laughalot - my dad's birthday was yesterday too!! what did you get him?

well last night was crap. Z woke up every 2 hours and wanted a feed. i fed him and he went back down, but i'm knackered now. dh doesn't help as much as he could and i feel fat and frumpy even after yesterdays size 14 triumph.

seriously though, i was so upset and angry with dh this morning i was on the verge of walking out on him. the thing is, i've surrendered my independence and i don't have any money of my own, i don't know where i'd go.

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 12:09

UD - have you told DH how you feel?

theUrbanDryad · 09/05/2007 13:58

yes - in great detail. several times. we have the conversation at least once a week.

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 14:39

UD - at least you are talking about it with him. Have you given him specific tasks to do, that has really helped me. I think its a big shock for blokes when they realise that they are no longer the babies and have to do the looking after themselves. We have 9 months to prepare for it, and whilst I am not in anyway making allowances, they take much longer to adjust.

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 14:47

Ok, WTF is the magic ingredient in that Ashton Kutcher powder?
I have just had DJ screaming like a banshee for no apparent reason for the last 20 mins. Then I put some of that powder on his dummy and he calmed down instantly. What is it? Can grownups use it too?

laughalot · 09/05/2007 14:50

Nom nom flapjacks will have to wait for another day went down the local village and couldnt get a square cake tin .... also the chemist dont have colief so will have to wait till I can get into town there was no way I was taking the kids on the bus into mansfield.

laughalot · 09/05/2007 14:51

Lizz I think wilkie has fallen out with me since I suggested them for j they knocked him out for a few hours and she was worried they work a treat dont they.

laughalot · 09/05/2007 14:52

Wilks I am only joking lovie

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 15:33

LaL - I'm not sure what to do. He is due a feed, but he's sparko now. What on earth are in them?!
Am I a bad mother for using them? Maybe I could give him an afternoon dream feed!

theUrbanDryad · 09/05/2007 15:52

i think Z has built up a resistance to them!! they don't seem to have any effect now!

well, today so far i've done 4 loads of washing, put them all to dry, tidied up the massive backlog of clean laundry, been shopping and cooked a lasagne for tea. dh can do the hoovering when he gets home. i deserve tea and a cake....

Galmum - forgot to say earlier durin my self-pitying whinge, the bf-ing picnic is on the 19th May, from midday till around 6pm ish, at Parliament Square. i'm still waiting to hear back from the police about permission but i can't imagine they'll be able to say no. i mean, a load of mums breastfeeding and eating cake hardly constitutes a threat to national security does it?

Wilkie · 09/05/2007 16:28

Lizz & LAL - I am actually an advocate of Ashton Kutcher powder now. It's great for long journeys too. Give it half hour before and it knocks J out for the entire journey to Manchester.

PCF - I started weaning J at 14.5 weeks but I would personally class 16 weeks as 4 months. He's had sweet potato for lunch and nom nomed it up. Have just made a batch of pureed apple that is now in my freezer in ice cube trays.

J has been a little star today. Really giggly and smiley. Although he did have a proper screaming fit when I went into work and this big fat bitch that I really hate picked him up. I went to give him his dummy and she said...wait for it...."Don't you dare put that in his mouth when I'm holding him, bloody things..." and I said through gritted teeth "With all due respect he is my baby and I will do what I like" and snatched him back off her. FFS!!!!!!!!!! (didn't realise dummies were made of arsenic??!!! ) Felt like saying "Well maybe we should give one to you to stop you stuffing cake into your big fat mouth you fat, smelly witch". Can you tell I don't like her???

EAH - what did the mother say?

Has anyone heard anymore on that little Madeleine girl??

katwith3kittens · 09/05/2007 16:42

No, come on now, just googled Ashton Kutcher and he's definitely not powder. What on earth are you all talking about ?

Wilkie · 09/05/2007 16:43

It's Ashton & Parsons teething powders AKA cocaine for babies

katwith3kittens · 09/05/2007 16:57

Aah, makes a bit more sense now !

