March 2007 - breakaway thread for lardy ladies

Thought I would start a separate thread for those of us on the March thread who are trying to lose weight etc so we can support each other without troubling the others with our food talk etc.

I'll start - have lost 8 1/2 lbs through Weightwatchers since DD2 born, with about another 2 stone to go.

Have done OK today, although I had 2 biscuits at a friend's house this morning. Not enough exercise either.

By the way, anyone from other months / years etc most welcome to join in

Let's see if we can help each other back to our former selves (or thinner in my case - my former self has ranged from a 12 to a large 16 over the years and I am aiming for the lower end again )

lol at fast bits!

kittywits · 20/06/2007 18:54

I haven't had fast bits for years!!

In this weeks "MORE" magazine ( I only read it for the sex tips and positions of the week!!!) they've got a page on alcoholic drinks made with melted choc bars. There's a picture of this liquid chocolate in a champagne glass and a flake in it!!!
Go and buy that magazine

foxcub · 20/06/2007 19:29

PMSL !

I have to admit to being more excited about the chocolate champagne than by the sex positions!

foxcub · 20/06/2007 19:31

Confession time: my dinner tonight was three bottles of beer and two pieces of birthday cake

kittywits · 20/06/2007 20:03

HOORAY!!!

foxcub · 20/06/2007 20:24
Wink
divastrop · 20/06/2007 20:53

i havent read more magazine since i was 19(ie before i got pregnant with ds1).i find it disapointing that they put picture of womsn on the front of it,when 'lads' mags have pictures of nudey woman on the front.i think more magazine would sell better if they put nudey,well-toned men on the front with a small star obscuring their todger.
plus it would make all the small-dick fat blokes feel inferior, like all those pert-boobed slim women make me feel inferior

i have lost another inch off my waist.its now 30.but still cant get into the jeans i was wearing when i met dp that make my bum look nice

divastrop · 20/06/2007 20:54

i cant spell as there is blood in my alcohol stream.

foxcub · 20/06/2007 21:49

Totally agree Diva - David Tennant in thigh boots and nowt else!

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Shrinkinglily · 21/06/2007 16:09

I feel a bit bloated today and I've put back on a couple of pounds But I did my yogalates last night and I'm just determined to keep at it. But progress is slow two steps forward one step back kind of palava.sigh.

foxcub · 21/06/2007 17:04

I didn't do my callanetics yesterday and have been in mad rush all day so have to try and fit them in later...

Shrinky - I really think its better to lose weight gradually. Crash diets just make people look ill and then they can't sustain the weight loss.

I think the key is to change attitudes to food. My Dh never eats when he is full, never snacks between meals etc. That's why he's skinny and i'm fat LOL!!

spongecake · 21/06/2007 20:03

its the thin end of the wedge...i am back on a square of dark chocolate at night, as when i was pgnt. also i had toast today with lots of butter. and had a go at callanetics but ds screamed so i stopped. on the plus side i have on my cut off jeans i wore before i was pgnt, and the belt went up to the 3rd hole! my tummy is still like a saggy balloon however

Shrinkinglily · 21/06/2007 20:08

Hee hee Fox, my bil would say 'no I won't have pudding thanks, I'm full up' and sis and I look at him aghast and say 'full up? What has that got to do with it?'

foxcub · 21/06/2007 20:24

Precisely Shrinky - that's my view too - puddings are for pleasure aren't they - after you have eaten up all your greens

muppethasakitten · 21/06/2007 22:40

I have been a bad naughty lady today...

lemon drizzle cake and fish and chips for dinner... wine... then prawn crackers and maoam sweeties!!!

Will only eat vegetables tomorrow...

spongecake · 21/06/2007 22:53

cake! hmm- have found recipe for lovely banana and honey cake, so will have a bash at it tomorrow!

divastrop · 21/06/2007 23:09

i have been chocolate naughty today.i have done my excersises though.

my weight just seems to go up and down all the time, though i have defo lost about 6lb in the last 6 weeks.its not much, though,as it was some of what i put on with the coil.

my dp doesnt understand the concept of dieting,as he also has the luxury of being able to eat when he's hungry and stop when he's full

personally,i blame my mother for making me clear my plate at every meal.i lost the ability to know when i was full when i was about 3 years old!

foxcub · 22/06/2007 07:30

Diva - I think that's what happened to me too. My obesity is my Mum's fault (as well as everything else)!

Shrinkinglily · 22/06/2007 10:35

I have great memories of sitting at the dinner table messing with my sisters for about an hour after dinner because we weren't allowed to get up from the table until we had cleared our plates. And our dinner was all cold and even more horrible by then

Diva 6 lbs is loads just look at 6 bags of sugar in the supermarket...and that is weight you are no longer carrying about!

kittywits · 22/06/2007 12:08

Fox, I was lying on dd2's toddler bed the other evening and she told me to get off or I'd break it. I thought of you!!
I'm doing quite well on the food front, but pretty poorly on the alcohol one

foxcub · 22/06/2007 13:03

me too kitty - my reduction in food calaories has been matched by my increase in alcohol calories!

Shrinkinglily · 22/06/2007 13:55

you pack of drooths

I'm stuffing my face with farleys rusks to stop myself from getting stuck into the chocolate hobnobs

foxcub · 22/06/2007 20:13

All I've eaten today is a big bowl of porridge and several weightwatchers fruit trifles

kittywits · 22/06/2007 20:48

What are you going to drink tonight foxy?

divastrop · 22/06/2007 21:38

ive had 2 large gin and oranges(for medicinal purposes,ie stress relief).had chippy for tea but i only had a spring roll and a few chips that i nicked of ds2.

dp said that a 'proper' workout should last an hour, and that i dont need to do it anyway as he loves me the way i am..i said im not doing it for him,im doing it for me,and i dont want to body-build,i just want to do 15 mins a night to tone up a little and burn a few calories.he said he was just trying to help.

dd1 commented on a new pair of cropped jeans i bought today.she said that her teacher wears things like that.i said(rather bitchily and childishly)'your teacher has a fat bum'(which is true)and dd1 replied 'yes, but not as fat as yours'

serves me right.
