oh forgot to add, hens are doing well, we still haven't made a final decision on names - i quite like Margot and Gerry (or Geri...i suppose it should be) as in Tom and Barbara's neighbours in the good life, any suggestions?

We have had an egg every day so far and i am not sure if it's the marmite on toast i gave them, but the eggs have increased in size each day, with todays looking not unlike a ostrich egg

Ds1 was so excited when we got the 1st egg, we collected it from them (said thank you to them), and boiled it, made some soldiers...it was great!

calvemjoe · 08/04/2007 14:34

Mabel, I'd love chickens, that sounds so cool!

Bristols, I don't feel svelt, it was a real, but very nice, shock.

Cori, unlikely I think, I've just gone on the mini pill after a few such instances and I'll have my fingers crossed for you till af arrives.

calvemjoe · 08/04/2007 14:34

Ooops, Happy Easter!

compo · 08/04/2007 19:05

Happy Easter everyone

Corinader - obviously day 14 is your most fertile day BUT if you used a condom at the last minute I'm sure you'll be fine!!!

bristols · 08/04/2007 19:30

Cori - I don't know much about these things, but I do think that day 14 is your most fertile one. Why don't you get the morning after pill, just to be on the safe side? Might save you worrying all month. I'm not sure about cycles and all that stuff. My friend fell pg just 3 days after her period.

Mabel - I haven't had a period since becoming pg either. Glad I'm not the only one. You still bf?

LO is in next stage car seat, but still rear facing. He seems to prefer it as its higher so he can see what's going on a bit more.

Happy easter all!

tassis · 08/04/2007 19:51

Hi everyone and Happy Easter! Hope everyone's had a lovely day.

Mabel - we grew up with hens in the garden. enjoy!

Cori - keep us updated, when will you test?

No period here either but I'm still BFing too (with ds they returned when he was 8 months).

Food - mostly home cooked here though some jars for fruit pudding (as I find peeling and cooking pears and apples was driving me DEMENTED!). Also have discovered those fruit pots that I don't think were around when I was weaning ds - you know the ones that come 4 stuck together like yogs. We sometimes just mush what we're having but have some Annabel Karmel recipes in the freezer too - cod, orange and sweet potato; beef cass and a courgette gratin thing too. Keep trying to get dd into finger food but she's having none of it which is a joke as she adores eating and puts all her toys in her mouth for a good old chomp!

She's just about mastered sitting in the past couple of days which is cute. Has a 2nd tooth and I'm sure there's another on the way.

Think it'll be a long time before we move her into next car seat, I think the recommended weight is 20 lbs and dd is a light wee thing.

Her new trick is whipping her sunhat off her head which she thinks is very clever!

theUrbanDryadLovesCremeEggs · 08/04/2007 19:51

hiya - quickt hijack here. do you think some of you could possibly add your support here? thanks!

nallyschocolateorange · 08/04/2007 23:52

Any room for one more? I know I am probably a bit late to join. DD2 was born 21st September.....

nallyschocolateorange · 08/04/2007 23:55

I guess everyone is asleep, which makes perfect sense. As I am on baby duty tonight I should probably head off to bed myself..

nallydoolally · 09/04/2007 11:24

bump?

compo · 09/04/2007 13:05

Hi Nally - of course there is room for one more Think everyone must be out enjoying the sunshine!

Coriander73 · 09/04/2007 14:18

Welcome nally...it's far too sunny to be inside Mnetting!!! - however as I was passing through whilst putting more washing on thought I'd have a sneeky peep Ai ai ai compo, I know I know!!!! I hadn't realised where we were in the cycle until the morning after! When I saw it was day 14 I felt rather worried. The thing is I was never worried about when we had bf before I realised I was indeed fertile....DH still very much against anymore children but you know....it's hard to say never ever again

Mabel, Margot & Gerry does it for me!!!

J cut his first tooth this morning.. He had a little humous with pitta at lunch!!! Still no go with purees...& a spoon if it's petit filous only!!! Hope you are all enjoying the glorious weather..

clairemow · 09/04/2007 19:56

hello all, and hi again Liquidclocks, wondered where you were! And hello Nally, welcome.

What a fab weekend! The sun has shone here without stopping! Didn't do much Friday and Saturday, DS1 just didn't want to leave the garden. Went to Lacock Abbey today, and had a nice time hunting easter eggs.

DH cooked dinner, got to go eat...!

OP posts:
Coriander73 · 09/04/2007 21:40

obviously I really don't want to be pg again (if ever) so soon after J!....

Having been off for 6 months with J & the past 4 days on my own with both the children (as DH has had to work the entire BH) I've realised more than ever just how bloody hard it is being a SAHM.....it's incredibly rewarding but the sheer amount of none stop get up & go that is the total care of two children plus the running of a house....to think that there are people who still question what a SAHM does & think it's a doss!!! It's considerable harder work than being at work no question...!

bristols · 09/04/2007 22:10

Hello all and welcome, Nally,
Lovely weekend here. Sun shining the whole time and a lovely time was had by all. A real treat not to be working over the bank holiday. Hooray for maternity leave! Saw my best friend on Saturday and she announced that she's 15 weeks pg! Soooooo excited. I think that once you've had a baby of your own, you take the news that someone else is expecting in a totally different way, don't you? Have been thinking about her so much. I keep thinking 'Oh I must tell her such and such and I must recommend so and so's book' etc etc. Its brilliant news.

Had a BBQ today and spent all day in the garden with my two boys (DH and DS). DS became really cuddly this afternoon which he never normally does. He's normally bouncing around all over the place; he never sits still. We were sitting in the garden and he really cuddled in and I lapped up every second! I can't wait for the day when he actually hugs me back when I hug him. Anyone know what sort of age that happens?

