March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

Diva nothing wrong with moaning.

(Ikwym though, it's like me if I ever hear or type the word "l*tch" again I think I will scream!)

foxcub · 21/06/2007 14:06

Hiya - mad day as per. usual atm...

Mossy - it was the sainsbury's tardis one - with a VERY attractive DT peeping out of the the Tardis

BTW I have just discovered Nescafe Decaf Cappucino - comes in packet of 10 sachets complete with choccy powder (shhh, don't tell Shrinky) and is all frothy - its luvverly!!

Sponge when are you moving then?

..right off to check out Diva's thread..

kittywits · 21/06/2007 14:19

Cap'n Jack is more dishier. Dp told me that John Barrowman was gay, I can't believe it and can't believe it wasn't as obvious to me as it so obviously is to everyone else, or something like that

shanks313 · 21/06/2007 15:06

Hi

Hope everyones okay

Deannas doing fine...I think shes going through some teething as she is foreer sucking on something.
She had to go to the docs last week with a temp and she brought up most of her bottle but it must have been a 24 hour thing as se was better the next day.
I have had a bad day and really feel like crying.
I went to mum and baby group this morning and was practically ignored. We have been going 3 weeks now and nobody yet knows Deannas name or my name.We were just sat there while they talked around us.Deanna was giggling and not one person gave her attention.o I have decided to not go back until hopefully those people have moved on and theres new ones with babies the samr age as Deanna.
Then I was supposed to meet my friend for lunch and she never turned up,didnt even let me know so cheered me up even more and for some reason I ant get hold of DH on his phone grrrr.

Shrinkinglily · 21/06/2007 16:03

Shanks sorry you are having a stinker day I hope your friend has a good excuse for letting you down like that.

Hasan is unwell, it is a sorry sight. Snotty with a temperature, totally miserable, crying, sleeping loads, not feeding...my boobs are full and uncomfortable. Threw up after the calpol but I think a bit went in, he's sleeping now- poor mite.

Foxy... it's the slippery wippery slope.
I had a raspberry and white chocolate scone this morning....slippery wippery.....

Mossy · 21/06/2007 16:05

Foxy check out the Doctor Who thread I have posted the last ten minutes of Utopia on it, it gives me goosebumps - I may treat myself to another watch of it in a min!

Kitty I'd go with JB.... but I'd be thinking of DT

Shanks I'm really sorry to hear about your bad experience at your Mums and Babies group some people are strange aren't they? Why go to a group like that if you're not going to welcome another Mum? Is there another group you could go to? Hope you have a better day tomorrow.

Got Bertie weighed and he has put on ... a whopping 8oz! Last week he only put on two so I was getting so paranoid... and whilst he was at my friend's house, he had a kip for half an hour!

Mossy · 21/06/2007 16:05

Xposts Shrinky poor little Hasan, I hope he feels better soon.

Shrinkinglily · 21/06/2007 16:13

Thanks Mossy and brilliant to hear that Bertie is putting on loads of weight now...brilliant.

Shrinkinglily · 21/06/2007 16:14

Ooh and must check out the dr who thread...it is so fantastic, can't WAIT for saturday!

divastrop · 21/06/2007 16:31

shanks-doesnt sound like much fun.i have found baby groups here to be quite friendly, but as for mather +toddler groups....i have been to a couple in the past, and they were like that, all the groups huddled together and me sat on my own.

is there something like baby massage or baby talk you could go to?i found it easier in the early weeks to go somewhere witha structured activity,as there was less pressure to talk to people, and the babies were all around the same age.

foxcub · 21/06/2007 17:06

feel knackered!!1

Must find that Dr Who thread to give me some energy

Shanks what a crap day - you poor thing

foxcub · 21/06/2007 17:16

Hopefully I have some new pics of Monti on my profile...

kittywits · 21/06/2007 17:54

Foxy, wow hasn't Monti changed!! He looks so cute

Shanks, you have to sift through alot of m&b groups before you find kindred spirits. I've been to ones where I've been ignored. I never went back. Now I'm more than happy to be ignored, gives me a bit of peace and quiet. Are there other groups you could try out?

Shrinky, poor Hassan

mossy, that's great news, that must make you feel so much better about things. looks like you're coming out of the woods eh?

I loved Dr Who, it's such a brilliant series. i don't want it to end. I'll check out the dr Who thread now.

Mossy · 21/06/2007 18:56

Foxy Monti is adorable, I can't believe how he's grown up! He looks like a proper little man!

Shanks I second Diva's idea about Tiny Talk or baby massage, there isn't the same pressure to talk to the other mums but you end up doing it anyway.

Kitty I do feel like I am coming out of the woods a bit. I mean Bertie still wakes four or five times in the night, and takes forever to settle, but he is getting better in the day... less Gollum and more Bertie!

