new thread, sorry for the unimaginative title!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 06/07/2007 13:44

Sorry MRR is being bad. I'm sure it'll get better once Emily is a bit more interesting and a bit less delicate. If it's any consolation Alice is being a little shit lately as well. I really feel for you having to deal with it on your own (((hugs)))!

trendaverter · 06/07/2007 13:47

He's still scraming...it's been going since about 9am but I Did get a good sleep so shouldn't complain.

bloody colic

My HV is coming over again soon, I think she is lonely, I don't mind, she's very nice, we chat over a cup of tea.

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 06/07/2007 14:37

Right, living room was tidy, but Alice has just tipped out all her crayons on the floor, so I am now beyond caring.

Has he stopped crying yet TA? If he hasn't put him in a room where you can't hear him and have 5 mins to yourself. It sounds harsh, but if he has been crying for that long you will be at the end of your tether and need a break. I had to do it this morning, I went out in the garden and left William crying for a couple of mins. Hope you are ok.

trendaverter · 06/07/2007 14:41

I leave him for longer than that, oops

If I didn't I would never get to eat/drink/pee etc

He's calm at the minute but usually this calmness only lasts for 5 minutes!

trendaverter · 06/07/2007 14:42

oh and Holly I think you are safe from social services, my HV came over yesterday to see the dog licking DS's hand so I wouldn't worry about crayons and washing

foxybrown · 06/07/2007 14:43

Just had MW round, DD very curious about where her hand was! 3rd sweep and now bouncing on my ball.

things change when the baby starts responding to the older ones IME. Gets easier when they realise they can make baby smile, ahhhh.

have a scan booked in for Monday.

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 06/07/2007 14:44

I had to have a bath this morning with William screaming at me. It was not relaxing! Fingers crossed your peace and quiet lasts. When's the HV coming? She sounds lovely. Mine is coming any minute, hope she is nice too!

foxybrown · 06/07/2007 14:45

I frequently have to poo with a 2.5 yo trying to climb on my knee

no we don't have a lock on the door, the little buggers would lock themselves in.

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 06/07/2007 14:46

LOL at your dd foxy! Hope the sweep works. Did you tell the mw off for being a big fat lier? Getting your hopes up telling you that you were going to have a baby the other day and then nothing!

foxybrown · 06/07/2007 14:47

Different midwife. The other one went off camping this weekend. Hope she gets trench-foot

trendaverter · 06/07/2007 14:48

Hey Foxy, it beats taking a book into the loo

The HV should have been here 15 minutes ago - it's her day off, she is popping over anyway though, she is lovely. I am sure yours will be much the same, I think it's a job requirement!

She was asking me yesterday what birth was like as she is hoping to get pregnant herself soon.

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 06/07/2007 14:48

Alice has a toilet roll fetish. I think she was an andrex puppy in a former life! I have to try and go to the loo and try and stop her stealing the toilet roll otherwise it ends up shredded and spread round the house!

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 06/07/2007 14:50

I hope she gets frost bite foxy and all her toes fall off, entirely possible in this weather!

trendaverter · 06/07/2007 14:50

My god and I thought my pup was bad
LOL@ trench foot though ;-)

I have to say - you ladies with more than one LO - HOW DO YOU DO IT?!

trendaverter · 06/07/2007 14:52

something awful happened to me today
I got my period
WTF!?

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 06/07/2007 14:52

Gritted teeth and lots of shouting TA! Thankfully William is a much nicer baby than Alice. He is much calmer and cries less. She was awful, screaming all the time and feeding constantly. I have to say if I'd have had another like her I think I'd have lost it long ago!

BrownSuga · 06/07/2007 14:53

TA I hope you're feeling better, was reading the old thread, not read through this one.

Sugacube is pretty good, but when he is inconsolable, after checking the usual things, I put him on my chest and lie on the couch, seems to be his fav position. and I sing a little made up song so he can hear my voice and helps calm him. (generally about the day so far, may help to get the frustration out, like why don't you stop crying you little git, tralalalala, all in a nice, calm voice)

Plus you also get a wee rest at the same time.

Hope things are looking rosier for you.

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 06/07/2007 14:54

OMG TA! Already! That's pretty shit.

trendaverter · 06/07/2007 14:56

I know!!
Funny though

I was SO not expecting it, but then again I didn't BF so I guessed it might come quicker?

Argh he's yelling again, I might see if he wants feeding this time.

trendaverter · 06/07/2007 15:01

Oh Daisy you mentioned earlier about the new teats -
HV recommended taking him off infacol and trying Dentinex(spelling?) instead, and trying NUK teats instead of avent ones.

I must admit both seem to have made a difference - he is still yelling, but not so inconsolably (ie, he stops when I pick him up) and he's easier to calm down, also his bowels seem to be working more often again so I presume he's in less pain.

All in all - colicy baby, try dentinox, different teats, and also offering water between feeds.

I asked about changing formula but this was not recommended (yet) as it comes with its own problems and I asked about lactose intolerance but apparently it's not common really and so to try other solutions first, which I agree with. So far so good!

foxybrown · 06/07/2007 15:05

Oh god! You could get pregnant TA!!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/07/2007 15:15

Ouch TA that's awful...I would've thought you had at least six weeks. I don't want to alarm you, but are you sure its your AF and not just a resumption of lochia....I've still not stopped from when I had DD and that was four and a bit weeks ago. I would mention it to the HV as they tell you to get in touch if your post partum bleeding gets worse as this could be due to retained tissue.

holly, how much milk do you get if you express and how much EBM do they need in one go? apparently DD wolfed down 2oz straight away earlier, then mucked about and took the other oz about half an hour later when I got back....

Oh, and Holly...I still haven't got your e-mail with your address....go on fess up, you think I'm some kind of stalking nutter don't you?

riabutterflew · 06/07/2007 15:30

ARSE. bloody friday again.

Had a lovely nap this morning. but it's gone downhill since then. My parents are away for the weekend - how the hell am I going to cope

trendaverter · 06/07/2007 15:37

I thought it might be lochia but I stopped bleeding a few days ago and this morning I got period pains and fresh blood - which I am told is period!?

Have bought condoms. Planned to resume jiggy jiggy this weekend, but am taking no chances!

HV came over but I was changing nappy and didn't hear the door knock so I missed her She left a note though saying she'll be back monday.

trendaverter · 06/07/2007 15:39

LOL Foxy I could be on the 'Due in April 08 thread' before you're on the PN thread

Sorry, cruel joke

Hey does anyone hear a baby crying when their baby is not crying? I think I am so used to hearing it it's now like a permanent sort of noise in my head, even when he's asleep