Anyway, off to bed in a mo. Back to the old routine tomorrow. Also getting ready for the arrival of my parents from France on Wednesday. They're staying for two weeks mainly to babysit so that DH and I can go to a wedding the weekend after next. Thankfully, they love any excuse to come over so we get to have our first weekend away without LO. Can't wait...

fairysnuff · 09/04/2007 22:30

Hello all, and welcome to nally
I can't believe it! I live 35 miles away from Twatt!!!!!!

Funny that you are talking about car seats, DH and I went to check them out at Halfords today I was looking forward to chosing a nice one for DD but, it turns out, our car is so old we have only one option open to us. to not get to do fun shopping around.
But DD is also only a wee thing too, she is 3 llbs away from being ready for it yet so I didn't even get to buy the only one I could. I will wait for a sale or look elsewhere.

Glorious weather? Sun hats?
It was nice, but not that nice up here in scotland

I cook my own food to, but I gave her one or two jars over the weekend (we were at PIL) They do smell so nasty!
But I haven't ventured beyond pureed veg in all sorts of combos!!
Can they have meat yet? I was not sure. Fish is good though, huh?

bristols · 09/04/2007 23:07

Fairy - meat and fish are fine. My DS has had chicken, beef and white fish so far. Loved all of it. I'd start with chicken if I were you as it's less of a strong flavour. Also, lentils are a good protein to give and they mix well with the veg combos!

Coriander73 · 10/04/2007 15:30

Bored at work...really bored & frustrated. I just want to walk out (just like they do in the films!!) saying I'm OUT OF HERE....arrgghhhhh..........come on appeal.

When can you introduce kiwi? Can't remember at all. Also after two petit filous yday, J came up very red & blotchy around his mouth...any potential allergy I should be worried about? He didn't have that reaction when I gave him some organic yeo valley....?!!

fairysnuff · 10/04/2007 16:17

DD is covered in a rash all over her tummy, shoulders and thighs
Reckon it was cos I washed things at PIL.
But am confused cos they bought in liquid Fairy especially for me to do that? I normally use powder though, would it make any odds to use liquid of the same brand instead?
She does use Ace Bleach on her clothes but I am fairly certain DD's didn't go in that, but they may have been washed with other items that had.
It is not bothering her in the slightest, but I don't like it!

My brother recomended just giving her a massage with oil to help soften her rough skin up a bit.
It is betterthan it was a day ago butstill feels so bad.
Just felt a little about it, so thought I would share

fairysnuff · 10/04/2007 16:20

Sorry, forgot to say and it was mainly why I posted anyway!!
So sorry to hear you are bored Coriander
I wanted to post so you would get a post to read, maybe break the day up a bit to hear me whine about my rashy baby??
Maybe not!
Must be near quitting time now though?
Are they being nice to you or is it all a bit weird?

Coriander73 · 10/04/2007 16:51

very wierd & I'm screaming inside! I'd never realised either just how much I hate sitting all day! I know with two children it's get & up all the time & you would like some time to yourself but honestly I'm bored rigid staring at the bloody pc & looking around at how miserable my colleagues all seem...well some do then you have the "not leaving until 7-8pm brigade"...just to see who is more committed..argghhh....I miss my children...I miss life outside of the office....I feel resignation coming....

Sorry to hear about lo's skin..We also use Fairy non bio & it's been fab (both have v. sensitive skin). Perhaps try rubbing a little virgen olive oil into it....that's helped me before now (if you can stand the smell!)

compo · 10/04/2007 19:02

Corinader - you sound so miserable, whatever happens at the appeal it sounds as though the best thing for you and your family would be to resign. What does dh think?

Myrtle1 · 10/04/2007 19:13

Hello,

DS and I had alovely easter weekend at my parents, - very relaxing in the sun Poor DH stayed at home and got on with the decorating/plastering. Half the room is done which was good going. We're off on holiday this weekend, sharing a cottage with SIL and family in Cornwall (Port Isaac), I've never been so am very excited
Checked out funny place names near me and we're 30 miles from Bitchagreen and 31 miles from Camp Town
Cori, know what you mean about 8pm brigade. I've stopped feeling guilty about that now and just go at 5.10pm on the dot.

Myrtle1 · 10/04/2007 19:14

BTW, I'm still doing a tiny bit of bf and haven't had a period but last week I had a bit of spotting like af was starting and then nothing. Is that normal?

mabel1973 · 10/04/2007 20:30

cori -so sorry you sound so miserable...are you looking out for something else. Even if you would prefer to be at home, but have to go to work, it would make life so much more bearable for you if you were at least happy at work...

Fairy - it could be a teething rash? Ds1 sometimes got this over his tummy (not had it with DS2), didn't seem to bother him, in fact bothered me more.

Myrtle - v. i love port isaac....but we will be down that way in july, we have a week in wales 1st though....only 3 weeks and 4 days to go!

Well today in our wisdom, we decided to go to the seaside for the day....our nearest seaside resort being skegness.
Well apart from the 2 hour jourmey being horrendous, when we got there (apologies to anyone from the skeg area), it is just horrible...so tacky and dirty....but i guess it's always been like that, we had absolutely minging fish and chips, played crazy golf (which DS1 loved) and saw some seals. and tha's about it, then DS2 cried more or less all the way home...nightmare! i don't think we'll do it again in a hurry.

Oh and DS2 has learnt to pull his sun hat off...i thought i might get him to wear one this summer, but obviously not!
