Dragonhart · 01/07/2007 20:15

OMG! Just watching news and the place where they have arrested people in Houston near LGasgow Airport is where I went to school! Recognise the house.

loopyjules · 01/07/2007 20:15

evening all! i haven't been on for 2 days and it took ages to catch up, i'm such a slow reader, have tried to do a few personals but got really confused! had a lovely night with dh on friday was being a bit of a teary muppet on saturday morning before he had to go but it's only for 2 more weeks and mum is here all week so we are going to have a few shopping trips hopefully which will keep me busy

i have been wondering when to stop the sterilising as all sorts have been in brandon's mouth and it was seeming a bit pointless, although we have only just started bottle feeding so i'll carry on to get the money's worth from my steam steriliser!

RGee - i cope ok as i do most stuff when he's here anyway!! like most of us do probably, although he has been getting a lot better at helping out probably was feeling guilty about having to work away bless him. we had a lovely night on fri and he let me have a lie in till 9 on saturday morning before he set off again so that was much appreciated

i am originally from sunny skipton, do you know it? mum and dad still live there and my dh is from barnoldswick over the border. oh and congrats on the tooth, my little man has cut his bottom two teeth!

mrsgolfpro - used dummies!! some people will sell anything, i would have been tempted to ask the seller the question "why would you?!" your pixiphotos are lovely, i love the one of him standing, such a cute little dude!

laughalot - hope your mum and dad are ok, what a horrible experience.

ud - hope you enjoyed your last public cig!!

eandh - have a good first day at work, rather you than me, i am loving being a sahm but i'm sure the novelty will wear off soon

vinorouge · 01/07/2007 21:19

MGP - I'm liking your new name - v cool! And the sound of your new haircut (from the last thread!). I chickened out of a fringe at the hairdressers last week but had mine thinnned loads. Ellen was good too, she came with me for the first time bless her. As for your GP getting sick of you, I rang the manager of my surgery to complain last week. I felt naughty but was so annoyed..yet to see if it worked. My area only does a fast track physio referral if its cancer or neurological but once I complained there was suddenly a postnatal physio I could be referred to. Not easy being a mum when you can't pick up or put down your little one is it??? Rev Vino Will never forget the words for J's christening!!! He usually does all his services from memory, doesn't use books at all.

Rgee - hope your hols were nice. Pippa with 2 teeth!! Wow!!

It rained everyday in the peak district and I could barely walk for 2/3 days as my sore back suddenly got WORSE. Had to ring NHS Direct and go to local drs for painkillers so no boozing for vino unfortunately. Its looking like the hen weekend I'l be on next weekend will be a sober one too. I had no idea how much one uses one's back IYKWIM . So no long walks for family Hobson, however Ellen did get carried in her new bushbaby rucksack which is FAB! DH did the honours, had to really with my poor back and the fact that he broke her new travel cot when he put it up the first night!! Poor thing had to sleep on a makeshift bed of 2 pillows covered in a sheet for 2 nigths then we managed to borrow a cot. DH was also super looking after me. Much better now but can't sit or stand for very long.

E&H - I've got 4 cups so far and Ellen not keen on any of them. She has started holding the small bottle I put her water in herself so maybe thats a start

Loopy - Helllllooooo !!!! Where in Yorkshire are you?

Shimmer - I give Ellen her bottle after her brek puree. Not given her any finger foods yet, you may just have inspired me!

UD I did a pg test this week too! It was negative as weel. We want a second LO, plan to start trying in Jan but it wouldn;t be the end of the world if it happened sooner.

My cellar is not underwater anymore. It started drying and then flooded again. The industrial dryer things are very loud. Its like a hoover being on constantly which does annoy you after a while.

Going to get Ellen weighed this week. She seems to be getting longer cos everythings short on her, trousers cut into her tubby tummy and her arms burst out of sleeves. I worry I'm feeding her too much but she's such a happy little girlie I don't want to change anything. Tonight is her first night in her own room and she went off to sleep without any probs. Fingers crossed....

OMG I have been catching up for over an hour!! I hope you are all as pleased to see me back as you were Rgee....

vinorouge · 01/07/2007 21:22

MGP - which bugy have you ordered ? Kiddicare are great at delivering on time I find. I thought of you when i was in Mothercare today and a lady was kicking off about her broken 3D.

Dragonhart · 01/07/2007 21:39

Vino- aboout the back. I used to have problems with my back and it is really miserable.

EAH good luck with going back to work!

Loopy- Hope the 2 weeks fly by!

