Just running to say have been having a huge ongoing battle with the neighbours re drains which are leaking into our house. So for the smell and hygiene reasons it is a BIG problem, especially as though they don't seem to give a stuff.

This has been going on for 4 months.

Everything has come to a head this week, with us having to report them and take action with the Environmental Health Dpt. These are neighbours who we would usually get on with.

Anyway to cut a long story short they have finally taken action only to discover major faults with ALL their pipes, drains and sewage. To the extent that the joists are rotten through. They need major work doing which is now in the process of getting done.

So at long last we seem to be getting somewhere.

Would love to stay and chat and catch up but will do at the weekend, hopefully.

Hope everyones well and looking forward to catching up on news, bye!

Katy44 · 20/07/2007 09:47

Oh no Pinions - lets hope it gets sorted for good! Were they flooded - is that why it's all come to a head?

CaptainDippy · 20/07/2007 09:56

Glad it is getting sorted Pinions honey!

DD3 will wake up any second, but just thoguht I owuld post quicklt 1st to say hello again!! Rotten weather here. So soft play this PM, me thinks ....

EmmyMuggle · 20/07/2007 10:02

Morning - quiet here today. Are you all out enjoying the monsoon season that's just started?

WO - you are amazing for continuing to bf - if that had been me I'd have chickened out long ago. The nurses are utterly ridiculous for suggesting you're being selfish, incredible. Hope the pain improves and you start to heal .

Pinions - glad you're getting somewhere with your neighbours and their drains, especially with all this blardy rain!!!

Just had to do the school run in the torrential rain - never seen it like this. Rushed Em into school with S wrapped in a blanket in my arms, us under a brolly, then stood outside school waiting for the rain to ease off so we could make our way back home. It didn't ease off, but got worse. And whenever there was a burst of thunder I could hear all the kids in school screaming (mostly in delight rather than fear). Made me giggle!

And whilst you're talking about school reports, can I share some of E's with you, as I am such a proud mummy! Her teacher wrote "Emily is a bright and sunny child who has made a really positive contribution to the life of the class. Her input to our class agreement was to draw a row of brightly coloured flowers to cheer everyone up when they felt unhappy!". Awwwww!

Katy44 · 20/07/2007 10:16

Ahh Emmy - what a lovely comment

CaptainDippy · 20/07/2007 10:37

What a sweetheart - make all those grumpy, impetuious moments seem almost worthwhile, eh!!?

Pinions · 20/07/2007 10:43

Email sent to you all.

Is it Friday yet?

Just about sums it up for me !

(And TF it is Friday).

EmmyMuggle · 20/07/2007 11:08

Very cute Pinions. TFI Friday indeed - my get up and go has got up and gone today .

Pinions · 20/07/2007 11:17

Likewise. Put it down to hormones emmy.

Pinions · 20/07/2007 11:19

(Can I have my pregnant hormones back please?)

Just leave out the sickness ones.

bumble75 · 20/07/2007 11:21

Morning all,

No rain in Edinburgh yet - just dreary, cloudy and freezing!!!!!!!! Only a matter of time till the rain starts...

WO - so at the nurses - how dare they say you're being selfish. I hope you're healing and sending a big hug your way, you're doing brilliantly.

Pinions - glad your drain is getting sorted.

Emmy - what a gorgeous comment to get on Em's report!

Going to meet a couple of friends from work for lunch and taking L into office... she is currently asleep, what are the chances of her staying that way in the office and throughout lunch???

Then MIL coming over this afternoon to hang out which should be nice. Her visit was all arranged by her and dh which I find a bit odd, if she wants to visit me can she not speak to me on the phone? Esp since I am the one who has to pick her up from train station... Don't get me wrong, am happy to see her but am puzzled as to why she speak to me to arrange....

Anyway, sorry for ramble - hope everyone has a good day despite the rain.
x

Sexonlegs · 20/07/2007 11:46

Pouring with rain here. I am so peed off with it. . It is so draining isn't it when there is constant rain and no sun.

Bumble, enjoy your mil !

EmmyMuggle · 20/07/2007 11:54

Hi SOL. Can I steal your 'knackered' if you no longer need it?

AngeG · 20/07/2007 12:02

Hi all

Hope everyone is ok.All is well here.

Beth had her last day of preschool today She doesnt seem bothered Im the one who's upset. Still she is really positive about starting school in september so that can only be a good thing.

The big question is how to keep her entertained for six weeks when the weather is this terrrible! answers on a postcard please to.......

Anyway suppose i had better go feed A.

take care everyone xx

normabutty · 20/07/2007 13:19

Hi Tili, nice to 'see' you, glad everything's well with you!

Sexonlegs · 20/07/2007 14:40

EM, you are most welcome to my knackered! Lovely report on Em by the way - really sweet.

Bramshott · 20/07/2007 14:46

Ooh, did I make tip of the day?!? And I wasn't on yesterday so I missed my 15 minutes of fame! Glad it worked for you Katy (tip btw) is to put the hoover on when your baby is screaming - either they are calmed and go to sleep, or you can't hear them anyway and manage to hoover your floors!).

My god there has been a lot of rain today! Hope everyone is okay. We survived the leavers picnic yesterday, and actually I was strangely unemotional when it came to it - must be because the current pre-school management couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery so the whole thing was shambolic rather than touching !

Thought popped into my head at 11.30 last night - Pinions - how's it going with the bottle? I need to swap O over in a few weeks time so I will be coming to you for tips!

Have a good weekend ladies!

JoMa · 20/07/2007 14:53

you did bramshott
shame you missed it!
doesn't work in my house, Matthew is scared of the hoover so screams and jumps on chairs, upsetting Joe in the process. damned child
