will most likely start trying in new year - I want to get fit and toned again before pg - at least to pre-pg weight, which is all my own fault, as I keep eating chocolate! (I think that because we conceived 1st time last time, it's scarier, but that won't necessarily happen next time...).
Fairy, I'm sure it will happen for you soon.
I have lots of pg friends at the mo', most with their first and all looking blooming - it really makes me think what a beautiful and natural state pg is - yes, I am on my second glass of wine, hence the waffle... I have stuck to cutting out choc today, but it is a Saturday, so the wine is my giving in to my demons.
I think I can just about keep up with the pace on here nowadays, it has definitely quietened off.
DS is just so lovely at the moment (wine is blocking out memories of whinginess !) - he started walking while we were on hols and is just off into everything, but loves nothing more than to just play with me or DH - he will play on his own if we're doing stuff, but really just loves company and is so cheeky - I was trying to tell him off for ripping up a video box this evening and he just thrust his face towards me with a cheeky grin on it and it was all I could do not to laugh out loud!
Anyway, enough ramble from me...
Hope you're all well.
Jingle
P.S. Tassisssss, I was really nauseous (infrequently actually sick) with DS and I didn't even fancy water, but my mum suggested lucozade and I found that I could alternate berry lucozade sips with water and that helped - just a thought. For me it passed at 16 weeks, if that helps get you through the next weeks?!

Coriander73 · 13/12/2007 20:49

Hello everyone...!!!! So sorry I've been so slack on here...just haven't seemed to have a moment to catch up on phone calls / emails / MN / life!

Firstly Tassissss...WOW...CONGRATULATIONS!!!! ...how exciting!! No, I am not pg & as my DH has just said (spotting that I was about to get on MN for the first time in ages!) "have you got that silly idea out of your head about number three?!".....well, not entirely although today I felt incapable of lookign after two let alone three - one of those couped up days as a SAHM that I so love....! So sick eh? Obviously it's another girl!! I was so much sicker with DD than with J....

Mabel..Barcelona how exciting!! It's one of my favourite places in Spain.. Have you booked anything since you posted? I've just read your message (some 6 days after) so would like to give it some thought...perhaps I can email you at the yahoo account?

DD was an Angel in the nativity play today!!!! Very cute..

Perhaps we need to start a new thread???!!!! The title is not so apt anymore...what do you think?

(Mabel...let me know..asap!)

mabel1973 · 16/12/2007 22:32

Hi Cori - not done anything re:barcelona yet, so an info would be great. I don't know if I can remember my password to get back on yahoo, been so long since i've been on there..but any info would be great (maybe i should start a thread and you can post on there, to avoid boring everyone else with my holiday plans!!

went to see Spice Girls last night - was amazing! they were really really good, Still don't think posh can sing or dance, although the whole crowd cheered everytime she sang a note!

DH has mentioned having no.3 and said sooner rather than later, I am enjoying not being pg or BF for the 1st time in 3 years, so am reluctant to entertain the idea, and i have a place on my hortcultural course for next september. We have been a bit slack re: contraception though...ooops!

twinklingfairy · 26/12/2007 21:33

Merry Christmas everybody!
Wow, 2nd Christmas's already!! Wasn't it fun to see them open their presents this year (and all of ours too)?
Still waiting for my BFP. Hopefully 2008 will be my year for #2

Hope you all have fantastic new years celebrations!!

Coriander73 · 04/01/2008 13:10

Mabel mabel...I'm so sorry it's taken so long to get back on here...! I can't chat now either as am in blind panic cleaning the house & packing as we're all off skiing tomorrow with the inlaws!!! Do check out www.barcelona.com which is a fab website...I'll post back later tonight!!!!!

Happy New Year to you all...

x

mabel1973 · 04/01/2008 19:48

don't panic cori - i haven't been on since i wrote that! In fact what a coincidene that I have finally managed to get on tonight and you are about!
hope everyone had a good xmas?

I have booked flights now, so just looking for a hotel. My bro suggested atanea mar hotel which is near the port, he stayed there on his stag do and it is quite reasonable and is apparantly quite good for eating places round there?, but means using the metro to get in to the centre.
What would you suggest cori? we don't mind using metro. Please post with your suggestions.
Also sorry everyone else for boring you!

Coriander73 · 04/01/2008 22:27

Hola Mabel...(sorry..a bit cheesy!!)......

Right...I would say that anywhere around the port is good and / or the "Ramblas"..but that is more expensive! I always stayed in "business" hotels when I was out there which tbh I wouldn't recommend as they are so sterile. If you can see what deals are around for "Las Ramblas" or near the "Plaza de Catalunya"...both are in the heart of the city. Alternatively why not try renting a studio flat? Could be cheaper & more pratical. The Ramblas is just a fab area with loads of great shopping & more importantly Tapas!! I would make a visit to the "Barrio Gotico" where you have fab museums, churches, other historical buildings etc (much influence from Antonio Gaudi..."sagrada familia" "parc guell" etc The port was totally renovated when they had the 1992 Olympics & is worth a visit (if you aren't staying there). Barceloneta is fantastic for food..esp. fish!....It really depends how long you are there for & what you want out of it? If museums / art etc isn't your thing then you can always shop, eat & maybe head to the beach! There are loads of good websites around other then barcelona.com (www. bcn.es is good, lonely planet, rough guide etc)

Barcelona is more expensive than it used to be..perhaps the most expensive city in Spain but not more so than the UK in my honest opinion. Don't be put off by Catalan!! They all speak Spanish...!

HTH...not much advice as such as I don't really know what you are after! I was there every other week or so when working but tended to be on the outskirts visiting suppliers etc but always ate out in the city...esp. the port area. It is a great city...!

Am still packing.....

mabel1973 · 06/01/2008 10:43

thanks cori

we are only having a long weekend...so am thinking that we would be better situated in the centre nr the ramblas rather than out by the port, so we can go out and be straight in the centre of things. I really want to vivit that market onthe rambla ...la bouquria or something??? anyway, thanks for your advice...happy skiing!

JingleyJen · 18/01/2008 14:46
