Not sure if a thread exists already. If so, point me in the right direction.
Here's a place to celebrate our bundles of joy and find support for everything from stitches to breastfeeding, partners and sleep and anything else we may come across in the early days to challenge us!

Half star i think my ds and your dd are obviously following the same rule book! He is 7 weeks 5 days and likewise is hardly sleeping during the day. He is currently asleep on me and is absolutely sound.. But should I attempt to put him down he will be awake in seconds. We have had a couple of nights this week where ds has been up from around 3am.. On Friday morning i eventually got him settled in his pram around 6am (while I then collapsed in exhaustion on the sofa)
I went to a sling library today. We have borrowed the moby aria baby carrier. Tried it briefly earlier and he seemed to like it (he fell asleep - in taking that as a positive Smile)
We are starting to get some smiles when he is awake though which is lovely. He seems to know it is necessary to give nice smiles at 4am when he has been awake for hours 😂

Not much fun here. Toddler with d&v and a broken washing machine! Had guests all wkd and she was so sick. She's still suffering, we're still housebound, and she's the worst patient ever!

Oh no blinkineckmum! That’s awful. Hope you and baby don’t catch it!!!

blinkineckmum · 30/04/2018 14:09

Me too! Though it looks like big bro has it. All 3 babes asleep now. I'll be gutted if they're off preschool all week!

Oh no @blinkineckmum hope they are feeling better soon!!!

blinkineckmum · 30/04/2018 14:30

Thank you. Hoping this afternoon napping will aid recovery and not just cause another nightmare bedtime!

Really worried about how I'll cope now both kids are so ill. 4yo vomiting and hallucinating. Worried about him of course, and how tonight/ tomorrow will be...

Hi blinkeneck how did the night go? My 6 yr old had this (though not as bad) the other week. Sounds awful for you.

blinkineckmum · 01/05/2018 10:41

Both preschoolers slept well, thank you. Not so for baby and I, as she struggled with a cold!
The minute dad walked out for work this morning though we had sick from one, poo from the other, and baby crying!
We're coping though. And the new washing machine is installed!

Glad they slept alright for you!
We have just the first set of immunisations - Confusedthat wasnt nice! Poor baby!

Ragdolly81 · 01/05/2018 14:26

Sorry to hear everyone is unwell. Must be hard going for you. I have tonsillitis and my L10 has broke his ankle. my little one is 5 weeks now and sleeping amazing at night but awake nearly all day. My 5 year old is having tantrums which he has never done before so I am assuming its because of the new baby and he is wanting attention not that he has been ignored if anything he is being fussed over more. I feel like I can't get anything done during the day at all. The house is starting to look a mess now and its driving me crazy. When my little one is awake she wants attention none stop although I am being rewarded with lots of big smiles which is making the mess of the house worth while lol

Ragdolly81 · 01/05/2018 14:27

My 14 year old not my L10 lol

HalfStar · 02/05/2018 14:08

Yes to the messy house ragdolly! Mine was spotless the day I went into labour and since then it's been slipping into a mess. The laundry is really getting out of hand. I'm trying to sort out clothes for the charity shop/clothes recycling bin. My two older kids seem to have far too many clothes all of a sudden.

Dd not napping too much either. She sleeps fine in the sling but not very well in the pram - wakes after 20 mins and then cries and cries which is really awful when I'm out and about and have to dash home Hmm i feel like I should have this shit figured out by now! I'm currently working on getting her to take a dummy because otherwise car journeys are awful with her.

Reflux is still a bit of an issue but she does seem to be sleeping ok at night at the minute - did a 5.5 hour stretch last night, i woke up panicking with giant boobs. It won't last though!

Ragdolly81 · 02/05/2018 14:39

My little one will take a dummy for all of 5 seconds then spits out. She is sleeping between 6-7 hours a night I did panic and woke her up to check she was ok lol. I to feel I should have it all figured out by now what with her being my 4th child but no i am a complete mess I look like I have been dragged through a hedge backwards lol. She won't sleep much during the day and will cry none stop of u lay her down up even lay her in her swinging chair. All she wants to do is be carried around and nosy. I dread leaving the house as I have to get all the kids ready and by the time I have managed to persuade my 5 year old to get dressed and put his coat on the little one is due a fed again lol. I to have piles of washing to do and it seems never ending at the moment lol

HalfStar · 02/05/2018 14:54

Sorry it's tough for you ragdolly but I'm kind of relieved to hear it's not just me who's all over the place! I keep being told about how 3rd child just 'slots right in' etc and yes while that's kind of the case some babies still just want to be held all the time and not much you can do about that. I bet you're managing brilliantly. It is hard! Do you have a sling? I put dd in a sling for the morning rush and it's so much easier that way.

