Hi shop

TheShopaholic · 08/05/2007 22:17

Feeling sorry for myself this evening as had a mole cut out of my leg this afternoon and the anaesthetic is now wearing off and it's starting to tingle. Had to laugh when the injection went in and I cringed like mad, it's not that long since i've given birth and that was miles more painful.

So has everyone started weaning already? I really want to try to get to 6 months solely BFing. It's really hard as I think that S would sleep all night if she had some more grub during the day but then again there's no guarantee if that would be the case .

hattie2 · 08/05/2007 23:08

Ouch Shop, that sounds painful - I recommend a large glass of wine!

Good idea LL, a shopping trip is needed i think!

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 08:15

Ha! First on the thread this morning I see.
I went to pilates last night, and DJ threw a major wobbler. DP ended up meeting me after my class with LO in the buggy. It was pouring with rain and DP was just in a t-shirt as he had run out quickly. LO was totally asleep (of course!) I felt so bad for him. When we got back, LO stayed awake for another hour chuntering to himself and his fluffy dog in his cot.
I dont understand. He should have been knackered from rolling over onto his tummy all day long. Weird.

laughalot · 09/05/2007 08:20

Well I have had the night from hell yet again I do wish I could wake up in a morning log and here and say guess what she slept through but its not happening. She seems like she is full of wind all the time I spent at least 45 min last night after her bottle winding her she let out a few burps and seemed fine put her down she dropped off ok just got into bed at 11 and she starts screaming the place down . I managed to settle her again by giving her some water which made her burp she went through till 3 and that was it then my life was hell I have tried putting her in a grobag just putting her down with a blanket over her, swaddling her leaving a night light on , no night light im sure its wind iv tried gripe water and infacol any ideas anyone ? It is so much harder when you have a toddler aswell because I cant catch up on any sleep in the daytime. Sorry to moan its all I seem to ever do these days.

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 08:24

You poor thing.
I guess you could try just really wearing her out during the day so she is totally knackered. But then you risk going into scarey overtired territory.
Does your toddler have any naps which co-incide with the baby's? Is there anyway you can get a power nap in during the day at all?
I feed LO at 6am then DP takes him at 6.30am and plays with him/watches tv with him (!) until he leaves for work about 7.45am, so I get an extra hour or so in bed.
Is that a possibility? x

laughalot · 09/05/2007 08:28

To cheer myself up im going to make some nom nom brownies .

Lizz I really think she is like it because of the wind she dosent actually go down untill 8 oclock so she is plenty tired enough she just ends up waking up and her tummy must be hurting her. My dh does wake up at 7 and has her for a hour untill he leaves but im just constantly shatteredbecause this is happening night after night.

ellieandhattie · 09/05/2007 08:29

LAL have you tried colief (sp?) its fairly expensive (£10) and you have to make a bottle at a tme but I have friends that swear by it ot the other alternative is to try her with cranial osteopathy (sp) as they can often find undiagnosed things.

Did you get the brownie receipe I emailed it last night? They are nom nom DH ate 2 last night and tken 2 to work today and my brother, his girlfriends and her little boy coming for lunch so I suppose I'd better offer them one whilst they are here I think I'll be doing another batch by the end of the week

Good noght here Ellie went to bed at 6.30 and slept till 6.30 Hattie went up at 7 but when the police rang the bell at 7.15 it woke her up so didnt settle till 8 but then slept till 7. I have booked them into local photo studio at 10that do venture style photograpy but a damn sight cheaper and think my brother is coming along and bringing his girlfriends little boy (hes 15 months) so he can have a photo of all of them together

RGee · 09/05/2007 08:46

Morning all.
LL - what a sh!tty night, you poor thing. Had she eaten anything new yesterday that maybe made her windy? Agree with Lizz that if DH could take over for an hour at some stage to at least try and help you regain some sanity. And the reason you don't have any time to play is you've got a toddler to run after as well!

Lizz - your posts always make me pmsl. Whilst I have lots of sympathy for you during your pilates class, the phrase 'he should have been knackered from rolling on to his tummy all day' had me rofl

Shop - how's your leg this morning? Hope it's not painful.

PCF - hope you had a good day yesterday. What did you do in the end?

Hattie - I can't believe it's a mere 2 weeks until you go back to work .
EAH - do I remember rightly - are you going back to work in June too?

Glad it was quite chatty on here last night cos I was thinking things were tailing off a bit and it was making me . Some people have disappeared (Nemo you've gone quiet - you still writing a report about your weekend away?; Jodie where are you?; LTH - come back to this thread and we will admire your photos of DS4 some more ), and what will happen when some of us go back to work? Where have the last few months gone?

Anyway, now I can stop personals and tell you about myself. In a light change from routine today, Vinorouge is coming over and we shall head out (no doubt in the rain) to the park, swap notes of dd's, and mostly gossip about you all . Have a fun day!

RGee · 09/05/2007 08:47

EAH / LL took me so long to write my epic Xposted.

ellieandhattie · 09/05/2007 08:50

tell vin to post on here

back to work 26th june but i have got 5.5 weeks holiday to take before december so won't be to bad and its only 2 days a week thankfully

Galmum · 09/05/2007 08:54

LAL - hugs you must be exhausted - any friends or family that can take toddler in day to give you occasional breaks??

I have also heard that colief is good - a mw recommended it to me after LO was born - just in case I had problems - never used it as I'm bf and LO still won't drink from a bottle, but she said it worked miracles for her. Have you tried baby massage/cranial oestopath?? Another one is fennel seeds used to make up a tea - or maybe that is for constipation - can't remember!!

