GreedyGecko · 26/06/2007 12:26

Oh Beks, poor little man.

Good luck Rodeo, hope the weathers OK your end.

Londoner, I have a family calendar. Has a column for each of us. Its so easy to see at a glance whats going on.

We've got a skip coming on Friday, so will have a great chance to let out any anger and frustration ripping the kitchen out.

BrownieBells · 26/06/2007 20:39

Helo All!! Just a quick one from me (yeah right! )

Londoner - I too hope that the weather improves somewhat for camp - we go on Friday still think I must be a screw loose or something!! Not taking T this time, although I could if I wanted too - but would need to take an extra leader to compensate for any time I would obviously have to devote to him (if that makes sense!?). That's why I still don't mind giving up my time to do these things, cos if I need to take my child / children along, then there are always ways and means!
Please - no singing or rain dances - I NEED good weather both on Friday to get all of the tents up, and from Sat night and Sunday, to ensure I get them all down dry.....

I have major exciting news (well I think it's exciting anyway!) We are going aborad this year......!!!! (but without T - as I too cannot face taking him abroad for a number of reasons - which I know is all personal choice - but that's just me...) anyway, we are going to Sapin for a long weekend in November - to stay with dh's step brother (who moved out there just before T was born) - can't wait - don't even know where in Spain he lives am just v excited about going!

Right, off to get sorted and settle down to watch CSI.
Hopefully speak before Camp on Friday! (but please forgive me if I am v. quiet before and after then!!!)

P.S Sorry for lack of love and wishes for all others - how rude!!

Oh - and I use an Organised Mum Diary - it's fab!! (specially for a sieve-head like me! (Post-It note Patty or whatever else you'd like to call me!).
Am shortly going to be ordering my next year's diary - justc an't decide between the A5 or the slimline one......ooh the choice!

Rodeo · 27/06/2007 13:20

Hi!
Thank you all for the good luck wishes, completed my run yesterday! In 31mins exactly Ran with my running 'partner', who must have legs a foot longer than mine(!) we've both got a similar pace and got tired at different times which was really good as we bouyed each other on through those moments! Even managed a sprint finish! I really enjoyed it! Though all i dreamt about last night was running! Phew!
Brownie, good luck for camp, gulp! We're supposed to be camping next weekend - might change to B&B last minute though!
Beks, how is T now? Jess was sick too yesterday but seems to be fine today, her face is a bit rashy though and her back bottom teeth are just breaking through so maybe it was that.
GG, enjoy demolishing your kitchen this weekend!
Londoner, everything goes on my calendar! Although dp has a habit of throwing those bits of paper from playgroup/school with 'dates to remember' I'm forever at the school office asking 'When is....?' That's probably why I'm on the PTA - to make up for general my crap-ness
Bye for now x

Londoner · 27/06/2007 20:40

Well done Rodeo! Wow, 31 minutes, how far did you say it was 3km? Hope you had a nice hot bath when you got in? Lol at dh chucking school letters, same here, seem to spend my life talking to school about something or other too. The summer term is always so chokka isn't it? How is Jess this eve any more signs of sick? Hope she's over it.
Thanks for calendar tips/suggestions girls it's always helpful to know how others cope and BB I am thinking of getting one of the organised mum products you mentioned.... if you put a link on here I'll buy it through that so you'll get 10% off your next order. I think I'll go for the fridge magnet white board, although it's 'only' got space for 5 peoples' stuff on it'll do I reckon.
Beks, how's everything going at your place?
Well, think I might get a chance to watch a bit of telly tonight, hooray!
GG, how on earth are you coping with half your kitchen ripped out and what'll you do once you've ripped the rest out? Will you be camping with the calor gas stove in the front room type thing? What a nightmare. Hope you manage to sort it all quickly.

OMG BB the raaaaaaaaaain, is it the same where you are? Hope not.

BrownieBells · 27/06/2007 21:53

Well done Rodeo - bet you feel great!

Londoner - weather isn't looking too hot at the mo - infact quite a bit of rain is forecast - but ever the optimist, I am hoping for a bit of sun and lots of drier spells
Once I get my link thro from Organised Mum (just waiting for account approval) I will need to work out how to get the link to you - assume it should work direct off here - will wait and see and give it a go anyway, otherwise, will need to email you the link - anyway, I;ll get it sorted! and thanks for saying you will purchase via me, very kind of you. I have loved my O.M diary this year - just can't decide whether to go slimline or A5 - ooh the choices!

Right, still trying to sort out who can go in which tent with whom - not an easy task!

Not even thought about packing my rucksack, or getting my bedding roll sorted or anything yet! Got to go and do the camp shop tomorrow night - after yoga (see I told you I was mental!)

Right - enough, off to bed with you woman!