I think Ashton Kutcher is a bit more exciting tho

theUrbanDryad · 09/05/2007 17:04

Wilkie!!! i'd've knocked her out if she'd said that to me!! i think you were very restrained.

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 17:20

I think its the opposite of cocaine for babies, as it just sends them straight to sleep. Its herbal though, so its ok..right? Its made from daisies or something.

Ok, so this rolling over lark - whose baby can roll from their tummies onto their backs? Its doing my head in having to turn him over from his tummy when he rolls onto his front then gets stuck!
Experienced Mums - how long does this phase last for? I'm bored now!

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 17:33

Ud - re. BF picinic and getting arrested.
I reckon I could easily get arrested for eating cake, for crimes against my arse.
I've had 3, yes T H R E E. very large slices of my (unhealthy) flapjack, a kit kat and my new favourite retro snack, a tunnocks caramel wafer. And I have cut my BF feeds back to 50% so I should only be eating 250 extra calories, not 500. Have out done myself. I think I should get my biscuit tin locked up!
Cant type any more... chubby lardarse fingers too big for keyboard...x

MrsCarrot · 09/05/2007 17:43

yum, I love those caramel wafers, Lizz, the kids like them in their lunchboxes too. I had two slices of syrupy lemon cake at my friends today, kind of cancelled out the healthy salmon salad

Wilkie I think I might have had to wallop her! You should have done your kickboxing

Laughalot, Felix is sort of rolling from one to the other, but he HATES being on his front so it's a bit boring, no 'tummy time' here, ha ha. Where is LTH?

And please, what are these powders? We have had the homeopathic 'teetha' ones before that contain Chamomilla, but I don't think they send them to sleep! Ashton kutchon?

Hello to everyone else

Oh, and UD, Felix woke up loads last night but I think they have a growth spurt around now do they, and want to change the milk so feed more? I hope it settles down soon.

canmummy · 09/05/2007 17:56

Liz what do you mean your flapjack is unhealthy? I'd better not make any else i'll end up eating the whole lot! I feel very virtuous as I made something out of my ww cookery book for tea

Wilkie - I think your alternative response would have been hilarious but well done for being so diplomatic

UD - sorry your having problems with your dh. Mine drives me mad too but I've learnt to live with the fact he'll never change and try to focus on his positive sides. I also got a few pounds put away in my name so I don't feel so dependent. He knows about it but it's a so-called "rainy day" account. I also try and get out and do something for myself when I can (although not always worth it when I get home and see the chaos that happens when I'm not there)

laughalot · 09/05/2007 18:41

I had a slice of yummy yummy carrot cake sorry mrs carrot but you are so tasty , mrs carrot it was lizz asking about babies rolling not me

laughalot · 09/05/2007 18:53

I am sad that there is a jan 08 thread it actually says new year but they are all due in jan

Galmum · 09/05/2007 19:02

Thanks UD - meant to be seeing a friend that day, but will try to rearrange. Sounds like you have been superwoman!

Lizz - thanks for making me feel better on the food front - can't wait to make the flapjacks! Updated food diary - OMG - What a piggy I am !

bowl of bran flakes + sultanas
bagel & cream cheese(light!)
2 slices of malted fruit loaf
1 pear
chorizo sandwich
special k bar
3 biscuits at new Mums group
2 tea cakes!!
1 pear

all I can now think about is what to have for tea!!

LAL - Are you originally from Notts?? I live in London now but I'm from Nottingham and my folks and brother + family still live there.

laughalot · 09/05/2007 19:15

Yes I am gal I live about 15 min away from sherwood forest, where are your family from ?

Wilkie · 09/05/2007 19:17

LL - is that North Notts? I thought you lived city centre. I can get to Center Parcs in 45 mins

Galmum · 09/05/2007 19:17

Mum & Dad still live in Bramcote, outskirts of Nottingham. My brother & family live in East Bridgeford.
