novadandypowder · 07/07/2007 12:43

RIP - the Nov 05 thread, killed by nova, it will be sadly missed.....

Beksmum · 08/07/2007 00:31

Ha ha ha, you don't get rid of us that easily you know

Diege · 08/07/2007 09:53

Was just going to say the same BEKS . Did you get a child-free morning on the Friday NOVA? Hope Noo is feeling better. Thanks GG for the screeching sympathy- same here, frustration when she can't get what she wants (usually resisting nappy changes, into PJs etc). All going well here - house on the market (how impossible are those pre-viewing tidy-ups!!), notice handed in at 'old' work, been up to see new place (are reassuringly inefficient...), the girls and dds are well and happy. L is 'one of them' now, not a baby at all..screeching away, trying out lots of words. Hates the reins, loves running down hills (not an easy thing to watch), and has a real belly laugh that makes up for the screeching!
I'm onto my last week's marking, though will probably need an extension on the deadline..
Off to dh's work BBQ (anyone else HATE BBQs??? Think it might be related to veggie-ness, but even so, I just don't get all the hanging around for a burger business...). AND I will be missing the men's wimbledon final ; what will Rafa do wothout me?? . (dh is pleased.. ).

Diege · 08/07/2007 09:55

Meant 'girls and dh'; I must start reading through my posts!

Beksmum · 08/07/2007 10:25

Morning

Well it's a bit quiet on here isn't it?

Nova oh the joys of having two, you can guarantee one or the other will always mess up your plans for quiet time or lie ins!!!

Diege well done on the marking, will you still be doing this in your new job or is this the last time? L sounds adorable by the way.
I'm with you on hating BBQ's, badly cooked food and pasta salad that's been out in the open for far to long - bleugh!

GG hope you had a good night out last night and that the boys had fun at nanny's.

We've had a mixed week here. I had a b'day tea for my uncle on Wednesday with the whole family which was nice, then T decided to puke all over me again - yuck. Thursday was my b'day and dh & I had planned on going out for a tapas meal that B had won for us at the school fair, only thing was dh got home from work to find me with my head down the toilet. Only just managed to open my presents before having to dash back upstairs and retired to bed at 7pm - happy b'day to me Then my parents were ill in the night and dh took the next day off work as he felt dodgy too - we all had gastroenteritus - thanks T for getting it twice and passing it on tu all this time
Dh bought me a lovely necklace and the kids bought me new trainers and books and then as a surprise dh had arranged for my brother to come round and fix our front fence which has been falling down for ages and was really bugging me, so at least now me and the neighbours are happy

Hope to be a more frequent poster again now that my parents have gone home.

Londoner when do you kids break up for the hols? Thought we could try to get together this week as B breaks up on the 18th - argghhh!!!

Can I have a proud mummy moment please B got his first school report and it was really really good, his teacher summed him up brilliantly, mentioning his naughty points which were few and far between but really praising him for doing so well - yay

Right now I've written a novel I'm off to sort out my front garden - hope everyone is having a great weekend Beks

BrownieBells · 08/07/2007 18:28

Hello All - Happy Birthday to you Beks! - or should I say belated birthday - sorry!
Hope you are all feeling better - and a big "Yay" to B for a glowing report!

T is doing really well - can now climb up the ladder to his slide at my parents and go down on his own (a new thing learned!) He loves reading, playing with the tea set, helping Mummy, Daddy and Grandparents - just loves to be involved! And playing outside.
He is a real treasure! and I wouldn't swap him for the world.

He has a really strange rash at the moment thoough - I have put it down to a heat rash or sun allergy (cos Mummy stopped his antihistamines - oops!) but he has like an urticaria type rash over his arms and legs (not his trunk at all - it stops at his little bum - his back and tummy are both clear) He isn't unwell in the slightest , he isn't itching or scratching it - he still has the appetite of a rhinocerous, and doesn't have a temp and isn't irritable more than usual.....
Have been and bought some piriton syrup, so hopefully that should clear it up in a few days. Bless him....