MrsGolfPro · 01/07/2007 21:57

Getting the buggy RGee linked to below xx

loopyjules · 02/07/2007 08:16

good morning

all is well here, lo has gone back to sleep so just having a quick mn. going shopping later, i have some mothercare vouchers to spend, no idea what i want though.

do anyones babies like to sleep on their tummys? brandon has always hated time on his tummy so i stopped trying that during the day along time ago but this week he has started sleeping on his tummy a lot, seems to really like it now

vino - i'm living in wales at the moment but originally from skipton, north yorkshire. i have a hen night not next weekend, weekend after, i am maid of honour so organising it with the chief bridesmaid. let me know what goes on it may give us a few ideas! and any suggestions from the rest of you would be appreciated. we are currently planning to do like a mr and mrs quiz asking her questions about her bloke and is she gets them wrong a dare and right probably a very big drink so we need more ideas for hen night dares and things like that .

sorry to hear about your back, not nice when you can't pick up your little one

LadyTophamHatt · 02/07/2007 09:23

EandH, ds1 has always had rather challenging behaviour too so we stopped all squash drinks fro him when he was about 4 and gave him pure friut juice instead.

The difference in his behaviour was really noticable.

He now only drinks water, with an occasional full sugar squash drink. He seems to have out grown the natural sugar rush from drinks(hasn't from sweets though) but theres no way I'm going to let him have artifical sweetners again.

Does ellie like fruit juices? Apple juice was alway a good one, maybe you could try it for her too?

2Happy · 02/07/2007 09:53

to vino, welcome home! Sorry your back played up so much on hols.

DH - McCormick, my pic is of hands

Lal - your poor parents, what a nightmare. My bf in rl used to work at glsgow airport (and has loads of friends/family in Houston, DH!), although she doesn't work there any more she was really shaken by it all.

ds2 woke up at 5.30 this morning and woke ds1 up with it No fair.

MrsCarrot · 02/07/2007 09:57

yes, we have watered down pure fruit juice at meals, but they have water the rest of the time. People say their kids don't like water but it's just what they're used to. If you're thirsty, drink water, sugary things should be a treat rather than a staple I think. Mine have lemomade now and then.

It's like fruit and veg though, difficult if you don't set a good example. I can't think of any children who don't like fruit and veg if their parents eat a broad variety themselves. My mother is the worst example, if we go out for a roast she asks if my brother can have extra yorkshire pud as he doesn't like veg. Then when she goes up she asks if she can have extra pud for the same reasons and he NEVER drinks water, nor does she.

Don't know what happened to me, think I was swapped at birth. This isn't meant to sound judgemental so sorrier if it seems holier than thou.

MrsCarrot · 02/07/2007 09:59

in fact I think half the bar tab at the wedding was my mother's vodka and brother's cokes, the wine and water at the table didn't suit their palate

LadyTophamHatt · 02/07/2007 10:03

MrsC, we eat allsorts of diff veg but ds2+3 would rather stick pins in their eyes than eat it....

just to blow your theory out of the water

(ds1 is good though, he'll have a plateof veg and no meat for a roast, ds2+3 will eat a plate of meat nf no veg!)

theUrbanDryad · 02/07/2007 10:26

morning everyone! welcome back Vino...

wel i have just found water dripping through my ceiling. and Zac's just woken up from his nap. bbl xxx

MrsCarrot · 02/07/2007 10:54

yes, I knew that would sound sanctemonious however I put it, LTH, of course it doesn't mean all parents eat badly if their children do, I just mean it's hard to get them to if you don't iyswim, like my mother.

MrsCarrot · 02/07/2007 10:54

Hi Vino

MrsGolfPro · 02/07/2007 13:54

Hello all. Doing a quick skim down of all posts as shouldn't really be on here - told DH I am eBaying!!!!

Loopy - a good thing for a hen night is to get the hen to find and kiss (on the cheek) 10 men by the same name as her groom-to-be. Causes a good laugh.

Right girls, we are an aspartame-free house. I have bought high-juice and am currently making chicken stock from fresh in preparation for introducing J to meat next week.

J keeps on screaming randomly and waking in the night - could this be teething? I can feel lumps in his lower gum at the front but no other obvious signs. He is really really mardy too all the time...(not like him).

Not much to report. Dh putting coving up which is actually looking very nice so far....

2Happy · 02/07/2007 14:20

e&h - how's work going (not that you are reading this until tonight, of course !)?

2Happy · 02/07/2007 14:22

Oh ps if anyone hasn't bought a highchair there was a review of them in the family section of saturday's guardian (really helpful on a monday )

LadyTophamHatt · 02/07/2007 14:59

Sorry mrsC, it sounds like I've pissed you off abit.

Not intended...., sorry
