Thanks TWINKLE . Hope you have a good time and grab some bargains! NOVA: I want a Phil & Teds now!!! Not sure if I can justify one if ttc come Spring - though L will still need a buggy while she's 3 for nursery etc...ooh, I can sense pre-ttc shopping planning coming on!
Have managed to get 'cover' from dh for later this afternoon, so still able to go to book launch thingy . Making the most of the time at home and getting some more wrapping done! Hope everyone is fine - is it as frosty elswhere as here? ( &TWINKLE'S snow-frost!!).

ChaCha · 13/12/2007 14:32

Hope L is feeling better asap Diege, poor little lamb, it's horrible when they're poorly.

Twinkle - LOL at chickens! Hope you enjoyed lunch - i could very much do with someone cooking for me today, have no energy at all. Got 2 whole hours of sleep with them on the sofa again but i could easily sleep the day away. I'm so tired and feel soooo lazy and have so much to do...[yawn]
Finger painting this morning was hysterical, DS2 is not one to be left watching - what a mess!

Hope everyone else is well. x

feetheart · 13/12/2007 14:36

Hello,
ANy takers on this facebook thing? Still can't gett he hang of it, and don't appear to have (m)any friends on it yet.....
Think might have to phone Docs tomorrow for T - he has had nasty green snot type cold for over a fortnight, and now quite a chesty hacking style cough - it's not going anywhere, don't think he is too bothered by it, but it just seems to be hanging around - think I need to get a Quacks opinion - you think?

I am ashamed to say, I am not organised at all this year for Christmas......not even sure who I've still left to buy for, and I have NO IDEA what to get for my Secret Santa Babe.......at this rate it will be a NewYear Secret!!!

Right, am off now to see if I can find anymore friends for Facebook - please take pity on me, it's gonna be cold and lonely else!?

B

Bekxmastreemum · 13/12/2007 22:52

Brownie, I'm on there, as is GG, Londoner and Rodeo.

I'm on there under my proper name which i think you'll find on the Y group, if not I'll go and post it there now!

Twinkle crack up at the chickens, your house sounds as mad if not madder than mine.

Diege hope L is feeling better soon

L&S got your message about my SS present, lol at who ever forgot to put it was from the Secret Santa [Smile]

Right best give hubby back his pc, speak soon Beks

BeksSecretSanta · 14/12/2007 09:07

I ordered it online Beks, and didn't think it would get to me in time to then repost out to you, so I got it sent straight to you. It was only when I'd finished that I realised there had been no option for a gift message, so you would have no idea who it was from. So, if you get something addressed to T next week, it'll be his secret santa present, so don't open it until the 25th!

ChaCha · 14/12/2007 09:54

I'm only just getting used to Facebook myself - found two of my really good school friends that i'd lost touch with when i moved abroad - it's great. Am also using real name.

BB - I would take him to the DR but then that's just me. Since DS had the tonsilitis that i didn't notice I take precaution. Hopefully is just a bad cold.

DC here are unwell so won't be helping anyone other than myself today. Up all night one being sick then the other, have made their beds twice through the night and in the end i took them downstairs to play at 4.30am. Finally having tired themselves out they went back to sleep at around 7ish followed by DH waking me up as he had to get to work, one up one still sleeping and a lot of washing to be done.

Diege - Are you still taking driving lessons? I had my last lesson years ago (pre-kids) and have told myself that the buses are manageable, i dont worry about parking, cost of car etc..etc.. until yesterday someone brought it up and made me think again. She was actually horrified that i get on the bus with two children and go into town - couldn't believe it - but then if you've never done it suppose it may seem odd...hmm! Anyhow, i remember you mentioning a similar scenario a while back so though i'd ask you if you were still taking lessons. I'm not too old am i?
I'll show 'em!! lol. But seriously, with 3 small children may be a good idea, don't you think?

Hope i haven't gone on too long, has been a logn night talking to myself and singing various songs. And m/s decided it would kick in today - not complaining though.

