Car seats. What are you all buying ?

And will you still be rear faving

I'm like ianchor - tilt - 360 spin

Going to see if they suit and fit our car hopefully this weekend

NameChange30 · 20/10/2017 18:47

Blondes
Definitely rear facing, it is recommended to rear face until children are 4 years old, because it's 5 times safer than forward facing in a crash.
We bought a new car seat a while ago as DS is huge and our infant seat was one of the smallest ones (wouldn't have bought it if I'd known how big he would be!) We got a Cybex Sirona which is a rotating one and really handy, quite expensive but we got a really good deal on it.
I've heard good things about the Joie seats too.
There is a Facebook group called "Car seat advice for mummies and daddies", terrible name but there is lots of useful advice on there!

I've been using the Huckleberry app! It's really good, really easy to use and it shows you total hours of day and night sleep for each day, and it also works out averages. I did it for a week and filled in the questionnaire so I'm just waiting for them to send my recommendations. Interested to see what they will be.

100yearsdotcom · 20/10/2017 19:52

Ooh I wondered if you'd spotted it name! I'm gonna have a go this weekend on it, is it quite easy to fill in?

blondes we also want to stay rear facing but no idea which to go for so will be interested in what everyone says - have also heard good things about joie.

Carolann8584 · 20/10/2017 19:53

DD definitely struggled with teething today. Doesn't normally cry but today was very clingy and she cried when I was out of sight, she wanted a bit more formula today but cried after a couple of tries of the teat so got out the teething gel then she was fine for a bit.

In other news she does like my cooking Grin she had pasta bolognese for her tea, she originally had 3 pots on the freezer, this was the last one. I gave it another go with the blender and she had it all

We havent looked at a new car seat yet, she still has quite a bit of room. Having said that she's not in her winter coat yet so might have to have a look, will definitely be looking at rear facing. I mistakenly found a video of a crash with forward facing and it shown what happens internally to the child 🙈

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2017 20:18

The 3 I mention are all joie and rear and also go forward

coupester · 20/10/2017 20:34

DS has been very upset today, every time I laid him down, whether in his cot, on his change mat or on his play mat, he would cry. He ate fine, took all his milk, enjoyed his porridge and ate all of his blended cabbage, but just hasn't been his usual happy self Sad

Car seats - we have the maxi cosi pebble plus at the moment, will upgrade to the next one (2way pearl I think) which is supposed to last until 4 years old and does front and rear facing.

Carolann8584 · 20/10/2017 20:36

DD very unsettled tonight. She hasn't had a poo today so I think she's uncomfortable. Just helped her onto her belly, it helped last time

LOL yes it popped up on my FB feed a couple of weeks ago so I thought I'd give it a go! I was amazed at the coincidence when Baby Sleep Science (which I really rate as you know) announced they have teamed up with them!
It's really easy to fill in, there is a timer so you can just hit "start" and "stop" when baby falls asleep and wakes up, or you can set the times manually. There is the option to add extra info which doesn't take long as you just tap the icons.
I have been using a different app to track everything but this is definitely better for sleep. The other app I am using doesn't have the option to track medication which is a bit annoying given how much pain relief we've given for teething lately! So I'm thinking of switching to a different one. I do find it useful to track nappy changes as well as I forget otherwise and the damn nappies leak!

Carol and Coupester Sorry your babies have been unsettled today. DS has been upset as well but I wasn't sure if it was teething, he didn't seem to have the usual signs. Had to give him paracetamol anyway because he hadn't had milk for several hours and was crying every time he latched on.

