Right ladies this is going to be used as a tip's, questions and answers etc thread for those of us who have had our babies and can't keep up with the chat on the other thread. (my word those ladies can talk)

And of course everyone is welcome to post on here the more advice etc the better.

OP posts:

Bramshott · 24/04/2007 11:07

Hi ladies - this is swift and cheeky - Verbaudet emailed me a 40% off one item offer last week but I seem to have deleted it, and I want to get this for using in the garden as Orla managed to get sunburnt this last weekend . Does anyone else have the code?!?

muminasaggytummy · 24/04/2007 11:23

Hi Ladies

Octo - I forgot totaly to congratulate you on the school appeal (remembered during my 3.30am feed! lol)

SOKL - hi love, poor you and your sore norks....hope it eases soon and I sympathise re DH. Phil had to go in work Friday and yesterday...so much for his time off??!! But it is a new job so I know he doesn't have alot of choice - after all itis them that are missing out isn't it.

Had quite a good night last night, she went down finally at midnight and woke at 3.30, back to bed for 4,30 and then both of us awake at 8am....so I feel quite human!

She fed till 9 - bathed her and she has slept since!!! so I've manged to get a shower and dress James this morning. We are just about to have our first outing as a family - we are going to a soft play centre for James - no doubt I will just sit and watch and feed!!!

Thanks for all suggestions re keeping Robyn awake - the switching boobs is working and changing her in the middle makes a big difference. Plus I make sure she doesn't get too cosy!!

WCL - I had to laugh re the farting thing - honestly the ones that come out of Robyn - I seriously thought they were from Phil!!! She is SO windy!

She had her first bath int he big bath this morning...will post a piccy later on if I get chance...she loved it and amazingly - no tears (from her or me!)
x

Sexonknackeredlegs · 24/04/2007 11:46

WCL, pmsl at the fart counting! Made my day that has!

Just seen my friend/mw and all is well with Katie.

Sad news though is that her dad could be dead by the end of the week. Sorry to post sad news, but I feel at such a loss as to what to do or say. Life is such a bitch.

Sorry ladies, went in to down mode, but I am really happy apart from that. x

octo · 24/04/2007 13:15

thats terrible news

the nurse rang to apologise - said she really upset me and thanked her for calling to apologise but kept it short and made sure didn't make her feel any better!

am trying to organise ds2 4th birthday - in 4 weeks - have booked village hall, bouncy castle and he wants a jungle theme with fancy dress... ebay has loads of party stuff - just need someone to come and do the games and sort a cake!!! yummy Can't decide whether to invite siblings or not - any thoughts??!!

Off to think about jungle games ...

Sexonknackeredlegs · 24/04/2007 13:21

Octo, what date is your ds's birthday then?

octo · 24/04/2007 13:56

27 May

bubblez · 24/04/2007 14:17

Hiya all,

Have decided that I should def make this an internet friendly day.... have been missing out on so much.

pmsl @ the fart counting!!

Sympathies to all with sore norks!

I can't remember who said it but I'm realy interested in the colic massage thing if anyone knows how to do it. It seems that no matter how much I try I can't get the baby's wind up etc.

I have also decided that I'm going to switch to formula now... It just satisfies her for a lot longer and means thaT I can actually do things without her dangling off my norks! DP has made it clear that he is not impressed by my choice though, he is not the one who has to feed her every two hours in the middle of the night and almost constantly all day and look after a three yr old!! ALL praise to those who can do it though, well done!

Octo - there is nothing wrong with the name Ernie, you should of told the nurse where to stick her unwanted opinion.

Oh and thank you MIAST for the compliment the name

BTW - Does anyone know how to get baby poo stains out of the towels? Tianna has shat on nearly all of hers and I can't get the yellow stains out.

bubblez · 24/04/2007 14:23

Octo sorry missed your post- good that you didnt let her feel any better.
Poor you with a bday to plan, I don't know what to say about siblings, all our parties have had mainly family members only therefore there was never a question about siblings coming or not.

It just depends on what you think you will be able to cope with really. Don't over do it etc, you have just had a baby.

SOrry thats not much help.

doghouse · 24/04/2007 15:12

Hi everyone
Finally made it to the PN thread too! Hope everyone OK and not too tired!

Alice is doing well and is a very contented little girl. Feeds every 3 hours or so and sleeps the rest of the time or gurgles away happily. She only seems to cry for good reason which is making these first few weeks much easier for DH and I as nervous first-timers!

Don't get me wrong, we have had our hourly feeding frenzies over a couple of nights which have left me exhausted but I can see a bit of a pattern forming outside of these growth spurts which I hope will continue! Although I know it is early days.

