March 2007 - can't keep up

eidsvold · 18/06/2007 08:06

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

Rosy hope DH is ok - hope he also makes some changes, I lost my dad aged 49 to a huge heart attack So worth doing (sorry not very helpful info was it @ myself)

mossy you look FABULOUS!!!
If that is you after all the bloody stress you have had with Bertie and DH and lack of sleep etc I have NO excuse for looking like Hairy Mclary

Back feeling better today, osteo did work wonders, the lowest part is horrendous but am finally feeling relief from paracetamol and nurfofen.

Also can sit a little longer so things are better
Plus Finn slept a lovely 7 hrs last night so am refreshed of a kind.

foxcub · 03/07/2007 11:14

Tranny - [big hugs] to you and your Dh - hope he is OK. Keep us updated will you? [worried emoticon]

Piffle - PMSL at Hairy!!

Kitty - did you manage to finish your food or did you have to stop to wipe up wee then?

DollyPopsOut · 03/07/2007 12:44

Oh god rosy, that's awful Wishing him a speedy recovery .

Mossy you look FANTASTIC - so glowing and radiant! Bertie is a star! What a clever boy. I look like old woman of the hills so can't upload any photos at the moment...

Foxy, pssed myself with the ice cream cone. Must say, have had a few moments after beetroot which have made me panic in a similar way!

Kitty, wee is just not on. I have promised DD1 that if she wears her happy all night without taking it off and weeing in the bed, she can have her Thomas umbrella. So far, have done 5 nights of sprinting up the stairs as soon as I hear the sides ripped and the umbrella has remained under the stairs. I'm thinking perhaps it will get an outing in the autumn.

Hope all are well today

kittywits · 03/07/2007 13:47

Mossy, you look lovely. Doesn't Bertie look like you?!

foxcub · 03/07/2007 14:40

Isn't Bertie really cute? He looks so sweet

Dolly - after you came to our meet up I remember thinking my tum must be bleeding - having forgotten we'd eaten that beetroot salad!

sazzybee · 03/07/2007 17:07

You look lovely mossy! Am very of your lovely new haircut. I must get someone to come and look after Elliot for a bit so I can get mine cut - at the moment I wash it and put it up immediately otherwise it gets grabbed and yanked on. So it's usually still wet when I go to bed. I like Bertie's toy - the favourite round here is a bee thing with crinkly wings. It's so great when they finally start being able to hold things isn't it? I'm particularly pleased because E's hands were all stinky and sweaty but now they're a bit more open it's better (sorry if TMI).

Ooh lily am sorry about your DH - hope he makes a speedy recovery and this is the wake up call he needs to take a bit of time out.

And piffle I am sorry about your back - fingers xed your osteo can sort it out.

God Eids am dead impressed at your organisation! I was proud of myself for getting my nephew's birthday present 6 weeks before his birthday!

kitty - at your DD weeing. A few weeks ago I was playing with E on the changing table and heard a weird noise on the other side of the room. Turned out to be pee ricocheting off the side of the tummytub! I now make sure there is a tissue over the willy at all times. I'm learning!

Nothing exciting to report here except that Elliot woke up last night about 1.30 (ie too early for a feed) and I just gave him his dummy and he went back to sleep. Feel inordinately and stupidly proud

LunarSea · 03/07/2007 18:11

Mossy - we've got a smaller version of that dragonfly toy attaced to Toby's pushchair. He likes to eat its tail, for some reason known only to himself.

TransfiguratingLily · 03/07/2007 18:31

I blew a raspberry at Hasan today and he stuck his tongue out and tried to blow one back at me! Anyone else doing that? or shall i go over to the gifted and talented threads?

I was planning to fly with the baby to cork and drive dh back here to nurse him but dh wants me to drive the children down to cork because he wants to open the takeaway he's been working on I don't know what it is going to take to get dh to slow down.
I want him to sell up and come up to me and slow right down but I don't think he will.
Piffle even if I tell him about your Dad he'll probably just think it won't happen to him.

foxcub · 03/07/2007 20:27

Monti copies facial expressions too and kind of gurgles back to try and take part in conversations.
If you do a huge grin and gasp "HHHHello Monti!" he squeals with laughter.

