So my 9 day old baby boy was delivered by emcs at 37+5 gestation due to presenting breech (waters broke and contractions started). First baby so lots to learn!

Currently giving him expressed milk and formula topup. We tried breastfeeding but there was latch issues, he got very frustrated as he wasn't getting satisfied and my nipple was cracked and bleeding within a couple of days. I then got blocked ducts and the whole thing was a disaster really. I feel like a bit of a failure and did get help from bf clinic for the latch but it was little too late. With the c section recovery I just feel too exhausted to have him on the boob constantly and least with formula he is getting some decent sleep (although I'm usually expressing during this time so don't get a proper rest).

Oh and his fussy time is between 10pm -2am. He tends to feed and need winded on repeat between this time. It's exhausting but tonight I had a nap from 7-10pm in anticipation.

Come and join me for some chat...

Same here namechange...

Can anyone recommend where to get a gro bag from and which tog?

Boots or Mothercare have a good selection of grobags. We have 3 little ones for the Moses all 1.5 tog. I was given some as presents but they are too big for the Moses they are all 0-6 months but look big enough for a 2-3year old lol!!

Tonight my DD has had a late night, the latest she's had since she was born, didn't get to sleep until 10!! Got her a vapour rub and nasal drops to help with her congestion. She had a bath at 7 then her usual 7:30 feed dosed off for half an hour after feed then woke up, wide awake. After trying to get her back to sleep she started her hungry cry at 9:30 So made a feed. She had 2oz then fought it for a bit but gave in to sleep at 10.

It's been really warm all day she was in a vest and short dungarees today so thought she would do without a grobag tonight but I was wrong, grobag went on before 9:30 feed.

DS is a wriggler so think it's defo time to get one. Thanks for the advice.

Doing the nursery up soon can anyone suggest what colour to do the accessories, blinds , light shade etc. The carpet is a taupe kind of colour, cot quilt is cream and biscuit. The furniture is ivory. Definitely too bland so was thinking of a light green perhaps? Any other recommendations? I want it bright and playful.

Purple huge!! Disney fan here. If we were having a boy the theme was going to be Peter Pan/ neverland Smile

I think green would look lovely with cream/ivory/taupe tones. I'd go quite pale I think. It would be fresh and calming Smile

I saw a FB ad for the ergopouch (sleeping bag) which looks good.

MotherofA · 08/07/2017 22:33

Green does sound lovely purple .
LO is coughing and stuffy nose , can't figure if hay fever or a cold but I've got the calpol plug in (original plug is from DD ten years ago ! ) and calpol nasal saline plus kids olbas.

MotherofA · 08/07/2017 22:36

PS

Purple as I'm starting with veg I've been doing it at tea time (dreading breakfast because of school run haha ) . It's really whatever works best for you and LO xx

Carolann8584 · 08/07/2017 22:46

For those who are starting on weaning, how old are your LOs? Having watched my DD get more and more excited and fascinated as she discovers new things I'm looking forward to how she will react to food (well dreading it's going sooo fast)

MotherofA · 08/07/2017 23:03

17 weeks , I did the same with my DD10 . She's only having tiny tastes atm and mostly spits it out Smile

Awwww hugh she looks so comfy though Smile

DD is still a little congested not as bad as she was. She has her jabs in about an hour. Might have to wake her. She's enjoying her morning nap Smile 8:30 til 10:30-11 on week day mornings

Carolann8584 · 11/07/2017 09:43

To wake or not to wake. Appointment in an hour, which would be the normal time she would wake for a feed. Last fed at 5:30. Or should I save the feed for after jabs?

purpleviolet1 · 11/07/2017 14:39

Aww lovely pics! Hope the jabs went well. We have the 16 week ones next week...

We had our first wedding with DS and he wore a lovely outfit from next complete with braces and bow tie! He was very well behaved and it was a lovely day.

DD off her food again today, she had her midnight and 5am feeds fine just nothing since.

Don't like the bruises on her legs from her jabs on Tuesday Sad

Almost started painting her room yesterday, then I couldn't open the pot! Had my OH open it for me so I can try again when she has her afternoon nap Smile

purpleviolet1 · 13/07/2017 12:06

Not moved in yet Hugh! Want to get it all set up before we make the shift so it's as easy as possible. Bit worried DS will get unsettled but at least I won't be stressed with unpacking etc. DH moved the boxes yesterday and I'll start unpacking there now. Good luck with the renovations!

Aren't you all just loving this age? DS is so fun to be around now. So much easier to lookafter than the first 12 weeks. Don't know if it's just me that found them very hard. Could be because of the milk allergy/ reflux.

purpleviolet1 · 13/07/2017 12:10

How exciting Carol what colour are you painting it?

Anyone moved their little one into their own room?

DS has also been off his feeds for days now. Think it's because of the gums. He's been running a low grade fever. Some feeds he's having just 2oz, other feeds he's having 5oz. Prior to this though he was having 6/7oz every feed Confused

It's called Fairy Magic it's a pale pink/lilac/lavender-ish colour.

Glad you enjoyed the wedding and are finding things generally easier Smile

Carol
Sounds lovely, enjoy the painting! I'm jealous impressed that you're getting a job like that done.

I'm not sure if this age is easier for us. I'd say the first few weeks were difficult because of tongue tie (and because I was still recovering from the birth and had various infections). After that it got easier and it was certainly helped by the fact the DS seems easy going. We did have some problems with wind but no major issues like reflux or allergies like some of you had. I'd say the last month or so has been hard work, though. I think it's mainly due to teething as DS has been unhappy more often than usual and it usually seems to be due to pain. I find it quite frustrating not always being able to tell exactly what's wrong and what he needs. And there are some days when he barely naps at all during the day - whether that's due to teething or not, I don't know. But it's pretty exhausting. And when he was refusing the bottle that was a real low point for me, although we persevered and he seems to be taking it again now - touch wood!! I really hope that continues!

I also think it was easier at the beginning because DH was waiting on us hand and foot Grin But he doesn't really do that any more, darn!

NameChange30 · 13/07/2017 13:47

To answer your question purple, we haven't moved DS into his own room yet. I was hoping to wait until at least 6 months, but I think he'll grow out of the Snuzpod before then, so we'll have to move him when he does. I think I'll miss having him sleeping next to me!

hugh no temp, she's been off her food all day. Had a late afternoon nap 4 til 6:30 thought she would be really hungry when she woke but after 3oz she kept hitting the bottle away. Then I realised she was busy filling her nappy once she had finished and I changed her she had the rest of her feed Yay!!! Grin