Such a good weekend coming up ... Friday night a night out, and Saturday... Doctor Who!!!!!

kittywits · 21/06/2007 19:45

Blimey, there's a March 2008 thread, where is the time going?

Shrinkinglily · 21/06/2007 20:03

Foxy...he is very very handsome!

spongecake · 21/06/2007 20:12

hi there- ds really screamed this afternoon/ evening. he usually just whines quietly until he gets what he wants, so am convinced he is ill, poor love he is ok in himself though apart from scary cough.

shanks, that sounds horrid at m & b. hopefuly there are other ones?

rosy, poor hassan, hope he sleeps it away tonight.

diva, the threads are here and here

foxcub · 21/06/2007 20:19

Sponge - hope your LO is OK

spongecake · 21/06/2007 20:30

hi foxy, yes, he is asleep now. he realy worried me as he hasn't done that hysterical screaming for weeks. he was easy to comfort though so think he is ok.

more advice pls! do you think its best to go straight to a cot bed or cot first then cot bed? i looked at them today (PRICE!) but would like advice from experienced mums..

also, my baby has a pea sized hard lump in the fat about a cm down in the middle of his thigh. i think its from his jabs last week. has anyone had this before? what can i do? am hoping its not linked to his sudden crying

Shrinkinglily · 21/06/2007 20:32

Sponge that's awful, I didn't realise just how bad it was for you! How unfair!

Shrinkinglily · 21/06/2007 20:38

Sponge, if you intend to get a cotbed anyway I think baby can go straight to cotbed. Not sure about the jabs thing.

spongecake · 21/06/2007 20:48

rosy, thanks for that-

yes, it was horrendous. my dp was handed the baby and ushered away at one point- he was convinced he was going to be alone with a baby. not sure if another one is a good idea at that hospital. they might have another go!!!

a doula would be nice, wish i had had one now for my first baby. So much happened that isn;t on that thread along the same lines- its a funny feeling to know it could have all been over if a certain consultant hadn;t been on his way home and asked by the mw to check the procedure suggested. laying there with needles in your back, drugged to the eyeballs, watching your babies heartbeat on the monitor and being told you will die if you do what has just been suggested by the other doctor is not a good thing. then seeing your baby get slashed at during the op... not actually sure how many lives i have left

anyway, rant rant, sorry don;t want to spoil a friendly easy going thread... am sure i have a bit of chocolate left

Piffle · 21/06/2007 20:49

Spongey that was you? OMG I nearly cried reading that thread. No advice but am so devastated on your behalf with your treatment
DD got a ahrd lump from her jabs as well lasted a week or 3 maybe gradually went down, it is not uncommon and not painful (although I'm not convinced tbh)

shanks unreal to think anyone could not notice Deanna - she is bloody gorgeous - all jealous I bet
Foxy Monti looks very grown up, must kick my own ass and get some more of Finn put up asap.

Mossy you are souding a lot chirpier ducky and Bertie sounds like he is doing greatm piling on some weight and sleeping? All in one day? Giant leaps ahead missus

Diva are you doing ok?

Finn had his morning marathon nap interrupted today as I thought I had better get him weighed - it has been 7 wks since he was last done [blsuh] 3rd child syndrome
He is now between 50th and 75th dropped a wee bit but he has also dropped a feed through sleeping more at night so no shocks there.
However he has been very grumpy for the rest of the day and his feeding has been CRAPOLA

It's almost as if he does not like the taste IYKWIM, sucks like mad then swallows and pulls away - grins then repeats until get totally hacked off milk spraying everywhere as once the letdown occurs he truly ditches the whole idea
I have boobs like footballs and am not thrilled. might post on feeding if tomorrow is the same.
Well must go and file some washing... grrrr

Callieco · 21/06/2007 21:26

Thanks to all for your kind words yesterday. I'm feeling much better today after going to bed at a more sensible time last night. You guys are the best .

Spongecake, I can't believe how bad your birth experience was. Your baby getting hurt was horrendous enough in itself but the treatment from the mwives and other medical staff, doubly so given what had happened, is absolutely appalling. I feel really angry on your behalf. I came across one or two not too sympathetic mws but nothing like what happened to you.

Shanks, so sorry the other mums were unfriendly. That's really horrible. I hope you find a more sympathetic group or activity to go to. I tried to go to a mother and baby group the other day to find it hasn't been running since Christmas cos the heating broke down.

Mossy, way to go with Bertie. Before you know it, your knees too will be giving way under the weight...

Foxy, Monti is gorgeous. He does look so grown up!

Well, DP, DS and I are off on a mini-break from tomorrow till Tuesday, so it may be wet but at least we will be somewhere else . Am hoping DS sleeps well tonight, and hopefully past 5.30 - 7, please. Must go and pack now otherwise we won't leave until the evening! Have a nice weekend everybody, until next week .

foxcub · 21/06/2007 21:54

Sponge - I didn't realise you had such a traumatic birth
