Cocobabe - I give dd a dreamfeed about 10.30 when I go to bed. She doesn't wake up properly as I have a chair right next to her cot, boobs out ready to go and don't change her nappy. She feeds in her sleep and when she is finished I just put her straight back in her cot. I'm just having one night time feed most nights about 3.30 am (although last night was 1am and 5am as I had a long drive home from my parents in the evening and she was a bit unsettled ).

SachaF · 21/05/2007 10:51

If I'm still awake at 10.30 I dream (well wake him up fully) feed, which then hopefully means only one more feeding in the night about 4 1/2 hrs later. Then he is really hungry at 6-7am. If I want extra sleep I go to bed by half 9 then I have 2 night feeds to do - last night 12.30 and 5am (took a while to resettle with birds chirping away outside) - but he was still really hungry for a feed at 7.30 this morning, then again at 9.15, and he's hungry again now....best go make a cup of tea then feed him!
Come back sunshine, don't you know it's nappy washing day?

Cocobabe · 21/05/2007 11:37

misslate - do you still wind her before putting back to cot ? sometimes in sleep daze i forget to wind him before putting back to cot , then when he wakes up next time he throws up alittle over me when i get him out of cot !

magnolia1 · 21/05/2007 12:37

I tried dream feeding but it made no difference But I found quite by accident that he will sleep for 4-5hrs if on his tummy!!!!! So dh says put him on his tummy but I can't help but worry. He can just about roll back onto his back but only when downstairs on the floor.
So do I wait till he learns to roll properly? If he goes on his back/side he goes at 8.30pm-9pm wakes at 11 then at 3 then at 5-6am!! If on his tummy he goes 8/9pm till 3am then 6am

He is getting hungrier by the day. Still b/f every 2-3hrs and 2 solid meals. I don't really want to go to 3 as we only stared because of reflux and it's helping loads but he is still only just 6 months.

Oh you would think being my 5th I would find all this stuff easy

GlassSlipper · 21/05/2007 12:51

hi guys.

well done to all of you waiting for 6 months to wean. I started at 5 and she is now on 3 meals a day. She shouts at me if I am too slow and tries to steal chips from my plate. lol. Since then she has been slpeeing through and her breastfeeds are every 2 3/4 - 3 hours rather than every 90 mins. I genuinely think she was just a hungry baby.
However if your baby is content then dont rush it.

mag - not sure what i'd do about tummy sleeping. logic says go with it but the back to sleep campaign has been quite a forceful one. Id be interested in opinions.

castlesintheair · 21/05/2007 13:13

Magnolia, can you make sure DS's head is turned to the side? I know we are meant to put them on their backs but if he sleeps better on his tummy at 6 months isn't that ok? FWIW, DD2 slept on her tummy from 4 weeks (her choice not mine)!

DD2 on 3 'meals' a day now. She doesn't throw up as much but still whines/cries unless held or on front/crawling when awake. I'll be so pleased when she grows out of the gastric reflux. I can't believe I've been through this twice now.

magnolia1 · 21/05/2007 14:42

It only happened coz he was in a deep sleep and when I put him down I kind of flipped him over by mistake but then didn't want to flip him back in case he woke
So if he is awake I have to put him on his back otherwise he screams, if he's asleep I pop him on his tummy but only till he wakes then he goes back on his back.

jabberwocky · 21/05/2007 16:30

I put ds2 down on his side lots of times. He seems to settle easier but then rolls to his back eventually most times.

Indith · 21/05/2007 19:43

Well that wasn't so bad!

You know that prune juice thing? Well prune water anyway. How much do you give them? Not had a poo here for 4 days and his feeding is getting all fussy.

accessorizewithbabysick · 21/05/2007 20:02

Dunno, Indith, sorry. I think I stuck some in a bottle (know I should find a soft spouty cup or something, the garage is impenetrable at the mo') and he had a few sucks. Did work really well but 4 days not so bad, they say after a week worry! DS1 goes regularly for 3-4 days without. Hope the sleep vibes come back. Maybe it's cos he needs a poo! Longer bath? Always helps ds1, he poos in the bath all the time, urggggh.

Got enormous carrot-studded explosion today. That's another good reason to leave off solids for a few more weeks, but I guess I've started today. He was so horribly grumpy today that I didn't bother tho.

Indith · 21/05/2007 20:11

Yeah Ds is pretty good at pooing in the bath too but not at the moment! He has done 2/3 days before but it is starting to bug him now, keep getting the grunts that usually preceed a splat but nothing comes out. Farts stink to high heaven too! Ah well if I don't get any poo tomorrow I'll stick some prune water in his cup and see if any goes in. He knows what to do with a cup, get really excited about having milk in it but not quite understood that he can actually swallow what goes into his mouth!

unchief - sorry things are tough. Hopefully the new ab's will work. My DD1 was born small (5lb12oz) and distressed. The first thing the SCBU doctor asked me was had I smoked during pregnancy. I never had and was terribly upset but then I guess it is a question they have to ask, they just dont seem to be able to do it tactfully

Healthy vibes coming your way.

