What about Milton Keynes? That's not far from you and there's this place www.dayoutwiththekids.co.uk/event.php?id=203 or even www.gulliversfun.co.uk/miltonkeynes.htm and don't know how close this place is to you www.dayoutwiththekids.co.uk/event.php?id=39 We've been to the last 2 places and it was very good. Gullivers has a soft play area and lots of small rides that you could take Z on that he might enjoy. We might go there this weekend actually if the weather's nice, inlaws live in MK but might not tell them we're going hehe.

theUrbanDryad · 06/07/2007 09:34

places like that aren't much fun if you're on your own and all my mates are skint also - no car so it has to be accessible by train! thanks for looking though

theUrbanDryad · 06/07/2007 09:35

and it's just started to piss it down

JodieG1 · 06/07/2007 09:40

Weather's looking worse here too now, sigh, sick of the sodding rain.

2Happy · 06/07/2007 09:40

Been pouring with rain all morning here, nd like you UD I have a major case of cabin fever. How'm I going to amuse the boys all day?? (not by sitting on MN I guess )

Only 3oz this morning, but my boobs are surprisingly un-engorged so far.

Good luck with the sports day.

Meet in York, go on, I'd manage that!

theUrbanDryad · 06/07/2007 09:45

York, hang on...

theUrbanDryad · 06/07/2007 09:48

it's only one change but the ticket's £40 so no. sorry.

theUrbanDryad · 06/07/2007 10:30

and now you've all deserted me

JodieG1 · 06/07/2007 10:31

I'm lurking

Shimmer · 06/07/2007 10:32

Just been laughing for about 10 minutues at "feed the fucks" Jodie! Didn't get a lot of sleep last night and think i'm a bit hysterical this morning

You can come and visit me in London UD! I'm actually feeling the same today, really restless and kind of bored. Even though I have stuff i could be doing, it's all boring stuff and i want to do something EXCITING. I was meant to be meeting up with some friends this afernoon but no-one can make it now which i'm feeling a bit about. Surely nothing can be more important that meeting me?!?!?

I'd try and make it up to York if you guys were going to meet there! Haven't been back for ages and i'd like to see the old place again. If you plan it a couple of weeks in advance I can usually get a reasonable train fare from London.

theUrbanDryad · 06/07/2007 10:36

i'm sorely tempted Shimmer...you live near Russel Square don't you? i can get a Travelcard for about £16 with my Young Person's railcard....

theUrbanDryad · 06/07/2007 10:55

and Nationwide have just written me a snotty letter saying they won't refund my charges because it wouldn't be fair on all the other people who still have charges on their accounts.

it would've been so nice to open that letter and find a cheque for £235. why don't nice things ever happen. so glum today.

Shimmer · 06/07/2007 10:56

STUPID QUESTION ALERT

Hmmm i've just been baking a couple of sweet potatos for F and loads of potato gunk has dripped out of them all over the bottom of the oven I've cooked them before and this hasn't happened. Anyone know more about sweet potato than me and can tell me if this is normal??

Shimmer · 06/07/2007 10:58

Ahhh to still qualify for a young persons railcard......

Do come UD. We'll find somthing to do.

theUrbanDryad · 06/07/2007 11:21

totally normal about the sweet potato Shimmer, i usually roast them on the grill pan to avoid irritating drippage.

really want to come to London, but i fear dh would shout at me for spending money we don't have. especially since we've had to fork out £30 for the parking ticket.

katwith3kittens · 06/07/2007 11:35

Rain rain go away .........

Supposed to be packing as off for some sun tomorrow in Italy hurrah !

Cant stop long as loads to do, but couldnt resist popping in to see how everyone is. BT have been a right pain in the a$$ and we've had no broadband for a week. Not managed to catch up on everything as spent too much time laughing about those ducks

UD It never rains but it pours

See you in 3weeks

katwith3kittens · 06/07/2007 11:44

Oh yeah, best prezzie, some Clarins skin tightening cream thats intended for the older woman super restorative redefining body care ...but it works it really does . I've got the stomach of a 45 year old now

Wilkie · 06/07/2007 12:20

Hello Ladies.

My mummy is always on the laptop on something called Mummysnet so I thought I would have a look while she is hanging the washing out.

I don't get what happened last night. There I was laying in my cot nice and quiet admiring the teddy bear swinging above my head when I hear some very strange noises coming from mummy and daddy's room. It was like farmyard animals. So I thought I should start crying to see what was going on.

I then heard Daddy say 'Fork' or something like that. Then daddy comes into my room, naked , very red faced an stuffs my dummy into my mouth without even bothering to smile at me. He then shut my bedroom door!!! They never do that.

So I decided to spit my dummy out and cry again. This time mumy came in, naked , and says 'For cods sake Jacob, go to sleep you are killing the mood', stuffs my dummy in my mouth and walks out again.

I can still hear the farmyard animal noises through the wall so I cry again. This time Daddy comes back and looks very cross. He switches that stupid musical box thing on that I really hate but they think I like it, stuffs my dummy back in and walks out again.

I must have gone to sleep cos when I woke up it was all quiet and I wanted to play. So I sang, yelled and cried for an hour and a half. In the end mummy came in and stuffed a bottle of that horrible white liquid into my mouth so I pretended to drink a bit but didn't really. Then when she thought I had finished I spat it out on her which was really funny.

Oh no, mummy's coming back. Nice to talk to you.

Jacob xxx

Shimmer · 06/07/2007 12:32

Hi Jacob. Thanks so much for coming to say hi. I bet whats going on is that your mummy and daddy are building you your very own petting zoo in their bedroom. With sheep and pigs and goats and ducks and everything!! BUT it's not finished yet, they still need to build a pond and get some big bales of hay, and it's meant to be a surprise. Thats why mummy and daddy always get so worried when you hear the animal noises, because they think you might guess your surprise. So next time you hear those noises coming from mummy and daddy's bedroom just pretend you don't know what's going on... it'll make them feel better and they'll probably get the zoo finished even quicker!

theUrbanDryad · 06/07/2007 12:39

Jacob - they're practicing making you a new baby brother or sister. it'll be fun when you've got a baby brother or sister, because you can push them down the stairs, then blame everything on them.

eandh · 06/07/2007 15:28

cant post properly but pmsl

trixymalixy · 06/07/2007 16:35

Nom nom - just enjoying a slice of freshly cooked bread baked in my new breadmaker, which was a birthday present from DH.

Having a lovely day. DH has taken DS out for the afternoon so I am sitting trying to spot my Mum and Aunt in the crowd at Wimbledon.

My Aunt was diagnosed with stomach cancer last year and was told she wouldn't live till Xmas, and they weren't going to treat her. She insisted on treatment and yesterday got the all clear!!!! Going to Wimbledon was one of the things on her list to do before she died, but she wasn't expecting to make it there. So happy that she did.

theUrbanDryad · 06/07/2007 18:01

how did ellie's sports day go EAH?

2Happy · 06/07/2007 19:42

eandh · 06/07/2007 19:56

Really well thanks they all 'won' and got a certificate for taking part and a medal each. She joined in some of the races but got a bit bored, she decided pushchair race was a bit hard so dumped her pushchair and legged it for the finish line

Wilkie - you wait till he is in a bed and can et up and walk into your room sort of kills the moment or as my nephew (aged around 5 at the time) announced at sunday dinner in front od entire family (great grandparents etc etc) daddy has got a sticky tummy cause I went in for a cuddle and Daddys tummy was sticking to mummys tummy and I could see hs bottom lots of for sil and her dh!