They're like proper babies now - all chubby and drooly

spongecake · 03/07/2007 21:21

hi lily, your poor dh and you- i hope he slows down for you all..hope he feels better soon. i hate these long hours in the restuarant trade. will be telling my dp so it will be a warning to him- not that he will listen either

diva- not sure when you are back but i hope the travelling was ok and you feel ok too.

ds likes his cotbed! he sleeps all starfish now, so think he was a bit squashed up in his moses basket [blushes]

morocco · 03/07/2007 21:33

they all sound soooo cute. emily is just the same, gurgling and laughing when you stand over her and smile then tickle her tummy.
she had her 2nd jabs today and I decided that for the next lot I'm going to do the pneumovax and the general one only and then go back a month later for the booster men c.
first cold all sniffly and waking up all night

Callieco · 03/07/2007 21:47

Lily, so sorry about your DH. Hope he calms the work down.

Mossy, like the hair!

piffle, hope your back gets better.

Kitty, very funny about the pee.

Eids, got my niece a Wiggles CD a few years back and she loved it so much, my sister took her to see them live. Shame about your seats.

Bit tired, so hello to everyone else. Will post again soon.

eidsvold · 03/07/2007 23:23

well the toys that are on sale are big toys often or very popular toys at mad prices so by doing it this way and paying it off over a matter of months means the dds get some toys that will last and are fab without the mad pressure on the budget at the end of the year/beginning of next. Their birthdays are after the sales as is one nieces so I can also buy their presents and put them away.

Dd1 will be starting school proper next year so lots of things to buy at just after Christmas.

We are thinking of getting the dds a climbing frame as they love climbing and I am all for keeping them active in the garden - already have sandpit, swing set ( we got for nothing just had to buy new seats) and a slide.

I found last year - the pressure was off then of thinking of christmas gifts for the children that we buy for. It will be even better this year as it will mean less traipsing around with two dds and a huge pram !

So getting sorted now is pretty anal BUT it saves time, money worries and effort

I am not the only one - you see people with two and three trolleys loaded with toys and things!

eidsvold · 03/07/2007 23:25

mossy - he looks gorgeous!!

It is fab when they start 'doing' things and their little personalities start shining through. Dd3 is a real smily thing whereas dd2 was also so serious!

Brilliant Eidsvold! I would love to be that prepared but feel that I'm running to catch up with now never mind getting ahead for future events....one day...

I am waiting to hear today about more test results, hoping it might have been a severe angina attack rather than full blown heart attack. Dh is sleeping loads at the moment. I still don't know how long he'll be in or what I should do

Mossy · 04/07/2007 10:56

Lily must be really difficult you being so far away and not knowing exactly what the situation is.

Eids, you put me to shame. I think I'm doing well if I get Xmas prezzies before Christmas eve!!

Morocco hope Emily's cold gets better quickly; it's horrible isn't it?

Kitty, Bertie does look a bit like me; same eyes and big fod!

Sazzy am at Elliott's sleeping... I wish Bertie would settle for a dummy but no, it's boobilicious time every night!

Hello to everyone else. Bertie is having a "laughing boy" day today unfortunately; luckily mil has taken him off my hands for an hour or so so I can get a bit of rest!

Piffle · 04/07/2007 14:36

Eids you are so organised - one of the things I miss from NZ is the ability to lay by things....

You do have a decent MIL Mossy - good to get a decent break every now and then.
I am in miracuous situation of having dd and Finn both in bed at the sme time this arvo...

And the minute they went down - it rained at Wimbledon

So am here instead

Back feeling ok have been not carrying the little heffalump quite as often as mum has been helping, and am noticing how much better it feels...

