morning!!!!!

squify.. me... no!!!!!!! actually the kids were a bloody nightmare... particularly nephew, who would not go to bed, despite insane tiredness!! bless they wanted to keep on playing! i cooked a very delicious meal (if i do say so myself ) but we didn't sit down to eat til about 9.30 and i was knackered! yesterday my mum and dad came and we all went out for lunch which was lovely!

tomorrow me and dp are going over the pub and we are not coming home till one of us falls over (probably me)!

nat i am so happy george is doing better! what a relief for you! sad about your holiday, though i do see your point... ds1 had heat stroke last year and was so poorly with it(and hot) and that was in this country!

debs, whatever is most covenient for ya!

Hi all,

Sorry need to rant first - having been told that we probably won't have to share the church for DS's christening, and if we did, it would only be 1 other baby, I have today found out that there are 2 other families with christenings on the same day. I am because the church is small and won't hold more than 100 comfortably (working off the other mums numbers we are looking at around 150 - 200 guests between us) and there are only about 8 parking spaces at the church.... grrrr.

woo hoo Debbs - lets hope the sleeping through continues. DS has gone the other way, from once a night to twice!

Glad you had a good, if tiring day Sara

NJ, hope G is still feeling better and you have caught up on some sleep.

Right am off for a soothing cuppa and a choccy biscuit!

podglet · 03/04/2007 08:57

Oh God, I've bored you all to death with my ranting, sorry, ignore me. I know it is silly to be upset about it {blush]

As you were, ladies...

Debbsyandson · 03/04/2007 10:27

It is not silly podgelet that is exactly how i would feelIs there anything you can do?
Sara got it yesday will try and post 2day off 2 swimming b bk lata xx

saralou100 · 03/04/2007 10:41

i had no idea when you get a bubba christened you had to share! (my boys aren't, can ya tell!) thats like asking to share your wedding day surely!.. i would suggest telling all your invites that it starts an hour earler than it actually does so they get all the best seats.. although they may get the hump with you for making them wait (i am joking btw!)

debs, when your ready honey!i'm incredibly grateful you've done ithis for me!!

where is everyone?

Morning all

George is doing fine, his feeding is still over the place but I am expecting it to take a couple of weeks to get back to normal.

Only problem we have now is DS1, I think he is in shock with what happened with George, since last Tuesday when it all kicked off, DS1 has been awake all night, every night, with belly ache, he has been having what he calls 'funny' dreams, he has never had a nightmare and has never mentioned his dreams to me before, but he dreamt a few nights ago that he had gone shopping and everyone was walking around big fat heads, and now if you mention the words big fat heads he throws a wobbly, he was sick on Saturday night which I put down to him coughing, but his cough has gone now and he was sick last night, he seems fine in the day, no belly ache or anything eating and drinking normally, I spoke to my mum this morning because she is a foster mum and has been on loads of courses for this sort of thing and she agrees with me that it sounds like he is waking up letting loads of things go through his head and then getting worked up about it all over again, even though he knows George is fine now and he isn't going to die, (which was his big worry) it is as though his sub-concious is still going through it. Mum says even if we sat DS1 down and explained everything in detail with him it won't make any difference his little brain wouldn't be able to take it all in and make sense of it, so it is just constant reassurance that G is better now, and hope he gets over it soon enough.

So there is still no let up on sleep, I am either feeding G (who is feeding loads and loads at night at the moment) or I am in with DS1 doing anything I can, which isn't a lot, to make his belly feel better. But still, I would rather have this week than last week, so there is a bit of hope!!

I am off to sort this bloody holiday out, Thomas Cook have said we will be refunded the price of the holiday because there is more than 12 weeks till the holiday, but if we cancel altogether we will lose the deposit (£195) and we don't know about the insurance (£90 odd quid) but if we re-book with them as an amendment they will charge £30 per person per change, which I thought meant they would charge £30 each for us to change this time and if we had to change again in a few weeks for whatever reason it would be another £30 each, but no, it is £30 to change the departure day, £30 to change board basis, £30 to change desitnation etc. every single change they have to make on a booking form basically would cost us £120, so it is cheeper to cancel altogether and book with someone else! Robbing bastards!! Oh well, they will lose our £3000, and we won't book with them in the future, considering every time we go away we book with them that could add up to quite alot of business over the years, especially if we ever do win the Lotto!!

Right I'm off my pretties, see you all later xxx

NatalieJane · 03/04/2007 13:22

Woops sorry that was huge

podglet · 03/04/2007 14:55

Thanks Debbsy, not a lot I can do. I could complein to the vicar but not a lot of point, nobody is going to change the date now - christening is on 15th April. I think, if they had told me that it could be shared with more than 1 baby, I would feel differently, but it just feels so impersonal now.

Sara, you are right, it does feel a bit like sharing your wedding day. I did actually email everyone yesterday and suggest they turn up early to avoid parking miles away and then not being able to sit down!

NJ - poor old DS1, hope you manage to reassure him soon that his little bro is fine now. Must have been v scary for the poor little chap. As for the hol, that is a huge amount to change hols with the same company, no wonder you are going elsewhere, there loss.

HappyCatandIzzy · 03/04/2007 22:23

Hi all.
Sounds like you've not had such a great time recently NJ. Hope George is better now and that DS is ok and enjoys his Easter holidays with you.

I've not read the whole thread, but are people weaning their babies yet? Izzy is still breast fed and is not crying for more food at feeding times, but she sleeps less in the day and at night, and doesn't manage 3 hours between each feed anymore. She's also reaching out for my food when I'm eating, and putting anything in her mouth, although this is probably just a developmental thing. It's really hard to know what to do when you've not had to make decisions like this before. What have other people done?

podglet · 04/04/2007 07:22

Hi Happycat, oddly enough I started a thread on this for advice as DS is doing the same thing.

