March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

Morning all, well, another driving lesson this morning... arrgh! And of course it would be chucking it down with rain.

Muppet pmsl at sleeping with the slugs!

Kitty... I found Doctor Who a bit curate's egg. Ooh I feel so disloyal saying that but what was with turning the Doctor into Dobby the House Elf? And I didn't like the Messiah bit either with its cod science of using the archangel network etc. etc. But I did think John Simm was fantastic as was the lovely DT (when he wasn't a CGI cartoon).

Diva I hope everything goes all right with your Nan's funeral and your journey is okay.

Kiwibella am slightly of your Dublin weekend! Hope you enjoyed yourself! Lovely cute photo btw!!

Eids those Wiggles are funny!

Right I am going to have a lovely decaff coffee with one hand and feed yonder kerfufling man with the other!

foxcub · 02/07/2007 08:41

Diva - where abouts do they live? Half my family live in Enfield and I think that used to be posh 50 years ago.

Where I live now is full of bankers and their trophy wives - they're Ok but kind of cloned so everyone looks the same (trendy thrusting young man with aneorexic blonde tanned gymned wife, 4 wheel drive, nanny in tow)

Anyway I hope it goes really well today. God bless your Nan

Kiwi your girls are so pretty

Can I be really un-PC and award baby Kiwi the best looking baby on the thread award? She's beautiful

Even prettier than my baby LOL!!!

Kitty - I got loads done - and with much nagging of DH I got him to do a lot too . Chucked out two bin liners full of clothes to charity, 2 bin liners full of paperwork. I have to have a mega clear out of books too as I've nenevr thrown boooks away but they are taking over.

We have a Polish chappie coming to lay floor tiles in our kitchen and dodgy conservatory today. They're going to paint my kitchen french blue and replace the worktops. We'll add steel door handles to the units and it'll look like a whole new kitchen. Am going to move all furniture rouns downstairs as well

We usually decorate ourselves but I can't see us managing that atm

...sorry am being a bore aren't I?

foxcub · 02/07/2007 08:44

Mossy x threads

LOL at Curates Egg [foxie pretends that she understands what that means]

How will we survive without the Doctor until Christmas???

Have a good driving lesson!

DollyPopsOut · 02/07/2007 09:07

Hello ! Not been posting for a while, but have dipped in and out to try to keep up...

Sorry about your nan, Diva. Hope the funeral is healing for you.

Kiwi, what a beautiful DD!

Fox, am very jealous of house works. We need serious work on our place, but no energy or $$$$ at the moment.

Mossy, good luck with your lesson. Glad too that Bertie has turned corner to lovely smiling baby.

Hope everyone else is well .

Just handed in my letter removing DD1 from nursery, as she's going to a montessori one. I told her room supervisor too as I didn't want her to find out second hand. She burst into tears. So did I. Not a good start to the morning.....

Hope everyone has a good day!

Mossy · 02/07/2007 09:15

Hi Dolly!!

What is montessori?

Foxy, Curate's egg "good in parts". It comes from a famous cartoon from years ago in which a curate is served an egg by a woman, he says, "this egg is bad" and she says, "oh no I assure you parts of it are good".

TransfiguratingLily · 02/07/2007 09:23

yeah what does curates egg mean Mossy?
It was a bit mad wasn't it? My sister doesn't have a tv so I was explaining it to her and she was looking at me sideways.

It almost worked. Can't put my finger on exactly where it lost me, but never mind, it was fabby anyway, my favourite thing on television and I'm going to miss it so much.

Muppet that was really funny. I quite like it when my dh makes a drunken idiot of himself and I have loads of moral high ground and he's in the dog house and eagerly does me loads of favours (oo-er)

Of course at the moment I haven't seen him for ages and he never calls, he's probably having loads of drunken nights and I'm struggling alone with the kids because I refuse to uproot the children and myself to be with him, so can't really complain.

