We do roughly 28oz - 4 bottles of 7

Or 30 and 5bottles of 6oz if have df if milk been less each feed in daytime

Not sure how to work out food. Has porridge and then 5/6 ice cubes of veg for both lunch and tea

DD just woke/moaned so put her dummy back in (teething a lot today, chewing everything) went to make bottle. She was fast asleep again! Will df in a min.

She's not had enough milk today even if she has the full df. She's 21.5oz so far and just gonna do a 6oz df

Carolann8584 · 11/08/2017 00:11

Finished the day in 26.5oz.

Carolann8584 · 11/08/2017 06:54

Pretty much the same as the night before, woke at 2:45 had 3oz then woke at 6:15 had 2oz

purpleviolet1 · 11/08/2017 07:44

Wow hugh and blondes, your pretty well established on 3 meals! Grin

DS has been better but just finishing one cube if that. I stopped for a couple of days during milk changeover. The sleep lady recommended thickening his feeds and making porridge with arrowroot (can also mix a veg into this) so I tried that yesterday and it seemed to work well.

She suggested we stopped the df whilst we are having the multiple night wake ups until the new milk kicks in so last couple days he has been going to sleep at 7pm and up for feed at 2am-ish. Having 5 feeds in total of 6oz each. He's finishing these mostly but i purposely kept it at 6oz during the changeover.

Carol I read somewhere that to sleep through the night, they need to be having around 32oz I think it was. It was definitely over 30oz but maybe not quite as much as 35oz. Hope you have some success with getting more feeds in during the day. If she is teething it's probably a little sore for her to drink so perhaps move up teat size to ease the pressure on gums or try something like anbesol before feeds?

Carolann8584 · 11/08/2017 08:17

I already moved up a teat size she's been on number 3 for about a month now. Been putting teething gel on about 5-10 minutes before each feed as it says the max is 6 times a day.

Not too fussed about her sleeping through I just want her to finish her feeds so I know she's getting enough nutrients and she's hydrated we've had a couple of warm days.

She's such a happy baby always smiling even with a mouth full of fingers Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/08/2017 08:40

She's a ganet !!!! Was getting wingy an hr after milk hence upped amount of cubes and added extra meal

Dd was 16lbs few weeks ago. Assume now 18. Think gets weighed next week

Seems to be working tho next week may all change 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/08/2017 08:41

Also changed to size 3 teats

Glad new milk seems to be working plus some babies better off without df and waking naturally for milk

Carolann8584 · 11/08/2017 08:58

With her last feed at 6:15 and her only having 2oz should I bring her next feed forward to 9:15? She just doesn't cry for food during the day

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/08/2017 10:12

I would wait till she cries for it rather then do early -what time would she normally feed?

Maybe she isn't a breakie girl?

Carolann8584 · 11/08/2017 10:26

She normally has it at half seven but that's only because she would wake at 4-5 and I would give her a top up but today she woke at just gone 6 so tried her with her breakfast. Just given her feed at 10 she had 4 out if 6 she was moaning for it once she saw the bottle not crying

purpleviolet1 · 11/08/2017 13:08

Carol as far as I understand, from a
Nutrients perspective, babies will take what they need. I know that doesn't help the worry but it gives a little comfort.

Ds still getting distressed during feeds and only managing half a feed and then has a break and then can take the second half. Seems to be really uncomfortable as he doesn't know what he wants. Day 3 of neocate early days yet

Hugh
God yes, DS went through a phase of doing it a while back and we thought he's got over it but he's just started doing it again Confused I would describe as a very loud shriek and much as I usually love the sounds he makes, I hate it!

NameChange30 · 11/08/2017 14:12

In other news I have a cold and call me a wimp but looking after a baby who resists naps when you are feeling shit and need nothing more than a nap yourself is pretty shit Sad

Hope you feel better soon

purpleviolet1 · 11/08/2017 17:04

Not a wimp at all name! Hope you feel better soon. Nothing worse than wanting your bed and not bein able to SadFlowers

How many naps are the LO's having? Ds goes down easily for morning (around 9am) and lunchtime-ish nap (around 1pm) but only has an afternoon nap if we are out and about in the car. Today we are home so he is fighting it but is really grumpy so clearly needs it. I read this is the first nap to be dropped though.

OP posts:
Carolann8584 · 11/08/2017 17:30

purple we have the same naps Grin

DD will have afternoon nap if before 3:30 or out and about Smile

Not had much to eat again today if she has her bedtime and dream feeds then might get up to 30oz but so far only 18oz

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/08/2017 17:37

Bout the same 9/10 12/1 3/4 or if I can do later I can of 4/5 or else crashes early to bed or has a cat nap of 20m

purpleviolet1 · 11/08/2017 17:40

So offered ds his feed early as he only managed 3oz earlier. He's had 5.5oz now and nodded off on the bottle. Was absolutely shattered. Too early to put him down for the night so just put him in the bouncer - hopefully he will be up soon but bedtime will probably be at least 8pm. I'll offer him a top up feed and his solids then when he's up.

Thank you hugh and purple. Yes I'm glad it's Friday and DH will be free to do more at the weekend!

As I've probably complained about mentioned before, DS really fights naps so they're a bit all over the place. He usually has 3 or 4 naps a day but they're almost always short (often around 35 minutes) and sometimes he has an even shorter nap - I call them power naps Grin They're annoying tbh because he clearly needs to sleep for longer but often can't be persuaded to go back to sleep.

I'm stressing about sleep/naps atm because until now we've just gone with the flow but he's fighting it so much that I think a routine would help. The issue is how to introduce one Confused
