I concieved on 25th July... dp's birthday

I worked until I was 7 months - self employed telecoms consultant, same as dp. There isnt a huge amount of work up here at the moment, plus if I did find another job baby would have to go into full time care as both our families live 100+ miles away. Dp does earn a fair amount, well enough to pay the mortgage and such like, we are quite lucky in not having any debt..

I would like to do something though - even if its just ebaying or something, although my real passion would be wedding/event planning.

CaptainDippy · 05/07/2007 14:34

P has been asleep since 10am!!!! I was working til 1 & DH was looking after and "working from home" (Read: playing on the computer & drinking hot choc all morning while the youngest 2 slept.) - I have just buzzed round & done the housework - quick catch up on here & just enough time for quick post before I give her booby and head off to a friends ....

Doidy cups arrived today!! so will get them packaged up and sent tomorrow - should be withy ou Sat / Mon!

Octo Goodness me - how are you feeling about it all - prob no consolation, but I LOVE my v.small age gap between the 1st too. {{{hugs}}}

Gotta go - wailing for England .....

Birthday .

Right. Yes childcare does cost a total fortune and TBH when you pay through the nose at times you do think WTF am i doing this for. I thought you meant you don't work, you never worked.

IMO all childcare should be completly free but i can't see that happening just yet, maybe one day, in our kids generation or sth.

Yeh be an entrepreneur on ebay, good thinking .

geordiemacminx · 05/07/2007 14:41

No, I worked, its a bit weird not working now, and as I was self employed its not like I am even on maternity leave - although I did get SMP...

I totally agree about child care - its the same as everything else though - if you are poor then its free, if you are rich then you can afford it, its the normal middle of the road people that loose out - same as tuition fees.

If my mum lived close then I would be going back to work as she would love to look after C full time. Hey o though - it is lovely to look after him every day though!!

Pinions · 05/07/2007 14:44

I am in the same situation as you and I think that applies to a lot of peeps these days, with people going off to uni/work etc etc. That they move away from their families.

When you set up your own business let me know and i'll join you!

Time flies when ur having fun, time to go and pick up ds1.

Would rather leave him there but thats another story..........byeeeeeeee.........

Katy44 · 05/07/2007 14:50

gmm move back down here!!
We can nanny share
Or can your mum look after T too and I'll pay her?

geordiemacminx · 05/07/2007 15:09

I dont think dp wold be very happy if i moved back home!!!

Katy44 · 05/07/2007 15:18

Well he'd ahve to come too, I'm not suggesting you split up

Katy44 · 05/07/2007 15:19

DP we're splitting up.
I'm moving nearer some virtual person I know from the internet
sure that would go down well!

geordiemacminx · 05/07/2007 15:24

but there are no jobs down there - so neither of us would be able to work!!! Although he did get a call about a job in Russia... £1000 A DAY!!!! Told him to go for it, we can rent the house out and I'll move back to mams - we could have the mortgage paid off in 6 months!!!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 05/07/2007 15:27

Afternoon ladies. Chatty lot that you are.

Octo, hope you get the result that you want - whatever that might be.

Runny, K is extremely dribbly and shoves her hands in her mouth like a maniac. I think it may be a comfort thing, as she does it even after she has necked a 6 ounce bottle. She literally gnaws on her fist and drool runs down her chin!

Completely forgotten everything else - I am braindead!

Been in to work this am for a meeting and my Dad came and looked after K which he loved! So sweet seeing the 2 of them together.

Not much going o here. Weather is pants again. Each time I think of heading out it pisses down!

Hope all is well.

Ange and WaspElly, have sent you an email.

xx

Katy44 · 05/07/2007 15:29

£1000 a day?! Wow, even just a week would be fantastic
Hi SOKL!

geordiemacminx · 05/07/2007 15:32

I know - its crazy crazy money... they were offering that to go and work in Iraq a few months back too...its not much use earning that money if you come home in a wooden box...

Hey SOKL!!

Pinions · 05/07/2007 15:39

GMM move to leeds, loads of jobs down here. Probably not the kind of ones you would want though?

And being nosey again GMM what does your ex job consist of, have always wondered?

Pinions · 05/07/2007 15:40

hi SOKL.

Pinions · 05/07/2007 15:41

And weather piss poor in Leeds too. I cannot take much more of it, have asked dp if we can emigrate but not too keen on the idea .

geordiemacminx · 05/07/2007 15:43

I used to work in leeds a few days a week when I lived in north-east... Arlington Business Centre?

I project manage the building of mobile phone masts - all of the sub-contractors - things like power, kit, construction work etc. Have also done some radio work which is planning where the masts go in order to improve coverage.

God apologies to everyone who is now asleep after reading that!!!

Pinions · 05/07/2007 15:47

Yeh the bt arlington business centre I know it.

It all sounds very technical, bit of a change to wiping dirty bottoms anyway?

geordiemacminx · 05/07/2007 15:50

Thats the one, also stafford taylor building in the city centre near the tetly brewery?

Kinda, although a lot of it was dealing with hairy arse builders - used to be great turning up on a farm with suit on, they expect you are visiting farmers daughter or something, until I put hard hat and high-vis jacket on... he he

I really like Leeds, dp's kids live in Liversedge, and my aunt lives in Wakefield. Had a few druken nights in Leeds - particulary remeber the cockpit?

Pinions · 05/07/2007 15:57

Hairy arsed builders . I once worked at a telecommunications place in leeds, which dealt with all the cables/masts etc etc. It was the most sexist place that i ever worked. With comments/looks/just bend over this way a bit - yeh right!

I can't for the life of me remember the name of it though.

I think the cockpit is quite close to The Fruit Cupboard? Never been though seen many a dodgy looking person fall out of there!

I think the building you mean, if its opposite the Tetley Brewery, at the crown point has now been bought by BG cos thats where DP works.

Katy44 · 05/07/2007 15:58

what's all this about wiping hairy arsed builders' bums??
So tired...

Sexonknackeredlegs · 05/07/2007 15:58

GMM, one of my cousins lives in Wakefield!

Katy, it as 5.00 p.m. that Tesco came, not 5.00 a.m.!! I am mad, but not that mad. Pmsl when I read that!!

Pinions · 05/07/2007 15:58

Noooooo Katy.

Katy44 · 05/07/2007 15:59

SOKL I'm very glad to hear that
Pinions and GMM I hope you washed your hands!

Pinions · 05/07/2007 16:02

Too much for my imagination to cope with right now Katy .