And I'd rather be close to my family than live with my husband poor guy has to drown his sorrows.
See I could hijack Mossys thread too -very easily!

My summer hols have begun though and there's loads to look forward to.

TransfiguratingLily · 02/07/2007 09:25

oh cross posts, Hi Dolly!

kiwibella · 02/07/2007 10:24

thanks for comments about my lil fairy . She is lovely... especially now that she has fallen asleep after crying for the last ten minutes!!

What do Mummies with a school run do with their babies when they are ready for a sleep??? Kate starts getting grizzly about 8:30 and invariably she falls asleep in the push chair or car seat while we are dropping her big sis off. Then, she seems to act like this ten minute nap has been her sleep although I can tell by looking at her that she is tired. Today I tried different ways to get her off for about forty minutes before leaving her. It was awful but I closed the door and came on here (for distraction ).

Enjoy getting back in behind the wheel, Mossy.

Sorry to hear about your sad start to the day Dolly Hope your dd enjoys her new Montessori school. I am keen to look at Montessori for Kate although I have been put off by my closest one after I got talking to someone who had worked there. Absolutely nothing about the type of education more the location and facilities. Where I live is full of loaded banker wankers too (Fox) but sans trophy families!!

Rosy, my inlaws live like you and your husband! It has worked for them for goodness knows how many years.

Piffle · 02/07/2007 11:02

Sorry been a crap correspondent.
My back has gone kaput - a herniated disc apparently, tis agony grim and I am nearly close to breaking point
Sitting to breastfeed is agony, the other night I went hot and cold clammy and passed out with pain.
Plus Finn up every hr last night with snotty nose and dd with a cough = very miserable Piffle.

Also sitting to type impossible so quick hell goodbye I am still alive - sort of...
Mossy sorry to hear about your dh problems, he used to be the only man in your life, now he is not and he doesn't like it so he is undermining you to make you feel bad too.
Hope things improve

kiwi that fiary photo is simply gorgeous!

Get well to all ailing mums and babies.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Mossy · 02/07/2007 11:45

Oh Piffle you poor thing! How long will it take for your back to get better?! Not long I hope! Huge {{{hugs}}} to you!

Kiwi my driving lesson today was not so great... but it's just a blip, I'll be better next week!

muppethasakitten · 02/07/2007 12:12

piff - hugs to you - sounds bloody agony... what can be done????

dolly - both dd and ds1 went to our local montessori and i have sam's name down for when he's 2 - they're really good for boys i reckon.

got loads of mileage out of dh's shame! Ho hum back to the week now though and having to cope alone

Kiwi - kate's perfectly edible!!! Samuel always drops off on the school run for 10 mins and then wakes on returning home thinking that's that then.... i can never get him back to sleep... so have no top tips for you I'm afraid... if you find any then please share!!!

Piffle · 02/07/2007 14:04

again for a 2 minute interlude...
unsure about back, went to osteo saturday, he clicked and it helped a little - inasmuch as now I can notice if I take nurofen...
^ wks at best for major improvement if not good by then MRI and possible surgery if there is a tissue mass but osteo is hopeful that he can sort it by then.

thanks for the kind words. finn seems ok now, mmmm curse the force that makes babies only poorly at night not that I wnat him poorly at all of course but daytime would be easier....

Piffle · 02/07/2007 14:05

6 wks I meant

TransfiguratingLily · 02/07/2007 18:31

Piffle, you poor thing, I hope things ease very soon.

foxcub · 02/07/2007 22:11

Piffle you poor thing!!! That sounds so painful. R U taking codeine or anything for the pain?

Just had a medicinal glass of Rose here as I'm feeling a bit run down (too much excercise and not enough chocolate)

...Well I looked in the toilet pan this evening and saw something very nasty.

A long sand coloured poo which looked half solid (mega TMI alert at this point)...

