Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
novadandypowder · 17/11/2007 10:09

Sorry, Beks keep meaning to post, but most of my computer time seems to be taken up with ordering things for the new house. I was getting very this week as I have spent hours oredering stuff online only for the orders not to go through. Turns out I have a security function on my credit card so that if I try to do a large transcation that seems a bit suspicious it gets declined! Grrrr, think I have managed to get the order right with Tesco, we'll see if it comes today....I have to wait in all day with two little ones as DH is out, it had better come.....

Had to take noo for an xray last week. I pulled her out of a ball pit at the local soft play by her hands and she started crying and holding her arm. I thought she was over-reacting because she was tired so just took her home and put her to bed. The next day it was really swollen and she couldn't move it . Turns out it was her elbow, and the hospital managed to click it back into place.

Miniman is sitting well now and has his first tooth, but is being a real bugger with food.

Right better get back to it, I hear whinging.

ChaCha · 18/11/2007 13:26

Hello everyone,

How are you all? I have read everyone's news at intervals over the week but now come to posting and can't remember all that has been said so apologies in advance if i leave anyone out - sieve brain!

Beks - Sounds great! Tell me more..tell me more... Are you enjoying it? Think i missed some of the details from previous posts - have you set this up on your own, and well done! Boys must be really excited about it too.

Nova - Aww...but she's okay now? Bless her. Hopefully the welcome Tesco van arrived!

GG - How are you? I missed a lot of your posts..are you on your own now with the boys? I need to go back a page or two i think.

BB - Nice that he can tell you what he wants, have no idea what to get DS1, his B'day is a couple of weeks away yet. Was thinking of one of those big climbing frame/slide things for the garden but no point at this time of year is there? He had so many presents for Eid I can't justify anymore toys - am sick of them - and he hardly plays with them TBH, quite happy with a hairdryer/hoover/wire etc..

Well, we are back and settled once again, we were freezing on arrival, a difference of over 25 degrees..brrr! The boys are fine, DS2 is happy to follow DS1 everywhere and takes abuse from him when he 'overcrowds' him and cuddles and kisses, shares drinks and scraps of food with him when in better moods. DH wasn't too happy about job offer, probably felt a bit pushed out TBH as I was self-sufficient with job, appartment and places for the kids and enough to live on comfortably while he stayed on finishing off the loose ends here - feel a bit selfish now for having pushed it but never mind, we are discussing something else now that should suit all the family and i'm starting another degree in February so that i can teach languages (i hope!) That's all my news in a nutshell, would like to ask you all about toilet training - I am just sitting him on the loo every so often at the moment as he tells me sometimes he needs to go every VERY so often just so that he can wash and skiddaddle about in the bathroom Tips?

Hope to see some posts....has been a while x

novadandypowder · 18/11/2007 19:57

So were you teaching whilst abroad chaha? I thought you 'd been offered a post to do here on your return, am very confused now . I think you're amazing if you travelled with the two, did a job, and supported you all when you were travelling . Will your degree be part time when you start in Feb? Are you planning on doing more travels now that you've had a successful experience or are you tied to the UK? Can't help on toilet training I'm afraid, I've gone as far as buying a book! I'm being quite lazy about it at the mo as noo seems to be regressing a bit with miniman around (wants to be spoon fed, lays down for nappy changes, wants to be carried/in the buggy) so think I may wait for this phase to pass. If she's without a nappy though she will ask for one if she wants to go to the toliet, she just won't go on the potty.

Tesco delivery came at 10.30 woo hoo. We got to go to the park and everything! However now my house is full of boxes and lots of sheets and towels that need to be washed before first use.

The parties sound like fun Beks, but can't say I envy you having to entertain that many kids.

Beksmum · 18/11/2007 21:27

Hi girls

I survived The party went fairly well, a few teething problems but I think the kids enjoyed it.

Chacha how great to have you back. Right explain to me again where you've actually been and about your job and your course I am totally confused but very interested, perhaps we can catch up on the phone soon too, as i know how hard it is to find time to post.

