lol weddingcake at losing 3stone at 6 week point

my weight did the same.....dropped 18lbs in the first two weeks, then the last 10lbs not shifting. I'm gutted as i've been eating reasonably healthily...at first i was shotgunning whole mozarella cheeses.

my feet and ankles took over three weeks to get back to normal, and that was with DH doing a lymphatic drainage massage on them twice a day after i left hospital. (the nice MW who came to see me the day after i was discharged as my MW was off sick showed him how to do it)

i've only expressed once and got 3ozs, whatever that is in new money, with an avent hand pump, but i'm pretty sure she gets more than that each feed. She was feeding for 30-40 mins, but now gets through in about 10-20 mins. This is normal as their suck gets more efficient and they take more in each feed IIRC.

daisyandbabybootoo · 13/07/2007 19:23

thank you annobal....i'll definately take them off your hands.

e-mail winging its way to you

Jamantha · 13/07/2007 21:07

weddingcake - my LO also tends to fall asleep at the breast after about 10 mins. I prod and poke her to keep her going longer, and on a good feed she ends up getting 15-20 mins worth. This normally lasts her between 2 and 3 hours, though occasionally only 1 and occasionally up to 4.

I normally only manage to express 20/30ml at a time, and my ankles are back to normal but feet are still sore. And don't ask me about weight!

daisyandbabybootoo · 13/07/2007 21:23

LOL Jamantha, short and to the point!!

Babyboo sometimes falls asleep at the breast, but someone on another thread suggested to me that this was a bad thing as they get used to it and always need feeding to get to sleep. I didn't think at this stage in their development that it was such an issue.

daisyandbabybootoo · 13/07/2007 21:46

yukkity yukkity yuck.

we have just had two of the most explosive poos imaginable...one straight after the other.

come back poo every nappy...all is forgiven

annobal · 13/07/2007 22:00

Weddingcake - when your lo falls asleep, sit him up and burp him to make a bit more room. It sounds as though he might not be getting hind milk that sustains for a bit longer. hth

annobal · 13/07/2007 22:03

Sorry - then put him back on the same boob. Another option is to change his nappy to wake him up.

annobal · 13/07/2007 22:05

Ah Daisy - i forgot about explosive poos. i have all this to look forward to . Got your email, thanks.

bumperlicious · 13/07/2007 22:49

Holly, what a pile of shit? I hope he is being majorly contrite. I don't know what to say, but thinking of you and hoping all will work out for the best for you.

Weddingcake my DD always falls asleep at the breast, then I take her off, put her down and 15 minutes or so later she'll be crabby for a feed again. I wish she'd just bloody take it all in one sitting.

I fed her in starbucks in sainsbury's, thought she'd finished then 15 minutes later she yowled so loud I could still hear her as I was running to the baby aisle to find a dummy and open it without paying to shut her up!

As for weight, I was a stone heavier than I wanted to be before being pg, put on 2 stone, lost one afterwards and think if I'm not careful I'm going to put it back on again!

pmsl bumper....guess you're not being too PFB about sterilising

I'm still up with cranky exploding DD.

she's been feeding like a loon and the jury is still out on why she's having all these latch problems.

have decided to knock dummy on head incase thats the cause of it all.

don't you just wish you had x-ray vision to see wtf is happening inside their mouths?

bumperlicious · 13/07/2007 23:03

I stuck it in my mouth first! God knows what she gets of my nipples, specially since I just spilt wine down my chest

I seem to have the opposite problem to you daisy, I'm convinced she is latching on properly, she looks like she is, HV thinks she is but my nips still frikkin hurt! I wish I knew what we were doing wrong.

What makes you think DD isn't latching properly?

OP posts:
daisyandbabybootoo · 13/07/2007 23:13

she clucks and pulls off and is getting in lots of air. nips not sore, but thet get uncomfortably prickly/ticklish...can't really describe it.

been reading about tongue tie too, and although it doesn't look obvious, her tongue has the classic heart shape. will get it looked at at her six week check next week.

i think when you bf your baby and do so after not showering for two days, sterilising is pretty obsolete! i do sterilise the pump and storage bottles though, but not dummies...quick run under hot tap and wipe with kitchen towel!

right dd sleeping as only babies can sleep....hopefull that'll be her till 5 or 6

good night xx

daisyandbabybootoo · 13/07/2007 23:16

bumper are you fair skinned.....ie pink aereoli (sp?) if that's not too personal a question .....it's a good job you know i'm not a hairy trucker, LOL.

just remembered my MW mentioned that fairer skinned types can have more pain problems than darker skinned types. don't know why that should be though.

bumperlicious · 13/07/2007 23:19

wow, that'll be impressive. we have one more feed before bed, and hopefully she'll got till 5.30, but last night she only went till 4.

we went to a reflexologist today to try and sort out her wind. it'll take a day or two to see it it works but she was good as gold, very relaxed.

right off to prepare for her last feed. hope you have a good weekend xx

OP posts:
bumperlicious · 13/07/2007 23:22

really? hmm, without other nips for comparison I guess they are fairly light, I certainly thought they would go darker when feeding.

HV thinks pain my be my let down, which would explain why I suddenly felt like I had needles shooting through my nipples as I thought about feeding DD!

OP posts:
bumperlicious · 13/07/2007 23:27

Hmm, jury's out according to google. Fairer skin means thinner skin apparently and some people say that means sore nipples, but kellymom says it's a myth.

anyway night to anyone still out there!

riabutterflew · 14/07/2007 00:30

Holly, you have my sympathy as I sure as hell know how that feeld. Men are such arses when it comes to being the only breadwinner sometimes. Hope it all works out ok. Men are arses when it comes to drink too.

Who mentioned weight? (sorry, has a couple of glasses of wine due to household ria-type stress! Also eyes hurt as can't locate specs, so speed-reading half-heartedly!) I am in my pre-PG clothes, but this is nothing to be proud of as I was apparently morbidly obese before! I have lost about 1 stone I think since birth, but didn't get weighed after 26 weeks or so so don;t really know what the damage is. I wiegh now what I weighed when I was last dieting after DS2 and before PG. It's not good news really (other than I haven't gained a lot) and would happily drop 5 stone during sleep overnight if I could!

Must go to bed... Have a good weekend. I'm hoping my plans to enjoy it work out as I intend.

riabutterflew · 14/07/2007 00:32

I promise that I am not so pissed I can't type. I just can't type cos I cheated in my typing exams.