My DD2 is full of cold which is affecting her sleeping & eating

DD1 went through the night with no pullups on and no wet bed so I am very proud mummy today.

SachaF · 22/05/2007 10:50

grr, just typed a long post but wasn't logged on so have lost it!
I put ds on front on change mat b4 bsth - works the poo out of his bottom (I wrote it in a much nicer way earlier!)
then I wrote about solids being a major growing up point and I want ds to still be a baby but was not thinking nice motherly bonding thoughts at 2am this morning as he was feeding

SachaF · 22/05/2007 10:51

Unchief hope things get better.

Day 5 in the poo free house. He has been pretty grizzly. Spent Bumps and Babies grumpy as usual (they must think he never smiles he is always in a foul mood there!), got home, dumped him on the rug and he grinned and gurgled and played happily. Wretched thing. Anyway his feeding has been pretty off again and he is ain general not a very happy chappy. To add to his discomfort he had his 3rd set of jabs! He has gone to bed in a calpol filled haze after crying himself to sleep on my chest

Hope for poo tom, had a couple of skidmarks....He has had lots of tummy massage, leg cycling and possible a bit of water...not sure if he actually swallowed any of it!

Elibean · 23/05/2007 10:49

unchief bronchiolitis can leave nasty coughs for ages, but also can leave kids with 'weak chests' for a while...ie prone to other infections. I think getting a referral to paeds is what I'd try for - especially if GP unsympathetic Mine was lucky not to cough much since her (very bad time with) bronchiolitis, but my friend's ds has had several chest infections and a cough since - all cleared up now, six months later, I'm glad to say. Hugs to you, and get well soon to your LO.

Indith, poo vibes (we have plenty - said cautiously, remembering what happened to those who sent all their sleep vibes away ) to your house. Well, to ds, anyway.

Sorry to be a bit awol - its been full on action here, not sure why, just dd1's social life getting busier (am glad) and dd2's blotches not getting better (have ditched nasty ABs though, and HV was nice and supportive - back to GP tomorrow though as Fucidin not doing the job, and I'm wondering if the initial diagnosis was wrong ).

Hope everyone is enjoying the weather - dh is on a mission to get aircon into our bedrooms this year, whilst I am holding out for ceiling fans: any thoughts?! Think we'd be lucky to have either, tbh, not got quotes yet but suspect pricey either way!

Cocobabe · 23/05/2007 11:25

Unchief- hows your lo today ? {{get well vibes}} to you x since my ds has bronchiolitis, his cough took a while to disappear , but occassionally he coughs now & then , doc at hosp gave us some info and it did say that they would be prone to cough/chest infections for a while

Eilbean - these blotches youre lo getting - are they on face and look inflamed ? my ds had blotches on his cheeks/chin ages ago and i didnt know what it was and spoke with my HV , she thought it might be some sort of skin sensitivity and prescribed Diprobase cream - it did the trick !, his blotches cleared uo within a few days .

Ive had aliitle cold and seems ds has caught it off me - poor little boy ..frustrating when you have a cold and you try your best not to pass it on but it still happens - grr ! C'est la vie ...

Amapoleon · 23/05/2007 11:32

Hola, just to let you know I have changed my name.

Eli, I have been using oilatum in the bath with ds as he has patches of possibley eczema [sp] really helped.

I had a weird thing happen today, ds suddenly started screaming, his eyes went bloodshot and he wouldn't open them for about half an hour. I panicked and by the time the stupid dr arrived he had opened them. One still very bloodshot but no pus or anything. dr said conjunctivitus but I know that it isn't so will take him to paed later. He screamed for an hour yesterday and has had exploding nappies. I thought it was teeth, he has 2 now! Anyay he has been asleep for 3 hours now,so something defo isn't right.

Just to let you know that my sil is doing ok after her stilbirth but how you would ever come to terms with that I don't know.

Any way, crossing fingers for poo for indith and hope unichief's lo gets better soon. Will now go and read rest of threaad and see what else has been hapening. Adios!

unchief - medised

it helps dry up a runny nose and makes them a bit sleepy in addition to the pain relief from the paracetemol.

Indith · 23/05/2007 16:03

No still no poo More tummy massage, has had prune water today too (using the syringe from the calpol) and will prob give more in a minute (currently feeding) After screaming at me for a bit he decided he rather liked it and complained when I stopped. Any other ideas?