Nova eek at Noo's arm, glad the hospital managed to click it back in place, that is sooo easy to do by the way so don't go beating yourself up about it. Miniman sounds like he is coming on a storm.

Advice on potty training, get a potty and leave it around for them both to get used to, I've also got a kids toilet seat from mothercare which is very good as it's built into the adult seat. If she can tell you when she has had a wee, then change her straight away or if you can spot the signs beforehand, quickly pop her onto the potty and needless to say make a huge huge fuss of her even if she gets the slightest dribble into the potty, you can also put her in knickers when she's around the house if you don't mind the accidents, let her chose her own ones and make her feel like a big girl for being able to wear them. But needless to say if at first you don't succedd then leave it for a while and go back to it, she'll be dry before she's 3. 2 is still pretty early and she seems to be doing very well.

Cor very of your new house, how lovely nothing like a bit of interior designing to cheer a girls heart

Right now I've written an epic I'm off to iron shirts, uniforms and make the packed luch, speak to you all soon

Beks

GreedyGecko · 19/11/2007 20:21

Hi, welcome back ChaCha, So you've been teaching while on your travels? Full of admiration for you. I'm good thanks, preferring it so much with just me and the boys. Have been living the single life this weekend. Boys were with either R or my parents from Thurs so went out with the guys from work Thurs, Fri & Sat night! Casino every night (no gambling though), and back home about 5am!

Nova, bless her, amazing how LOs just seem to get on with things without too much fuss.

Beks, well done on surviving the party. Tell us more! Os friend had a party on sat, and her entertainer reminded me so much of Dave Gorman, his mannerisms, his voice, he was really good.

I really shouldn't be on here. Must make space on my hard drive, somehow have less than 1mb on an 80gb hard drive.

Before I go though I have to have a little scream. AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!Well OK, that was quite a big scream! Do any of you remember the grief I've been having with the Tac credits? Where they messed up and hadn't paid me £10K they claimed to have done, had MP dealong with it, it seemed to be resolving itself (very slowly of course as TCs do ), but on Sat received a demand for me to repay £4096 by 15th December, and today another demand for £2682 by the same date. So been back to see MP today, after phoning TCs and being very nice although I wanted to scream and shout and swear at them. They're just utterly bloody useless. It's all coming from different departments who don't have the ability to communicate with each other. Grrrr! Can you tell it's irked me a little.

Really am off now to make some space on here!

ChaCha · 19/11/2007 22:22

GG - Hope your MP helps you with sorting it all out, nightmare by the sounds of it but fingers crossed you get something out of it and all goes well. I am yet to flip back and find out how you've been, will eventually work it out.

Sorry for any confusion, tried to be as brief as possible so that my posts after some absence were not just all ME ME ME...however, I was not teaching during my stay (although they did ask me to cover lol but could not bring myself to leave the boys in the nursery, they stuck to me like glue for the whole 5 weeks, no joke! I had set up a few interviews from here and from there and got two jobs starting work next August, opted for the school i thought best for the boys as teaching gives a 35% discount of annual tuition fees and was set to return there next summer. That's it! Now DH and I have discussed his country of choice and we are now looking into that (if you remember i told you last month that DH was going on holiday in a neighbouring country and would meet me there towards the end so we could fly home together) well, he prefers his country of choice to mine so we are working that out. It's all the Middle East anyway...same language, different dialect, same traditions more or less, same school system....am just very much more familiar with one than the other. Dubai is also on the cards but seems v.expensive right now. Hope i make sense and have not baffled anyone. Soz.

DS1 told me he did a pooh, thought great, but he is telling me that he has just done one, not that he needs to go....the challenge continues....

Off to surf MN, has been ages...

ChaCha · 19/11/2007 22:24

Beks, it would be nice to catch up, i will email you my numbers. And you are always welcome here if you fancy the drive up.

twinkle1 · 20/11/2007 08:23

Diege Let me know when you cab meet up?????
twinkle

Beksmum · 20/11/2007 22:03

Chacha that would be cool, may do that in the New year, it would be really good to catch up properly.

twinkle1 · 21/11/2007 15:45

Diege that should have read, let me know some dates when we could meet up
twinkle

novadandypowder · 21/11/2007 21:38

Hi everyone
Sounds exciting Chacha, if you're moving countries does that mean home schooling is off the agenda?