Like someone else said, this thread seems a little quieter than the AN thread which I have to admit I was struggling to keep up with.

Hopefully as we settle down this end I will find more time to come on-line and share this wonderful journey with you all.

LesleyR · 24/04/2007 15:39

Hello everyone

Typing this 1-handed whilst feeding George. Sooo tired today, we had a very disturbed night last night. George wouldn't feed for longer than 10 mins at a time and was very windy and unsettled. Reading thru thread I've picked up some things to try if he's the same tonight. Thanks.

Octo - glad that awful woman apologised. Good on you for not making her feel better.

SOKL - sorry to hear about your friends dad. My friend died 5 days before George was born and I've been flooded with all different kinds of emotions. But mainly I'm getting a lot of joy from my little man.

Going to try for a quick snooze now before ILs arrive at teatime.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 24/04/2007 15:45

Octo, Becky turns 4 on the 23rd May!! I am going for the easy option. A soft play place that lays on food - could not face anything more involved than that. Already having nightmares about the sodding party bags. They are always full of stuff that is useless and bouncy balls that I end up falling over!

Hi to everyone else - sorry but a quick post.

xx

octo · 24/04/2007 16:52

SOKL - tried the soft play tact with him but he wants the jungle party ... am going to get someone to do the entertainment though so just need to do food really and dh is great at that so should be quite straight forward.

With the party bags - I am going to get paper ones off ebay, a jungle pencil, jungle notepad, balloon, choc buttons and piece of cake - I really dislike party bags too!

Must go sort boys dinner out.

Why did I agree dh could play golf ???

mammyjo · 24/04/2007 16:55

Hi all. Very quick hello from me as Ffion has just decided to stir as soon as I start typing! All well here though so happy.

Hope everyone ok, share in everyone elses at the nurse octo. Cheeky cow, how dare she. None of her bloody business what you call your children anyway. And just so echo what others have said, I think Ernie is such a cute name.

1b3, hope your dd gets better soon and things settle down a bit for you. I know you are really busy but would be really grateful if you might email me the baby massage stuff at some point as Ffion is very windy, especially overnight.

Thats it from me for now as Ffion is screaming the place down.

Take care all xxx

nuttygirl · 24/04/2007 19:34

Hi all, hope everyone's ok.

Am starting to feel better since I got iron tablets yesterday (blood test I had done on Friday showed I was v anaemic) but a bit constipated so have now got lactulose sorry if TMI. I have more tablets and stuff than Boots!!!

Erin is really good...not crying much (but when she does it's usually between 10pm and 1am ).

Have been writing my complaint letter to my PCT about the birth. Think it's about finished so will be sending it soon.

Also busy wtiting christening invitations and thank you notes...so better go. Sorry for not mentioning people individually.

That's lovely Luce, glad it was a good experience despite being put off the first day. Here's to these babies staying nice and contented.

Let us know how the complaint goes, Nutty, I was fuming on your behalf.

All Ok here, right nip virtually healed, left getting there and have even managed the holy grail of a some comfotable feeds. He still struggles a bit to latch on the left if it's engorged but it's improving. The BF advice I've had from the midwives has been really really good. When I think back to the state things were in by this point with dd - cracked nips, pain, expressing, using shields & everything going downhill fast - such a different experience so far .

Have loved all the baby photos so far, what a gorgeous bunch of babies.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 24/04/2007 20:52

LuceWheel, so glad all went well for you hun.

All ok here, really tired despite having had a good run of hours sleep last night - from 2.00 - 7.00!

See you all in the a.m.

Pinions · 24/04/2007 21:37

BF question for those who are BF.

This might seem obvious but does what you eat really affect your babies feeding/digestion etc.

The reason I am asking is that all of a sudden baby seems to have "outbreaks" of what seems like hysterics as if something is really hurting him. Its not the obvious nappy/tired/hungry, (because he won't feed), but more of he looks like he is in pain. Then he always seems to do quite a biggish poo straighafterwards. I have started my so called "diet" and had wheat cereal and about 6 wheat ryvetas for lunch.......is this why???

TBH its quite distressing cos it is clearly causing him a lot of discomfort whatever it is, and this is all I can put it down to?

Any suggestions/advice? Will try changing diet again tomorrow to see if that helps.

EllieKthePA · 24/04/2007 21:40

hey pinions x

it really does, matthew used to get terrible wind whenever i ate dried apricots, i stopped eating them, he stopped farting

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 24/04/2007 21:43

Lucewheel..i am afraid i have no great advice as for the first 5 days i sort of sleot propped up.I have an infection as well in my wound on theleft hand side and it won't clear up even with antibiotics..v.sore.
