NJ, in an emergency and with no other transport available, taxis are obliged to take you without a car seat - read up on this as I don't drive either and the car seat is therefore permanently in DP's car. Please get him seen today? The receptionist sounds awful, Will the emergency docs do a call out?

Hi Debbsy xx beautiful photos - we should be picking ours up in a couple of weeks.

NatalieJane · 30/03/2007 17:38

Calpol wore off, and it spiked to 38.6 again (Now come the swear words so if you easily offended don't read on!!)

I rang the doctors to see if the doc would come here to see him, I got 'no sorry he is on another call out', so I told her I had a 15 week old baby who had a fit, we had the ambo out, we were in A&E, he is still fighting his temp, so she said can I get him down to the surgery at all, explained no I can't at least not till probably gone 5 o'clock when DH comes in, she asked if we have any relatives that could bring him, I said no, doesn't she think I'd have managed to think of that myself? So I asked what time the doc will be there till today and she said she wasn't sure and she couldn't ask him because he is in a meeting (funny, he was on a call out when we started talking), so she said 'as a last resort I could give you the out of hours number so if you miss the doc you can go there, but with him being a child you will have to take him there, no one will come out to see you as you are expected to be able to get your own child to the doctors if needs be' I am so fucking I told her not to bother troubling herself with finding the numbers for me and put the phone down, the numbers are on the answerphone message when you ring the surgery out of hours anyway. Obviously I am supposed to have a magic wand or a flying carpet of some type.... GRRRRR and GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR again.

Ah, the swearing wasn't as bad as I thought it would be

I wrote all of that about 2 and a half hours ago, latest is DH is home we are waiting till 6 to ring the out of hours because the doctor is now on a home call out apparently His temp has gone down a bit and I fed him, he has just sicked it all back up all over him, all down me all over his changer unit

NatalieJane · 30/03/2007 17:42

Happy birthday to Charlee and Sara, Stacey have a lovely time with the family, Debbsy I am so pleased you and DH are working it all out, don't expect it to all be perfect all the time, but flowers show he is willing to try which is great

Nat grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr bloddy fing receptionists they really do make my blood boil report her seriously. How is George now god you must be so worried back in a sec x

NatalieJane · 30/03/2007 22:50

Oh what a night? Brace yourselves for a long one girls...

I rang the surgery at 6 to get the out of hours number, someone picked up (not the receptionist) said she was there till 6.30, I asked if she could give me the out of hours number, she said whats the problem, so I had to go through it all again, she said she would get the doctor out to us, she said she would go and ring him and ring us back to tell us what was happening, she rang back 2 minutes later saying the docs mob was switched off which meant he was with a patient and she would keep trying him till 6.30 so if we hadn't heard anything by then then we were to ring the out of hours, she didn't ring back so I rang the out of hours, they said they would get a nurse to ring back, he rang about 8.30, so I had to go through it all over again, he said his son has these Febrile Convulsions as well, so he knew where I was coming from, I explained that I wasn't as worried about him having another fit because we are keeping on top of his temp now but I was worried that he has had a temp for the best part of a week (the first sign of a temp was last Saturday) he basically said not to worry, they can't do anything for him, and the same old thing to keep him cool, give him max dose calpol and ring if anything else happens. so I came into the living room to tell DH, DS1 was still up because we were expecting to have to shoot out to the out of hours surgery, I picked George up and he was hot again with cold hands and cheeks, exactly the same as Tuesday, I told DH and the phone rang, it was mum, I was talking to her in the kitchen DH came in asking where the calpol was Georges temp was up again, I just burst into tears down the phone to Mum, then DH called through G had been sick again, so I put the phone down, cleared George up and took his clothes off again, put him in front of the fan and my sister rang so I cried down the phone to her, then I had to ring mum back again and cried again, it took a good 20 minutes for G's temp to come back down but it thankfully has, so now we are just about to have dinner and go to bed. Our surgery is open tomorrow morning so we are going to take him down and demand they do something - anything - I cannot believe we are going to have an argument on our hands to get them to find out what is causing a 3 month old baby to have a high temp for nearly a week... it is utter madness.

Sorry that is so long and probably confusing, I am so tired I can hardly see straight, I am going to go and eat my dinner and get into bed, will let you all know how it goes tomorrow at the docs.

Have a good weekend everyone xxx

OOOO Strawberries and champers MMMMMM!! Happy Birthday Sara I hope your day got a bit more special, though it sounds like you had some nice pressies

Well we were all up and ready to go to the surgery this morning, rang them because we weren't sure if we had to make an appointment or just turn up and wait, and there isn't a Saturday surgery anymore, so we had to go back to out of hours....

Cut a long story short we saw a lovely lovely doctor who checked him over really well, couldn't find anything that was obviously causing the temp but just having that confirmed has put our minds at rest! And I think the sickness and the extra high temp last night was actually the fever breaking because he has only had a slightly high temp all day and for most of it has actually been quite cool, he is still really dopey and a little bit grumpy at times but we did have a smile or two, so it seems he is on his way back to normal

I cannot tell you how relieved we are, we have had a lovely day, the sun is shining even facing Tesco for a HUGE shop on a Saturday wasn't too bad!

Fingers crossed it is all over

NatalieJane · 31/03/2007 19:02

Ooopa I meant to say, thanks again to you all, I really don't know what I'd have done here on my own all day with all sorts going through my mind if I couldn't have ranted and raved on here - thanks girls

podglet · 31/03/2007 19:07

Aw, s'ok NJ, really pleased to hear that G is on the mend and that you might be able to sleep well tonight - all of you!

That's what is so good about MN and esp these threads, is that we're all going through the same thing - though hopefully not that same thing so the advice is always good and varied...

podglet · 31/03/2007 19:08

Happy birthday Sara, hope you're too squiffy to read this!

Debbsyandson · 31/03/2007 20:39

Ahhh nj so glad g is ok hope you feel loads better, lets hope this is it hey! xx

NatalieJane · 01/04/2007 19:33

George is back He has been talking and smiling all day, it has been so good to see him better again, when they are so poorly for a while it seems like they will never get back to normal again! He is still only taking small feeds during the day and then catching up at night time, and it has become pretty obvious that he has lost some weight this week, but he has enough too lose so I am not too worried, but he is much better and that is the main thing for the time being

Only thing is now, we are going to have to cancel our holiday to Kos in August, it is just going to be way too hot for him, we are thinking about maybe going just to Spain or maybe even staying in England, but Kos is out of the window, not sure where we stand with having paid for it already but either way we can't go there now so if we lose any money it is hard luck really...

Right I am off to get DS into bed, he is off school for Easter hol's for the next two weeks so I won't be around so much, but hope you all have a good couple of weeks xxx
