I'd moan more but ds2 is having a very off day!

Went to the clinic this morning, and he's a whopping 12.5 pounds! He was 7.5 so 5 in 8 weeks, must be doing something right

poor poor you, UD, I don't agree with any of the stuff about it being two faced or your fault, it's just deeply unfortunate. Everyone moans at times and mostly we'd be mortified if the recipient was to hear it, it's got nothing to do with being two faced at all. We can't all tell people what we really think, as it would often be hurtful, she happens to have found out but I don't think many people would refuse to see their offspring for long, she's doing that as it's the easiest way to hurt you back.

Oh dear. I think I would let it settle for a couple of days and then write the sorriest letter. And don't torture yourself about how much she's helped financially, Jon's mother endlessly helped us in that way but it didn't stop her saying terrible things to me, if I couldn't have moaned to someone I would have exploded. God knows what she said about me when I wasn't there, in fact I can imagine. She's probably said terrible things about you too, if she's like most mother's with their sons, I hope I'm not like that when mine grow up. However bad this seems it was a mistake to send it, not bad of you to say it, you have absolutely no reason to feel bad about yourself as a person or to have any kind of self loathing, however that manifests itself. I really hope you can be kind to yourself about this, god knows we have enough to feel guilty about.

carrotcake · 21/03/2007 13:08

Shimmer, that's just reminded me about the bloody child benefit! I haven't done it yet, I hope i can still get it backdated. oops.

laughalot · 21/03/2007 13:15

Girls you would be proud iv been in the garden and mowed all the lawns and even strimmed rounds the edges im knackered now though.

laughalot · 21/03/2007 13:18

Meant to say gold star for mr wilkie

carrotcake · 21/03/2007 13:19

Laughalot, I feel lazy and ashamed but actually I have someone coming round shortly to do some work in the garden, I normally do it but it's just got so overgrown when I was pregnant and I didn't sort it out in the autumn, and all this bamboo need digging up and I can't face it with LO. I even feel embarrassed when the van pulls up as of course the neighbours 'notice' it's not me in the garden. Oh well!

Hattie2 · 21/03/2007 13:28

carrotcake - you can backdate the child benefit 12 weeks I think, so you should be OK.

laughalot - v impressed I was just looking at our garden thinking it needs sorting out before it all starts growing again .... but that was as far as I got!

lizzz - you're doing better than me if you bother changing your clothes once they've got sick on them , my right shoulder is permanently damp!

2Happy · 21/03/2007 15:05

As far as overgrown gardens are concerned, we've got a skip being delivered on friday!

I did our lawn the other week its quite sad but I have started to like gardening, couldnt understand why my mum liked it when I was younger but its nice to sit out there and relax and look at the things that I have planted and grown, we grow runner beans, tomatoes and rhubard in the summer.

RGee · 21/03/2007 16:52

I am the laziest person in the world when it comes to our garden. We're getting in gardeners to turn our back garden into a hassle free child friendly area - can't wait. Not that I do any lawn mowing anyway.

Shimmer - I did watch the budget (I have to confess to not liking Grease 2 but to liking the budget ). Child benefit is going up to £20 in a couple of years. Income tax is coming down but they're scrapping the lowest band. Beer up 1p, wine up 5p. No change on Southern Comfort for those of you who like it. Swings and roundabouts.

Lizz - I'm happy to walk around with vomit on my shoulder!

Carrotcake - pleased to report my lo has just passed the 12lb mark too, after being 7lb five weeks back! I just love her chubby cheeks and two chins

laughalot · 21/03/2007 17:20

Actually the inspiration for mowing the lawn came from eah I remember you doing yours also it was partly down to ds he wanted to play outside but has learnt how to open the gate so I thought well I will kill two birds with one stone he can play and I can get that done, lauren was asleep in her pram. Ordered my ds a magnetic alphabet and numbers computer this afternoon from early learning down from £ 15.00 to £ 10.00 we are currently learning letters, numbers and colours in the laughalot household. Lauren had hungry baby milk at her 4 oclock feed so hopefully she will be stoged up for bed later.

laughalot · 21/03/2007 18:29

just oredered something else a chinease takeway for 1 yummy yummy sweet and sour chicken hong kong style and chips ill be back later with a big belly

ellieandhattie · 21/03/2007 18:36

MMMM yummy just waiting for dd's to go to bed and then fish and chips (would prefer yours though)

RGee · 21/03/2007 18:53

Chinese takeaway sounds lovely. Nom nom. DH has just returned from his game of golf, 9 minutes late, so I berated him and he is now making tea. But my apple crumble is for pud!

