My DD is still waking at around 4 despite feeding at 10.30 Confused she's eating lots of food in the day too

purpleviolet1 · 16/08/2017 09:12

Is it a growth spurt mother?

OP posts:
MotherofA · 16/08/2017 09:24

That's the only logical answer I can come up with ! She's having 7oz at 10.30 then 4 at 4.30 then breakfast at 7.30/8 .

Carolann8584 · 16/08/2017 09:56

DD had a better night last night. Had 22oz in 12 hours!!

MotherofA · 16/08/2017 11:13

That's great 😁

Carolann8584 · 16/08/2017 11:21

How are everyone's LOs today?

MotherofA · 16/08/2017 11:33

Screamy Sad

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/08/2017 13:04

Asleep. Came back from m@t and fell asleep just as about to have lunch

So will be having late lunch and then nap be earlier so
Prob bed early as well tonight. Ahhhhh

Could the waking be habit and offer water? Or is she starving and drinks and straight back to sleep? If so then possibly growth spurt

coupester · 16/08/2017 14:29

Hello! I've only just found this thread and I have a DS born in March.

I'm very lucky that he sleeps through the night but he's not very good at napping in the day. He's just been grumbling so I gave him a bottle but he's fallen asleep in my arms!

This means a) he's only had about 2oz so when he wakes he'll cry until I give him the bottle back, b) I can't move because if I try to put him down he'll wake up (my arm has gone dead) and c) the washing I've been trying to put on the line for the past 3 hours is still sat waiting, all soggy and it'll probably start to smell musty and need washing again Sad

hugh I might start doing 2 df. I'm usually still awake at 1 so if I can squeeze another feed into her maybe she won't wake at 3ish. She's good at staying asleep and falling back to sleep after night feeds but it would be nice to feed her more while I'm awake and get a bigger block of sleep 😁

I've managed to work her feeds so her next 1 will be at 4 hoping that helps with getting her bedtime back to 7

troodiedoo · 16/08/2017 16:19

Hello all Flowers sorry to read about the health issues some are having. Hope things improve.

love the peppa pig swimwear, too cute! We've been a couple of times, dd loves it but my God it's a faff Hmm

This sleep is a tricky business isn't it.

Welcome coupester I have a nap resister too! Doesn't go to sleep till 10pm, feeds around 4am then back to sleep till 8am.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/08/2017 17:53

I'm bf but do give the odd bottle of pre mix formula here and there. I am intrigued by the hungry baby one, might give it a try.

Does anyone else's baby love to shriek for fun? Confused

troodiedoo · 16/08/2017 18:18

I really don't want to go back to work. I think we can manage if we cut back but we are not doing so well with that so far Grin

We are the same. Keep saying I'm going to meal plan, write shopping list, stop ordering just eat...

My statutory maternity pay runs out around Xmas, that's when shit will hit the fan!. If I could work one day a week could cover that I reckon, but very doubtful my employer would agree to that!

From what I've read on Facebook you need to get on waiting list for nursery at least six months in advance.

purpleviolet1 · 16/08/2017 19:20

Hi coupester! Welcome aboard.

We've had a 'bit under the weather' kinda day. Just started probiotics so been a bit more windy than previous days with trapped wind. If that makes sense! Day 7 of the neocate. Hoping by day 10 things will improve........Sad

Ds didn't have 3pm feed , kept fighting the bottle even though it had been 4 hours since last feed. Offered again at 4.30ish but nope. He's had 4.5oz now and knocked out though.

Took ds to supermarket by myself today - I didn't think I should put him in the seat of the trolley since he isn't sitting up unaided and the trolleys with the baby seat felt too small (although I didn't actually check, I just assumed). So I put his car seat in the trolley but it took most of the space so lucky I was only going to get a few things anyway. I've got massive baby brain so forgot a couple of things as well Hmm what do others do?

Bought some ella's pouches for first time. I've been blending / mashing myself for him but it seems to be a hit and miss. Today he wouldn't take from the spoon but took it (sweet potato) when I put it in his mouth with my finger so I'm clearly not getting the texture/ consistency right!

@Blondeshavemorefun I've not started weaning yet, I was waiting for him to be able to sit up. Plus I haven't really prepared for it yet!

I got the washing on the line eventually, still not dry though. Never mind...

@troodiedoo my DS likes to shriek for no apparent reason. He's really increased the shrieking in the last couple of days - think he just likes the sound of his own voice. And his feet. He's obsessed with those.

My DS sleeps for around 12 hours at night (we df around 9pm) and he goes back to sleep for a couple of hours after his first bottle. After that he doesn't really nap, or if he does it's for 20 or 30mins.

purpleviolet1 · 16/08/2017 19:27

Dh and I were chatting about this just last night. I'm due back at work end of April but already getting butterflies when thinking of leaving ds (and I totally trust my mum with him). I've really surprised myself as I really enjoy my work. I just don't want to miss out on him and hardly see him during the week. Hoping my employer will agree to part time. Asked dh if he wants to do a 4 day week so that if I do 4 days then he can be with my mum / nursery for the other 3 days. He's up for it but wants to do compressed hours (working 40 hours in 4 days). Only worth it if he can start early finish early so he can see ds in evenings.

Can't believe we were also talking about trying again ! Ideally I'd like to fall pregnant just before/ after returning to work.

Hugh you do incredibly well to stay up till 1 am, when you are managing 3 young children and also free lancing! Where do you get your energy from???

OP posts:
coupester · 16/08/2017 19:29

@purpleviolet1 I've put the car seat in the trolley before, or if I only need a few bits I'll push him in the pram and carry a basket. I've tried using a baby carrier before, it is a bit easier, as long as the baby likes it! Until you need something on the bottom shelf...

We use the trolleys with the car seat basket on it, only if I'm doing a big shop otherwise I will put the car seat in a shallow trolley but sideways so I get half a trolley.

Well bedtime back to normal now we've changed the feeding schedule back. Went to bed no problem at 6:45. Had feed at 4:15 then play, bath at 6 followed by feed. Grin

Must make a mental note to leave the feeding times as they are