Right - it is the last night of Brownies this week before the Summer! So it is end of term BBQ and 2 enrollments on Tuesday....need to get a load of prizes for the winning sixes - so will be off to Tesco tomorrow (also need some Thank you presents for my Camp helpers).

Ok - off to surf the web now.....always dangerous!

Speak later - hope you are all out enjoying what's left of the sunshine.....'thas been glorious down here for the last 2 days....

Brownie

Londoner · 09/07/2007 09:54

Hello! Wanted to say a belated but very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to Beks and to Bella.
What a beautiful weekend it was! Fingers crossed it stays this way for sports days. Bye!

Londoner · 09/07/2007 23:14

Hi again, Beks this week is CHOCCA! How about beginning of next? Well done on B's report btw, what a great start to his school life, have to say am not surprised he seemed a very energetic, enthusiastic and happy boy when I've met him.
BB lol at appetite the size of a rhino lol. Hope the rash responds to piriton.
Diege, but I love bbq's!
Night.x

GreedyGecko · 10/07/2007 07:36

Hi everyone. Kitchen is getting there. We now have plasterboard on the ceiling and most of the walls, cupboard doors are ordered. Surprisingly it's not getting to me. The cooker is still plugged in to the gas, the sink is still there (until today I think). I suppose it's because I'm going to get the kitchen I want, designed as I want it, so I'm just looking forward to the end result.

Diege, I love bbq's. But I only eat meat!

Well done B on his great report.

My turn for proud mummy status. S has been sayoing a few new words; parsley & purple to add to the others. I forgot about baby & Pompey the other day too! I find it so funny that he can say more difficult words but won't even attempt simple words. Parents evening last night, and we're very pleased with O. His report was great, and his results were outstanding. The max score they can get is 117, his is 107, and the only one in his class with a 3 figure score. Also S was very good int he car yesterdqay. He started screaming and shouting, and when I looked round to see what was wrong it was because he'd got his arm out of his straps on his car seat and wanted it put back on properly.

Haven't seen Rodeo for a bit. Everything OK?

ChaCha · 10/07/2007 08:25

Hi girls, Great to read all your news Lots going on with all your LOs and some v.proud mummy moments there indeed! Great summary Nova! (Belated B'day wishes Beks - had no idea), Good news on kitchen GG, Hope T is ok BB, DS1 has similar but is heat rash i think. Hi to all, Londoner, Rodeo, Diege..

Can honestly say that was the best holiday i've had yet Weather was great, DS1 really enjoyed it all and considering we drove from city to city for the last 3 days the boys did so well. Managed to visit 3 cities in all, staying a night in each one and returned on Sunday afternoon. Was v.exciting but have to admit that driving through mountains for hours on end is a tad scary but worth every minute. They love children there, I was handsfree for much of the holiday - went into a coffee shop once and before i knew it DS1 had an ice cream and balloon in each hand and DS2 was being entertained by the family running the place, sat and had my coffee in total peace - this happened regularly, loved it!
A lovely couple gave up their plane seats for us so that we could have a seat each (baby in car seat) how sweet was that? Had a lovely flight home thanks to them - is v.rare IMHO to find ppl so eager to help.

DS1 can go from the most loving, cuddly, little gem of a toddler to something possessed! His favourite word is NO at the moment and wish that he'd never learned it sometimes. Loves swimming and dancing, reading books and all the usual toddler stuff, has learnt 'shower' this week 'sha-a' and has suddenly become very aware of DS2. They roll around together now making noises at each other which sends DS1 into hysterics and has DS1 chuckling - they are really lovely together.
DS1 such a loving little thing, smiles all the time and is very content. Like Nova, will be weaning soon.

Hope that hasn't taken a whole page! Will be posting some pics this evening on Y, want to show you the gorgeous views from the cliffs and other areas.

