RGee - someone else told me that the 2nd set of jabs were worse. eek! Z has his on Monday, which i can't pretend i'm not dreading, really hoping dh will be able to get the time off to come with me, but given that i reminded hom yesterday while he was at work and he still forgot to ask for the time off, i'm not holding my breath. i wish he'd show more interest in the nastier aspects of childcare, and i don't mean changing nappies. i'm not sure how well dh has bonded with Z tbh. or is this normal and am i expecting too much? did anyone else's dh/p come to the jabs?

ELM - good to see you again. you can't be the evil DIL, that title belongs to me! mwahahaha!

i've been thinking about a Jan meet up, but we're fairly scattered. i'm in northampton...think Laughalot might be the closest to me!!

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 29/03/2007 09:09

just have to share a "moment" with you --

picture the scene: me, happily MNing away, Zac in bed next to me, merrily kicking away on the clean sheets i put on our bed last night. explosive poo sound. i wait 5 minutes (as is my wont, otherwise i can end up changing 3 nappies in 10 minutes) then change him. poo everywhere. on his sleepsuit. down his legs. on the sheet on daddy's side of the bed

ok, so i go to get another sleepsuit. sit down on bed to change LO. take nappy off. promptly get wee in face. yes, wee in face. my face. not his. then he weed on the bed too.

2HappyEaster · 29/03/2007 09:16

ELM - great to see you, sounds like a rough time you had, glad he's doing well now.
Jodie - about the allergies, we have a lot of that in the family and ds1 has eczema, but I blame Johnson's baby bath (and dh for using it when I said no bath additives before 6 weeks; and the experts who recommend nightly baths as part of lo's routine).

ds2 went from 17.45 to 4am between feeds last night . That means that if he'd fed at 21.45 he'd have gone through the night!!!!! Am going to try getting him to feed about that time tonight and see if it works! Fingers crossed...

omg - UD your poo story sounds like a nightmare. TBH, I would have left the poo DP's side of the bed! That is a truly evil mumma.
I took my LO to the doctors for jabs on his own. I also had to remind DP a few times that it was jab day. I know what you mean about DP also. I have banned all books from the bathroom (where he does his reading iykwim!) apart from the baby whisperer, and told him he has to read it all. I think when we go to formula feeding he wont know what hits him in terms of involvement. (and messier nappies!)
In case DP reads this ever - I do love you darling, just read the f**king book! x

Lizzzombie · 29/03/2007 10:09

ps - re meet up. I reckon we should do a virtual one! I'm in Brighton.
I went to uni in Newcastle & spent lots of family hols in Northumberland. Its gorgeous up there. I'm jealous. Bet you dont have loads of junkie scum near you!

Afternoon ladies, Been off the PC for afew days (because of miserable moaning DH), have I missed anything?

JodieG1 · 29/03/2007 14:05

Dragon - yes sounds the same thing. Just hoping we've found the trigger as it's awful seeing her in so much pain

I'm in Cambridge, a meet sounds like it'd be fun.

laughalot · 29/03/2007 14:56

Hi everyone hope you are all fine and dandy we are all ok just all full of colds in our house.

Eah thanks for the link to msn will sort it shortly, also the 2008 holidays should go on sale next month.

Starting back to work on the 11th july .

RGeeSusIsCrucified · 29/03/2007 15:18

Just a quickie. LO just had second set of jabs (went on own - I am a brave mum)and is a little gumpy, so hoping she'll sleep most the afternoon like she did last time.

Hi LTH - nice to have you back You missed lots of controversy and differing views re weaning, but best not to bring it up again!

UD - pmsl at wee in face. Sorry

Laughalot - July sounds so near. I'm starting back mid August, but going to a four day week. What's everyone else doing? Anyone not going back to work, or returning really soon?

Right, sorry can't stop. Must go give Pippa a big cuddle.

mad mad mad woman pcf

Trial morning at preschool went well Ellie took a bit of a shine to one assistant wo luckily works the days she is going, only one minor outburst but part of that was my fault as I misunderstood something! Roll on 24th april.

