hi all!

Cori - how awful - all i can do is sympahise...i've been there & it sucks, wha makes it worse is when you know you are good at your job and you've given that comapny 100% and you just feel like it's thrown back in your face. I hope your lawyer can help you out.

Myrtle - we are doing more or less the same as Claire, except BF.

On the blow up bed thing - we bought ours on ebay, it is a monsters inc ready bed, which we bought for our ill fated camping trip las summer. It cost us about 12 quid...i imagine it will come in useful in the future!

I am still trying to drop that last feed....I have tried bringing his formula bottle forward from 10.30pm to the 7pm feed, however he just messes with it, but if i try and bf him he guzzles!! last night i gave him three oz formula at 9pm and he still went through, so I think we are on the way to dropping it at last.

Can I ask about vitamin drops? I have read in DS2's red book that babies over 6 months who are bf should be given vitamin drops and all children over a year should have them as well...I have never been told this by a HV and DS1 has never had vitamins, I assumed that if they are both having a balanced diet they wouldn't need them?

clairemow · 27/03/2007 12:31

Mabel, I've never heard that either. Surely if you are bf then LO is getting all the nutrients he needs from that along with his balanced solids diet (!!)? I've never given DS1 any supplements either, and no-one's ever mentioned it.

The lawyer said she didn't think we'd have a tight enough case to take to tribunal. I am, to be frank, gobsmacked. I have reread my letter 100 times & I truely believe that they haven't given good enough business reasons to reject my request. I would like a second opinion but DH says not too, that what would I achieve etc. Why do they think that they can get away with treating people like this? I am finalising my letter of appeal to send tm & go from there...

Well, I think I have a BLW baby in Jack!! Continues to hate purees & spoons so today I was so fed up I gave him a peach for breakfast which he ate chunks of, a whole banana al lunch which he ate, & then a large broccolli floret which he also ate. I am rather taken aback by it all tbh. DD was a dream...I Annabel Karmeled everything & she loved it. J just gets into a fit of pique if I go near him with a spoon & anything sloppy on it. Trouble is, what do I give him & how will I know if he is getting enough?? I guess I'm also still rather apprehensive about gagging etc but he was fine today....I just don't know what to do

bristols · 27/03/2007 22:50

Cori - that's dreadful news about the work thing. What a worry. I'm not going back to work until August and, to be honest, it never crossed my mind that they might refuse my application for fewer hours. Do you think you'll leave? Re: the BLW, if you search MN you'll find loads of advice. Just go for it! I can understand your worries over how much he's getting etc but you could always increase the milk a bit if you think he's not eaten enough. Just a thought until he gets the hang of it..?

Mabel - I read about the vitamin drops too but don't know anyone who's on them. Perhaps you could ask your HV or pharmasist? (I believe you buy them over the counter)

Claire - wow, teeth! No sign here although lots of chewing and LO has a sore bottom. Is this a sign?

Myrtle - our day: 7.30am, milk. 8.30 ish breakfast; 12/12.30 lunch with water; 3pm milk; 5.30pm tea; 6.30pm bottle and bed. So, in answer to your question, yes we do leave a gap between milk and solids.

Beautiful day here today. DS spent time playing on a rug in the garden. Lovely fresh air.

Does anyone know where Liquid is? She hasn't been here for ages.

Off to bed now. V tired and keep making typing errors which is making me V

Night........

Been a while again; overwhelmed w/ house projects I?d put off while trying to get art completed!!

--

Cori, Compo & Clairemow - I found this: ?Although this product is listed in the yoghurt category on Ciao, technically, it's not a yoghurt. Fromage frais, as you might have guessed, is a French term meaning 'fresh cheese'. It is generally thicker than yoghurt, and because of the added cream, quite high in fat. This makes it ideal for babies and toddlers, as they need the additional energy from the relatively small amount of food that they consume.? (Hadn?t a clue what it was; we don?t have it here)

?Ideal for babies and toddlers.? So, ha!

Mabel, so glad your friend?s test was negative!!
Every day we give DS1 (3.5) a gummi vitamin, 500 mg cod liver oil(DHA) & a broccoli/spinach supplement called ?KidGreenz.? Started when he was nearly 3 & was going through a phase where he just wouldn?t eat. Will start DS2 on all of the above when he?s about same age. Would think a BF baby would be getting everything he needs ? ?

Wow Clairemow @ 3 teeth!

Cori, your work situation?s unbelieveable. Hope it turns out all right.
It took Jameson forever to take to solid food & still doesn?t like anything with cheese in it. I?m sure your LO will get to it!

Bristols ? Sorry about the day care situation. Hope you find something where you can feel comfortable.

Jameson?s now finally enjoying baby food ?
Myrtle - Milk, then immediately solids. Sometimes he?ll have 6 oz milk then 8 oz solids!

J.?s not much for rolling, but likes sitting without support. Personality?s turning out like baby DS1?s was: Calm, not easy to cry, & very observant. Really enjoying him.

Meanwhile DS1 continues to pretty much have Tourette?s:
?Poopie!?
?Go to the corner!?
Comes out of corner & immediately: ?Poopie!?
?Go to the corner!?
Not to make light of the disease (I actually know someone who has it) ? but really it?s as if he can?t help himself! 3 year old boys?
Still no signs of jealousy though.

Looking forward to Jamaica ? DH is like a drowning man; really needs some R&R. When we go I might be hauling out the string bikini one last time.

Marls001 · 28/03/2007 01:57

Have finally put new pics up on Yahoo (some even from October)!
Claire - art ones are up too.

bristols · 28/03/2007 11:05

I never got into the Yahoo thing. How do I do it? Would love to see your pics and would be happy to put some of Zach on there (although maybe not on here, if that makes sense?!)

