Not sure if a thread exists already. If so, point me in the right direction.
Here's a place to celebrate our bundles of joy and find support for everything from stitches to breastfeeding, partners and sleep and anything else we may come across in the early days to challenge us!

Oh no quick wake them up!! 😬

Have a great weekend too!

Smurf123 · 04/05/2018 21:05

I think it was just baby milk spit up @Vickylou78 although maybe also 8week immunisations related as he had them the day before and has been a little out of sorts since
We have the suncream and hat bought... But in this part of UK I think we might get more clouds than sunshine.. We definitely are only due to be getting about 17/18 degrees compared to the 24 predicted for London on Monday!! Not at all jealous!! Have a lovely weekend everyone!!

Vickylou78 · 08/05/2018 14:16

All quiet! You all ok?
My little dd is now almost 5 weeks, growing well. Not quite smiling but we think could be any day now!

This week we are trying the old ‘put baby down drowsy but awake thing!’. It’s worked twice but big failure rest of naps... always ending up cuddling to sleep then transferring to cot. Anyone else having any luck? Or is she too young for this anyway?

I had my separated abdominals (Diastasis recti) checked last week. Worse than thought as is 2cm above navel, 6cm at navel and 4cm below navel all the way down to pubic bone. Been given some physio exercises to do but physio not sure if I’ll ever be able to close the gap. Sad. Have no strength and bad back etc. Look pregnant. Is bit rubbish!

Hope you all ok.

blinkineckmum · 08/05/2018 15:48

Sorry to hear that VickyLou. Can't help on putting baby down awake. Mine always went to sleep easily when tiny but bedtime is a nightmare with my 2yo! So I am not qualified to advise!
Loving 8 week old babe. Lots of smiles and enjoying toys. But no sleep as she has a constant cold and can't breathe well at night.

OP posts:
Vickylou78 · 08/05/2018 19:13

Oh dear blinkineck, hope that cold goes soon and you get some sleep! As for the 2 yr old, hopefully just a phase and bedtimes will improve. I have my own issues with my 3yr old who goes to sleep nicely but is nightmare brushing her teeth!

Ragdolly81 · 09/05/2018 12:06

I think every kid is different I have a nightmaregetting my 5 year old to staying his bed and go to sleep but when my 14 year old was that age he was so easy to get to bed and sleep. My little girl is 6 weeks now and hates to sleep during the day and hates being put down but she sleeps great of a night. I dont think there is any magic trick to getting any kid to sleep or go to bed at the right time its just trial and error and a lot of patience lol

MrsL2016 · 09/05/2018 14:11

We have just started putting our DS down in his crib swaddled but awake. He moves around for a bit and makes a few moaning type noises then goes off to sleep. He is very hit and miss with a dummy but we keep offering it to help with soothing. I would never leave him to cry or put him down already crying but so far he is almost always falling asleep after 10/15 minutes. He is 7 weeks on Saturday. It's great for freeing me up from the half an hour of rocking and shhing I was doing before but I miss the cuddles.

HalfStar · 09/05/2018 14:38

God, none of mine have ever done that at that age. It sounds great! We are still at the sling or rock to sleep in pram stage. Doubt it will change for ages. She absolutely hates the dummy. But i really want her to take it because sometimes car journeys where no one can soothe her are unavoidable. Anyone got any tips?

Colic and crying seems to be settling a bit thankfully. She's happier to do spells in her swing chair now and look out at us all Grin

Sorry to hear that Vickylou its a bummer for you.

Hope everyone else doing ok.

TheMrs04 · 10/05/2018 15:50

Afternoon all! How is everyone??

Been quiet as I've been absolutely non stop for the last few weeks!
My mum had her op to remove the cancer and glad to say they got it all! Just waiting to see what treatment they are going to offer her next! She is currently subbing herself in Ibiza for a week whilst I juggle 4 dogs a rabbit and my 2 boys! 😬 so far so good!!
We've just been for our 6week check with the dr and hv today! Little man is absolutely perfect! Weighing in at 10lbs15oz!! Little chunk!

Hope everyone is doing good!

blinkineckmum · 11/05/2018 15:35

Good news re: your mum TheMrs04!
I've just had the HV today. She is concerned about baby's blocked nose. She has her 8 week check on Tues so I'll raise it then. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it and start getting more sleep! She also noticed DD1's speech. Totally overlooked by me but she can't say B, D or L or we're getting a referral for that, and her inability to switch off at night! I have the 3 to myself this wkd as DH is away!
Hope everyone's well.

TheMrs04 that is great news about your mum, must be such a relief.

blinkineckmum good luck for your weekend going solo! Hope all 3 DC are good for you.

All fine with me. Little one is doing great! Putting on plenty of weight & feeding well. Still waking only once in the night for a feed, seems too good to be true! He is much more alert now & enjoying having a kick around on his playmat & very nearly there with the smiles Smile

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

HalfStar · 12/05/2018 10:49

blinkineck what does the HV think is up with dd's nose? My dd's nose is quite stuffy a lot of the time. Have to spray it with saline solution fairly frequently. Hope the weekend goes ok, brave of you to do it solo! Dh will owe you one!

