you choose - for you or for your bubba

I can't believe the May thread is so excited that their babies are arriving. That time in our lives seems like soooooo long ago .

Well done Eids - what a fab evening. Your lifestyle sound fab actually - you seem to get out and have a lot of fun - well more fun than me anyway!

I may go out tonight too - on my own, to the Boden shop in Ealing!!! Just realised its open till 10 so I could there and back between feeds

Sazzy - some babies just don't know how to sleep and seem only to be able to sleep when on the move (like in a buggy/sling/carseat). DS1 was like that. I used to leave him in the garden 'cos he just wouldn't sleep in the house.

Its my dad's birthday today so am going to take a pressie round later (box of wine) - haven't spoken to him since he blew me out on the birth childcare just before Monti was born, but I can't not get him a pressie.

Today we've been shopping, been to hairdresser (DS1, for a surfy doody haircut), been to bookshop to buy books for next bookclub (picture tiny bookshop, huge buggy, crying baby and two fighting children, plus one exhausted Mum of three), rushing home for breastfeeds between each

Loads of power walking - two DCs in buggy and one very sweaty tired DS1

right am going to drop of Dad's present, and hope he just happens to be out at the time...

foxcub · 19/05/2007 16:56

ps am full of admiration for those of you donating breast milk - its a wonderful thing to do, for premmie babies

foxcub · 19/05/2007 16:58

"I used to leave him in the garden 'cos he just wouldn't sleep in the house" - that sounds terrible!

he was in our garden, safe and snug in his buggy and it was a warm summer!

...honestly

Shrinkinglily · 19/05/2007 18:52

Hee hee fox I put Hasan out too, he loves it.
Today he's been permanently on the boob. I can see him getting fatter before my very eyes.

My washing is a monster too.

Muppet - is your line full of men's pants then?

sazzybee · 19/05/2007 21:13

LOL at the laundry woes. I have managed to do a load of my clothes today - first time in weeks. Elliot seems to be hogging the machine rather

We put them out on the line together and they're still there.

Yes fox - I think you're right. I've got a non-sleeping model. I wouldn't mind exchanging him but I've lost my receipt. I didn't subject him to the horror of the bath tonight (weird thing which looks like a urinal hanging on the bathroom wall!) but did a very long wind-down and let him feed for ages. He didn't fall asleep so in the end I had to put him down and he finally fell asleep just before 9. I have been steeling myself to put him down in the day today - he managed a couple of 1/2 hour naps in his chair with me frantically rocking it. Is there some kind of self-rocking device you can get? My friend suggested I get one of those buggy treadmills but I've only seen them in the JoJo catalogue and they're 80 quid. Any cheaper ideas?

God that's long and dull - sorry!

TheBlonde · 19/05/2007 21:19

Hi all

I've been doing lots of washing here too - DD had 3 awful leaky nappies yesterday so lots of vanish usage too

DH is out tonight so I've had to do bedtime on my own. DS is still not asleep

I managed to convince my GP to give me my next B12 jab early so I'm feeling more perky now

DD is 8 weeks now but still having 8-10 feeds a day which is knackering

TheBlonde · 19/05/2007 21:23

Sazzy - I have sent you a CAM message about those treadmill things

LaidbackinEngland · 19/05/2007 21:29

Good evening ! I have returned from more house hunting in Devon and am pleased to say we have put an offer in on a house. We were looking out in the countryside, but then found a 5 bed victorian town house that is in a total state and needs some love. It was calling us like a wounded bird .

Hopefully will be able to complete and sort the house out before school starts in September.... am done with home educating DS1 !

Would love to ahve come to London meet up , but think I am away then. Kitty ...maybe we should meet up - I'm only 10 ish miles away ?

Amos is a little lamb. I am v. lucky to have DH around most of the time and he enjoys having him in the sling - we've got an ellaroo wrap thing.... I always joke that DH looks like Joseph and his technicolour dreamcoat

I spoke to my brother earlier... he has problems... his partner is 22 weeks pregnant and has ante-natal depression, on top of other psychological problems. She has physically assaulted him, keeps threatening suicide and he found her earlier with a belt round her neck. Very worrying. I have given him a whole lot of advice, but he is in a very dark place. Have told him, unless he does, I am going to phone her midwife on Monday to register my concerns. She is one of those women who is very good at telling everone she is OK when she is not IYSWIM. Should I keep my nose out ?

