I was brave and started a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Elibean · 23/05/2007 19:32

I resorted to a glycerine suppository once, dd didn't notice it, smiled hugely, then pooed within minutes and was in great spirits. I'd been agonizing over whether it was too drastic etc, but she was just relieved

Lucy (sorry, bad night, cant remember new name!) good to see you; poor ds tho, ouch. I'm glad your sil is coping, and am with you - its hard to imagine how. Wishing her well.

Anyone else had awful hayfever today? Sniff.

Elibean · 23/05/2007 19:35

Indith, if you do use one, make sure its the baby variety! Or, try more juice..I used to give dd1 home-made prune juice (soak a few prunes in boiling water, strain, should be light brown juice) in a bottle, about 20-40 mls at a time, and she was only a few weeks old. It did help, and wasn't too drastic.

I do recommend the supps though, if he's really suffering and, um, stuck

Indith · 24/05/2007 13:34

Poooooooo! Not a huge explosion but a good nappy full, suppository tip noted for future reference. Ds also slept from 7-5.45 then til 7.45 after a feed. Having had all this sleep and poo he is the most relaxed and happy baby in the world today. Nap might be good though he's starting to fuss....

There drowsy baby in cot.

Was just telling my cousin who has a 9 week old that it is true that throwing up all the time (especially in the silly hours of the morning) does settle down when ds did a nice little projectile that landed between my legs. Mmmm nice warm wet crotch.......

SachaF · 24/05/2007 13:35

Indith, any poo yet? Ds is (yet again) copying your ds and is on day 3 after being a regular daily boy. Doesn't seem to affect him too much though.
Amapolean, sounds unusual about the eye. Have you had feedback from the paed yet? Interesting to know what it was/is.
Unchief, has your own doc had any further ideas yet? Have you had the chest xray yet?

SachaF · 24/05/2007 14:49

x-posts!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 25/05/2007 12:55

Indith - we had the same kind of nappy situation in the margo household

OP posts:
Indith · 25/05/2007 14:50

I've finished exams!

Oh dear Ds is obviously a bad influence on people. Hoping for poo all round. Possibly goign to give more prune to ds too as he has only had the one poo so not exactly cleared out

Where is my gin?

Elibean · 25/05/2007 19:31

Double congrats, Indith! Poo AND exams over? Imagine that gin bottle is in for a bashing

Seriously, congrats on completing the exams - thats no mean feat even without a LO, am v impressed. You deserve to celebrate.

accessorizewithbabysick · 25/05/2007 19:50

Yay on both counts, Indith. Indith, where are you....How much prune juice did he need? Think ds2's hideously bad temper today (screamed everytime i put him down) down to poo.

Indith · 25/05/2007 19:52

Hmm celebrate....well I have cider.....is it sad that my celebration seems to involve cider and MN? Actually dp bought me flowers and we had a lovely dinner. He finishes Wed so we will go out then. I told him he could go out on the lash after a meal and I'd take ds home. and a little bit . Daft really as I know that I could go out after 7 and not be needed again til around 3am but I can't ever imagine doing it, and certainly not both of us going out and leaving ds!

Indith · 25/05/2007 19:53

Erm AQ about 1oz at lunch-ish then again before bed and he went in the morning.

accessorizewithbabysick · 25/05/2007 20:09

Thanks, Indith, must buy some in the morning Might make some of my own as the big jar of it we got for ds1 just went to waste, he hardly needs it anyway. I have one baby that seems to be screaming constantly because of poo and another child that poos all d*mn day (I changed 7 pairs of pants today, that's fewer nappies than ds1 uses!). Still, they're so absolutely gorgeous, every smile just seems like a ray of sunshine some days.

Enjoy the cider

jabberwocky · 25/05/2007 22:18

Hi everyone, sorry to be absent so long. Indith, I was afraid today we were inheriting your poo problem as he didn't go yesterday at all. Thankfully, a little explosion before afternoon nap
Congrats on finishing exams!

eli - glycerin suppositories worked beautifully on ds1 at this age - must remember that if we have a need.

lucy - not sure what to say about lo's eyes but a little expressed bm can't hurt.

Ds2 turned 6 months on Tuesday and so has had his first try at baby rice on Wed and last night. He seems to be taking to it rather well. No luck really with the whole pear/blw scenario so maybe next week with that.

AQ - We're still struggling as well with ds1 on the potty training. One step forward and two steps back

Where's milkshake???