Talk to you all later x

Diege · 10/07/2007 10:31

Morning . Wow, sounds a great holiday CHACHA - isn;t it nice not to have to mentally psyche yourself up for possible hostility when in cafes etc with children - people seen to be so much more relaxed in other countires (massive generalisation there!)Looking forward to seeing your piccies . Well done on those school reports GG and B! We're pleased with J's too, especially as she struggled a bit in reception being the youngest in the class by some months. Just to have her up to the standard is brilliant . Great going on the kitchen GG - are you still able to cook etc? I remember years ago when I had a kitchen refit having to get take-aways for 2 weeks solid - sounded great at the time but we were so sick of them in the end (and a little heavier!). BB, Ok what did you buy on your web surf - your mention of 'sixes' brought it back for me. I was a seconder in the Elves, but always wanted to be in the Babachods (bet you don't have them where you are...a naughty welsh pixie!). LONDONER, hope your sports day goes well! Ours was cancelled , but the outdoor fair moved inside, so not all was lost.
Still marking here..not sure who asked, but the marking is something I do independently from work, for extra pennies really (can't think of any other reason!). It's A level, but seems to correspond with the busiest times at work! Having said that, will probably carry on next year, even just for for the night away!
Hi to everyone else, NOVa, BEKS, RODEO (you ok?), TWINKLE (MUST get a date sorted before summer hols!!)

GreedyGecko · 10/07/2007 12:18

Hi ChaCha. Back already, doesn't seem like you've been gone that long. Holiday sounds fab, and what a pleasure to have people so friendly. Diege, yes we are still able to cook, although the lack of work surfaces does mean I'm tending to go to the chippy or to work for dinner. So bank balance will be a little less for that if not for the kitchen!

Diege · 11/07/2007 09:42

Morning! Hope everyone is well and happy Raining AGAIN here, and have the ordeal of taking all 3 for haircuts this afternoon which is always as bad as I imagine it to be (if not worse!). This is when I wish I'd kept my driving lessons going!
TWINKLE: do you fancy Salford next Wednesday? I'll only have L with me, as S is on a day out that nursery organise every year for the leavers. Last week before schools finish too, so might be a good date .Speak later!

Rodeo · 11/07/2007 14:39

Quick hello from me!
Water (torrential rain!) has got into our ntl box again so internet has been buggered for a while, hence my unauthorised absence At BILs because we're still waiting for engineer!
Glad you had a lovely holiday Chacha Sounds wonderful! We've had loads of rain so we're all very !
We've been busy with Sports days (competitive as well ) and Summer fairs and Birthdays! (Happy Belated Birthday Beks! Hope you had a good one! I'd forgotton your's is the same as Bella's ) Had lovely school reports for the both of them too, well done to O, Jasmine and B! It's getting round to that sad part of the year again, leaving lovely teachers - I'm far too sentimental
Anyway better make this quick so - Hi Diege finished marking yet? LOL at hating BBQ's I'm with you there! Dp is always trying to do me out of a Sunday Dinner by arranging BBQ's the git! Hi GG, hope your kitchen is nearly finished (though your mention of the chippy has left me hankering after a battered cod!) Brownie, well done on camp (think I was a Elf too!) Has T's rash gone? Love the update Nova, impressed with the pole dancing! Londoner, hello! How was sports day? L&S, we'll have to meet up in the hols, Markeaton or something, LOL at 'not fair'!
Hopefully be back on by the end of the week, or early next week. Speak soon

novadandypowder · 11/07/2007 21:19

Your hols sound dreamy Chacha, I bet you've come back feeling charged up and ready to go.

Well done on school reports, it's good to see I've been getting advice from good parents with fab kids!!

Had my hair cut today, which you may not think is hugely out of the ordinary, but it involved me sitting on a stage in front of a room full of students at the Vidal Sassoon advanced training academy! Basically my hairdresser left the salon that she was working at but managed to poach me as a client because she loves cutting my hair. So now she can cut it for free (and free colour too ) and all I have to do is be looked at and photographed afterwards (sooo glad I wore make-up today). It's a very funky cut, I'll have to try and get some piccies of it.

Noo has had some random feverish days, as has miniman, but we can't figure out whats wrong. Went out clubbing on saturday night (ooohh get me) and got back at 3am to find the babysitter with a very awake smiley miniman in her arms. My heart sank, but he did go straight back down to sleep.