Am I allowed to mention the C word yet? Or is christmas out until we hit december ? I'm just really excited this year as we're going away to the place that we got married at - no cooking/cleaning, lots of glorious Scottish countryside and boozing!! Then we're off to stay in our new house for new year, hurrah!

My house is full of boxes, can't wait until we move in next week .

Miniman and noo being adorable, he is a sensitive chappie with a very funny stubborn streak.

novadandypowder · 21/11/2007 21:42

oh, and forgot to say bugger about the tax issue GG, it's not like you need another thing to worry about. Hope it's not taking up too much of your time sorting it out.

Anyone else about our personal details being lost by the government? Glad my child benefit goes into it's own account and not our main joint one.

Just a quick survey, did everyone invest their CTF vouchers? I put noo and minimans in a saving account which I don't add to as I don't like the thought of not being able to access any extra money that's added. So far noo has made about £10 in interest - lol!

ChaCha · 21/11/2007 22:01

That would be great Beks

Nova, sounds like a lovely way to spend Christmas, I remember you talking about a house near the sea (am i right?) that would be your holiday home. Is this the same house that you're moving to or is there another house nearer where you are now? Whichever, Congratulations on house move have you any plans for the interior? I am in love with Moroccan box seats at the moment where Arabic letters are carved into the wood and the cushions are gold and deep reds..would love to do some decorating - when these two are ready to leave home maybe
If we find a really good school for the kids abroad Nova and one that i can teach in then they will go to school otherwise they will be home schooled here or there - at least for a few years.

Am finding myself becoming quite lazy with regard to toilet training. He keeps telling me he needs the toilet but is only informing me that he's done it. Is anyone else's toddler apt to eating you out of house and home somedays and not touching a morsel the next?

What's the funniest thing that your kids did this week btw? There has to be a few here but watching DS1 get some polish from the cupboard (must have thought it was air freshner) and pretend to spray it in the air, then smell the air and exclaim 'oooooohhhh, mmmmmmm....yeahhhhhhh' LOL. Hope he wasn't copying me!!! and to find DSs today laughing and chuckling with each other because they'd emptied every last wipe from the packet and were doing all sorts with them and to each other....was lovely. What is not lovely however, is that afternoon naps have been dropped again today - BOTH!!!

Right think i've rambled on enough, boys are asleep and DH has company and i should close my eyes now. Love x

GreedyGecko · 21/11/2007 22:16

Have done all 'C' shopping. Did it all in about 20mins one night last week. Have also treated myself to an lcd tv to put in the back room, so I can get my dance mat back out. Have put on 1/2 stone since wispas came back out!

CTF - S has actually lost money on his. It is now worth £246. I don't put money into it becausr of the hassle so we have a seperate savings account for him. They also have premium bonds each.

I tend to let S go without nappy most of the time. He's really good at telling me when he needs to go (both). If it wasn't for his problem though I'd just be letting him take his own time.

BrownieBells · 21/11/2007 22:43

Hello!
Nova - "C" Sounds divine, how lovely (and romantic!) Have started some of my shopping, as have relatives visitng at the weekend for Ts birthday, who I won't see again till next year, so need to sort their presents now!

GG- at TC situation, how awful.

Am now starting to get worried by this CB blunder - might have to get DH to check bank account to ensure nothing is amiss....

Think Ts CTF has increased by a few pounds, but as work in Financial Services, did do a bit of searching to ensure put it in the right place.....have also invested some money for T (inheritance from Grandfathers estate, from Canada) into one of the bonds my work sell, have one myself, and it is doing quite nicely.

AM trying to sort things out for Ts birthday at the weekend, think I seem to have invited nearly 50 people to our open house on Saturday!!! oops so if any of you are in the vacinity of Stratford - feel free to drop in!

Chacha - T was quite good at letting me know when he'd done a poo (not before!) but now doesn't seem to want to let me know, and then denies it vehemently when you ask him if he's done one! little monkey. Have decided to wait a bit longer for the potty training, he'll let me know when he's ready, is my theory......