Beksmum · 28/06/2007 10:19

Hi girls

Londoner, jst in case you come on here and don't check your e-mails. I'm going to have to cancel tomorrows meet up as T is still not well, am taking him back to the drs today, so definitely don't want to pass on a bug to you guys, can we try for next week instead?

BB In case we don't see any more of you this week, hope you have a great time at camp, rafting and canoeing were on the agenda weren't they? Wishing you lots of sunshine and non leaking tents oh and well behaved girls of course

Rodeo well done on your run, what a star, sounds like you really enjoyed it too.

Right T is in meltdown so better go, love to all Beks

Londoner · 28/06/2007 14:47

Hi all,

Just a quick post from me to say -Beks you poor things, really hope little T is better very soon poor lamb. You must be exhausted what with having it yourself and caring for lo with it all week. Looking forward to a meet up next week instead.

BrownieBells · 28/06/2007 18:26

Ok - for those that are interested in the Organised Mum stuff (which I would highly recommend!) here is a link, which will generate me some money off my next order (I think!?)
organised mum - Emma

Right - off to yoga soon, then to do food shop for camp!
Yes - camp is still on - please all pray for some reasonable weather......

Beks - hope your little T gets better soon.....let usknow what the doc says

Love to all - probably won't be on much this weekend - obviously!

x

Londoner · 28/06/2007 18:55

Thanks Brownie, it's done, hope it works out for you at the checkout and wishing you a fabulous Brownie Camp this weekend!

novadandypowder · 28/06/2007 20:40

Just a quickie to say, Chacha - I would leave the boys in their pyjamas for the journey, as they will (hopefully!) drift in and out of sleep on the plane and comfy clothes would help that. Otherwise put them to bed in joggers and a t-shirt and add a long sleeve top or jacket in the morning. I don't think you'll fancy changing them at the airport, and it's not that necessary.

Oh, and don't do what my DH did and give ds1 chocolate on the plane - it goes everywhere!!

ChaCha · 29/06/2007 09:32

Good morning

Nova - Thank you, good idea there Hope you and your LOs are all well.

Beks - I'm sorry to hear that DS is poorly, poor lad Hope he gets better soon!

Rodeo - Well done, you did it! Hurray!

BB - Great link, I like ALL of them and hate making decisions, especially when it comes to things like that. I like the fact that they are 16mth and not just the standard 12. Do I give you my order or just do something at the checkout? Will get onto that on return from hols.

Londoner - Hope you managed a little time to yourself, makes all the difference doesn't it? We will be in the SW of Turkey - near Olu Deniz/Fethiye. Looking fwd to the Saklikent Gorge, looks lush.

GG - at all that is going on in your kitchen...hope you get it all sorted asap and are enjoying some time out.

Well, I am almost packed, have half a pharmacy in one suitcase (just in case syndrome) and just a few more bits to do today. Have my mum and her OH here and MIL/FIL on their way (you'd think we were going for a year) and am bound to hear 'don't let them out of your sight/don't leave them in the sun/take good care of our boys/etc..' at least a hundred times today in stereo

Diege - hope you're well, haven't seen a post x

Have a lovely weekend everyone, I will see you all soon - byyeeee x

Rodeo · 29/06/2007 11:56

Morning!
Oh isn't this weather miserable! Although fortunately my mum didn't get flooded out the other night, though lots did.
Chacha, enjoy your hols and the sunshine! It will be lovely But please remember don't let them out of your sight/don't leave them in the sun/take good care of our boys/etc..
Brownie, wishing you loads of luck for the weekend! Don't let them anywhere near any rivers FGS!
Londoner, just to clarify, ahem... it was 5km!! I will have a look at Brownie's link too, there's hope for us yet!
Well Bella's Sports Day has been cancelled for the second time, I've been trying to take the horse out in the brief dry spells, going up later but not hopeful, think it may be a tack cleaning afternoon. Joe has a friend over afterschool, then Bella has a school disco, then I'm going for a meal with my mum and sister So I don't know what I'm doing on here...loads to do!
Bye for now! x x x

Hi everyone . Have been snowed under with marking, hence my infrequent postings! Still 2 weeks worth, but need to come up for air once in a while! That organiser looks great BROWNIE; we have a similar one, but for me the problem lies in a/ actually tranferring dates/info TO the diary, and secondly, actually LOOKING at it!!! so, no can't say it makes my life easier! Great going with the run RODEO!! In did try to textb you, but still can't even form a single word . Have you got the running bug now? There are some good 10ks around the country end of summer/autumn time.
Oh this weather is the pits!!! Stuck in with dds this afternoon while dh is at a footie thing, and heaqding out just isn't an option with buggy etc. May be the dreaded crafts