morocco · 19/05/2007 21:29

always got the machine on here too - I pay extra for that insurance thing as well, best value for money at my house
love seeing my nappies on the line - I;m a sad nappy freak
today i spent the entire day fixing the computer but look - wayhay - it's working! I am a techno star, it was completely mangled by a virus and had to be started again from scratch. pita.
spent the rest of the time well out of the way of dh and the footie
(btw, whispers in case dh is listening, can you believe dh woke me up at 5 this morning for a bit of hanky panky - got a very sharp retort I can tell you! what was he thinking of??? I know you ladies will understand my despair lol)

morocco · 19/05/2007 21:32

hiya laidback
great news about house- good luck with it all!
sounds v worrying about your brother's partner. I think you're right to try to contact the mw if noone else will but perhaps your brother will contact her now he has your advice? it sounds v stressful

LaidbackinEngland · 19/05/2007 21:39

Morocco, My brother's life is always stressful, and normally I steer well clear. He has lots of problems too and I don't want to stir things up between them as I suspect he is contributing to the stress of their situation. If there wasn't an (unborn) baby involved, I think I would keep out.

divastrop · 19/05/2007 22:08

laidback-is it their first child?has she been diagnosed and is she getting treatment?

if she hasnt seen anybody about it then i think you are right to intervene.AND is horrible, but nobody has to put up with it.

i hope they can get help.

ive been on here all night reading a MM thread where everyone is slagging each other off, just to take my mind off things.im a sicko!

LaidbackinEngland · 19/05/2007 22:10

Off to bed now...with a few glasses of white on board. Hope everyone doing OK, will catch up with reading the thread properly tomorrow.

night x

sazzybee · 19/05/2007 22:22

Thanks TheBlonde

I don't know how to get it though - what do I do? (technodunderhead emoticon)

laidback - yay! how exciting! I was watching some rubbish prog while bfing today and apparently that's what happened when tim smit saw the lost gardens of heligan - they were calling to him. You can be on grand designs with your fabulous restoration. Actually yes you should! Do it - we can watch you rolling your eyes at Kevin McCloud Sorry - bit carried away

What a horrible situation with your brother's partner. I think if I were you I would have to do something. Sounds like they could both do with some support.

morocco - at your dh! And no, that doesn't mean bj in this context

foxcub · 19/05/2007 22:45

Laidback - that's very worrying about your brother and his partner. I would do what you are doing and tell him to take action, on the threat that you will otherwise I hope she's OK, poor thing

House sounds wonderful

Sazzy - you can also get vibrating chairs, and I think we have one somewhere. I'll try and locate it before the picnic so Elliot can have a go in it, so you could se if it works.

Putting them on top of the washing machine while its on spin is supposed to send them off but a wee bit dangerous.

Morocco - at your DH - How very dare he?

Diva - off to have a nose on that slaaging off thread before I retire

TheBlonde · 20/05/2007 07:08

Fox - glad to hear your DH's job is sorted

Laidback - house sounds lovely, hope all goes well. No advice on your bro's situation sorry. Hope things improve

Sazzy - Mumsnet HQ will fwd my msg to your email, not sure if they fwd at the weekend so it might not arrive til Monday

Not happy with DH this morning. He said he wouldn't be out late last night but only rolled in at 4am and will be useless today with hangover and lack of sleep

TheBlonde · 20/05/2007 07:43

Sazzy - I knew I'd seen someone selling a dream machine
have a look at this

Shrinkinglily · 20/05/2007 08:24

Laidback how exciting about the house! It sounds delicious. Give us all the gorey details! you can be our very own grand designs
Definately keep sticking your nose in with your bro I think, that's what sisters are for. Pregnancy can be hard work even in the best of circumstances. I hope your sil feels better soon

Dd cut ds2 hair yesterday We live in chaos every day here at the moment. Sometimes I try to gain control of the whole situaion which only makes me grumpy so I soon give up...

kittyhas6 · 20/05/2007 08:47

Laidback, of course we should meet!! It will prob be easier for you to come here, it's a very easy trip along the a27. What a sad situation for your brother. You are right to be contacting her midwife. As you say, there's a baby a risk .

Foxy. that's great news re your dh's job, it must be a massive relief. Where's the slagging off thread then? I seem to be missing them at the mo

divastrop · 20/05/2007 10:41

kitty-i think the thread is full now, with 1000+ messages.it started off with some bloke saying the McCanns would have been arrested in this country...you can imagine the rest

theblonde at your dh!try and make as much noise as humanly possible and hide any painkillers you have in the house

im getting slightly concerned now cos af hasnt arrivedi was spotting on thursday/friday now nothing.i want gin.
