Oh we had fancy dress at our baby sensory class. SIL gave DD a vest with a tutu and she hasn't had chance to wear it. Now she has. Our lovely little ballerina

Aww carol she looks gorgeous! Sorry she's still poorly, I hope the congestion goes soon so that she can drink her bottles!

Blondes I'm sorry to hear DD is poorly, sounds like it probably is teeth, hope they pop through soon.

Purple - I'm going back in Jan, I'm hoping to use a few more KIT days before I go back properly, mostly to get me used to the routine again and it will help me work out timings. My flexible working meeting was scheduled for today but I couldn't make it so they suggested doing it while I was there on Tuesday. I mostly spent the day trying to clear my nearly 2000 emails and trying to get all my accounts unfrozen!

Also, I'm glad your mum is doing ok.

Name I hope the teeth come through soon! DS cries out in his sleep sometimes and I think that's probably down to his teeth but doesn't tend to wake properly, thankfully.

These teeth are little buggers, aren't they?!

We moved dinner forward this evening and it seemed to go better than the last two nights. He does this thing where he leans over his table, putting his head on his chest and I'm not sure whether he's falling asleep or trying to hoover up the bits he's dropped on his bib or something else!

Carolann8584 · 18/10/2017 20:53

coupe just had a right good giggle imagining your DS trying to go over his bib 🤣

Carolann8584 · 18/10/2017 21:11
  • hoover his bib
purpleviolet1 · 18/10/2017 22:04

@coupester that made me giggle too!

Ds also cries out in his sleep but sometimes resettles without waking fully.

@NameChange30 thanks for that info! I really should get in touch with work.. think you are ‘meant to’ at the 6 month mark oops.

@Blondeshavemorefun poor dd sounds unlike her.

@Carolann8584 that pic is adorable! She is a real cutie!

@HughLauriesStubble it’s terrible isn’t it how ridiculous childcare is in comparison to other living costs, makes me real mad that people who want to work sometimes can’t. Good decision putting your second in preschool, you do so well with all 3 I’m amazed! What do you do working from home (if you don’t mind saying - no offence taken if you do)?

Carolann8584 · 18/10/2017 22:17

Just reread my post. I did feed her when she cried for the feed 😁 didn't send her for her nap hungry 😉

coupester · 18/10/2017 23:22

It is quite funny when he does it, I ought to video it really! He lifts his head back up when I call his name and just looks at me slightly shocked, with food all over his face 😂

Carolann8584 · 18/10/2017 23:45

DD lifts her bib up so she can see it like she wants to see how much mess she made lol x

Abacha · 19/10/2017 01:23

How's everyone doing, thanks for the support. I think I'm just about getting over the choking. I might have to go back to grief counselling as a lot of feelings have resurfaced.

Weaning is going really well. I've been giving them 2 meals ready brek or weetabix in the morning then pureed meals in the evening. In a couple of days, I will introduce finger food for lunch but not cut out milk feed. Just want them getting used to picking things up.

Dd has two teeth showing,it came out last week, ds doesn't have any showing yet.

Talking about work, I'm not back till June next year. I'm back on payroll in March but will be on annual leave from March till June. I will probably go back 4 day compressed hours. My work is really flexible so I can work from home at least 2 days then in the office for the remainder.

Childcare is so expensive isn't it. I need to start looking at nurseries soon

Carolann8584 · 19/10/2017 02:15

abacha glad weaning is going so well, couldn't imagine doing it with 2! You're a trooper Wink

DD refused her DF at 11:30, woke for it at 12:30 and has just gone back to sleep, doesn't usually take that long after a feed to go to sleep. She had the full 5oz so I wonder if I will be up at 4 for her usual feed

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/10/2017 07:25

Well dd slept all night. Just stirring now. Guess she really wasn't hungry yesterday :(

Hope today she will want food x

Sorry you had a bad night @hugh

Agree childcare costs are a lot but try and think of it coming from
Joint salary and not just yours - so not working for nothing iyswim

