Lizzz i didn't give Zac calopl beforehand, just gave him a feed in the waiting area straight after to settle him and he was fine.

laughalot · 28/03/2007 11:14

Right wilkie iv emailed

Muckypup · 28/03/2007 11:14

Urbandryad - what a cutie - I love dungarees too! They're specially good at disuising the weebil bottom from using reusuables.

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 28/03/2007 11:14

ok, this is what happens. you go in, sit down, take Lo's trousers off. they jab them, one in each thigh then tell you to stand up so baby knows it's over. then they'll ask you to wait for 10 minutes to make sure there's no initial reaction. i gave Zac a comfort feed in the waiting are and he didn't need Calpol.

hope you're ok. it's horrible, but it's short.

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 28/03/2007 11:16

Muckypup - i think Z has the same dungies as your Lo is wearing in his photo. are they the baby bear ones from Boots?

Muckypup · 28/03/2007 11:17

Lizz - the creme egg edible baby thing is a bit scary! I just want to eat him up.

Wilkie - yes agree to disagree Made my point and views so will leave it at that

We are going single MMR (not starting a debate! lol) paid to have the done. Dd has had measles and rubella and ds1 had had the measles one so far, had to cancel appts a number of times for the others due to sickness etc but am due to carry on with them soon.

Hope everyone's well today. Ethan was up in the night as usual but I'm getting used to stayng awake for 2 hours at 2am now lol. At least me and dh take turns. He's always a happy little thing though which helps a lot.

Muckypup · 28/03/2007 11:41

Lizz - good luck with the jabs

Carrot - fantastic news about the wedding. Can't wait to hear more.

Didn't know weaning was such a hot topic! I will have to go and do some research now. Where is the best place to go for info? Also what is BLW?

MMR - I trust the health professionals on that one. Partly because my sister in law is a health researcher who works on testing vaccinations and she's read a lot of the research first hand rather than just getting random selected facts reported in the media.

Lizzzombie · 28/03/2007 11:46

Yay - R-Gee you are in your 30's too! Lets start our own thread. "In our 30's and loving not having spots anymore" or "In our 30's and able to drink more red wine than you" or "in our 30's, so been there, done that & got the t-shirt...apart from this baby thing!"
I could go on! x

Lizzzombie · 28/03/2007 11:48

I think my personal favourite thread title for an over 30's group would be:
"over 30 so dont care how much I eat anymore, my arse & tits have already sagged"

of course, I am not going to set up any over 30 threads as that is too exclusive, and if anyone read about my problems finding non exclusive mother and baby groups, I am very much ANTI putting people in boxes.
BTW - I am 100% non organic, white, hetro & vegatarian. Thats my box & I love it.

Dragonhart · 28/03/2007 11:50

Good Luck with the Jabs Lizz. I have given mine a dose of calpol just before bed time each time. Seems to work but not sure if mine would have had any reactions anyway.

Glad all went well laughalot. Must be a relief.

And glad appt went well 2happy. for lo though at the crying after it was done. Hope he and the feeding is better now.

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 28/03/2007 11:52

Muckypup - BLW is Baby Led Weaning

i dare you to start a thread on the food section about it. go on....dare ya dare ya!!

2HappyEaster · 28/03/2007 11:55

Dammit I was joking when I said about MMR!!! I thought it would be more contentious than weaning, but that the weaning was much worse!!
My last words on the subject: Wilkie you are quite right. I was thinking about what you said about taking and leaving pg diet advice - I knowingly ate goats cheese more than once thinking, common sense is the best approach. And, though I was joking about MMR, I believe everyone has the right to choose. I don't know why I felt less flexible about weaning, makes no sense to feel some guidelines are for guidance only, and some should be adhered too . I think partly it seems weird to hear you all talking about starting food when my ds2 is only 7 weeks old! Plus, from your POV of course it might help the reflux mightn't it? Generally speaking, it's often the best policy to ignore me, I do spout shite on a regular basis (or had you noticed?!!)