After several hours of me worrying and asking DCs if they felt OK, DS1 informs me casually that he'd put his ice cream cone down the toilet!!!!

kittywits · 02/07/2007 22:53

That's funny foxy. Well this evening as I was bolting my food as usual. DD3 climbs on the kitchen table, stands on the magazine I'm reading and wees all over it, narrowly missing my food!! Ho hum.

Piffle, that sounds really painful. Will it get better on its own? Is it just a case of resting? Yeah ok I know I'm having a laugh !

TransfiguratingLily · 02/07/2007 23:08

Dh seems to have had a small heart attack, he's fine, he's in hospital in Cork 500 miles away Told me not to drag the kids down there.
I'm just trying to take it in. After I sleep on it, it'll start to sink in. Lucky really, it's a wake up call, he needs to change his lifestyle. Must drag myself off to bed.

morocco · 02/07/2007 23:15

omg lily, I'm so sorry to hear about your dh. what a shock. really praying he is back on his feet in no time. sleep well tonight my dear

kittywits · 03/07/2007 07:17

Oh no Tranny, how awful . Dp's (Bengali) family own resturants in Newcastle and I know that the brother who is in charges spends many a night stressed, chain smoking and up 'till all hours, it was the same for his father too. I guess it's just that sort of work environment. As you say it might be a wake up call. Here's wishing him a very speedy recovery.

eidsvold · 03/07/2007 07:31

no - got crap seats - the ticket company had two big events on sale yesterday and so you had a limited time to get seats. SO i had good seats - went to check where they were given we have four little ones - two with special needs only to find the bloody website had booted me out. By the time I got back in again - in order to get eight together - we are now right up the back in the nose bleed section!! bloody ticket company. However - the girls will just be excited they are at the wiggles.

piffle - take care and sorry to hear things are painful.

lilly - hope your dh recovers okay!!

not much happening here - relatively quiet week before winter break is finished. All got haircuts today - worked out our hairdressers ( who does my mum's hair, my hair and the dds - so 3 generations of hair!) has been doing my hair for almost 20 years!! she is fab and a perfectionist and a good cutter which makes all the difference.

the big variety stores have big toy sales mid year where they have things at crazy prices and different toys apart from the regular stock - one starts on THurs so I have been pouring over the catalogue with birthdays and christmas in mind. Best thing - You can lay by these toys and have until Christmas Eve to pay them off and pick them up!! saves storage here and that is how I have managed to get good things for the dds that we might have normally bought them. The nieces usually get stuff from there - that way christmas is sorted apart from stocking and adult stuff!

TransfiguratingLily · 03/07/2007 07:35

Thanks guys, I'm sure he'll be fine.
I hope he does take it seriously and change his ways now. It is very hard for me to make him do/not do anything, it has to be his choice. But I am determined to try and encourage him to get fit after this!

Mossy · 03/07/2007 07:42

Oh Lily I hope your dh is okay! What a shock for you all!

Eids, sorry to hear about the fiasco with the seats. I can't believe you are already thinking about Christmas. I knew you were organised but this is a whole new level!

Foxy pmsl at the poo / icecream!

Bertie has started playing with his first real toy, it is a crinkly dragonfly from Toys R Us, and of course it goes straight in his mouth... but he actually picks it up and holds it and everything!

Have a butchers... here

TransfiguratingLily · 03/07/2007 08:16

Mossy, Bertie looks great and so do you! Gosh, you look really slim and gorgeous and the new hairdo is lovely.

Mossy · 03/07/2007 08:34

Aw, thank you Lily.

Dove Tanning Moisturiser works miracles!

kiwibella · 03/07/2007 10:05

oooh la, la... your haircut really suits you Mossy. You look stunning - and radiant with your wee man. Also with your big guy too... I hope he enjoys pouring over the piccies of his beautiful family too. Isn't Bertie so clever holding his toy .

Rosy ((((hugs)))) this must be a worrying time for you. Bless your dh - hope he takes his time recovering and is ready to make some life changes for his family.

Kitty ... I know I shouldn't laugh but your dd peeing on the table is too much!!