For the first 3yrs it is hard and feels like earning nothing but keeps the mum in the career they have chosen and then get 15free he's childcare - or does Ireland not get that

Carolann8584 · 19/10/2017 08:16

DD didn't wake at 4 like she normally does, she slept til 6 but a pit her dummy back in and she slept until 5 to 7. Still only had an ounce of her bottle. Going to have some porridge now

NameChange30 · 19/10/2017 09:13

Morning all,

DS only woke up once last night!!! Shock
Well he also woke up at about 8.45pm but I'm not counting that as I was still awake. He only woke me up once at about 2am! I woke up at about 6.20am wondering what happened Grin Might not happen every night or even again any time soon but it was heaven Smile

Blondes
Sorry your DD hasn't been eating much, hope she has more today.

Carol
Cute, that outfit really suits her! I've bought DS a pumpkin onesie for Halloween Grin

Abacha
Sorry the choking incident was so upsetting for you, not surprising really. Have you had any more counselling since the twins were born? If not maybe it would be helpful?? Flowers

Hugh
Sorry you had a bad night - hope you can get some rest today.

I agree that childcare is expensive and I guess it can easily add up to more than a salary if you have more than one child. I do think it can be worth going back to work even if you are only just breaking even, because there are things like NI and pension contributions, as well as future earning potential to consider. But if you'd be making a big financial loss by going back to work I can understand putting it on hold for a while.

I'm taking DS for his first settling in session at nursery today! It's just an hour and I'll stay with him. Feeling a bit nervous but also looking forward to meeting his key worker and seeing how it goes.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/10/2017 09:40

Fab @name ds sleeping better and hope nursery settling in is ok

Dd drank all milk 7oz. Really didn't want porridge - got maybe 2spoons in and most over face so gave up

Checked Mouth. No teeth. Seems happy enough and has gone back to bed as usual 9/10 nap so will see what she is like at lunch

We have a pumpkin outfit for halloweeen. Can't wit x

Abacha · 19/10/2017 10:04

I haven't had counselling yet but I know I need to. I'm second guessing myself a lot and really anxious about little things. I don't want to pass that on to the twins. I hide it well I think because dh, sisters and friends all think I'm doing a great job and my logical self knows that but I'm constantly on edge that something is going to go wrong.

I really cant believe the twins will be 7 months next week. Where has the time gone? They are sleeping at the moment so will try and get some much needed sleep. They are sleeping really well so I can't even blame my tiredness on them.

Anyone served their dc eggs yet?

That’s great news namechange!

@HughLauriesStubble that sounds like a really cool job!

@Abacha your doing really well. Glad things are a bit easier re weaning now.

Ds being very clingy today. Woke at 7.30 and just grumpy. Gave him nurofen and anbesol now. Checked mouth no luck here either.

Having work done in the house so it’s all been stressful with ds, the mess everywhere, confined to bein at home and worrying about dm. The surgery went well but they think there may be lasting damage. Dm was absolutely fine she takes things in her stride but I’ve got butterflies/ anxiety. Probably just a bit overwhelmed and I’ve not slept properly last few nights even though ds has been fine during the night. Typical.

Yesterday he woke at 08;06 Shock first time I let him wake himself. So he never had his morning nap but I had to rush to the supermarket and we were late with lunch and afternoon nap so he didn’t go for his afternoon nap till 1. He did really well though but was very grumpy the last hour as expected.

What do you think about introducing only healthy pure food to LO? Eg proper porridge opposed to breakfast cereals etc. Just interested. I want to give variety

Can anyone recommend any good toys? Ds has the vtech baby walker thing and the activity panel on that comes off. He loves it. He has a small rattle he can easily hold and play with and chew but he isn’t interested in anything else. All too boring

DS won’t nap this morn, been in cot for nearly an hour Hmm could it be because he missed his nap yesterday? Going to pick him up now