LittleMissLate · 26/05/2007 10:34

Had some interesting vomiting last night - gave mashed avocado with yoghurt for tea and it wasn't as smooth as normal - dd gagged slightly towards the end then brought the whole lot up . Have learnt lesson - will puree properly next time and leave lumpier textures for a few weeks. Bizarrely having fed as normal when she went to bed she also brought up her whole 4am bf - think she just took too much milk as she fed for longer than normal. I was up for over an hour getting both of us changed and her settled back down again. Both times she was sick she was not perturbed in the slightest - smiling away afterwards and happy to feed a bit more! Has had breakfast and milk as normal this morning so hopefully just one-offs...

A question for the Londoners. I have a wedding to go to in Peckham in July, there will be a good group of us going and we were looking for somewhere as cheap as possible, trouble is there are a gazzilion Travel Lodges etc in London and I don't have a clue as to which ones are in the right sort of area and which are the wrong side of London! Anyone care to help? Which bits of London shall I look in?

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 26/05/2007 21:22

Peckham's about 1/2 hour away from me and LaBoheme (although I would put another 1/2 for daytime traffic)

What choices of Travelodge have you got?

OP posts:
MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 26/05/2007 21:23

Indith - Southeast london btw - deptford, Greenwich, Old Kent Road and the Eephant would all be close - further out is Lewisham

OP posts:
Indith · 27/05/2007 11:37

Hmm I have Liverpool Street, Farringdon, Covent Garden, Kings Cross, Marylebone, Docklands, Battersea, City Airport, Ilford, Park Royal, Wembley, and Kew Bridge.

So....a few of those are sort of up and along the other side if the river...Covent Garden, London City, Liverpool Street is that right?

Hmm doesn't look too bad!

My dealings with London are aweekend with parents when I was10 and a fair amount of time at Heathrow!

Indith · 27/05/2007 11:42

Oh ouch! I thought Travel Lodge was supposed to be cheap! Over £70 for a double!

Right where is the YHA site...

babypowder · 27/05/2007 14:09

Hola, everyone! We got back from Denia last night (2 am - ouch!), and I'm trying desperately to catch up with the comings, goings and pooings on here. What a lot you've all been up to! Poor old DD2 came down with a rotten cold while we were away, but she's been good as gold. DD1 made friends with a load of kids in the square we were staying in, despite the fact that she speaks only 3 words of Spanish!

Annapoleon - EBM works wonders for bad eyes. I know of some (Eli? Can't remember) who wipe it on with a bit of cotton, but I just squirted it straight in. Worked a treat.

Congratulations on finishing your exams, Indith [happy]

I'm still holding off on the weaning too. Mostly through laziness, TBH, but DD2 is only 5 months, so I feel no guilt whatsoever. Really do want to do BLW tis time as well.

Going to read the rest of the posts now.

babypowder · 27/05/2007 14:10

obviously meant , not [happy] Dopy brain today

Bectheneck · 27/05/2007 14:27

Hey Indith have you tried looking at Universities for accommodation? They are available in the summer apparently. I have never used them and I don't know if there are any near where you need to be but it's something to look into I suppose.

www.londonnet.co.uk/ln/guide/accomm/budget_student.html

Towards the bottom of the page is a list of Unis and colleges with accommodation.

Amapoleon · 27/05/2007 14:40

Just a quick poo tip. If you are breasrfeeding up your intake of oraange juice, works wonders with ds.

Indith · 27/05/2007 15:46

Cheers Bec. We've booked into a YHA now, not too badly priced.

indeed BP. Something tells me that I no longer have an excuse to put off tackling the mound of stuff on my floor now though.....

Ama I think I'd turn orange if I drank more juice than I do. Ds back on prune water until he gets regular again. Had another poo but still nothing huge and his farts stink to high heaven!

Went to a nearly new sale today just to see what they were about and maybe get a high chair or stairgate as they will be next in the big purchases line. Woe betide anyone who comes between a geordie woman and her bargin! Barely made it out alive! Didn't get anything. There were mounds of clothes, toys, a few bouncy chairs and that was about it. The extent of cloth nappies seemed to be 2 tots wraps. Amazed me how rude people get at these things though! Pushing and shoving even though everyone there either had a baby or a huge bump and they were all filling bin liners with mounds of toys and stuff. How many cloth books and cot toys does one small baby need?

magnolia1 · 27/05/2007 15:58

Afternnon ladies
Congratulations on finishing you Exams Indith xxxxx

Ds1 has a cold high temp, really sleepy and just miserable. Lots of calpol daytime and medised at night bless him.

I went out last night!!!!!!!! Left the house a 7.30pm and got home at 2.30am
Spent the first 3 hours checking my phone though
Had enough alcohol to make me tipsy but not too much coz of b/f.
Had a real good boogie on the dancefloor but felt bloody old compared to the 18 year olds
And the best bit was wearing a normal bra
