And katy definitely got my premenstrual head on cos your post didn't make any sense at all to me .

JoMa · 05/07/2007 08:46

Katy is meaning that due to the law of sod, if you expect the baby to wake up, and it would be useful if they did, they WON'T!!!!!!!!

Liath is right, you can have periods when bf, but unlikely if exclusively feeding every 3-4 hours day and night. Lots of ladies on here have, Ange included.

And thanks for the explanation ellie, reverse thinking I could go with that .

geordiemacminx · 05/07/2007 08:50

Morning ladies11

Nice to see you anm.. sorry you have been through such a hard time - you sound very strong. My dp is from liverpool so we are quite often down there - it a lovely city!!

I got my period at about 6 weeks , but after what liath said, I realise that was aboutn the time that C started sleeping through the night. He slept from 9 til 6 last night - happy days!!!

Bumble - C had his injections yesterday, it wasnt nice but he was fine, just gave him a drop of calpol last night. He has bruising on both legs mind which makes me sad!!!

Pinions · 05/07/2007 08:50

Enjoy your meeting sounds serious?

Pinions · 05/07/2007 08:53

Hi GMM after 6 weeks so soon???

I have spent many a happy (chemical/alcohol induced) a good night out in Liverpool, lived there for 4 years at uni.

Bit of a crazy place the land of scouse.

geordiemacminx · 05/07/2007 08:56

Yep, i was rather pleased...not!!!! still if it was a toss up between no periods and him nsleeping through it would definately be the latter!!!!

Katy44 · 05/07/2007 08:56

Right, he's asleep after covering his moses basket in sick and clothes in poo
Off for a shower
(I have cleaned him and them up BTW, not that neglectful )

Katy44 · 05/07/2007 08:57

ooh yes Id have a period for 8 hours sleep

JoMa · 05/07/2007 08:57

Katy44 · 05/07/2007 08:57

Have fun ellie!

Pinions · 05/07/2007 08:59

Please don't mention the work word.

maveta · 05/07/2007 09:00

Nope, no period here and hoping it stays like that for ages!!

Is anyone else co-sleeping?
Does anyone NOT follow a bed time timetable?

I´m not sure if we´re making a rod for our own back here but N tends to sleep next to us on the sofa until we got to bed about 11pm and then comes straight into our bed with us. Personally I find night feeds easier this way although dh is waking more. Anyway, it´s hopefully temporary until we´ve cured the cats of jumping into the cot (eeeeek). But the bedtime routine.. anyone? I´ve tried a few times but TBH even if I bath him and feed him at 7pm ish, he rarely settles until about 9pm and then he wants another feed etc etc so I feel like I´ll lose MORE of my evening by single mindedly trying to make him sleep earlier (i.e. spending 2 hours stroking his back etc etc to get him to sleep, only for him to need fed shortly after..)

maveta · 05/07/2007 09:02

GMM - did he do that on his own?

geordiemacminx · 05/07/2007 09:12

Yeah he starting settling and sleeping longer from about 5 weeks.

We do tend to follow a rountine of around 8ish giving him a bath, putting his vest on and giving him a monster feed - usually breast but occasionally if he's really hungry he gets a bottle then a comfort suck, he then goes into his moses basket (although its too small almost) and settles himself off to sleep - he stays down here though til we go to bed, and sleeps in our room, usually wakes between 5 and 6 then comes into bed with us.. most times he stays awake after this feed.

Pesha · 05/07/2007 09:36

Maveta - 7pm sit down with baby feeding and laptop for mn, feed continually till he falls asleep, sometime between 8 and 10.

Place bf cushion on sofa (used to be armchair until he fell off sofa is wider) place baby on cushion. Leave and continue with mn/msn until i can drag myself away - usually midnight ish!

Carry baby up to moses basket. Ignore snuffles. Sometimes he sleeps for couple more hours. If he doesnt feed in bed then place him in basket after.

When he wakes up bring him into bed to feed and fall asleep.

Continue feeding/sleeping, swapping sides each time he wakes til 8 then jump out of bed shouting at dc and rushing round like a loon.

Be late for school. Again!

No bath or routine or anything, well bath sometimes but not as part of a routine iyswim. Never have with any dc cos i know id never stick to it and i think if you get them used to a routine you become bound by it, which suits some people but not me.

no period here and didnt previously till month or so after completely finishing feeding, despite having weaned already and dd sleeping through from 5 weeks.

Pesha · 05/07/2007 09:43

Have drs for me and D soon as i have pain in side by ribs that feels bit like stitch but isnt. Had it yesterday mornng, eased throughout the day but was agony this morning - had to wake dp to drive us to school cos couldnt walk. Think its prob from sleeping awkwardly due to having a baby in my armpit and dont expect that she'll do anything but wanna get it checked as we off on hol on sat. And D has had a slight temp on and off since yesterday morn - no other symptoms and ok at the mo but again wanna get it checked while we can and cos its been nearly 24hours.

mammyjo · 05/07/2007 09:43

Morning all. Have had what I thought was a period at about 6 weeks I think, but it only lasted one day and nothing since.

Lol Katy at the clean sheets thing. That is exactly what would happen to me. Stressed at the moment as F was sleeping through the night really well from about 10 til 6 but has suddenly started waking. This has coincided with her going into her own room so maybe thats why, although she settles really well in there so not sure.

Maveta, we have a bedtime routine of sorts now. F doesnt get bathed every night as it was drying out her skin so she gets one every other night. Basically she goes upstairs, has bath, puts babygro on then goes into her room for a feed before going into her cot awake to settle. She goes up anywhere between 6 and 7pm. We didnt start putting her to bed so early, but she is just ready and yelling to tell us she wants to go. Nice because I have got my evenings back!

Pinions · 05/07/2007 09:43

God this is a luxury 2 more mins on pc.

And PAINKILLERS

Please post your favourite pre-menstrual painkillers......always on the look out for new ones to try.

Recently discovered soluble solpadeine, they seem pretty good, but does anyone know any better? Some people swear by nurofen but I don't think they are too good?

mammyjo · 05/07/2007 09:45

X post Pesha. Hope it goes ok at the docs. Difficult when bf as you cant even take much in the way of pain killers to ease things a bit. Pharmacist told me I couldnt take Ibuprofen - not convinced about that as after ds the midwives kept giving me Voltarol which is stronger!

mammyjo · 05/07/2007 09:48

Pinions, I tend to use nurofen. Dont get so much pain these days, much worse pre pill and children! Used to take something called Feminax (I think that is what it was called) and remember it being good. Used to get such bad cramps I would feel as if I was about to pass out.

Pesha · 05/07/2007 09:59

Thanks mammyjo, I took cocodamol for afterpains so know i can take that but can never remember what else! I suppose that even if theres nothing the dr can do at least she can prescribe me painkillers and save me having to buy them!!
