I hope it's a stage you never remember purple . Weighing isn't classed as essential unless you have concerns but I'll go soon lol I hope!

The thing is ds is a complete Jekyll and Hyde. Such a happy
Content baby when he isn't in pain/uncomfortable.

How do you guys deal with others wanting to hold their LO's and not handing them straight back if and when they become unsettled?

If DD starts to moan I let whoever is holding her have a go at settling her unless she's really in distress as I don't want her just to settle for me iyswim.

Had another run on with MIL over the baby gym!! We visited yesterday as it was DPs birthday so we timed it with DDs feed so Nana could feed her (don't get me started) anyway about an hour and a half after feeding DD starts to show signs of being tired, MIL still trying to play with her dispite me just saying awww she's getting tired, so I took DD off her and let her cuddle on me, MIL "shall I get the baby gym out she can have a play on that" my response was very direct no she won't want to play she's tired (just told her that) well her face dropped and I thought she was going to have a go but then my DSSs came in from the garden so she didn't.

Said to DP on the drive home she might complain to him again so wanted to give him the heads up.

DD was very unsettled at bedtime tonight, didn't go down at 7 took me til 8:30 to settle and that was after I gave her another feed. She had 6oz at 6:30 as usual after bath but then has another 4oz at just gone 8.

Maybe she has teeth coming Carol ?
I have had to give DD calpol on 2 occasions lately because she has teeth coming .
We are off on a uk Hol this week so back to steriliser tablets etc Smile

purpleviolet1 · 15/08/2017 02:19

Hmm interesting carol, I'm talking about people who ds doesn't know well though, doesn't see often etc. He is distressed enough with all his issues and I can't bear to have him any more unsettled than he already is or I might jump off a cliff

For what's it's worth I think the direct approach is best carol!

DS has also had a temp today, lots of chewing fists going on but no sign of teeth.

Mother that's exciting! Enjoy Smile

Ahh Hugh ds was breech but they only offered me a check up where a Physio felt his hips. That was when he was about 5 weeks old and she discharged us then. Hope all goes well Smile ds still sleeps with his legs up in the breech position lol

Glad they aren't keeping you waiting too long mother

Finally took DD swimming been planning for weeks and something always came up. As predicted she loved it! We have a real water baby. It was a really nice class not too long she was shattered after it, started to fall asleep while we we're getting dressed.

How's DS doing purple ?

Carolann8584 · 15/08/2017 23:37

She went down at 7:50 so better than last night. I worked out why she wouldn't settle.

I changed her feeds this week, She was getting up at 6/6:30 so that's when I gave her a feed then next at 10 then 2 then 6 df at 11. Last week she was getting up at 5:30 so I was giving her a mini feed then and starting her full feeds at 8, 12, 4 and 6:30 so her last 2 feeds were closer together then df at 11.

She doesn't cry for feeds so I just thought she was being fussy or it was teething. I gave her another feed to see if she needed it at 7:30. Had 4 out of 6 so obviously needed it. Will change her feeds back to a mini feed if she wakes before 8am

MotherofA · 15/08/2017 23:48

Ah bless glad she settled . My DD makes the bloody world know when she's hungry haha don't know where she gets it from Grin

Carolann8584 · 16/08/2017 00:12

Haha. DD only cries if it's the middle of the night for food and then I put her dummy in while I get it ready, some times she'll go back to sleep and wake again after 30 mins or so but if I really want to go back to sleep myself i just df her.

She's started to moan a bit if I stop paying her attention she just says Mmmmeh Mmmmeh no crying tho, just flashes her big smile if I look/walk/talk in her direction lol

purpleviolet1 · 16/08/2017 02:02

Bless the wee souls they are so clever aren't they.

DS is slightly better thanks mother, although he did have an unsettled episode before bed and it dragged on for couple hours.

I really prefer doing a dream feed at 10/11 rather than Waiting for him to wake.. he's been getting up around 1-2 am depending on what time his last feed was. It works out to be around 7 hour stretch. If we go back to dream feed at say 11 then he will prob wake around 5am. As mentioned before, he was going from df to nearly 7am but with all the issues plus not drinking as much during the day he doesn't seem to be lasting as long. Just hope he settles soon now on this new milk and we get back on track routine was. Everything is out of kilter just now as the unsettled periods are knocking out the naps and feeds.

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 16/08/2017 04:14

Agree much prefer df then natural waking as I know eventually baby will go 11-6/7 and you wake up and no 2/3/4am Feed and it's morning

Where as if you don't wake them for df they will wake 2/3/4 as starving

But as with everything with children it's up to parents and what they want to do. No way is wrong

purpleviolet1 · 16/08/2017 07:55

Once things are a bit more settled I'll be going back to df!
