Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I sit on here everyday and I read everyone's messages and usually have a comment to make in reply to something and by the time I get this far...I forget what it is I was going to say or who I'm saying it to. And I'm not even getting any action!!!! Sleep too precious. Moved ds2 out to share with big bro (consequence of moving back onto building site-it just happened to work best space-wise rather than among piles of stuff in our room!)I thought having a room to ourselves would help my mojo along(ds2 is soooooo sensitive to noise that I didn't dare risk anything "noisy" before)

It's been two weeks and I'm still not interested. BUT then if I a DH at weekends ya never know!!!!!! I think living on a building site is stressing me out too much.

Perhaps I need to Just Do It too!

GlassSlipper · 19/06/2007 15:30

My mojo almost came back at weekend....

Spina, BLW is Baby Led Weaning - basically not offering pureed food, just stuff like chip-sized bits of steamed veg, bits of crust, whatever's on your plate. There's loads of threads on this in the Food topic.

Obviously, I'm pushing for BLW because I'm too darned lazy to go through the puree palaver again. I can't see that there's anything fundamentally wrong with either weaning method, tbh, just in case I sounded a little evangelical back there!

magnolia1 · 19/06/2007 16:01

I started off with puree's and still have pots in the freezer but at the moment I am just offering ds1 bits of mine as and when I remember
He loves banana though, great for out and about just give him chunk after chunk

He had omlette last night, I was going to avoid egg until 9 months but he was screaming at my plate

accessorizewithbabysick · 19/06/2007 16:02

I'm doing a mixture of standard purees & blw, seems to work fine for us. Partly cos I was too lazy to look that much into blw, when I have a spare minute I'll look at it again. I often give him a bowl of puree, and then some baby courgettes or roasted carrot to chew on whilst I eat my meal!
Spina, I'm exactly the same! I have to scroll back up to re-read in the middle of typing a message as I can't remember who's ill etc! How is going with your boys sharing a bedroom? I was wanting to do it with mine (I have the choice, and would like them to share & have my spare room back for a playroom etc) but dp opposed to the idea whilst ds2's still so young. How does it work getting them to bed etc?

I'm quite relieved (is that the right word) that actually ds2 seems just the same as many other babies on here, in RL friends' babies feed 4 times a day at this age!

GlassSlipper · 19/06/2007 16:05

I give DD1 purees and 'real' food . For example this morning she had pureed apple&pear and then two pieces of toast for breaksfast and for lunch she had a jar of something and then a baby biscuit, and for tea she is having pureed veg with an organix carrot stick thingy.

accessorizewithbabysick · 19/06/2007 16:11

I kinda feel safe with pureeing, that's a bit crap I know, but I know how to do it & too tired for too many new tricks at present! Plus he's loving it, getting lots of new tastes plus textures of bits of veg etc.

Anyone following the allergens route, when can I introduce wheat & dairy? Not serious problems in my family, but trying to be fairly wary. He's 6.5 months now. I am using porridge, then just occurred to me about gluten, bit late now I suppose.

GlassSlipper · 19/06/2007 16:21

me too me too aq. just dont say it too loudly

accessorizewithbabysick · 19/06/2007 16:23

we're safe hidden away in postnatal aren't we?

jabberwocky · 19/06/2007 19:05

We're doing purees too, in spite of my initial enthusiasm about blw I did give him a piece of sweet potato - chip shaped - the other day but he really didn't eat any of it. He loves to eat off the spoon tho, so I'm thinking of trying it again in a month or so.

I'm doing the allergy routine too, AQ. Too scared not to with ds2's eczema. I'm following this guideline

Nights have been bad again around here I'm going to have dh give him a bottle and I'm sleeping in the guest room tonight.

jabberwocky · 19/06/2007 19:07

OK that link doesn't get you all the way there. Go to BLW and allergies, then click on sequence of foods for allergicky types.

accessorizewithbabysick · 19/06/2007 21:01

Good lord, jabber, quite severe isn't it? I think I might take some advice on my 2 as only ds1 had a little eczema when little (haven't seen any for ages) and was bf until 9 weeks only. DS2 gets a bit rashy, but nothing major. Hmmmmm, need to read further about which infants this applies to. Have given him oats already without thinking, no issues there tho. Thanks for link!

jabberwocky · 19/06/2007 21:30

I guess it is, a bit

accessorizewithbabysick · 19/06/2007 21:35

I don't think I even know what millet is!

GlassSlipper · 19/06/2007 21:48

I dont know what millet is either.

DD had beef stew for tea (last nights all blended) and then a banana which she really anjoyed. The mess was disgusting

weirdbird · 19/06/2007 22:01

Would like to do more BLW but with her reflux she throws up if she puts anything to far back in her throat and although she does have to learn, her up-chuck reflex is so strong that its just not been worth it so far

OP posts:
GlassSlipper · 19/06/2007 22:04

wb - just take it slowly. I'm a great believer that the kiddies just work things out in their own time. If that means blw or purees or even jars, then so be it.

My DD tried to eat a banana with its skin on today that I'd left on the table.

weirdbird · 19/06/2007 22:09

GS - Hannah managed to get a Kiwi that was on the table and managed to mangle a lot of it up and not sure that she didnt manage to eat some! Seemed very pleased with herself!

Caught her chewing on the kitchen table today, must have been tasty!!

Twas a good day today, I wasnt thrown up on once!

Yesterday, we sat down to eat dinner and I hadnt started mine, was feeding Hannah and getting drinks and you know generally sorting everyone else out, when Hannah brings up all her dinner plus previous feed all over the highchair tray and then my DD1 sneezes all over my untouched dinner, felt like crying!

GlassSlipper · 19/06/2007 22:15

Sorry if everyone is finding this banter dull. I really need it today.

Yesterday was very difficult for me. I was in floods of tears over DH acccounts of all things. Then had paranoia about PND. DH came in all rational and said it is probably time of the month but as periods haven't returned it isn't obvious. Apparantly I did the same about 6 weeks ago. It was the tax return then I'm not to worry. He'll speak to the accountant.....

Anyway, DD only work once last night and her virus seems to be nearly gone. Fingers crossed for one wake tonight....

babypowder · 19/06/2007 22:18

My LO has to be forcibly restrained from eating the newspaper. I have tried to explain that however liberal we are, she is not going to be weaned on the Guardian.

She's 6 months tomorrow. I'm probably going to put off the start of weaning for another week or two (fits better into our mad social calendar ) Bad, lazy mum!

accessorizewithbabysick · 19/06/2007 22:19

Ohhh, gs Sometimes it's what you need, to just chat about nothing, men always try to solve things damn them! Why are you paranoid about pnd?

WB, a day without being chucked upon is indeed a good day! Why is it the end they decide to projectile over everything? Sometimes I get to 6pm and then he turns into the exorcist, dp arrives home to disgusting fiancee and grotty ds!

babypowder · 19/06/2007 22:20

We're all with you Glassy!

accessorizewithbabysick · 19/06/2007 22:20

Week's not going to make a speck of difference bp! I give her 1-3 meals a day to fit in with my social calendar and it sure ain't anything like yours

accessorizewithbabysick · 19/06/2007 22:21

Ummm, that should read give 'him' 1-3 meals. Not that I've ever wanted a girl

jabberwocky · 19/06/2007 23:08

Don't worry AQ, I didn't know what it was either! BUt it's just a cereal grain, like rice. I'm still not sure if ds2's flare-up was from the soy in the commercial rice or the rice itself, so went to millet for now.

Re: PND, keep talking Glassy, we'll always be here for you
