March 2007 - breakaway thread for lardy ladies

Thought I would start a separate thread for those of us on the March thread who are trying to lose weight etc so we can support each other without troubling the others with our food talk etc.

I'll start - have lost 8 1/2 lbs through Weightwatchers since DD2 born, with about another 2 stone to go.

Have done OK today, although I had 2 biscuits at a friend's house this morning. Not enough exercise either.

By the way, anyone from other months / years etc most welcome to join in

Let's see if we can help each other back to our former selves (or thinner in my case - my former self has ranged from a 12 to a large 16 over the years and I am aiming for the lower end again )

Spaniel's ears!

Mine are more like Elephant's ears!!

I had mega Shreddies, then pot noodles for lunch, baked potatoe with baked beans and tuna mayonaise for dins. Plus a bottle of beer and two large Roses - hot weather makes me want alcohol

Actually Shrinky - I think I'm past the hard bit with chocolate. DS was eating some and I could smell it and the smell didn't drive me wild!

Have now placed my video "Quick Callenetics - the complete 20 minute stomache workout" next to the video machine.....

foxcub · 09/06/2007 23:06

ooh I don't half fancy some shreddies now - I will resist!

kittyhas6 · 10/06/2007 10:44

Wel, that's a start foxy

Is it wheat of yeast that makes you bloated do you think?
I know what you mean about alcohol. I had 2 extraordinarilly strong gin and oranges yesterday, I don't fancy eating so much though, need to get my calories from somewhere

divastrop · 10/06/2007 16:02

i did bad today.i got a 3 pack of magunm rip-off ice creams from tesco(normally i would have got 4 so there was a spare that i just had to eat)for the dc,but ds and dd1 didnt like them,so i ended up eating one and a bit(ds2 my little darling took the rest off me).and a chocolate bar.

but dp has burned that excersise dvd to disc now so i will be doing that tonight when i find some leggings

i had 2 glasses of wine last night.alcohol is a necessity and thus should not be counted when adding up ones calorie intake

foxcub · 10/06/2007 16:49

I totally agree Diva (about the alcohol)

Kitty - apparently wheat is bloating in itself but I think the yeast in bread makes bread much worse than, say, pasta. Apparently wholemeal pasta is OK though!

Shrinkinglily · 10/06/2007 18:26

wholemeal pasta takes a bit of chewing though doesn't it.

Well today I did partake of something chocolatey (ducks to avoid half eaten bowl of shreddies)

.........BUT it was sugar free chocolate custard with strawberries made by my sister. So hopefully I haven't done too much damage.

foxcub · 10/06/2007 21:49

Shrinky!!!!!

Shrinkinglily · 10/06/2007 22:47

I'm very naughty but my sis had gone to all that trouble, it would have been positively rude to not eat the chocolatey thing.....

I also didn't do any yogalates again today.

But tomorrow I'm back on track. Yep.

foxcub · 11/06/2007 11:35

Actually, now you put it that way Shrinky, I have to agree !!

Mind you, its a slippery slope....to addiction

I've watched the cellenetics vid twice now but still haven't attempetd any

She uses language in the video like "stretch 2 ninches more than you think you can" LOL!

muppethasakitten · 11/06/2007 13:50

Used the scales at my mum's house... only lost about 7lbs in around 4 or 5 weeks that's a bit pants isn't it? ... truly thought it would be a bit more... consoled myself with beer and lemon drizzle cake.

Shrinkinglily · 11/06/2007 14:07

More than a pound a week is great muppet! If I lose a pound a week I'll be happy. I think if you lose it quick it's easier to put back on isn't it?

I'm resisting that slippery slope today. Thank goodness I haven't got a thing for alcohol like I do for chocolate

It is so warm, phew.

kittywits · 11/06/2007 15:01

I can picture it now, shrinky banging on her neighbours' doors begging them to bake her a chocolate desert so that she has to eat it in case she causes offence

Shrinkinglily · 11/06/2007 15:09
Grin
foxcub · 11/06/2007 16:25

LOL!

Addicts do resort to desperate measures!!

TheBlonde · 11/06/2007 19:54

Right I am rejoining you ladies
How are you all doing?

Is the Callanetics compulsory?

foxcub · 11/06/2007 19:56

No LOL!!!

I actually tried the callenetics tonight, Grrls.

She kind of lulls you into a false sense of security and then whackas you with some very very hard excercises.

Kitty/Muppet - do you do the tummy ones? They are soooo hard!!! I could really feel it though!

kittywits · 11/06/2007 20:48

Foxy, they are all killers. I don't find the stomach ones the hardest, but they are hard, well doing 400 sit ups has gotta hurt. Works though , and works quickly!!

TheBlonde, not compulsory but v.v effective

i'm not doing too badly. The callanetics is really helping with my tum. There are still rolls of fat but it feels alot firmer beneath those rolls iyswim

Shrinkinglily · 11/06/2007 21:00

Kitty my muscles feel firmer underneath my rolls too
The blonde I'm doing yogalates which is much more classy than callanetics, (though obviously not as entertaining )

kittywits · 11/06/2007 22:00

shrinky doesn't it involve doing concentating? I was always rubbish at yoga as I could never concentrate on my breathing, kept thinking about things like what I was going to have for dinner

foxcub · 11/06/2007 22:03

Shrinky - so its a blend of yoga and pilates presumably? I liked yoga when I did it - not so sure aboyt pilates. My teacher had a lomg thin body and abnormally long neck. I felt sure the pilates had lengthened her neck to giraffe like proportions

divastrop · 11/06/2007 22:08

erm..i drank too much gin

i am waiting for the pounds to drop off without any effort now

Shrinkinglily · 11/06/2007 22:41

my guru

Shrinkinglily · 11/06/2007 22:43

she has quite a long neck!

kittywits · 12/06/2007 07:00

According to the reviews on Amazon she doesn't stop talking and has a really annoying voice . is it true ?

Shrinkinglily · 12/06/2007 08:15

She talks you through every breath practically, everything she says is useful but it is constant.
It doesn't annoy me though. I find with each movement it feels absolutely right for my body. Some of the balancing positions I can't do fully yet. I always loved yoga anyway.
I would like to do the callanetics too though because I did it years ago and it is really good. From what I can remember some of the movements are similar to the yogalates.

I've only lost 1 lb since last week. But I think my middle is going down. So I shall persevere.
