lol margo....

Dec babies are hard work. DD2 is a dream in some ways and a pain in others.

Out of interest how much milk do your DCs have? DD2 is having 4-5 breastfeeds a day. I've tried a cup of formula but she only managed about 1 oz and I'm not sure how much went in as she would take a mouthful and spit half out

I'd like a break tbh but not sure how when she wont take a good drink from a cup.

magnolia1 · 19/07/2007 12:33

Ds1 is having about 5/6 in the day but at least 3 in the night too
And he will happily take a bottle of formula if I go out (gave up expressing ages ago ) but when I get home he will still have a big feed from me and wake in the night for more

babypowder · 19/07/2007 13:50

DD2 is the same - still feeding at least 4 -5 times during the day, and then 1 in the evening and 1 during the night. Mind you, I'm probably not giving her enough solids - might try to bump that up today.

Olihan · 19/07/2007 18:12

DS2 is also still having 4-6 bf a day and at least 3 at night.

Anyone else's boobs still leaking? There's no way I can go without breastpads yet, I thought it should have stopped by now?

About to start bedtime................wish me luck. Anything less than 2.5 ours and we'll be doing well.

magnolia1 · 19/07/2007 18:14

I still need breast pads. Such a pain!!
I have had the joy of 8 children today!!!!!
The twins had a friend round each and so did dd1 so 3 extra on top of my 5. Bloody chaos

Olihan · 19/07/2007 22:34

You could open your own summer school with that many, Mag! Ever thought of becoming a teacher? At least 3 of them went home, eh? (Please tell me they did go home and you're not having a sleepover..............)

Much better bedtime tonight, feed, cuddle and sleep - in under 10 mins. Fairly miraculous stuff for the last week. 2 wakings so far though, I think he could end up in bed with me again later, at least that way the wakings just blur together .

Oh, very exciting news here though, had a positive pg test......................

picture on a text from my sister . First month of trying and they got lucky. She's due 22nd March. So exciting, now I just have to decide whether to tell her about MN or not. To share or not to share, that is the question, not sure I want to but the Due in March thread will be good for her so she doesn't keep asking me questions!! It's lovely that her children will be close in age to mine though. She could have her second as I have my fourth .

Just kidding, I'm just winding dh up as I suspect he lurks on here while he's away .

magnolia1 · 19/07/2007 22:38

Yes they all went home

I thought for a minute you were pg again
Huge congrats to your sister xxx

Ds1 went down great but been up since

I am happy though I won a front opening bath seat on Ebay. Ds1 has such chunky thighs the normal ones are not big enough

weirdbird · 19/07/2007 23:18

hello all,

Had DD1 sports day today, my worry was in vain there was no mums race

I am still leaking, but only when I start to feed, the other side starts to leak, which is a bit of a pain as I just cant be faffed with pads anymore tra la la, so yes if your ever in Staines and see a women with a wet patch on her top, its probably me

oh dear, that sounds so much worse when I write it down...

DH tried to give Hannah formula for the first time this weekend when I was ill and she just spat it back out He persevered for a while, and she kept taking mouthfulls but just kept spitting it back out, and eventually went to sleep without a feed!

Now do you think this means a) last feed at night isn't really needed b) she just doesnt like formula c) I have the wrong formula ?

DD1 was dairy intolerant and we had special formula when I stopped feeding and she had that instead of milk till she was 2 and half, so never had to pick a make. Are they very different?

She is used to bottles as I express quite often so MiL can have her for a few hours so I can do something with DD1 and to keep her used to using a bottle so I know its not that.

Any ideas>?

Congratulations to your sister Oli!

I am in the same situation with my SiL, she is due in Feb, do I tell her about MN or not, won't ever be able to moan about MiL on here if I do!!

Oli - we should start a new thread - Due to be Aunties in 2008.

Congrats!

spina · 19/07/2007 23:43

Hello. I disappeared again!

sorry i havn't had a chance to read many posts yet. building site still distracting me. went back to work on monday. wish i could have waited a bit longer as i've gotton myself into a flap about expressing/ammount of milk to send to daycare/can he survive on banana yoghurt for ever?

i'm still wearing my breast pads too.
spinababy is sitting up.has no teeth.is more scrummy everyday and (whisper it) he slept through last night! shame dh has decided to night train ds1 and he's waking up with wet beds now. i last slept through myself in october.

so why oh why am i MNing and not sleeping?

accessorizewithbabysick · 20/07/2007 09:34

hello again spina, how many days are you working? I'm not even going to attempt to express, I cannot be bovvered. Breast pump's going mouldy in a cupboard. I think ds2 is dropping feeds so quickly he wants to self wean, I was in tears about it this morning. Was hopeless when he fed 10 times a day and now it's going down (5 yesterday) I'm upset! I will be heartbroken day of last feed (if this is last baby).