Thanks girls x

RuDiegetheRedNosedReinDiege · 14/12/2007 10:28

Hello! . Had a nice evening out with fellow-authors at our book launch. Went to Est Est Est, but was seriously unimpressed with the service and asked for service charge to be removed. Waiter handed my friend a plate that was way beyond 'hot' (rather than taking 2 extra seconds to place it on the table)resulting in the tips of her fingers being scalded. They weren't especially bothered, but her fingers were still really sore at the end of the meal . Apart from that (and train being cancelled) it was a good night!
BB - think I would get it checked out too at the DRs - if cough is 'loose' it's a good sign as means it's upper respiritory and hasn't gone onto chest. I think they get concerned if it seems 'tight' and will proscribe antibitoics. I think I'd get a GP to take a look just because it's over 2 weeks.
CHACHA - you know I had the same earbashing' about lessons last night, and I am getting seriously p**sed off about the way that people seem seriously conerned that you don't drive. As you can guess, I've not started my lessosn again , and tbh I don't think I will. My reasoning is that I've always walked/bused/trained everywhere with dds, and to work, and in that way haven't really known any different. I think they get a really good experience using public transport though it can be stressful. It doesn't stop us doing what we'd like to do (then I would contemplate driving I think), just takes a bit more planning (but then with 3 Los it does anyway! For eg. after the school pick-up we'll be getting the bus into town to take dds for haircuts, then onto MCdonalds for tea (promised treat )then bus back home. On those occasions where bussing is impossible (eg. our clinic doesn't have a bus route book a 'pink ladies' taxi, which is child-friendly and driven by women (the dds think they are 'Barbie Cars', lol). I figure that at £25 an hour per lesson, the occasional taxi is economical! I think you've hit the nail on the head when you say a lot of these people who imply we're crazies don't actually use public transport - each to their own i say! Even if I have another lo, don't think this in itself would make me resume lessons, though never say never!
Rant over! diege

RuDiegetheRedNosedReinDiege · 14/12/2007 10:33

Have to add CHACHA (still ranting) I find it odd that your frined thinks it's unbelieveable to take 2 los on a bus into town - ????The buses are full of families round here, and it's the norm to see double buggies etc, plus toddlers older children on them from the same familily. Right, I'll shhut up now, but just wanted to say I think I'd be more surprised at her attitude than the idea of taking children on public transport

RuDiegetheRedNosedReinDiege · 14/12/2007 10:34

Me again Can't believe I didn;t mention your LOs sickness . Poor, poor you; you must be shattered Think I would be pulling my hair out by now. Take it easy and hope the boys get well soon!

twinkle1 · 14/12/2007 17:34

RuDiegetheRedNosedReinDiege · 15/12/2007 15:00

Oh no CHACHA, hope you're felling slightly better - 'better in a shitey sort of way' does not sound good!!! Do you think you've got a bit of what the LOs have got, or has morning sickness and general pregnancy bleughh got into its stride? Here's hoping you get some rest this weekend and start to feel more like yourself soon. Thought of you yesterday comrade as I waited over 40 minutes for a bus with dds!!!

JINGLEbrownieBELLS · 15/12/2007 17:38

Thanks all.....haven't taken T to Drs yet, as cough seems to be improvign (runny nose now gone) - it is definitely more loose than tight, and am giving him Tixylix, which obviously loosens more and helps him cough. Don't think he is too bothered, will see how he is on Monday.

Thanks to our SS - present arrived (although Mummy did open it, as wasn't sure what it was - sorry Santa!)

Right, off to see if I have any more friends on FB!

DH is present wrapping before we go out for his works Xma meal tonight! I wrote all the cards, and did all the present buying, so I am deservedly putting my feet up on here!

Bekxmastreemum · 15/12/2007 17:39

Hi girls, Sympathies to all those who are poorly, mums and lo's both. Hope you'll all be feeling better soon.

Chacha and Diege I must admit I'm a complete car feind and can't bear to go on the bus unless I really have too but in all fairness went into town on the bus today and it put Tom to sleep, he slept while I shopped and only woke up as we got off the bus home so maybe there is something to be said for public transport afterall

Thanks for the secret santa message, I'm still trying to work out who it is, I wonder if the present will give me a clue?