I reckon room dark is the best option - they are too little to be afraid of the dark. We go for pitch black now after LO slept like a dream down at our friends in Cornwall - out in the sticks it was so dark, so we've stuck with that ever since.

What is this with all the exercising??? Pilates, stomach exercises, spinning?? Feeling like my pushing the pram is not going to be enough - lost 17lbs since LO born but have stagnated and I need to shift atleast another stone - have started stomach exercises yesterday - 3 times a day doing a few sit ups. Maybe it's time to get my fat arse down to the pool but that means a ladygarden trim !!

UD - where is the bf picnic thing - would it be okay if I'm came along???

Mrs Carrot - how do I see these wedding photos??

Galmum · 09/05/2007 08:56

EAH - forgot to say - maybe this lad needs to get in trouble before it's too late - nees to learn that saying sorry sometimes just is n't enough. See what his Mum says, but maybe he needs outside help.

laughalot · 09/05/2007 09:00

Galmum click on mrs carrots name and you will see her profile go to bottom off the page and it will say mrs carrots pictures .

Off in a minute to get some colief and some chocalate to make brownies

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 09:00

Galmum - pilates isnt exercise! Don't be daft! Its lying on the floor and deep breathing and lifting your fanny muscles. Its fab! Coz its exercise for lazy people. I love it.
Men can do it too, I didnt know this but apparently they have PF muscles too. Who knew!?
If they can 'lift their crown jewels' (not with their hands) then they are using their pelvic floor muscles.

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 09:06

LaL - you were asking ages ago for the flapjack recipie I use - its really not that healthy at all - I am just kidding myself! But here you go:
8oz hard margarine
7oz soft brown sugar
5oz self raising flour (brown or white)
6oz oats
3 teaspoons of cinnamon

Melt marg & sugar
Add everything else
Stir well
Put into a well greased baking tray tin
190 degrees/Reg 4 for about 25 - 30 mins.
Done.
Leave for 20 mins or so to cool then turn out and chop up into about 4 pieces...or if you are more refined, about a dozen pieces! (oink)

I add lots of dried fruit to mine, apricots, cranberries etc. And also bung some sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds to make it a bit more healthy. Or dip it in chocolate when its cooled down. Or add chocolate chips to the mixture (or M&Ms)
My Mum puts a layer of raw apple in the middle too which is nice.
Enjoy! x

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 09:07

RGee - I'm not going back to work properly for years. Only on Saturdays from about June onwards, so you are stuck with me! I'll be here, chuntering away to myself like this for years yet...
chunter...

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 09:08

...chunter...

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2007 09:08

...chunter...

Wilkie · 09/05/2007 09:09

WOW! Lots of chat girls.

LAL - what formula are you using? Also, I second the cranial osteopath

EAH - you are defo doing the right thing but I would also defo press charges. My sis is a PC and says its a nightmare with these youngsters who's parent don't give a sh*t. However, his seem to care and will prob go for the shock tactic.

Sorry - no time for more personals as just nipping out to take J to my work to show him off.

BTW - does anyone have one of the Pixiphoto vouchers that came in the bounty pack?? I have lost mine and really want to go and have some photos done. If you have one and aren't using it please could I have it??? Purhlease xxxxxxxxx

Back later

Morning everyone, just back from the school run, shoved some toast down my throat and now off to mums and tots!

Lizz - that flapjack recipe looks really easy to do! I might get the ingredients this afternoon and do it with the kids. pmsl at description of pilates (sure my gym doesn't describe it like that!)

Galmum - know what you mean about stagnating with the weight. I lost a stone and can't shift any more (although keep sneaking in odd treats when I'm bored!). Think I need to join weightwatchers and suffer the humiliation of paying a huge amount of money to be told you've not lost weight/gained that week!

EAH - sorry your not looking forward to going back to work. I can't wait but can't realistically afford to go back before september as childcare would cost more than I'm earning! I only work 2 days a week too

RGee - I thought it was quiet on here too or maybe I'm looking at the wrong times (if dh is home it drives him mad if I'm sat on my laptop yet he thinks it's ok to sit in his corner looking at shite!). Have fun in the park today!

LAL - I'm afraid I've no real suggestions for you but sending you a hug and hope it gets better soon

Right I'm off now as I've made myself late by typing here!

canmummy · 09/05/2007 09:34

Oh and hi pcf! Glad you had a good birthday do n't worry about the points! My best friend came round last year on my birthday with something for me - I was so excited - and it was some leftover lampshades etc for dd2 after they'd finished decorating! Didn't quite know what to say and never told her she'd missed my birthday (she could never remember anything anyway!)

Dragonhart · 09/05/2007 09:59

Sorry not got time to catch up at the mo but...

...THE CLIMBING FRAME IS HERE!

It is massive. It will take up our whole garden!

Galmum · 09/05/2007 11:44

Yipee for the climbing frame - do you have planning permission??!!

Mrs Carrot - you look amazing - I did n't look that good before I children

Glad to hear you had a good bday PCF.

Thinking about WW too, but do I need to pay money to be told to stop eating so much - so far today before lunch!

bowl of bran flakes + sultanas
bagel & cream cheese(light!)
2 slices of malted fruit loaf
1 pear

Oh dear - bf gives me an appetite like a horse - off to do some hoovering to burn some calories!!