Marls001 · 28/03/2007 13:56

Bristols - Go here and click "join this group."

bristols · 28/03/2007 14:51

Done. Awaiting approval.

Just a quick question as I'm in a bit of a rush. Do you give your LOs Pudding? I haven't been doing and he seems to be full enough but I note from some of the books that they always offer a sweet. What do you think?

The unthinkable happened earlier and I locked myself out of the house with DS inside. Thankfully he was safe in his cot. I'd left the patio door open but had to get the tall man and a pair of steps from next door to get me into the back garden. Got in and DS was screaming the house down. Felt dreadful. Won't do that again!

Better go and wake him up as he's been asleep for over two hours (probably the trauma LOL) and I'll have trouble tonight if he sleeps much longer.

Coriander73 · 28/03/2007 15:16

Marls....gorgeous photos of your two boys!!!! So different in colour aren't they? A bit like my two..DD is very pale & blue eyed wheres J is dark skinned & big brown eyes! Love the artwork too...

Coriander73 · 28/03/2007 15:18

sorry bristols....well, J had a roasted carrot for lunch..! Still no go on the purees. However, yes I always gave DD a pudding after her meal & will aim to the same with DS - when I say pudding I mean either fruit or yoghurt...not real puddings (those are for mummy!!!)

fairysnuff · 28/03/2007 22:04

Hi all
Been a while since I have been on, and it took me a while to catch up!
Can I join the yahoo group too? I clicked on the link and sent my details for approval, hope that was ok?

DD and I stil have no routine to talk of, but I leave time between solids and milk feeds too.
I am not sure if the pooey and sore bum means teething? I have said sooo many times that I thought she was teething becasue of this and her being a little gurny but still no teeth. So I don't say it anymore

So sorry to hear about the work situation Coriander. Keeping tabs on you? Sounds like you are better off out, but that is easier said than it would be to do, eh?
Will you be on the search for a new place or do you think you will manage to go back? Not sure I would be able to after being treated like that, but I am an awful one for rash decisions.

Marls001 · 29/03/2007 02:58

Cori - Thank you! The blue eyes were quite a surprise to us - DH is Hispanic, but his grandmother had them so we had a 1 in 10 or so chance! Different coloring is neat, the way it turned out .. How did yours get theirs?

(Fairy & Bristols - You're on Yahoo now!)

bristols · 29/03/2007 11:44

Thanks Marls. Just need to work out how to upload the photos now. This may take some time.....

bristols · 29/03/2007 11:47

Fairy - you've already done it! You put my IT skills to shame. The pictures are great. Fab hair!!

kseaj · 29/03/2007 14:21

hi everyone

Could someone please help ds is getting up any time between 4am and 5am have no idea why, have increased his milk to 8oz but thats not worked have put him down late and thats not worked either.

Dont know what else to do and i have no choice but to get up with him as he is waking dd and ds1 up.

Marls001 · 29/03/2007 14:51

Kseaj - Same has been happening to us, the last 3 nights - up at 3:45, 4:15 am ... Is it teething? Is it allergies (lots of red oak here)? No idea. Can't be food - he gets all he needs at feedings until he refuses more. We're stumped too. Anyone?

fairysnuff · 29/03/2007 17:23

DD had been doing this for a month! After stopping it for 3!!
She had been taking a feed and then went back down.
No idea why?
She seemed to have stopped for a week there but started again last night.
Don't know if that was cos she got her last solids at 5.30 instead of our, unorganised 6.30 for 7?
It meant that she had two milk feeds before bed instead of a solid then a milk feed. I was figuring it was just hunger last night and for the month, a growing time (can't say spurt! It went on for a month afterall, thats no spurt!)
We will see what happens tonight.

I know, bristols, I surprised myself today!! DD went back to sleep unexpectedly after her morning feed so I took the time to have a nice shower and pop my pics on. I was expecting to be interupted at any time, but no, I managed to get the best ones on and up to date with what I have!!
V proud of myself
Though I didn't manage to get a good look through everyone elses, so perhaps I will just pop off and do that now, whilst she is snoozing again.

I know I Love her hair too!! You should see some of the ones from earlier when it just stood up on end like she had her finger in a socket

compo · 29/03/2007 18:30

Evening everyone.
Cori -so sorry to hear that work is being so crappy, sounds like you are best out of there although that is no consolotion when they are basically driving you out.

Sorry to hear about early waking babies. We had exorcist baby last night - threw up all her bedtime bottle all over me, and then wouldn't go down, still crying etc so I kept going up and she'd thrown up in her cot - literally a film of sick all in her eyes. So we had to change everything, clean up the carpet, use travel cot mattress (thnak God we had a spare cos her mattress was soaked). She evetually went to sleep at 9pm after being pout down at 6.30pm!

compo · 29/03/2007 18:36

Love all the new photos, have added some too.
Marls - those pictures are great!

compo · 29/03/2007 18:43

well I tried to add some photos but it wouldn't let me so will try again later!!

Marls001 · 30/03/2007 05:02

It's late here, 11:00! But wanted to share this with y'all before turning in: Was a v. good day for DH!! Finally finally closed the big deal - the one his company relocated him here to have him do. Showed me congratulatory e-mails he's received from his team, bosses, VPs/Sr.VPs from all over the country ... From now on, he'll be less stressed!!
But, also means the beginning of the end for our staying here. Ah, well. Very proud of him today.

Coriander73 · 30/03/2007 14:12

I'm so proud.. DS just had one babycorn, half a salmon fillet & a fresh apricot; just incredible watching him enjoy it & not gag!!!!!!!! I can't really believe this is happening....a BLW baby it would seem....really don't know what to think!!!

compo · 30/03/2007 14:44

excellent news Marls and Cori
How did he manage to eat the salmon fillet? Just picked it up and chewed on it? Wow, well done