HalfStar · 12/05/2018 10:49

Great news about your mum's treatment so far Mrs

TheMrs04 · 12/05/2018 13:14

Thanks all! 😊

How is everyone's weekend so far?
Currently contemplating going for a walk along the beach.... before the weather turns!

Ds1 has now decided it would be fun to climb out if his travel cot which means he's now having to sleep in my bed... so not only do I have a 2 year old sharing my bed at night but ds2 is a fuss pot at night meaning I'm up till silly o'clock feeding/burping/cuddling..

DH is getting away with all of this!! But only for another week 😆

HalfStar · 13/05/2018 15:05

So dd is 9 weeks and I'm starting to think we need to start a bedtime routine soon as I don't really think she's getting enough night time sleep or indeed sleep in general Confused

Currently she just stays up with us in the evening, feeding and dozing, but not a huge amount of dozing tbh. Would like to have her in bed sometime around 9pm and take it from there. What are the rest of you doing?

MrsL2016 · 13/05/2018 18:14

My DS stays downstairs with us in the evening but after the 6/7pm feed we have a bath or some awake time that is less stimulating and then swaddle and put him in his crib with the curtains closed and lights/tv on low. He usually sleeps until the next feed near midnight which is when we all go to bed and the only difference is that there is no awake time apart from the feed and the nappy change. Keep everything as dim and quiet as possible so baby knows it's night time. The only problem we are having is that it is getting light in our bedroom so early in the morning that he thinks 6am is morning and wants to be awake. We have just bought some blackout curtains and will definitely getting some for his room too.

Vickylou78 · 13/05/2018 18:15

@halfstar we are doing same, our dd (5 weeks) is downstairs with us in the evening. Some of that time is sleeping in pram bassinet but a lot of it is cuddling! She comes up to bed with us after her last feed around 11.30ish. Not sure about putting her upstairs on her own yet though.. but I agree a routine would be better at some point!

blinkineckmum · 13/05/2018 21:02

Hi. The weekend flying solo was great! The older kids went to bed nicely and slept through, and I got a 4 hour stretch of sleep! And I had a lovely long nap this afternoon in payment!
I'm afraid we're a long way from bedtime routine. At the mo we focus on the other two from 5.30pm ish (dinner time) until 8pm ish (finally asleep!). Baby hangs out with us all, usually awake. Then we have dinner etc, usually taking turns to cuddle/ play with her. I head to bed at 11ish by which time babe has usually flaked out. I feed her, change her and we both go to sleep x

Ragdolly81 · 14/05/2018 09:16

I have a bedtime routine because of my other kids so its normally 7pm baths then bottle for dd a warm milk for ddose other 2 are to old for all that then in bed for 8 dd sleeps through till half 5 then she has a bottle and back to sleep till 7-8 ds3 is a bit of a nightmare to get settled but is normally asleep by 9 then he wakes at 7 with my ds2 for school. My dd stays awake most the day now so glad of some sleep of night.

Smurf123 · 14/05/2018 15:52

Every time I think we have got a bit of a night time routine ds seems to change his mind and it goes out the window. Yesterday he pretty much fed from 7pm until 1130 finally fell asleep at 1130 until 3 (fed until just after 4) then 6 then 8. Struggling a little with the amount of breastfeeding and feeling stuck to the sofa!

HazyDays81 · 14/05/2018 17:06

DS3 is 7 weeks today. He’s downstairs with us & will play & sleep in the evening. He usually settles down properly around 9. I then do a change & feed at 11. He then wakes around 4ish for a feed & change & then goes through to the morning 6.30/7ish. He just seems to have fallen into this pattern & it works well for us. I don’t think he’ll be in his Moses basket or pram carrycot for much longer as he’s very long (just like his big bros!)

Smurf123 · 14/05/2018 21:12

Is it possible I have a 10 week old teething baby???!
We have lots of drooling, red cheeks and chomping on everything usually his own hand or my finger.

MrsL2016 · 14/05/2018 21:42

I have heard some babies can teeth early and even be born with a few, so it is definitely a possibility. My DS does like to chew his hand aswell though, and I have had a feel around his gums and can't feel anything.

Smurf123 · 14/05/2018 21:49

The hand chewing is relatively new for him, at least to the extent he is doing it. The drooling is new and wow I didn't know so much drool from a little person was possible 😂
I hadn't thought of teething I just assumed it was too early until someone told me they thought he was teething when we were out today. We shall see..

blinkineckmum · 15/05/2018 06:46

They all start sucking their hands at about that age. But if he's going to get teeth early, they could be moving around and causing discomfort. Hope you get a few months respite though! Mine gave me a 5 hour stretch of sleep last night! I woke up half way through though!
