thanks foxy, i am reading the no cry sleep solution so am going to give that a go first. tbh dd isn't a bad sleeper when she's not in pain, and things will be much better when i learn how to nap. it's just that killer feed sometime between 4 and 5.30 that gets me, and i start getting cranky at about 10pm if i haven't slept properly. i think I need the contented little parent book!

I want to hang washing out too jamantha! I havemore than I know what to do with!

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 05/07/2007 11:09

I have a baby massage book and there is a position in there for holding windy babies. You lay the baby on their front on the palm of your hand, with the heel of your hand on their tummy and balance them there. It sounds odd, but it worked for my dd!

bumperlicious · 05/07/2007 11:09

will the HV call social services if dd and I ar still jammied up in bed at 1 when she comes. I've decamped to the bedroom with 'puter, mags and some lunch. Is nice to eat without a background of yowling like yesterday!

i subscribed so i'll cat her. i've got her email address too.

unfortunately it was a one off on the dressing front. i laid out her vesr and jammies after her bath last night, but shhe just lay there shivering, lol

foxybrown · 05/07/2007 11:11

Bumper - just read in my CBB which I dusted off - that excessive dairy can cause wind too.

Lilkel - nothing much other than using the correct winding position of baby being sat upright on your knee, hand supporting on tummy and other hand rubbing back. not very helpful huh?

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 05/07/2007 11:13

I was in my jammies at lunch time when the mw came round at 12.30 the other day! William was also covered in chocolate and baked beans (Alice wiped her chocolatey mouth on him and I spilt beans on him when I was trying to eat my lunch and feed him at the same time!). I don't think she called SS so I think you'll be fine bumper!

foxybrown · 05/07/2007 11:13

Bumper, if you add 'clean your teeth once a day' to your list there I'd pretty much say you've cracked all you need to do at this point!

Stay in bed honey!

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 05/07/2007 11:14

Clean your teeth? How does that work?

lilKelBel · 05/07/2007 11:15

yeah not too helpful.

there are squirming sounds coming from the battery-operated swing though, and grunts (but no screams) so perhaps it is helping after all

i swear she's got a look on her face though that says "what the hell am I doing here?"

foxybrown · 05/07/2007 11:15

mouthwash - always a way to cut corners in everything

bumperlicious · 05/07/2007 11:15

Lilkel, is your LO's problem burpy wind in the tummy or wind in the gut? DD has terrible wind in her gut, it starts about an hour after her feed, so not sure whether conventional remedies help as it's not the same as getting wind from gulping down too much air, it seems to be a digestive problem.

OP posts:
lilKelBel · 05/07/2007 11:15

and excessive dairy causes wind? so all the formula I'm giving her must be the problem then? result!

bumperlicious · 05/07/2007 11:17

My mum keeps threatening to buy me one of those chairs, but we have no-where to put it!

OP posts:
foxybrown · 05/07/2007 11:17

Dur!

foxybrown · 05/07/2007 11:18

what about one of those vibrating bouncy chairs?

lilKelBel · 05/07/2007 11:20

Snap. Yeah bumper exactly wind in her gut, an hour or two after a feed! Sometimes she screams while trying to eat as well but I think it's cuz there's too much wind in her system rather than wind in her tummy cuz she only burps a little but her belly remains hard and she remains squirmy/uncomfortable.

someone asked about making dinner before, as in how do you manage it? sometimes I barely can, but when I do, it's because I use the afternoon naptime of DS and DD (sometimes it's only a few minutes while both are sound asleep at the same time) to prepare as much as I can ahead. Like washing veg, getting out the necessary pots/pans, etc. That way, once the kids are in bed there's not much to do other than just cook & eat. It's like the cooking shows on telly - much easier when all the prep work is done for you! Oh and also use as much pre-prepared stuff as your conscience & budget allows. No point chopping stir fry veg if you can get it ready made IYKWIM.

lilKelBel · 05/07/2007 11:22

so I'll feed her Guinness from now on. No more milk. Happy baby!!

My mum bought our battery-swing-chair for us too! We never would have done it cuz of lack of space. So it sits in our hall - v dangerous at night maneoevering around in the dark - but I can't toss it away or mum'll kill me!

Just switched on the vibrate function. Expression on face is bemused. But she's not crying........

bumperlicious · 05/07/2007 11:25

She was much better after the osteo last friday, it's only since yesterday it seems to have come back. Seeing him again tomorrow so hope he sorts her out. HV here in next couple of hours so will ask her too and let you know if she has any tips. We've tried infacol, but not sure it helps with the gut problem. The faces that DD pulls when she is suffering, if she wasn't in so much pain you'd have to laugh!

Let me know how the chair works out and if it helps will let my mum get one.

Jamantha · 05/07/2007 11:32

Well it's now 20 mins since I put C in her basket. I've just heard some whimpering but it has died away again. Normally if she gets to 20 mins without properly crying then it means she's settled properly, so fingers crossed. Of course, I've almost certainly just jinxed the whole thing by typing this.

Jamantha · 05/07/2007 11:34

And now have dilemma that I want to go to kitchen, which means walking past dining table where C's basket is. Can I do that, and set up steriliser and make myself a drink and snack without disturbing her??

lilKelBel · 05/07/2007 11:47

Jamantha, yes, you must! Otherwise you become hostage to your baby

Bumper - I posted a photo of my girl in her swing. You decide if she looks happy or not and it's worthwhile getting one. IMHO she appears a bit dead to the world...!

Tips from your osteo awaited with bated breath. My osteo doesn't seem to offer solutions really other than 'handle her gently.'

Jamantha · 05/07/2007 11:52

well i'm back with sandwich, yoghurt and drink Decided steriliser can wait a bit though, as that will be quite noisy to set microwave running and want to keep her asleep so I can get a little nap myself.

bumperlicious · 05/07/2007 12:14

Ahh lilkel, she is gorgeous, and what a pretty dress. this lo still has her pjs on and a cross look on her face!