Also saw my uni friends on friday night and caught up on all the goss from my friend who is getting divorced after 11 months of marriage (no her name is not Chantelle ). Turns out her DH turned into a bit of a fruit loop almost as soon as the ring was on her finger, he sounds like a bully who didn't like the fact she gained a load of confidence when she became a teacher, and was trying to keep her down. She's had a lucky escape it seems.

Diege · 12/07/2007 11:52

Hello! Just been granted an extension on my marking (well, a few days) so taking a bit of a break . Good to hear your news NOVA, sounds like your friend is well out of it! I think this happens more than we think (a few of my friends have been in similar situations) but then I suppose most people just stick with it, which is sad. Free hair cuts sound good! I did a very similar thing for Andrew Collinge in Liverpool a few years ago, at their training academy for established hairdressers. It's great fun, but I found it really hard just to sit there and not engage with the conversations! How does your hair look? Piccies please!! Good to hear from you too RODEO!! Oh no, not your internet connection!! How are you surviving!!! Oh and while I remember, did you say you might be around the Whitby/Robin hoods bay area end of July?? (this could totally exist in the realms of my imagination!) We're up there again for a week soon so just wondering if slight chance of a meet-up? (and you too Twinkle if in N.E at that time??). Right, at work so best get some done...bit early for lunch

LaylaandSethsmum · 13/07/2007 22:49

Hi
Having a night on my own tonight ( have drunk far too much wine) DH has gone to Derby's beer festival with my dad and brother!
Rodeo - yes we should meet up in the hols i'm off for 3 of the weeks so (weather permitting) we should aim for the park. Layla would love to be with Bella she loves bigger girls!!
We had school report this week, all good she has a "natural talent for anything creative"
and is a " lively ,popular and polite member of the class" I can't believe that her reception year is almost over its too scary!
ChaCha _ Holiday sounds great it has gone really fast! We've got a week in Weymouth to look forward to , most probably in the rain!!

Nova - Hi! Glad all is well with you all, my kids get these temperatures too sometimes, nothing ever comes of it guess its there bodies way of fighting off whatever it is they have picked up. Your friend sounds like she is better off out of all that crap - not easy to do though!

Diege - Hi! Nice to see you, we should try and meet up again soon maybe after the hols ? Hope you enjoy your holidays.

HI to everyone else Londoner, GG,Beks, Feetheart, Twinkle, Brownie and anyone else i've missed!!

PS Anyone got any ideas on getting rid of verrucas quickly? Layla has one we are doing the bazuka thing but its taking forever, i've sugeested that i could cut it out but, suprisingly, shes not keen! They're such a pain xxxxxx

twinkle1 · 14/07/2007 09:00

Diege let me know the dates you are in whitby and i will arrange to go up home for a few days so we can head for whitby
If the weather had been nice i was going to suggest a camping weekend that the northern people could meet up at!! but as the weather go's at the min maybe not hope it dries out soon.DS1 is away at annual camp with he scouts this weekend, think he wil be using his tent as a canoe we are having so much rain im soooooo sick of it.Josh is doing well he is sooo active he loves to sing and dance and chase the other two round Yesterday we went to mass with school as dd1 was doing a reading and josh managed to sing twinkle twinkle the whole way through the other school kids were very amusednot sure what the priest thought????
So a quiet weekend with only 2 kids and dd1 is off to a party this afternoon only one yeah!!!!!!!!!!
well i should go and make some breakfast for everyone.
Twinkle & Josh