GreedyGecko · 01/07/2007 01:44

hi i'm drunk again! no surprise there tjem! i think hough that i mnaged to pee all mu friends offbyu being so drunk! major problem is my best friend was dumped yesterday by a t* that i've never liked, and then today while we're out i see my neice who's frineds( didn't kniw Kiki was friends with rough bird) with 'rough bird' whoi is his friend, so bit of an awkward situation. (I reallly rond't remeber being this drunk ever. i probably havem and only seem to post here atm when i'm wasted. Rodeo, |I rhink you wee probably right whenj you said somehting baout me being a 'raginf drunkard'! Well done on your raxce for life, qnd good luck diege wirh your marking [ really want to go to sleep, but hae to fovr my eyes cos i see about 4 or 5 else. i am such a drunken bum anren't i. cxx love you all GG xx

GreedyGecko · 01/07/2007 09:06

Blimey I don't remember half that post. The 1st bit I remember, but not the last. My neice btw isn't called Kiki, don't know where that came from. I'm drinking so much when I go out now, I used to only have about 2 or 3 bottles of wkd before going onto water, but I seem to be having cocktail jugs to myself, or loads of aftershocks too. I spent £40 last night , worked it out though, and I had 18 drinks . No wonder I was so wasted!

Kitchens a bit of a wreck, it has been good fun though & very theraputic ripping the floor up & nails out of the floor and ceiling. Unfortunately we found another leak, some very knackered wires (so surprised nothing has happened, they're
totally exposed and frayed in places) and a huge hole in the wall. Part of the wall on the kitchen side has actually fallen inside the cavity, so that needs sorting, we found that the wall unit that was there was actually being held up by plaster. Its amazing it stayed up. So its proving to be a much bigger, more expensive task than we'd anticipated. My bank statements are just huge lists of payments to B&Q. I think we should move in there!

Hope the weathers better for you Brownie than it is here. Os summer fayre was yesterday & theres a summer fayre over the road at the hospital today that we were going to go to.

GreedyGecko · 01/07/2007 13:11

O M G !
My mum phoned earlier asking if she could come round tomorrow. Nothing unusual, she usually comes over on a monday, but then she went on to say that if O wanted to the boys could go to theirs on Sat and stay the night. Oh yes, I snapped that offer up as quick as I possibly could! I think I've got that night off too, so DP and I will be able to get out again which is great.

Anyway, if I don't 'speak' to you during the week, I'll probably be on early hours of Sat morning as I'm out Friday night!

Diege · 01/07/2007 15:06

GG, that's great news about next weekend! Isn't it funny how a simple 'childfree' night can cause such excitement, lol! I'm exactly the same, and am already looking forward to next exam meeting in London next Jan . Speaking of which must get back to marking - dh has taken dds to MIL to give me time to get some done, but so far have been hovering from computer, to kettle, to eastenders, and waiting for a rain-break to dash to shops for choccie!!

Londoner · 02/07/2007 10:09

Hey girls, good morning,

Diege, good to hear from you! LOL @ 'hovvering' between computer, kettle and telly, can sooo relate to that when am tired/busy/stressed.... which you prob are with life changes ahead but, I imagine, not really much time to contemplate atm.
Was thinking about you at a party as a mum was chatting to me about work and asking about my career - I said my ambition is to stay at home until kids are at school and then to be able to work around the school day- and it struck me what a balance you seem to acheive raising a family and having a career in tandem, something I would struggle to juggle not so much physically (although that has obvious challenges) but emotionally.
Anyhow ramble ramble.

Rodeo, 5km is even more impressive, and you ran all the way! Glad to hear your mum escaped the worst of the flooding, a very worrying time for you all.

GG, oh horrors about your kitchen what a nightmare for you. Hope you manage to patch things up after your heavy night and lucky you on next weekend your parents sound like stars.

BB fingers crossed you had/are having a good Brownies camp.

ChaCha, SW Turkey how gorgeous, you lucky things. Nova good advice on the travelling. I would say I have heard going into a gorge with small children can be very difficult as it can be a long and hot/dry journey and once you're in there it can take a while to get out if you tire. I have avoided them on our travels to Europe having been given this advice myself, hope it's okay to say that.
Am v.impressed you're packing little and often, really good plan, you're so organised!

Beks, how are you and your boys? Really hope you've seen the back of that illness in your house now and if so we might meet up this week although I understand if not.

Hi Feetheart, did that cheque clear? Keeping my fingers crossed it went through for you. Hope you and Houdini are well..... is he in a big bed now?

Pardon the essay..... will get out to toddler group now and leave you all in peace.

LaylaandSethsmum · 02/07/2007 12:50

BrownieBells · 02/07/2007 20:20

Hello!!!