Any word from Rodeo yet?

Diege - you okay hon? Went to that Big Fun place in Warrington last weekend - what a nightmare! Lots of screaming kids - not mine I hasten to add!

T is just soo cute! We had a power cut on Monday here, and he woke up that morning and we had to try and explain that he couldn't put the lights or TV on, as they weren't working.....so each morning now he says "not working?" to which we say, they are today!!!! he is just soo loveable! And growing up soo fast!! At this rate, I might be ttc with you (but not literally!) next year Diege!

Right, off to read my latest edition of Look!

Brownie

Diege · 23/11/2007 10:41

Hello!!! Oooh Brownie, so that's Spring time ttc then!! Go on, you know you want to! Yes, have been watching I'm a Celebrity - am I alone girls?
Good to hear everyone's news - have been skimming posts but never finding the chance to post this last week! Building up to busiest time at work, and I'm away next week in Cardiff too, so will be popping in and out! GG: grrr for you and the tax credits - no wonder you're annoyed. Big hug for you and hoping things will settle down soon. CHACHA - wow, sounds hectic (yes, I'm a bit confused too!) Good for you on doing a second degree and have some long-term plans . TWINKLE: Fridays tend to be my best day for meeting up. I'm free for most in the next month or so, except next week. Does the 14th sound any good? I was thinking of you last week when I walked past Primark - Christmas wouldn;t be the same without our frantic dash around would it! (and sub-way of course!). Shall we do Manchester again?
Right, sorry for ignoring 99% of posts . Off to brave the PO queues!!!

twinkle1 · 23/11/2007 15:07

ChaCha · 23/11/2007 22:18

Oh Twinkle - What fabulous news! Congratulations, you must be thrilled!!!

Diege - Is good to see you post, lol at confusion - wasn't intended - honest

Feeling v.broody...awwwww Twinkle.....am so pleased for you, big hug!!

novadandypowder · 24/11/2007 09:02

I was just thinking about asking the other day as well Twinkle, but I figured you'd tell us if there was any news! Many many congratulations - another baby on the nov 05 thread, hurrah . So how many weeks does that make you? I'll enjoy hearing all about it.

Broody chacha?? I can honestly say that any breeding urge left my body the moment miniman was born. I really really have no desire to have any more babies. I will just live through other peoples pg's, (looking forward to my friends starting their families), in the meantime twinkle will have to indulge me, and be subjected to virtual bump rubbing

Diege · 24/11/2007 09:52

Morning! I had a dream that you had a baby girl TWINKLE and called her 'Tippi' . Just wanted to share that! . Agree, NOVA, we can all delight in virtual bump rubbing . I am excited about starting ttc no.4 early summer - seems a long way away! - but really want to get a good academic year under my belt before making any anouncements! (best laid plans and all that...). HBope everyone has a good weekend! I've woken up with a killer sore throat/sinus pain, so am trying to take it easy between ballet class ferrying and the usual chaos!

twinkle1 · 24/11/2007 10:22

BrownieBells · 24/11/2007 20:58

ChaCha · 24/11/2007 22:12

Nova - I'd like one or two more TBH, just don't know if my body will take another CS. The surgeon seemed to think it would be okay when DS2 was delivered, time will tell i guess. Are you in your new home yet? I still haven't worked out where you are going and if it's away from where you were.

Diege - Hello!! Has been a while since i saw you post. All good it seems, how are DDs?

BB - That's what we got DS for his b'day and is loving it. We celebrated it yesterday as only weekend Grandparents could come. We bought an inexpensive one and had a party with grandparents, I will do another in the week with my mum/toddler group so has been nice. The hob lights up and makes noises and much to DH's amusement DS is forever making me cups of tea, washing hands at mini sink and putting various bits in the oven - is lovely to watch. DS2 has been standing at it too only to pull the whole think down on himself much to DS1's dismay. He hee! Kids.

Having a quiet Saturday with DS2, hope you are all enjoying yours. Where is Rodeo? Rodeooooooo.

Twinkle - Congrats once again. When are you telling your lo's?