Diege · 14/07/2007 12:50

Hi everyone! Good to hear your news L&S ; not much advice for the persistant verruca I'm afraid; I've had one for years that gets especially big and painful during pregnancies, and just sort of lingers the rest of the time (I have found treatments, but can't bring myself to have more 'invasive' surgery!)Hi TWINKLE!!! We are in Whitby for a week, arriving next Saturday and coming back the following Sat - pretty flexible apart from the 27th (J's birthday) when we are at Flamingo Land. Also, do you fancy Salford this wed? Dds 1 & 2 are at school/nursery trip, so virtually childless! Isn't one easy when you're used to 3 (not downplaying how hard one is when you're used to none!). Let me know either way (not sure if your's have broken up yet).
Well, dh is on a mountain bike in Scotland (rather him than me with this weather) so battling with 5.30am starts and the rest until late Sunday. Have bravely agreed to a friend's garden party do this afternoon - just hope I can keep them under control! Have a cream cake with my name on it waiting for me if I can just get through . Think there is a good reality tv thing starting tonight (RODEO???)- a dance competition? Oh and must say how fab BB was last night (sorry Cha cha!) - how deluded is Charley!
Speak later!

BrownieBells · 15/07/2007 20:37

Hello all!
update on T's rash - it has now gone - how weird is that!? Seems totally fine, but am going to keep on with the piriton anyway.

He is beginning to say lots more words, and is learning every day! Now says Daddy quite clearly, and says Mumma, Nanna, and Grandad is GaGa (not literally you understand!? )

No advice here for verrucae either - have to say I did end up having mine cut out many years ago (ouch!) not something I would recommend unless you had to tho.

Am off to a sensory workshop tomorrow with T and my friend and her 2 girls. We signed up for it last week at the playgroup - no idea what it's all about, but thought it would make a change!! It's being run by an artist who apparently goes into schools to work with the kids - so we'll see!

Am off to see what I can find on the interweb now! Particularly roasting dishes as the non-stick has come of our expensive tin which we bought from lakeland plastics last year - bugger....
Hope you are all well and having lovely weekends
Brownie

Beksmum · 15/07/2007 22:37

Hi girls

Hope you've all had a good weekend. Ours has been fab, we went to Le Grand Cirque yesterday, which was fab, T was a bit worried at first but in the 2nd half he sat up saying "wow" and pointing all the time. B enjoyed it too but think he would have preferred more slapstick comedy.

Feetheart there was a girl after your own heart there, she was doing the hula hoop only thing was she could do about 40 at a time - will be expecting that from you next time we see you.

Diege hope you got through the weekend ok.

BB hope T enjoys his class a friend of mine does it with her little lad and he loves it, but he is about a year younger than our tots.

Nova how fab with your new hairdo, have you posted pictures yet? How do you do clubbing till 3am - I'm having enough troube staying awake till 3pm at the moment - very

GG and Chacha loving the updates on the boys and yours Nova, can't believe the little ones are coming on so fast - where does the time go.

Chacha holiday sounds fab by the way again very

Can I have a proud sister moment please, my brother cycled the 26 mile bikeathon in aid of Leukemia Research today. He only took up cycling in April and I am so proud of him. He reckoned it would take him 4 hours and he did it in 2. We were supposed to meet him at the finish line but it took us so long to get into London that he finished half an hour before we got there!!!

Right best go as dh wants his pc back, hi to everyone else and here's to a happy, sunny and stress free 6 weeks hols which for me starts on wednesday afternoon - arrgghhhh!!! Beks

twinkle1 · 16/07/2007 13:21

hi all,
Diege i can do this wed with only one kid
what time do you want to meet in the food court????
twinkle

Diege · 16/07/2007 21:00

Hi to everyone . Had just written a post then pressed 'preview' and ...it disappeared . Will stick to typos! Good to read your news BB - how as the class? Hi BEKS! Good luck for your super-early starting school hols! We start dd1's next week ; I'm sure you will be fine; you always seem so CAPABLE and postive about things!!
Hi TWINKLE!!! Yah, 2 babies between us - what will we do with ourseleves!! . Just a thought, but do you fancy the new golden square precincy in Warrington? Loads of shops, including a Lush, Pumpkin Patch (good sale on!), Millies Cookies, plus a fab ice cream cafe..Your choice entirely, just remember you saying you fancied it a while ago . Right, pushing on with marking..in the final trimester I think..can't be long now..

twinkle1 · 17/07/2007 08:14

hi Diege,
Is it ok if we stick with the outlet mall this time as i have to drop off some letters there for school?? But would love to do golden square next time How is 11am in the food court???