Diege didn't you say something about complimentary copies of this book when youfirst started writing it, we all want a signed first edition in case you trun out the be the next JK Rowling!

Wish me luck girls I'm entertaining at a high school musical party tomorrow and I've just shown the party girl the routine and she was less than impressed to say the least, so there's a good possibility I'll be shaking my pom poms to 19 girls all staring at me like I'm a lunatic - nothing new there then!!!

Right the limpet is coming up the stairs saying "where's mummy" so best go, love to all and here's to mulled wine and christmas spirit Beks

RuDiegetheRedNosedReinDiege · 15/12/2007 22:26

Hi BEKS!! Wow, High school musical party sounds great. My dds will be very . Good luck!
Well I buckled and took £50 from Ashgate rather than additional copies! I have one myself, natch, and the book is called Risk and the Everyday, eds. Raisborough and Scott Jones, publishes Ashgate, though at £50 a shot a bit pricey for stockingfiller (it's hard back! ).
Right, best go, X-factor result on any minute!

twinkle1 · 15/12/2007 22:50

evening all,
just got back from swimming gala evening. And discovered i had won my phil and ted on ebay yeahhhh brand new, new model 300.00 with doubles kit and extras.
twinkle

novadandypowder · 16/12/2007 08:40

oo oo twinkle, what extras did you get?

RuDiegetheRedNosedReinDiege · 16/12/2007 10:16

Congrats TWINKLE!!! Yes, agree with NOVA, we need DETAILS!!!! What colour, etc, etc...
Yet again another children's party here, although dd1 isn't invited so I', taking her to a play barn...not sure if it's me or dh who has drawn the short straw! Hoping to get a few more bits and pieces bought today for Xmas...it really has been 'drip drip' buying this year, which is satisfying but does feel like I'll never be finished! Love to all, diege x

twinkle1 · 16/12/2007 13:03

Right its the black one (which is good as it is very muddy up here ) I got the doubles kit, the double rain cover and the kit so you can use a car seat.Oh and its the new 07 model with the mud flaps and reclinable second seat so im quite happy with that deal.Just got back from judo comp with the kids (there 1st one) ds1 took silver and dd1 took bronze!!!! very proud mummy moment.Did sound like a fish wife at comp though when i suddenly heard myself shout go on holly knack him Its the hormones
right must go and feed them
Twinkle

Bekxmastreemum · 17/12/2007 00:19

Twinkle rofl at Knack him

Diege always available for hire mates rates of course!

Survived the party although the kids did try to suffocate me with their pom poms and knock my head off with the custard pies, still I guess it's not often they get to get their own back on the entertainer is it!!!

Have two poorly boys here B has conjunctivitus and a bad cold and T just has the cold at the moment but I'm sure he'll have a go at getting sore eyes too although he did look at B and say "yuck eyes" so hopefully he may have stayed away from him!

Hope you've all had a good weekend Beks

novadandypowder · 17/12/2007 13:56

sounds like a really good deal Twinkle. I've also got a spare pannier in charcoal you can have if you want, you can only buy them in pairs, but I only use one as otherwise you can't access the basket underneath.

Forgot to mention this last week. I've always put noo in sleeping bags, but suddenly, totally out of the blue, she decided she didn't want to sleep in them any more . Luckily I had a toddler duvet stashed away that my parents got her last xmas, otherwise I'm not sure what I would have done. She's now totally happy with her duvet, which is good I suppose as I was wondering when she would make the transition.

twinkle1 · 17/12/2007 17:34

Nova yes please and thank you you must let me give you something towards this stuff though!!!!
Now can i pick your brains do you have the cocoon or suggle sack? and are they any good??? think i may want them if you rate them Glad Noo is happy in her duvet all my lot love them, they would bring them down stairs and spend all day in them if i let them
Blimey i forgot what a pain ms is, had to laugh on sat we had a run to ikea and had to take a bucket with me for trip DS1 was not impressed that mum is throwing up!! apparantly im "Gross".Charming eh
right must go and get them ready as we have judo at 6.15, last one before christmas thank god