I am back - and just about dried out!!!!!
Managed to get all the tents up on Friday in the dry (and at times quite warm!) weather - rain set in on Fri night. All girls had a fabulous time, only a couple of them got homesick which I thought was good, as not many of them had been away from Mummy &Daddy before - so was a big first for them (plus they had to sleep in a tent for 2 nights!). Sautrday was reasonable weather, but it started to persist it down with rain on Sat night, and at points yesterday it was just stair-rodding it down!!!! But we survived!! (Despite the 2 hours max sleep I had on Friday night thanks to some other Brownie groups making so much noise in the tents surrounding our camp . They were still going at 3.30am!! and then another unit woke up and got up at 5.30am )

Anyway, we had a blast, it was very hard work - but the fact that all the girls had such a fab time made it all worth while for me....

Today - went to the Royal show - again got soaked!!!! Thomas loved to see the sheep (went round the sheep enclosure saying "Baa"!) and the cows and horses and so on. Also loved the tractors!

Thanks for that Londoner (no idea if it worked - will go off now and check!) I still can't decide whether to have the A5 or slimline diary!

A very wet & muddy Brownie!!

(oh - and in the midst of all that mud and rain - I still managed to get a sun burned face!!!!)

Beksmum · 03/07/2007 23:47

Yay Brownie way to go girl, well done for surviving a weekend full of girls, bet you were glad to get back to just having T weren't you

It's very quiet on here what's going on did I miss something?

A round of applause for me please, as I've just survived my very first PTA meeting

Also a Happy Birthday wish for Rodeo's B, my birthday buddy for Thursday, hope you have lots of fun sweetheart.

Right got to go won't be on till the end of the week as busy, busy busy.

Love to all Beks

GreedyGecko · 04/07/2007 23:14

Have realised its the start of the month, so update time:

S is at times the loveliest, cutest little boy in the world, at other times the biggest pain in the backside! He's a bully. He beats me and O up lots. His behaviour does push us to the point where Tiny Tearaways seems very appealing (and I mean that seriously, not just like the odd threat to O when he misbehaves, but there are times when I really would consider it). His speech is coming on really well, although he doesn't say any easy words . He makes lots of animal sounds and words he says are; daddy; brother; dirty; aeroplane; tractor and he tries to say helicopter! He loves Socatots, and has made some friends there and is really starting to join in properly now, and do all the songs. He doesn't like to be in a pushchair, so is in his reins most of the time (yes, I succumbed (sp?) and bought some). He can be a right little Mr Independent, but then flip to being a clingon.

novadandypowder · 05/07/2007 09:21

Well, yesterday was supposed to be my first morning sans children but noo had other ideas and got a fever that resulted in her being off nursery for the day - sleep? what's that??

Anyhoo, from what I can make out, Rodeo did a very impressive run, Chacha is on holiday (although I do believe she has a very impressive security system), you're all growing things in your kitchens , Diege got a new job, GG has been having some good nights out, Brownie got a bit wet and LilJ popped back on. Well done everyone .

Updates:
Noo is now nearly 21months and wonderful, I get amazed by her cleverness, she doesn't tantrum too much and I can generally tell what will/has caused them. Her speech is still struggling but we can usually work out what she wants. We're still swimming she's hit a bit of a wall (refuses to touch floats), but we'll keep going and hope she'll get used to them. She's a big girl in both height and weight, and her hair is still quite slow at coming through - she's currently sporting a very fetching 'mum cut'. She's very lovely to Miniman, it's so great to watch them together. She loves play dates and gets on with other children very well, DH is very impressed at how good she is at eating her greens, and she's really into reading - her favourite book being 'Brown bear brown bear what do you see' (which I can now read without seeing the words). 12 teeth, so I'm sure there are more to come, but they can stay away for a while.

Miniman is now 16 weeks and has started waking for food in the night so I think we'll be weaning before 6 months! He's very chilled and smiley, he only gets really narky if he's hungry or tired. He doesn't really cry he just goes straight to screaming (very high pitched!) which I think he may have got from noo as she shrieks to get our attention. He suddenly seems to be very big, although last time we got him weighed he was bang on his centile line. He's currently going through his hand sucking stage, which keeps making him gag.

I am still pole dancing, although am so physically tired at the mo it can be quite difficult. I can now do a hand stand from upsidedown to off the pole, which I'm very happy about. DH has had a good year at work so we're hoping to buy a holiday home on the coast (near Worthing) by the end of the year and use that for holidays instead of trying to go away while Noo and Miniman are still young.

Time seems to slip away from me, I really don't know where it goes, and I don't know how people with more than one child can post so much on MN!!

GreedyGecko · 05/07/2007 12:53

Hi, I forgot to reply to you Diege when you asked about shrieking LOs. S does this a lot, but for him I know that it is only when he doesn't get his own way, (so most of the time!), but you have my sympathies with it, you really do, as it is horrible isn't it. I just tend to stick my ground with it and hoping that once he realises no matter how much high pitched shrieking he does he's not going to get what he wants all the time.