Think I may be in for a shite night. LO was far too tired and grumpy for her 6pm feed. She only had half an ounce, instead of usual 5. Oh dear!

theUrbanDryad · 21/03/2007 19:14

evening all!
well, MIL txt dh today and said that she would write to him concerning the stuff that's still at their house, that she has deleted my email that i sent to apologise unread and that she has put the money for the nappies in our account but that will be the last help we get from her.i've written a card explaining a few things, and also including a photo of Zac. i've decided i'll send her a photo every month so that even if she doesn't want to see us she can see how well he's growing and stuff. i'm really sad because i know she's capable of cutting her nose off to this extent and she will be a very lonely old lady. also, i wonder how FIL feels about it. oh well, we'll see what happens.

oh, and if you think you have problems with dead rabbits and mice, take a look at this

2Happy · 21/03/2007 19:24

ds1 is in bed
ds2 nearly asleep
dh bought casino royale on dvd as consolation present for abandoning me
and there are still some maltesers left

it's not all bad!

(except i'm so old i have to put the subtitles on or i miss all the dialogue! i'm turning into my mother!)

UD - i like the idea of sending her pics, i hope she comes round of her own accord, but if not then i hope the pics will tempt her back in time.

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 21/03/2007 19:41

Loved casino royale 2happy. Hope you enjoy!

Urban - what a freak! Scary what some people do. Hope the pics make her realise it is not worth a huge fall out. How could she resist, pics of your lo are gorgeous!

OMG! I think that R has settled herself to sleep! Held her swaddled until she relaxed then put her down and left. She cried so I went back in and shh-patted her for 7 mins then walked out while she was awake and she has just fallen asleep! Everyother night I have shh-patted her to sleep which takes about 20mins.

wilkie · 21/03/2007 19:48

Laughalot - are you my long lost twin????? SoCo and Sweet N Sour chicken hong kong style with chips - we were seperated at birth methinks

ellieandhattie · 21/03/2007 20:17

dragonhart- at Ruth settling herself congrats

2Happy hope daniel craig is entertaining you and throw some maltesers over this way

UD - great idea about the photo and it would be her loss if she can't be adult enough to even read an apology then she is the one missing out (glad shes given you money for nappies after all thats what started this )

My favourite chinese is sweet and our chicken balls, chips, plain chow mein but if we have friends round love it when we get the huuuge set meal as get to try all the other things and you can't have chinese without prawn crackers

theUrbanDryad · 21/03/2007 20:28

i can smell my dinner cooking at the moment. homemade potato wedges and chicken strips. and baked beans. mmmmmmm...

annieapple7 · 21/03/2007 20:57

Bloody hell I can't keep up with this thread...I am supposed to be having a shower while DH feeds baby Rose...should go down and put her in her cot really so had better make this quick...

Thanks for the comments on my "glam" photo wilkie, EAH and UD....it must have been the endorphins from childbirth because I look a fright in every one since! Every pic of baby is spoiled by my big moon face...must start by postnatal diet....

I love reading everyone's profiles too EAH! Quavers are probably safer to give a child to eat in a supermarket than grapes anyway in case of choking...I too started growing things in the garden after having children, did tomatoes and lettuce last summer, want to try strawberries this year (oh dear, I will be asking for a cushion to kneel on for my birthday at this rate!!)

Poor UD - I don't think you can do anymore. Perhaps a handwritten letter would be better than an email, could you plead PND??

Yes Lizzombie, put me down for a sick suit. I changed my top the other day to get rid of the stink of sick but could smell it...it was in my hair ! yuk

I can't dreamfeed very well either. Rose was awful last night, crying from 7 - 12, so I bought some Dr Brown bottles and infacol to try tonight. DH put her down at 8.30 and haven't heard a peep dso far, so cross your fingers for me...

Good luck tonight everyone.

annieapple7 · 21/03/2007 20:58

So fess up girls...who is back in their pre-pregancy jeans? Or who, like me, needs to lose 2 stone????

wilkie · 21/03/2007 21:03

Bought size 12 from Oasis the other day which fit great - usually size 10 though

JodieG1 · 21/03/2007 21:12

Haven't had much time to catch up today, Ethan has been awake a lot and is still awake, think he misses his daddy as it's usually him that settles him to sleep

Ethan is 10 weeks tomorrow and now weighs about 15lb hehe, will take him next week to get a proper measurement done. I'm back in my pre-preg clothes, size 8 jeans but still a little flabby round my stomach. I actually weigh less now that what I did before I got pregnant! Must be the breastfeeding as I'm still eating crap lol, breastfeeding ds1 didn't shift any pounds at all so I am surprised.

laughalot · 21/03/2007 21:13

Well the chinease was nice untill I found a complimentary hair in my chips I wont be using them again.

Lauren had hungry baby milk so we shall see how the night goes, I have a sore throat and runny nose guess a cold is on its way .

Ud I personally think she cant be that mad because she is still giving the money for the nappies if I had fallen out with someone to the extent she reckons she has I wouldnt be parting with money, give her a week and she will be fine remenber they are at that age where they are going through the change so they are pissed off every day . The letter and photo idea is good though.

Dragon lauren sleeps swaddeled all night

laughalot · 21/03/2007 21:17

Well laughalot was happy untill she read jodie and wilkies post I was a size 16 before pregnancy since having lauren im now in a 14 dont ask me how which I was pleased about then I read your post and felt guilty about my chinease , size 8 gosh if only