WB, I did find formulas are different, switched from sma to aptamil as he was getting very windy on sma. Could try mixing ebm with formula and then change the ratio bit by bit? But is it the formula or having it from a cup/bottle that she dislikes?
Oli, Mag, hope you both had better nights, at least they started well Good news about your sister, I wish one of mine would get pg!

FoeGlassSlipper · 20/07/2007 09:49

wb, my dd is doing the same. drinks water from a cup no problem but milk from a cup gets lolled about the mouth and spat out...

babypowder · 20/07/2007 10:40

Poor old DD2 has nappy rash for the first time, and it's nasty It's really upsetting her. I can't even feed her back to happiness. Maybe she's teething?

FoeGlassSlipper · 20/07/2007 10:58

bp - i always used to use metanium on dd1. touch wood - dd2 hasnt had it yet.

Olihan · 20/07/2007 12:09

BP, Poor dd2. Ds2 is really sensitive and gets nappy rash at the drop of a hat (ds1 and dd used to get horrific teething nappies, though - it was a sure fire sign). Metanium worked a treat on ds1 and dd but makes no odds at all on ds2. Bepanthen is great for him though. Although with your lentil weavery tendencies I bet you have a secret super concoction, don't you?

babypowder · 20/07/2007 13:32

Oli I had been wondering if calendula cream might help. But I do have metanium in the cupboard, so I think that that will come out as a first defence, and then follow it up with calendula. I've given her some chamomile powders to calm her down, so hopefully she'll feel better soon.

If not, I'm dosing her up with Medised

HungarianHorntailsBumcheek · 20/07/2007 14:44

Has anyone else's lo had diarrhoea 3 times or am i just a really bad mum? It hasn't been close together, and this time she is really snotty too...she isn't being sick as well so i don't think it would be caused by bad hygiene would it???

babypowder · 20/07/2007 16:32

It doesn't sound like poor hygiene

Is she eating/drinking as normal? Does she seem ill, or does she 'just' have a tummy bug? If she isn't poorly, then I would just go with it, myself. Of course, if she does have persistent tummy problems and seems dehydrated then I would phone the doc jsut to be on the safe side.

Kids, eh? Nothing but worries

HungarianHorntailsBumcheek · 20/07/2007 19:59

She is just really snotty - she sneezes and it streams down her face, which is disgusting, but she cries when i then wipe it off...no, sounds fairly well actually, if she can tantrum about a bit of tissue!

She hasn't had it since either...maybe we've given her too much veggies or something! Dh is really gettinginto the homemade babyfood thing ATM but it seems to be mainly vegetables! Have been doing fish and potato to freeze into cubes today though.

FoeGlassSlipper · 20/07/2007 20:11

Could be a cold/teething. The mucous comes out in their poo!

HungarianHorntailsBumcheek · 20/07/2007 20:19

Eeeeeuuuurrrrrgggghhhhh!

Btw PMSL...dh was sick on himself earlier

He sneezed about 10 times in a row and it made him retch. It was groooossss!

babypowder · 21/07/2007 22:29

Where is everyone? I do hope none has been affected by the flooding

accessorizewithbabysick · 21/07/2007 22:33

Hey, bp, just off to bed No flooding here, thank goodness after the last time (very badly affected in this neck of the woods).
Want to get a chapter of Harry Potter no.6 in before I collapse, I'm trying to get through it so I can read no.7 !

babypowder · 21/07/2007 22:49

Sleep well, AQ! I'm waiting for DSD to finish no7 so that I can read it

Gloria42 · 21/07/2007 23:33

Yuck - just went in to check on DS (who I thought was sleeping soundly) to find he'd been sick all over his bed. And didn't I just change his sheet and sleeping bag earlier??

Poor soul is now in dirty (but at least not sick-soaked) bedding until washing machine finishes. Am now total paranoid parent - is he breathing?? Is that his normal breathing??? I guess this is it forever now!!