Currently having a Brew and sorting laundry and trying to remember all the to dos. Mostly bills to be paid. Boo

HalfStar · 02/05/2018 14:55

I'm having tea not gin!

blinkineckmum · 02/05/2018 15:09

Get the gin in! I'm having hot chocolate with my 2yo as the 4yo sleeps off his d&v virus and the baby is in a sling. We've been in quarantine for a week noe and I'm going mad! New washing machine arrived yesterday and I must've done 15 loads so far!
Baby is lovely. Gave me 3 solid hours sleep last night. She's had a cold for a month now and struggles to breathe at night. Getting so fed up for her.

Ragdolly81 · 02/05/2018 15:57

No i don't have a sling I have thought about it just not got round to it. My 5 year old is getting very clingy aswell and wants to be carried everywhere. Your defo not on your own as much as the 3rd and 4th babies do slot in it doesn't mean its any easier and if you have a baby that cry's a lot or wont sleep it can be hard. I am lucky with the night sleeping but its hard during the day as nothing can really entertain a 5 week old lol. Got my appointment on the 14th to get my little ones sacrel dimple check as well so bit nervous about that and I would give anything to have another adult in the house to help me out a bit lol

blinkineckmum · 02/05/2018 16:30

I don't know how you do it alone. Superwoman!

OP posts:
Ragdolly81 · 02/05/2018 17:28

Lol not superwoman at all lol I am worn out by the time its 8pm I can't keep my eyes open. When I cook meals I have the 5 year old sat on the counter next to me and the little one in her car seat on the other side of me lol. I have a little routine going now and I eat one handed at times with little one on my knee and 5 year old squashed up next to me haha

blinkineckmum · 02/05/2018 18:46

Sounds like you have it sussed!

Hey mamma’s I salute all of you who have several children, I’m struggling with just two!

I’m trying not to notice the mess and dust that is building up and trying to remind myself that this cuddly newborn phase goes so quickly and am enjoying cuddles instead of stressing that I can do the dusting as I’m stuck on sofa trying to get little one to have a nap (she has to fall asleep on me after feed and then I have to wait till she is really asleep and can be put in her basket/pram asleep). I’m sure I should be getting her to self settle etc. But enjoying it for now!

I feel very guilty I can’t pkay as much with my 3 yo. But hoping she’ll forgive me and when baby is able to nap alone I’ll try to make up for it!

I’ve got my hospital appointment tomorrow with physio to look into my tummy issues (I’ve got diastis recti (separated abdominal muscles)) and I’m really hoping they can give me some excercises to try to close the gap a bit. If not I may be looking at surgery. My bump is still very big and I look about 5 months pregnant at 4 weeks post partum. Getting really down about it... I need to try and be more positive.

Sorry to hear about the children being poorly with d&v and colds etc. Let’s hope all better soon

Smurf123 · 02/05/2018 22:11

One is hard enough and I know in the general scheme of things he is a relatively good baby.
He has just spit up everywhere. It seems like an awful lot, looks like more than just the feed he was having in terms of quantity. He's been a bit fussy all evening and has spent most of the evening either letting out cries or working his mouth like he is chewing or eating something. Sometimes like he is almost gagging but not quite. I don't know is it just spitting up like babies sometimes do or is it from his vaccinations yesterday..
He feels a little warm to me but the thermometer says he has no temperature.. His nose is all snuffly too 🙁

Vickylou78 · 04/05/2018 11:06

How is he @smurf123? Hopefully just the normal baby milk sick rather than illness?

blinkineckmum · 04/05/2018 15:30

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend everyone! Hope you manage to enjoy the sunshine with the babies. Don't forget the hats and suncream! We left the house today for the first time in a week! Fed the ducks... now all 3 asleep and I'm sure I'll pay for it at bedtime!