Laughalot thanks for the infor re hols.

I am going back to work 26th June just my normal 2 days a week and I am quite looking forward to it as the extra money that I earn on top of mat pay makes a difference to us and I quote like my 2 days having ault convo and streching my brain muscles a bit.

Just cooking a scrummy roast dinner for us at the moment, dh and Hattie sleeping onone sofa and me and Ellie doing a puzzle on the other (although I am encouraging her to do it herself whilst I am on here!)

ellieandhattieandchocolate · 29/03/2007 16:01

quite like
adult convo
this is why I need to go back to work to get used to typing properly!

ELM · 29/03/2007 16:34

Trying to get work to let me go back part time......turning out to be a bit of a nightmare! Does anyone know if legally they have to try and provide part-time alternatives?

Very excited. Have just managed to put pics on my member profile . Lots of pics

JodieG1 · 29/03/2007 16:38

Anyone planning on staying home and not going back to work? I gave up when pregnant with dd and haven't been back since. I have found staying at home harder than working though lol. I'll get a part time job when they're all at school.

ELM · 29/03/2007 16:39

Am now going through and looking at everyones pics. Lots of gorgeous babies. (I will not get broody for a second baby...I will not get broody for a second baby!)

Isn't it funny how you build up a mental image of someone in your mind? For some reason LTH I had you down as being blonde!

ELM · 29/03/2007 16:40

Sorry Jodie x'ed messages. Would love to stay at home but can't afford it

trixymalixy · 29/03/2007 17:18

Wish I didn't have to work, but with the prices of houses these days there can't be many families that can afford to have one parent not working.

I am however not going back to work until jan 2008 as we have taken a break from paying our mortgage for a year. I am sure it'll go far too quickly tho.

I'm hoping to go back part time, but my lovely boss has just resigned and I don't know if my new one will be as nice and child friendly.

Have just taken DS for his hearing test (which he passed), in between scrubbing the house with surgical spirit as that bl**dy tomcat managed to get into the house and has sprayed everywhere. It is absolutely vile.

Lizzzombie · 29/03/2007 17:25

OMG!
nightmare afternoon!
LO was crying during his afternoon nap, went into the bedroom to check on him...eventually. Heard odd creaking noise, and water noises, stood there for ages thinking it was the rain outside, then realised water was pouring down the bedroom wall from the upstairs flat. I HATE LIVING HERE!
4th floor flat with small baby, and dicks upstairs who leave their shower on for too long and let it go down the side of their bath. Cant wait to move.
We are starting to house hunt on Saturday.

Muckypup · 29/03/2007 17:32

Lizz - sounds like a nightmare where you live. Hope you find somewhere nice soon.

I'm going back to work full time in september and for two weeks before the summer holiday. I am a teacher. I'm dreading it as I've really enjoyed maternity leave. Would much rather work part time but DH is going to start working freelance and will look after Leo for 2 days and we can't afford both of us part time!

ellieandhattieandchocolate · 29/03/2007 17:39

elm he is gorgeous love the last picture what a huge grin I had real trouble going p/t after after having ellie I had a evil cow for boss who agreed in principle my hours when I was on mat leave and then when I put in my flexible working app she rejected it and said she could only offer mon to fri afternoons. Luckily enough she hadnt followed all the correct company guidelines and missed deadlines in replying to me etc as she hadnt accepted my proposed hours she was meant to offer me a mediation meeting wth HR rep but didnt just said nothing she could do, so I contacted them and they arranged one I didnt get the hours I was after but was much better. Then 8 months later got my male boss who is great (his wife works p/t as they have 2 small dds) and he agreed the hours I wanted intially straight away and its been plain sailing since in fact much rather have him as a boss than a woman especially as their home set up is very similar to ours so he understands.

lizz and what sort of place are you looking for fingers crossed it wont be to long before you are out of there

trixy have you spoken to your nice boss to see if you could get anything in writing about part time hours before they leave?