Well dp has accepted a new job (he was hedhunted and had an offer too good to refuse) great news except that it is in Luton - we're in Sth Lincs so hello to a new 2 hr commute each way

T Lily hope your dh gets some news about when he can come out etc

Callieco · 04/07/2007 15:14

Horror of horrors, my beloved Mac laptop has gone bananas on me so I'm forced to use the PC. Just hoping some intelligent technogeek from a forum can help me cure it. Typically, it had to happen just when I'm trying to learn how to edit video on it . Am hoping it is temporary blip caused by stupid software update.

Well, DS has just had his third lot of shots. So far ok, he's asleep atm, so we'll see how the day develops.

Lily, I feel exactly the same about keeping up with now, never mind the future!!! And I've only got one nipper to worry about. Eids, hats off to you once again. Can you give classes in how to be organised???

For those of you using sleeping bags, what tog are you using now? I need to get some cos DS is kicking off the covers every night.

Am getting really fed up with this flipping weather. I know I was worried earlier in the year about forecasts of it being roasting hot this summer, and keeping the little 'un cool, but this is ridiculous. I just had an email from a friend of mine from Barcelona who I hadn't heard from for four years, so perhaps we should have a good long catch up at her place sometime soon - what do you reckon?!

DollyPopsOut · 04/07/2007 15:17

Hope you get good news soon Rosy.

Piffle - well done to DP for the new job. Bit of a pain re the commute though - might you think of moving? Glad your back is a bit better.

Hello Sazzy, hope you are well .

Glad you have a bit of time off Mossy. Your MIL is a treasure and you should think about renting her out.

Hello everyone else!

Am stressing a bit as I need to wear something "glamorous" to a party on Sat night. I have nothing summery and glamorous, and nothing wintry I can get into nork wise apart from a long red satin coat which a friend has lent me which (a) looks a bit like a dressing gown (though a very smart one) and (b) a bit Christmassy. Any suggestions? I am not feeling over flush at the moment so it would have to be a cheap top etc.

Mossy · 04/07/2007 15:19

Dolly I'm not great with clothes! I'm sure you'll look fine in whatever you choose, though.

Piffle congrats - I suppose - to your dh regarding the job; bugger about the commute though!

Callie when Bertie isn't in the bed with me, he's in a 1.0 tog. I got mine from the Dream Bag though, much cheaper than grobags!!

DollyPopsOut · 04/07/2007 15:31

Callie, I am leaving DD2 to sleep in just her gro at the moment. Our bedroom is really hot and a vest and a gro seem fine. I think a 1.0 tog bag would be fine as well, but I wouldn't go much above that as it's hot (and close) here but not sunny XXXX

Callieco · 04/07/2007 15:34

Mossy, where/what is the Dream Bag? Ta for that.

Mossy · 04/07/2007 16:28

the dream bag they're like grobags but cheaper!!

sazzybee · 04/07/2007 21:45

DS is sleeping in a 2.5 tog grobag. It never gets above 22 degrees in my bedroom (and drops to 20 at night). When I tried putting him a 1 tog one, he kept waking up. I find it a bit bemusing that one degree higher in temperature means that you go from a thin duvet to basically a thin jumper but I guess there has to be a cut off somewhere.

Dolly - have you got time to go to Debenhams (stupid question I expect)? That's where I got my 40 quid dress for my do tomorrow evening. A pretty stretchy top would be the thing. But that's what I was looking for to go with my lovely skirt and ended up getting the dress because I couldn't find a nice but cheap top

Congrats to your hubbie piffle although that commute's a bit of a bugger. Can you relocate or is that not possible?

Callie - yes! I think you should definitely go to Barcelona. All this rain is very bad for our psyche

Had two weird occurrences today - A friend who I've lost touch with got in touch with a friend of mine via facebook to try and contact me. It seems she's moved to the countryside and breeds llamas!

Second thing is that I went to see a friend for tea and her neighbour came round with her kids. And it turns out she's married to my ex If Gabi hadn't told me, I would have known anyway - the boy looks just like him. She was very tall and slim and gorgeous. And really nice too. Was a bit weird as she clearly had no idea who I was.
