March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

Oh Diva, your poor DD

Shrinkinglily · 18/06/2007 20:29

Diva, hope Elsie is better soon, poor thing.

Fox brilliant result today!

mossy, brilliant that you are getting back to your self now!

ChocolatePenny hiya have posted on your thread.

Kitty was it these jabs that did the damage before? I think I presumed it was the mmr you avoid...must admit to being anxious about that one because of the excema and allergies my guys have. So far Hasan seems ok....

It is my 5 year wedding anniversary today. Dh and I hardly remembered. I only remembered when we pulled into the centre where we were married to drop me off and a wedding was coming out.
We are the most unromantic couple of indifferent so and sos that I know

foxcub · 18/06/2007 20:34

Shrinky - congratulations of 5 years of wedded bliss

Shrinkinglily · 18/06/2007 20:43

Thanks Fox, the mood I'm in I reckon yes it is quite an accomplishment...I'd trade him in for a box of thorntons right now...
(slopes off to sniff the tub of cocoa powder....)

muppethasakitten · 18/06/2007 20:46

why does Samuel always throw up when i give him calpol or nurofen?

I am going to be in for one hell of a night tonight if this afternoon is anything to go by...

congrats shrinky

Shrinkinglily · 18/06/2007 20:52

Well I gave Hasan calpol for the first time today because he seems to have sore gums and he shuddered and spat it out!

Muppet I hope Samuel settles okay.

divastrop · 18/06/2007 21:10

congrats on 5 years rosy

kitty-do you have reasons for not getting the jabs?i'm not letting dd2 have the mmr.i didnt really want ds2 to have it but was bullied into it,and he was constantly ill for 6 months afterwards.they have all had the baby ones, but i dont know very much about this new one thats around now.

Elsie has had calpol a few times, she takes it off the spoon no bother.the chemist was trying to give me a syringe to give her her ab's with, but i said 'cant i just have a spoon?'.

muppet-could he be allergic,maybe?

foxcub · 18/06/2007 21:30

we do the single jabs. expensive but, hey, that's what credit cards are for

divastrop · 18/06/2007 22:18

only people who do ironing are allowed credit cards

eidsvold · 18/06/2007 22:48

i'm with you diva - no hassles with watching dds have jabs after dd1 having her two open heart surgeries and being in ICU after being born - canula in the head here too.

foxy she is to do two days a week for about three weeks - should have been longer but college did not find her a family so she could start when she should. She also did two full weeks. I am a little apprehensive about it as I figure people will employ her partly on my say so and I feel it is such a responsibility - iyswim. SHe has a load of competencies that she has to fulfill and I have to sign off - if she doesn't do them in the time she is /has been here then there is room for her to do longer.

I think part of her behaviour last week was the nanny.

Shrinkinglily · 19/06/2007 08:19

I had to watch ds2 get a cystogram, where they put a tube in penis and fill bladder with fluid to watch it come out and check for kidney reflux...it's not heart surgery but it does put a new perspective on the jabs.

Foxy, my hv and dr advised me against the singles saying they hadn't been well tested. I don't know what to believe about it all, my sisters dd2 has aspergers too, and threads about mmr just make me even more confused!
But with trips to Pakistan, they probably need to have all the jabs. It's a big worry.

Mossy · 19/06/2007 08:59

Rosy congratulations on five years!! You sound like us, we both forgot our anniversary last year, too. Actually I remembered at the last minute and got a card, made dh feel really guilty until I owned up that I'd forgotten too!

Diva first week in August would be lovely! It will be great to meet you and the little Elsie.

When you all put it like that about your dc's various operations etc I suppose I am making a bit of a mountain out of a molehill about jabs. Will try to be more sanguine today.

Oh bugger better go kerfuffling from the front room...

Mossy · 19/06/2007 09:26

Right the kerfuffling has stopped... for how long I don't know!

I have booked myself a driving lesson for Monday at ten... I need to get back on the road again, it's been three months now near enough since I had my last lesson... I am nervous though!

Shrinkinglily · 19/06/2007 09:39

Mossy, well done for getting back in the saddle. I was always nervous about lessons, and nervous about driving. Still am nervous about big roads with loads of lanes, hate changing lanes!
You are allowed to feel nervous about Berties jabs. Most people I know have a little cry along with their babies

Booboobedoo · 19/06/2007 11:05

Hello Everybody Peeps.

Sorry I haven't been around much. We've got building work starting soon, and we're trying to get everything sorted.

Lily: it's our third wedding anniversary today! My Mum's babysitting (for the first time) and we're going out for dinner locally. (btw I went for the cuff-link box in the end: thanks to everyone who came up with ideas).

That's fantastic abut your boss foxy. I think you've handled the situation very well. We were in your neck of the woods on Sunday. It took an hour and three quarters to drive! Only takes twenty-five minutes if there's no traffic. Bloody Wandsworth.