Have a look here I got aome great advice. I have given DS a "dreamfeed" for the last 2 nights as I have gone to bed at about 10 ish and it has really helped.

saralou100 · 04/04/2007 11:46

morning all!!

well me and dp had our first night out, just us 2... we felt so naughty! we only went to the pub for something to eat and a few drinks.. then at 10 we get a tex.. ' ryans wide awake and lovely' so we come home to find the babysitter and her friend playing with him! finally managed to get him back to sleep about midnight!! after giving him 2 bottles.. remind me is their a 16week growth spurt? he did sleep till 6am though!

podglet & happycat, we've started giving ryan a dream feed about 11pm, which is settling him during the night better! personally i won't be weening him till the 26 week mark 'cause we have lots of allergies in both our families.. that and weening ds1 was the most vile part of his life, so i'm not particularly looking forward to doing it (keep asking my mum to do it for me - she won't though )
i'm probably gonna do this blw thing to save myself time and potential stress!

nat, poor little ds1... lots of cuddles and chocolate for him!

sorry in a rush again in am mad panic now but can anyone help me please, spoken to hv as ds seems to have a bit of flattening on the left side to his skull,hv said its either flat head syndrome,or something beginning with p which i cant spell and he has to have treatment for it she told me not to put him on his back so much i dont he is only on his back to go to sleep,so so worried now bb later xx

saralou100 · 04/04/2007 15:19

i think stacey's little boy has this, debs! it's fine, more cosmetic... i knew someone in the past who had this, he had to wear a special hat to get it to reshape, but it was only cosmetic! did she refer you anywhere? or are you seeing gp?

it's a shame stacey's gone off for a week, she could have helped you!

OP posts:
HappyCatandIzzy · 04/04/2007 21:47

I don't know about this flat head thing, but am starting to get concerned that Izzy has a strange shaped head at the back too. Nobody has ever mentioned it to me eg HV has not noticed it. Should I ask them about it? She will be having a developmental check at 7-9 months so I thought I may just ask then. DH has an odd shaped head so I thought it may be genetic!

podglet · 05/04/2007 09:15

Morning,

Debbsy - how are you? Really sorry, don't know anything about this flat head thing but I also remember Stacey's DS having the same thing, she was taught some tricks on how to get over it, such as feeding on the other side I think?

NJ - how is DS1 now?

Hope everyone else is ok, not sure how much I will get on over the weekend as DP will be at home and we have loads of things planned! So, hope you all have a lovely Easter and don't eat too much chocolate... yeah, right!

Debbsyandson · 05/04/2007 09:25

Hi Podgelet i have posted another thread about it and had some good advice thanks have a lovely easter,xx
Sara i posted it yesday
morning everyone

NatalieJane · 05/04/2007 11:56

Morning everyone

DS1 seems to be better thanks Podglet, he has slept through for the last two nights now, no sickness and no belly ache so I think all of the reassurance has paid off. I have also explained to him that although mum and dad will be checking George constantly when ever he seems poorly in case his temp rises again, that he could have this fit again so hopefully if it ever does happen again DS1 will be able to deal with it better.

Debbsy, I can understand how scared you must have felt, I hope the advice you have taken starts to make a difference soon enough xxx

Sara there is a huge growth spurt at 17 weeks according to my breast feeding woman, she said most mums feel like things are going backwards because the sleep patterns go wild etc. but she has promised me that they get through it and things will return to normal!!

DH rang this morning, he has got to go on a training course from the 16th for a few days, in Italy all expences paid, it was only when I put the phone down I realised I am going to be stuck at home on my own with the boys, no car, no one to talk to, I know it is only a couple of days but I have never been on my own before I don't know what I am going to do with myself, wine and chocolates I think...!

saralou100 · 05/04/2007 12:13

morning all!!!

got it thanx debs.. email your address and how much and who to make cheque payable!

nat.. seeming as i've lost count how old, i'll assume it's a growth spurt! i don't know when he's due food, he's unsettled and waking up all over the place... but then he also may be teething... mega drool and fist chomping... he was even chewing the corner of his swing earlier!

i just got a letter from my manager, asking me to come in to discuss my hours.. i don't wanna work saturdays 'cause i have no childcare and i get a feeling from this letter she's not going to agree i won't be very happy if thats the case!

Charleesunnysunsun · 05/04/2007 18:54

Sorry i haven't been around!

Just a quicky we have Chicken Pox (Harry), Tummy bugs (harry and Jack) and Colds (all of us) here so im really busy!

And for those who remember my horrible pregnancy you may recall i had problems with my kidney?
Well it is well and truley buggered now! will reveal all when i don't have a screaming spotty baby in my arms.

saralou100 · 05/04/2007 20:42

debs - intro to flexi time

have a look at this, it may help you! i've worked out that if i have to work alternate saturdays it would cost me £120 more per month in childcare than if i didn't work any saturdays, but the pay and hours would be the same! i can't agree to that! i'm seeing her next week though, so shall argue it out then!

charlee, sending you get better soon wishes to you all! whats wrong with your kidneys? i do remember it well!

i think someone came in the night and exchanged my baby! today i have this screaming, redfaced, hungry one... and quite frankly i preffered the happy, smiling, cute one i had yesterday!!

Another quicky while my sister is cuddling Harry!

When i was pg my right kidney wasn't emptying fully causing alot of blood in my wee and extreme backache.
They said it would go away as soon as harry was born as he would stop pushing againt it hence clearing the blockage.
5 months later it is still aching and now not emtying at all, i keep getting dangerously high temps, crippling back ahe and the blood content of my wee is off the chart, My g.p says he can feel its twice the size it should be, so there must be another blockage. I refuse point blank to have kidney stones!!!!!!!!!