Anyhoo, anyone want to take bets on ds2's weight at clinic this morning. He's 7 weeks, 8 on friday. Anyone?? Flipping 12lb 13oz!!! He's gone from the 50th centile right through the 75th and is now slightly below the 91st! Someone tell me what it's like to have a nice, delicate little baby.....
Have to go to work this afternoon for a meeting, Wilkie I'll try to get to the post office on the way. But I must apologise for the state of the parcel, I didn't have any jiffy bags so decided to re-use one, which is a bit scabby, but then worried it would come open so have plastered masking tape round it, it just looks a sight . Sorry!
Good luck with the imms today. They always made ds1 sleep like a legend - bonus! [bad mummy emoticon]

I'm in my 30s too - I claim new baby brain mash to explain my incipient dementia

muckypups blw thread

CarrotAteAllTheEggs · 28/03/2007 16:05

All mine have had their jabs, but I'm going to delay LO'S because of his reaction to the worm medicine. I had my post natal check today and my (NEW!) doctor said his rash was infantile excema, there was nothing on his chest so the blocked nose and heavy breathing was just excess mucus in the head. I asked if this couold be cause by a reaction to something but she said it was just genetic? and he could have his jabs straightaway.

Completely different advice to the alternative health surgery/homeopath (obviously), so will try cutting some things out of my diet for a couple of weeks to see if it improves. He will have the jabs though, just maybe in a few weeks time. Lots of people in my area don't have them though, which is reducing the efffectiveness apparently, something to do with herd immunity.

katwith3kittens · 28/03/2007 17:39

Hey guess what I did this afternoon ?

Went on a MN meet-up. Met some nice ladies and their cute babies for a drink. We all seemed pretty normal. Wouldnt it be wierd to have a January meet up ?

JodieG1 · 28/03/2007 17:52

Kat - Sounds fun, whereabouts was that?

With regarding to the weaning issues I'll post properly later but I have major regrets about dd as she now has allerigies etc and I'm beating myself up over it big time. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion but I'd hate not to say anything and have people in the same boat as me in 5 years time. I'll post details later once kids are all in bed.

CarrotAteAllTheEggs · 28/03/2007 17:58

What allergies does she have, Jodie? I have posted a question in the breastfeeding bit too about whether dairy can enter milk. Dp thinks the proteins are huge (did chemistry) but I think the body is a weird thing and it might be worth a try. Think there might be dairy in most choc though just before easter too!

Shimmer · 28/03/2007 19:04

Hi all. Gosh lots going on here! TBH I hadn't even thought about weaning yet- seems like theres a lot to learn so better start swotting up soon. The BLW thing sounds interesting. Possibily a stoopid question, but at 6 months most babies won't have teeth, right? Doesn't this make the eating finger foods thing tricky? Wouldn't you need teeth to chew sticks of fruit and veg? Unless they just sort of lick them... but that doesn't sound very nutrious?? I'll have to read the the links on muckypups thread. I'm sure once i know what i'm talking about i'll form my own opinion on it all!!

One thing i did (rather surprisingly, i'm usually pretty laid back about things) develop a strong opinion on the other day was when i was at our baby massage class on Monday. It's a bit hippy there anyway (which is all very well and good in moderation) but i was quite shocked to hear that a couple of the mums in the class had decided not to immunise their babies at all! I understand the contraversy over MMR (though not as controversial as weaning it seems!)but to choose not to immunise at all seems rather extreme!?! I hadn't even really considered that as an option to be honest. I haven't read any of the literature that i'm sure you can get about how its really bad for babies, but surely it's actually in everyone's best interests for babies to be vaccinated!! I had to really bite my tongue in the class when they were talking about homeopathic alternatives I'm sure there will be people who dissagree with me up i seriously doubt you can cure serious illnesses like polio or measles etc. with homeopathic remedies alone. Grrrrr....