Happy weekend everyone, what are your plans? For once DH and I have nothing planned so I am hoping for a bit of rest and to get a few little jobs done. DS has been sleeping a bit better but I didn't sleep well at all last night (typical) and I'm soo tired today...

purpleviolet1 · 20/10/2017 22:03

Hi all,

Will catch up later properly but just wanted to ask - Hugh what you cars are chewable??

coupester · 20/10/2017 23:16

Just woke DS for his last bottle. He's leaked for some reason so have had to strip him and the bed, only have one 1.5 tog sleep bag so have had to put him in a sleep suit and blanket. He screamed so much, it broke my heart SadSad

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2017 23:29

They all seem under the weather and unhappy these last few days :(

I'm a huge lover of maxi and pearl is also on the list

Think will see which one fits in car best

Tho have stupid storage on the floor which can cause wmleobkem with isofix

Why make a family car and state it has isofix yet having bloody storage on floor causes problems with fitting isofix 😡😡😡😡😡😡

Will report back tomorrow

Again dd has barely eaten tho had a little tea but toeellt refused bedtime bottle - as she did the other night :( but she did still sleep solidly through so fingeee crossed again tonight she does

She must be hungry .......

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2017 23:30

@coup. Awwww think dd would be the same. She loves her gro bag and settles well in it

Have you looked on local fb groups or asked on local town sites if on them. Sure someone will have a 1,5tog for a few pounds

Carolann8584 · 21/10/2017 02:06

Weird night for DD, very unsettled. I thought she had finally done her poo but after a quick peek she didn't. Woke for a feed at 9:30 3oz ! And then again at 1:30 4oz

RunAmok · 21/10/2017 02:32

Hello ladies, do you mind if I join?

My little one is nearly seven months and turned up a bit earlier than expected!

It’s been hard work the past few months but every now and then she sleeps well at night and I wake up feeling a bit more human!

I think her teeth are nearly arriving because she keeps waking up at night crying.

Sometimes she naps during the day sometimes she doesn’t and it is normally only on me.

I am probably doing everything wrong including feeding schedules! I have tried to stretch to three hours but it makes no difference to when she wakes up and in the morning at least she wants feeding every two hours.

Solids has been a pretty disappointing experience so far but I keep trying in different ways. Banana in a mesh feeder worked well. Most of the time things are flung around! Sippy cup is a very exciting toy.

But I am very thankful to be a mummy, it really is a wonderful blessing and makes me appreciate my family (I am currently living abroad) and husband.

Carolann8584 · 21/10/2017 04:38

DD up again 😴

Welcome runamok

Carolann8584 · 21/10/2017 07:11

Feel like we had a "newbirn" night, every 2 hours or so DD was up, then she decided 6:30 was morning she didn't cry just babbled very loud until I went to get her then flashed me that smile.......😍

troodiedoo · 21/10/2017 07:22

Hello and welcome @RunAmok Smile

We've had a funny few days, sleeping, not sleeping, eating, not eating, refusing boob...
I feel tiredness like in the newborn days! Putting down to teeth but none poking through yet Hmm
I do like the look of the joie rear facing one. Will be trying some out before we buy. I have an iso fix Base in the garage that's never been used as it doesn't fit Hmm

coupester · 21/10/2017 14:23

Welcome @RunAmok Smile

I have a very clingy man again today. Every time I try to put him down there are tears. Don’t know what to do - I can’t cuddle him all day! Have managed to put him down long enough to shower. He’s had two naps so far, one was only about 10/15mins, the other one was short too.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/10/2017 18:08

welcome @run

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/10/2017 18:08

also have a clingy dd, th has eaten a small amount today

Carolann8584 · 21/10/2017 18:28

DD still as congested. Has been for days now dispite all am doing to clear her sinuses. She has done better with her formula today though just over 21oz with a DF to do later. Her teething has affect her solids fir the first time she's had half portions today.

Had naps early today but was back to her usual 2 hours this afternoon even with the distraction of my DSC

Carolann8584 · 21/10/2017 19:51

Looks like we are on for a repeat of last night. DD has woken 3 times since 6:30. She had 7oz at 6:15 so don't think she's hungry. Gave her Nurofen and teething granules as well

Welcome rum!

Thanks for that Hugh.

Sorry to hear still congested carol, ds took about 3 weeks clearing up Sad

Blondes, coupester, troodie we have been the same up and down but I think tonight is going to be a bad night. Gave him nurofen at midnight and he is trying hard to settle but keeps crying 😢

Hope everyone else is ok.