Mossy: lovely to hear you sounding more upbeat. Jonny is still just in 0-3 month stuff, but he's quite long and slim so I think he'll be moving up soon.

I really am having the jabs done on Wednesday (honest).

Hope everyone's well amd enjoying the sunshine.

divastrop · 19/06/2007 12:14

mossy-there is a difference though, taking a healthy ,happy baby to have a needle can be upsetting(i have to admit it never bothered me as needles generally have never bothered me,as i had loads of blood tests for various things when i was 3 and i never cried cos i knew my mum would buy me some plasticine if i didnt),its totally different when the baby is very ill, under sedation etc so doesnt really feel it iyswim.

fox-i had a mad,mad dream last night that you were having a mumsnet picnic in your huge garden, there were about 30 people there, all around a big tudor-style banqueting table.you were very slim and pretty with red curly hair()and mossy and i were saying to you 'theres no way you're a size 14'.i was trying to guess who everybody was(there were loads of different mn'ers there).
there was all sorts of other weird stuff in it,like i went to tesco and they'd stopped selling pampers nappies for some ethical reason, and things about nearly missing trains.mad.

Elsie is still happy and smiley, but still not feedind very well.she keeps rubbing her ear.

dd2 walked halfway accross the living room this morning.now the fun begins.

rosy-i find it really hard to get impartial advice on jabs.if you look on the net you either get nhs/medical sites saying all jabs are wonderful and safe,or totally anti-jab sites that tell you they are evil and wrong.its hard to know what to do for the best.

Piffle · 19/06/2007 13:46

No MMR happens in our house - ds1 had anaphylactic shock and they never found out why. DD has had measles at 13mths but she is on target to have single rubella vacc when she is older.

Well bugaboo arrived today have to say it is far easier to fold/unfold and put together than I thought. I really love it and ahve spent all morning lovingly cleaning bits of it
Finn having one of his sleeping lots days today - to make up for the wakeful one yesterday

He is lovely I wonder how I don't nibble him to bits sometimes, he may well erode with all the kisses though.

Well washing calls [groan]

kittywits · 19/06/2007 13:55

oh dear Diva !!!!

Mossy, well done on the driving lessons. it will be much easier for you when you pass your test

excellent news on the work front Foxy.

Right Ronnie's crying again, oh yes it was my turn on tv today

Hello everyone else

foxcub · 19/06/2007 17:34

I wanted to give some intelligent responses to everyone's posts but can't 'cos I'm ROFL too much after reading about Diva's dream!

Only in my dreams do I have a huge garden and tudor mansion Diva!!! Its true I am very slim and pretty though (Shut up, Dolly and Sazzy!!!)

foxcub · 19/06/2007 17:37

I think the general view on jabs is that they are fine for healthy children with good immune systems but if they have eczma/asthma they are in a group who have a tiny risk of having side effects. Plus boys are much more at risk than girls of having a reaction.

When we were kids, my sister wasn't allowed any jabs as she was in this group, but Gov policy now has changed to blanket immunisation.

Callieco · 19/06/2007 18:23

Hello

Teething going on big time in this house. DS was crying fairly much non-stop for about an hour or two until about 30 mins ago and I'm feeling quite frazzled. The heavy rain and atmosphere are not helping either, nor are having a period and being awake more or less since 5.30. Whinge, whinge. Am expecting him to wake any moment as can hear snuffling from the pram - oh, and a nice long fart too.

Eids, sounds like a nightmare few days, you have ALL my sympathy.

Way to go Fox, well done on being assertive.

We're going away for a few days for the first time apart from to parents over the weekend - am really hoping DS isn't too bad with his teeth otherwise it won't be much of a break. Oh, there he goes, better go.

Callieco · 19/06/2007 18:24

Just quickly - Piffle, what colour is your bug? Mine's all red .

spongecake · 19/06/2007 18:29

sounds like everyone is having a mixed time- well done foxy with your boss, and for you sazzy, hope something works out.

I had a dream last night that i was having an affair with tony blair, and was terrified people would find out- he kept saying "they've got to find out sometime" and i hid from him behind the sofa!

my baby has been v whiny since his 2nd lot of jabs, not sure if its them or just being whiny. he has a cough and cold too, but they are nearly gone. Its interesting re all the mmr talk- my hv said single jabs don;t work as well..

foxcub · 19/06/2007 19:37

hmm - sorry to get all arsey but all NHS staff have to tow the line re MMR and tell people its all great and that single jabs aren't as good . They have no choice 'cos its the policy of the NHS which is their employer. .. makes me cross

The only reason single jabs are sometimes not as effective as MMR is that some people get one done (measles) then forget to get the others done (rubella and mumps). the actual vaccines used are the same as the ones used by the NHS and they are all licensed by the government for use in the UK.

Ok will fall off soapbox now

kittywits · 19/06/2007 19:50

I'm on tv again in 10 mins, anyone want to see my bum ?
